Chapter 243 Ukrainian Beauty

While Moscow was in trouble, Selyosha was inspecting the agriculture here in Ukraine. Although Selyosha was full of confidence when he came, he thought that he might change the poor production conditions of the collective farm here. However, when he really came to the grassroots to investigate the status quo, he realized that he was too wrong.

The Soviet Union was not China, and Seriosha could not transplant China's experience here. Although there was no shortage of arable land in Ukraine, it lacked sufficient labor. These fertile land was now abandoned here. No one was found to plant it. Labor shortage was the most fundamental problem of Soviet agriculture.

Seryosha has now completely given up the unrealistic idea of changing the current situation of agricultural development in Ukraine from the bottom of his heart. He now just wants to finish the itinerary here as soon as possible and then return to Moscow to do other things. As for Gorbachev, Seryosha plans to just pay some money to build a demonstration farm for the transfer.

However, through this inspection, Seriosha still summarized some specific issues. On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, it was pointed out that although the central government has always expected that agricultural production organizations can produce more grain, due to the relaxation of policies on livestock breeding and non-staple food production, the majority of collective farm members are no longer concerned with grain production, but are more focused on self-operated economies. This has resulted in a large loss of labor force engaged in grain production. The result of labor loss is a decline in grain production and agricultural production, which in turn seriously restricts the development of the breeding and animal husbandry. So in the final analysis, the only way out is to use the existing grain production labor and invest huge amounts of money to establish a large planting industry that imitates North American countries. Although the report was written by Seriosha, he himself knew that building a large farm like the United States requires a lot of financial support and is impossible to promote on a large scale.

Selyosha wrote his report roughly and handed it over to Nasjia to revise it. The subsequent matters were waiting for the decision of his superiors. Although Selyosha came to Ukraine to inspect agriculture, he was at least an official of Moscow and ministries. Welcoming and communication in some places are naturally inevitable. Especially Selyosha is now in charge of grain production, the most critical department of the Ministry of Agriculture, and those related enterprises under the Ministry of Agriculture must naturally be entertained.

The last stop of Selyosha's inspection itinerary was mainly concentrated in the Dneprpetrovsk Oblast, the hometown of Bo Zong. It is not only the industrial, economic and cultural center of Ukraine, but also an important grain-producing area. The Dnepr River Hydropower Station, built in 1939, not only provided sufficient electricity for the Ukrainian region, but also created good conditions for agriculture and fishery here.

When the convoy of the Ministry of Agriculture led by Seriosha came to Dneprpetrovsk in a mighty manner, a local lieutenant governor in charge of agriculture had been waiting at the gate of the state government for a long time. Seriosha's car stopped steadily at the gate of the state government, and the entourage sitting in the passenger seat hurriedly opened the door for Seriosha. Seriosha tidied up his clothes, then reached out to shake hands with the officials of the state government who greeted him.

The deputy governor introduced the officials waiting here one by one to Selyosha. Selyosha smiled and greeted the officials who had met for the first time one by one. Occasionally, they even joked a few times. All of these officials looked flattered.

"Director Ulyanov, welcome to Dneprpetrovsk Prefecture to guide our work!"

"I'm very happy to see you, Comrade Yushenko!" Xie Liansha responded cordially.

...

Everyone greeted each other for a long time, and the reporters waiting by the side found the opportunity to take photos of the meeting for everyone. This photo will be used on the front page of the local newspaper published tomorrow!

"Director Ulyanov, what are your plans for the next trip?" asked Deputy Governor Yushenko respectfully.

"I followed your arrangements. I came to Dneprpetrovsk for the first time, of course, because I followed the arrangements of local comrades!" Selyosha said with a friendly attitude.

Seeing that Selyosha was still easy-going, Yushenko finally relaxed his heart. As a deputy governor in charge of agriculture, Yushenko was most worried about the superiors sending people here to investigate the reasons for the reduction in grain production. Now it seems that the director of the Grain Production Bureau did not seem to be here to provoke a military conspiracy.

"Since we have prepared a welcome party for you, and we will arrange it in the evening. I wonder if Director Ulyanov can come here, so that our Ukrainian girls can appreciate your style!" Yushenko mustered up the courage and said half-jokingly.

"Hey... your comrades here... were so thoughtful!" Xie Liaosha kept silent, originally trying to make a joke, but he almost sucked Yushenko half-death when he spoke.

Under Yushenko's entertainment, Seriosha walked into the state government building, held a brief meeting with the first secretary of the provincial party committee and the governor of Dneprpetrovsk Prefecture, and exchanged views on some agricultural issues. After taking a group photo, Seriosha and his entourage returned to the hotel to rest.

Selyosha took a shower, ate something, and after a while, it was soon time for the evening dance. Yushenko personally came to the hotel to greet Selyosha. After Selyosha had cleaned up, the two drove to the Municipal Party Committee reception hall of Dneprpetrovsk.

Yushenko found out that Secretary Ulyanov was very young and had not yet married, so he selected some young and beautiful teachers, civil servants, engineers and other women from all units in the city to dance here with the leaders. And what about Selyosha? He had long been given up on the prospects of Ukrainian agriculture, and naturally he would not hold the responsibility of the agricultural authorities here. He only planned to end the matter here early and return to Moscow.

"Ladies, please pay attention. This is Director Ulyanov from Moscow..." Yushenko was about to continue introducing, and Selyosha waved his hand and asked Yushenko to stop first. Then Selyosha introduced himself: "Don't call me a director, just call me Comrade Ulyanov. The comrades of the Director-General thought I was an old man..."

Selyosha successfully set a relaxed tone for the dance. Next, the young women who came to invite Selyosha to dance were one after another. Selyosha got off the stage and went to rest. Just as Selyosha was planning to go back to rest early, a black-haired girl came up to Selyosha and said, "Comrade Ulyanov, can you dance with me?"
