Chapter 1371 The second Baku

The Black Sea Fleet was wiped out within one day. This result was not accepted by Stalin anyway, and what was even more terrifying was the series of evil consequences caused by this.

For example, the ports along the Black Sea coast will be attacked by the Germans at any time. The Germans can only set up guns and a burst of bombardment will cause people to collapse.

"We have to make worse plans," said another man. "I don't know if you have noticed that with the change of flags in Turkey, our Azerbaijan region may also face great danger."

When everyone's eyes were attracted by the Western Front and the Black Sea, few people noticed that Azerbaijan actually contained greater risks.

Because, there is the Baku oil field there!

World War I was a positional war, and as long as there were weapons and ammunition, it could be fought. However, World War II was different. The Germans innovatively used tanks to attack, turning this war into a mechanized war.

Whoever has more tanks and strong firepower will win, and there will be a lot of auxiliary equipment around the tank, such as cars, which require a lot of fuel and ammunition.

This war requires oil, but if there is no oil, it will not be won.

The Soviet Union did not have to worry about this, because the Soviet Union had a world-famous oil city.

The Republic of Azerbaijan, the capital of Baku, is a city located on the western coast of the Caspian Sea. It is not only a political and cultural center, but also an important oil base and economic center.

The history here is quite long. As early as the 10th century AD, wells were dug and oil were drawn. The Apchelen Peninsula centered on Baku and its nearby seabed became one of the world's famous oil-producing areas.

However, in the handicraft era, there was not much attention here. It was not until the era of industrial oil extraction in the world that Baku shone brightly.

Azerbaijan had already drilled its first oil well in 1873. At the beginning of the 20th century, the production of the Baku oil field was the highest-produced oil field in the world. In 1901, oil production accounted for almost half of the world's oil production, becoming the industrial center of the South Caucasus and the Russian oil base. Since then, Baku has been famous for its "oil city".

The Baku Oilfield became the world's highest square-producing oilfield, the South Caucasus industrial center and the Russian oil base. At that time, there were a large number of private oil fields, almost all controlled by the United States. Until after the October Revolution, everything was nationalized, and Baku became the most important oil exporting place for the Soviets.

Just a few years ago, the Soviet Union had been exporting oil to Germany.

Now, with the need for war, Baku's oil production has reached its peak, accounting for 71% of the total Soviet output!

In the past, no one realized the risks here and always felt that there was still far from the front line. At most, it was necessary to prevent the Germans from taking off fighter jets in the Middle East and attacking the oil field, so the oil field deployed a large number of anti-aircraft artillery.

It's different now.

With Turkey's turnaround, if the Germans want to attack the Baku oil field, there will be shortcuts to go, and they can take a detour to Türkiye.

At the beginning, after Rommel advanced all the way to Iraq in North Africa, he stopped and did not enter Iran. Of course, it was not that Germany did not want to continue to advance eastward, but that it was unnecessary, because Iran was originally pro-Germany.

The Soviet Union wanted to attack Iran to expand Baku's defense depth. Unfortunately, with the secret support of Germany, the Soviet Union was in a mess.

Although the Soviet Union failed to attack Iran, it was also inconvenient for the Germans to attack Azerbaijan through Iran, because there were mountains everywhere and the German mechanized troops could not be implemented.

Now, if Turkey also becomes a servant of Germany, then Germany will be able to pounce on Azerbaijan from Turkey and Iran. Once Baku is defeated, it is absolutely intolerable to the Soviet Union.

"We must speed up the development of the Second Baku." Stalin put down his pipe and pointed to the map above and said: "Beria, you go and take charge of this place and transfer all the labor prisoners. Within two months, the second Baku will produce more oil in the Baku oil field!"

Hearing this, everyone frowned.

The second Baku, whose real name is the Volga-Ural Oil and Gas Zone, is the second largest oil industrial zone in Western Siberia. It is between the middle reaches of the Volga River and the Ural Mountains, with a total area of 700,000 square kilometers.

As a large oil field with reserves second only to Baku Oilfield at this stage, it is also called the Second Baku.

The history here is also long. Oil seedlings were discovered as early as the 18th century, but industrial development was not started until 1929. Before and after, 800 oil fields and 500 gas fields were discovered one after another. The main oil and gas fields were: Romashkino, Orenburg, and Duimaz.

However, these are just discovered. Since the Baku oil field is enough to support the Soviet oil demand, construction has just been carried out here and the amount of mining is quite low.

Historically, large-scale construction was only started during World War II. After all, the Baku oil field was in danger at that time, and the Soviets had to make new preparations.

It was not until the 20 years from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s that large-scale mining was carried out.

It can be said that it is still a barren land now, and it is definitely a joke to build an oil field that surpasses Baku within two months.

But now, who dares to refute Stalin's words?

Moreover, from a rational point of view, Stalin had a vision.

No matter how much defense is, it is impossible to ensure that the Baku oil field is foolproof. No matter how many anti-aircraft guns are, they cannot stop the bombing of the opponent's bomber. Now Germany just can't make any moves. Once they decide to take action, the Baku oil field will soon be blown away.

Historically, Germany did not dispatch bombers to bomb the Baku oil field. That was because the Germans wanted to obtain the oil here, so how could they bear to blow it up! However, the Soviet Union made preparations. If the place was occupied by the Germans, it would detonate the explosives and blow up the oil field. Even the British were prepared. If the Soviets could not hold on, they could not leave it to the Germans!

Now, Germany has Libyan oil fields and the oil fields with super rich reserves in the Middle East. They don’t look down on Baku at all, and they can explode it if you want to!

Now, the second Baku must be developed as soon as possible.

"Comrade Stalin, I promise to complete the task," said Belia. "We can carry out development, but we lack equipment. Our factory is rushing to build tanks and we cannot make oil equipment for us. There are also a lot of processing equipment. I suggest we contact the United States immediately and hope that the United States will provide these support."

For Belia, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished, it depends on how much the price it pays. Even if half of the labor reform prisoners die, he will have to complete the construction task, but he is powerless to do anything about the equipment.
