Chapter 26, the second headless corpse
The air in the sewer is dirty.
Solan turned on the flashlight and shone it everywhere, while Shirley took out the mask prepared in advance and handed him a copy.
The space here is quite open. Although it is not as old as the ancient and gloomy as the Catacombs in Paris or as complex as the new and old underground pipelines in New York, it also has its own characteristics. Seattle rock culture is flourishing, and the sewer walls are covered with graffiti. Because the orange eternal lights are a little dark, it looks a bit terrifying.
"Did you see it? These are all traces."
Solan also turned on the fluorescent protein lamp. The purple light shone on the ground and you could see a line of mottled blood. It exists at the entrance, sprinkling all the way and extending into the distance.
"Who hurt him?" Shirley asked, "And he has a lot of bleeding. Shouldn't he go to the hospital quickly? He actually found a horse gourd and jumped down. Is this person really crazy?"
Solan is also having a headache now. Of course he knows who he is tracking. Shirley Harbor is just an ordinary girl and cannot understand the existence of zombies.
But not bringing her is also a problem, because the police partner system has an important purpose, which is to supervise each other. It would be fine if there is no partner. Since Shirley is already swaying around, she will be present for such an investigation.
Without any intention of chatting, the two walked along the sewer. The blood was indeed a little more at the beginning of the road, and then it decreased rapidly. It should be that the injured had found a way to stop the bleeding. Shirley speculated so that Solan knew the truth better, because the zombie's wound was healing.
Then, there is a taste.
The blood smell that belongs to a life characteristic is lingering around Solan and then stretches to the end of the tunnel. This is equivalent to the smell he smelled at the door of his house last night, and the blood stain on Arya's hand, and the target is the outside zombie.
The possibility of the other party hiding here is not high, but who knows what is waiting for me at the end of the road? I have to go and see it no matter what.
"This is the first time I've been to the sewer."
Shirley followed along, and because of the atmosphere, she couldn't help but lower her voice: "I heard that there are many homeless people living underground in Las Vegas, and there are many criminals living underground in Gotham City. Will there be people hiding here in Seattle?"
Solan moved forward silently, and when Shirley asked for the second time, she said, "The pistol was loaded, and the smell of blood in front became heavier."
Shirley was still stunned, so Solan had already taken out his pistol. She also uttered her roar and quickly took out her own.
"The smell of blood in front...you can still smell this!?"
Officer Solan-Dog Nose-Police Adams ignored her and walked forward quickly.
This is already a very deep position in the sewer. Even the eternal lights seemed to be in line with the atmosphere. Several were broken, and the light seemed particularly dim. The blood on the ground was gone, but Solan clearly smelled it. In a corner turning right in front, there was a discovery that no one could ignore.
"ah!"
When the searchlight hit, Shirley screamed in surprise: "A corpse!"
The target was obvious, and the two ran towards it.
Under the dim light, where should I look first? Is it the dark red on the railings that are not rust, or the blood stains on the ground soaked in cement, or the body of the municipal maintenance worker!?
The answer is naturally self-evident, but in this short moment, Shirley only felt a moment when her soul left her body. Which one should she pay attention to first!?
Solan had already arrived next to the body and frowned and looked at it.
The ground was in a mess, and a huge skull was crushed into hundreds of pieces, mixed with flesh and blood, and splashed around in a scattered manner. Shirley gasped on the spot. The terrifying scene was almost as terrifying as the one in Unity Lake!
Seeing that she was weak, Solan immediately held her arm and took two steps back: "Keep a certain distance from the scene and move carefully."
"Yes...yes." Shirley was a little stunned. After she came to her senses, she felt the urge to cry. God, she has only been a policeman for two or three days in her life. Is it necessary for you torture like this?
Solan leaned down to observe the corpse. His head was shattered again. This was the same characteristic as the corpse this morning, but it was different from the one in Union Lake. He began to think about it. It was obvious that the outsider had committed two cases last night, but the time of this case must have been before the one that had been discovered.
But this secret cannot be told to Shirley.
He sighed, "Contact CSI immediately to get here, and we found another body, just like this morning."
Shirley immediately took out her cell phone, but because of being too nervous, it took a little effort to open the screen: "So what's the situation? Solan, have you discovered a possible way to commit a murder? The other party used a pistol, and it was a large caliber like a revolver, right? Did you find that the gunpowder was left? At least it wasn't a shotgun, right?"
Solan smiled bitterly, her partner had a good imagination, at least there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was clear that there was no shotgun left on the scene, and it was indeed not done by the shotgun. If this case was indeed done by ordinary people, her ideas were indeed very reliable, but unfortunately it was useless here.
"Do you think I'm a dog's nose? You can smell gunpowder by just standing here?"
"But you can't smell blood...Oh okay, I...ah, is it a Crime Investigation Center?"
Shirley was hanging up the phone, while Solan carefully observed the corpse. Removed the head, there were no other scars on the corpse, which was indeed completely different from the corpse of Union Lake. The zombie did not suddenly change its hunting style. There have been two "headshot" styles. It can be inferred that Union Lake has a special situation.
But what would be the case?
Of course, Solan did not forget Arya. When he first met the girl, he was at the predation scene. So he could see clearly that the girl had extraordinary persistence in the torso and had no interest in the head. Since she was used to eating big fish and meat, how could she suddenly think of savoring the classics?
The traces of the deceased's scene were very clear, and the brain was broken, but there was no brain matter inside.
"You stay here to take charge of CSI. I continue to search for clues, do you remember?"
"What, what? I'm staying here!?" Sherry just hung up the phone, and she looked down at the corpse near her eyes, her facial muscles tense: "Sir... are you trying to exercise my courage?"
"That's the reason. Although it's a bit high, Shirley, don't you think you're really a little bit less courage?" Solan smiled proudly, because this idea was just killing two birds with one stone: "Anyway, this corpse will not suddenly be resurrected, it will only take twenty minutes at most. Maybe I can still come back before CSI."
"What if I vomited!"
"It's okay, I'll get used to vomiting and vomiting. Everyone comes here like this. Just be careful to be spit onto the corpse."
After leaving such an irresponsible sentence, Solan indeed received a shout from Shirley, "How can you do this?", but this is the result he wanted. After throwing aside another sentence "Light up your flashlight", he ran into the depths of the sewer!
Shirley was left in place like this.
It looks so quiet around.
Suddenly, she felt that the eternal lights around her were still too dark. The commander really reminded her that she should light up the flashlight and borrow it.
"It's so deadly..."
Holding the flashlight, standing alone in the dim sewer, lying next to it with a corpse with a headshot, Shirley was almost crying and crying. This is not a question of whether she vomits or not, or whether the corpse will be resurrected, is this a question of having a nightmare tonight!?
The phone has been hung up, but my colleagues will definitely have to arrive for a while. During this period, I must stay here...
"Sir... don't look like this..."
Shirley was leaning against the wall, and the flashlight kept sweeping around. This was the first time she had entered the sewer since she was so old. Is it necessary to be so impressed? Although there seems to be nothing to remember about this kind of thing, it is too much to guard such a corpse alone?
Moreover, the surroundings are really too quiet.
After calming down slightly, Shirley felt her hair standing up all over her body.
