Chapter 944: The Dream of Bombing the United States

In the general impression, the equipment of the island country has always been relatively small, such as pocket tanks, submarines, and Zero aircraft, which are all small in size.

Moreover, all of this seems to be due to the limited resources of the island countries, which has led to their inability to develop large equipment.

Such an opinion is actually one-sided.

Island countries still have large tanks, such as Type 5 tanks, which are all weighing 35 tons. Moreover, the island countries also have plans for super tanks of 100 tons and 150 tons. However, these are all in the late stage of World War II, and the island countries are not able to develop such heavy weapons.

In terms of bombers, the island countries have actually been pursuing them without any effort.

Especially after the outbreak of the Pacific War, they have been working hard to develop a bomber that can take off from the country and bomb the United States.

The research projects of Nakajima Company are progressing step by step from g5n "deep mountains", g8n "lianshan", and g10n "mountain Fuji".

Among them, the final planned project, "Mount Fuji", is similar in size to the b-36 "Peace Reservoir" developed by the United States at the same time. It is definitely a super weapon. Unfortunately, before "Mount Fuji" could be tested, the island country announced its surrender.

g8n "Lianshan" is similar to the American b-17 "Air Fortress", but it uses a Nakajima nk9k-l haro24 engine, with a single power of 2,000 horsepower, two-thirds more than the one used by the b-17, so it is faster and has no armor protection, so it can reach a longer range under comparable weight.

Unfortunately, this project has been 44 years since the United States has begun to carry out large-scale strategic bombing on island countries. "Lianshan" has not been put into mass production, and there are no records of participating in the actual combat.

Now, it is the first attempt by the island country to use heavy bombers, which is the bomber code-named G5n Deep Mountains.

This is the four-engine heavy bomber developed by Nakajima Heavy Industry based on the US DC-4 civil aviation aircraft. It is the first attempt by the island country. Its appearance and aerodynamic layout are similar to the US B-24 "Liberator", but the size is much larger and the take-off weight is slightly larger than the "Liberator". In terms of performance, the two have basically the same ammunition load and range, but the "Deep Mountain" is not as good as the "Liberator" in terms of ceiling and maximum speed, and it has not met the requirements of the navy, so it has not been put into use in history.

Now, this aircraft is in the development stage and is in the trial production stage of the prototype. Nakajima Company is quite looking forward to this aircraft.

The island country is about to fall into a war with the United States, so the island country urgently needs bombers that can bomb the United States. Although it may not fly from the island country to the United States, it can also fly from some bases in the Pacific!

Now, the superiors are very demanding on the progress of this bomber. From a design perspective, it can travel back and forth between Hawaii!

The deep mountain bomber has entered the final assembly stage, and the designer of this aircraft, the young Kenichi Matsumura, is supervising the process next to him. When he saw a group of people coming, he raised his body and greeted everyone, especially when he saw the German visitors, he was even more happy.

"Your Junker-290 bomber is the aircraft we admire the most, but we believe that our current deep mountain bomber will definitely be comparable to your bomber." Kenichi Matsumura said.

When they designed the prototype, the only one they could use was Douglas' DC-4 passenger plane. However, many of their projects were aimed at the Juncker-290, which has actually become the most powerful aircraft of this era.

Not only the island country, but also the US B-29 is aimed at this bomber?

Hearing Kenichi Matsumura's words, Rudel nodded and continued: "Engines of this level require at least two thousand horsepower."

His words made Kenichi Matsumura look ugly.

I just said that it can be comparable to the Junker-290, but when it comes to the engine, Kenichi Matsumura will stop. They cannot quickly make up for this shortcoming.

The engine industry in the island country also started shortly, almost all imitated foreign countries.

Although the Nakajima nk9k-l haro24 engine has a power of 2,000 horsepower, it has been 44 years. Now, the only thing they can use is the Mars 12 engine, with a nominal power of only 1,480 horsepower. And when it reaches high altitude, the horsepower will drop to less than 1,000 horsepower because the supercharger is not qualified.

This engine is not qualified. Although it has not yet been tested, everyone knows in their hearts that it may not meet the Navy's 500 km/h design index.

This aircraft only had the 1,870-horsepower Nakajima nk7a 11-14-cylinder star-cooled engine until 1,870 horsepower. Even so, it did not allow the aircraft to meet sufficient design indicators and eventually failed to be put into production.

Engine technology is not as simple as amplification. This is the science of the system. Nakajima Company is mainly responsible for developing engines, and now it cannot produce a qualified power system with 2,000 horsepower.

Looking at Kenichi Matsumura's expression, Rudel secretly scolded himself for talking too much, saying, "What's this for me? I'm just here to be a consultant, not a master." What level do they develop will have to do with me!"

At this moment, the staff officer Gendashi, who was standing by, broke the embarrassment: "Mr. Rudel, we really hope to introduce some engines from you and equip it to our plane."

Why did you bring Rudel here? In fact, the upper class has already given instructions. After all, the Germans have already had such planes, and it is not considered a leak. The technology of the island country is simply not as good as that of the German technology.

Island countries have their own needs.

The Juncker-290 engine is the most suitable mountain bomber for our side, and it will quickly make up for its own shortcomings. Moreover, once this mature engine is available, the bomber will be quickly finalized and produced, and can even catch up with the upcoming war!

Rudel had long regretted it, and he blamed himself for talking too much. Why did he ask this?

The engine of the Juncker-290 is exactly the same as the FW190. Now even Germany's own equipment is not enough, how can it be given to the island country? Rudel thought quickly in his heart, this is definitely not possible!

However, the improved db605 of the other engine, the db601 engine used on the bf109, is completely fine!

Now, with Germany's huge progress in jets, Messerschmitt is steadily transforming into jets. The production of bf109 has long been compressed to almost zero. This is also because the performance of fw190 is much better, and the Air Force is more inclined to purchase fw190.
