Chapter 199 Diesel reconnaissance plane 4)

2.6 million are just the army entering the front line. Germany has begun to mobilize in advance for this war. Many workers on the production line have been transferred into the army, and the vacancy will be supplemented by other personnel. Some women even took up their jobs.

In the rear, Germany is still training at least about 2 million troops. Once needed, they can go to the battlefield at any time and shed their last drop of blood for Germany!

The war is getting closer and closer.

Poznan Air Force Base.

As early as half a year ago, the air force base here had been expanded, with the main runway of more than 2,000 meters. Not only can ordinary fighter jets take off, but even large aircraft take off and land, there is no problem, including big guys like Juncker-390.

Now, at the takeoff end of the runway, a large plane is preparing for the departure.

This large aircraft is somewhat different from the existing aircraft in Germany. Its fuselage is slender and the shape of the wings is a bit special. There are two engines at the roots of both sides of the wings, which drive four-blade propellers. Its cockpit is composed of multiple pieces of glass and has a good field of view.

The tail of the fuselage is a raised tail wing, and there are two vertical tail wings on both sides of the tail wing, which makes it look even more alternative.

Captain Lucas, wearing a full set of flight gear, carried a suitcase in his hand, and brought his crew to the front of the plane.

"Captain, the plane is ready, full of oil and the photographic film are full, and the fully automatic equipment is completely normal." The ground crew member said to him.

Lucas nodded and climbed into the cockpit from the small space under the nose. Behind him, several crew members also boarded the plane one by one.

Turning on each switch, Lucas observed that the instrument data was normal, and then ordered the pilot beside him to start the engine.

"Da, dada..." The engine on one side made the special pump oil sound of the high-pressure oil pump, and black smoke came out of the exhaust pipe, and the propeller turned.

The vibration of this engine is much larger than that of an ordinary aircraft engine. It is not a sound that a gasoline engine can have. It is completely a genuine diesel engine!

Yes, there are still some outliers among German aircraft, such as Lucas, which is an extremely special long-range reconnaissance aircraft, ju-86p.

Judging from the code name, it is very close to the Juncker-88. When this aircraft was developed, it was indeed considered as a bomber. However, now, the improved aircraft has played a huge role in long-distance reconnaissance.

This aero-diesel engine is soaked in the efforts of Dr. Hugo Junckers, the founder of Junckers. As early as 1910, Junckers began to develop lightweight aero-diesel engines based on heavy industrial and marine engines. By 1930, aero-diesel engines could already be practical.

Gasoline engines have high power and are sensitive to response, and are outstanding aerospace power. Almost all aircraft from all countries choose aerospace gasoline engines. However, Junckers has taken a different approach and uses aerospace diesel engines, which also have its advantages.

The fuel consumption rate of diesel engines is quite low. Under the same capacity of oil, the working time of the diesel engine can be more than twice that of the gasoline engine, which can significantly improve the range.

Specifically, when the speed reaches 180 knots, it only consumes 20 gallons of diesel per hour. Historically, when a secondary fuel tank was used, this type of aircraft once traveled to Australia. The total range was 23,335km and the total flight time was 69 flight hours.

In terms of battery life, even Junker-390 is worth it.

Another advantage is that the diesel engine works more stably at low air pressure. When the air is thin at high altitudes, the gasoline engine needs a secondary supercharger to work normally, and the demand for the diesel engine is very low.

Under this idea, Junckers developed the jumo 205 series and the jumo 207 series aero-diesel engine. Unfortunately, the demand for this kind of diesel engine was not high, and it was eventually installed on the Junckers ju 86 aircraft for use, becoming a prominent symbol of the ju 86.

And this kind of aircraft has only one mission, which is to conduct long-distance reconnaissance!

After the engines on both sides started normally, Lucas checked the instruments again. After confirming that there was no problem, he gently released the brakes.

The engines on both sides trembled even more violently, the propeller flew around, and the ju-86p began to slide on the runway.

The diesel engine has a large torque but insufficient power. Now the engines on both sides can only burst out 1,000 horsepower, which makes the aircraft's acceleration not smooth.

The reconnaissance plane, full of fuel, barely pulled up almost in the middle of the runway, and then began to continue climbing slowly.

One hundred meters, two hundred meters, five hundred meters, one thousand meters... On the altimeter, it has shown that ten thousand meters has reached. In this era, this has been the ceiling of many high-altitude fighter jets.

However, for this reconnaissance aircraft, it is not high enough!

It is still climbing up slowly.

Ten thousand, ten thousand, ten thousand, ten thousand... When it climbed to 14,000 meters, it finally leveled.

Yes, it’s only 14,000 meters. Even at the end of World War II, only the Ta-152 fighter can reach the altitude!

At such an altitude, the ju-86p reconnaissance aircraft is absolutely safe, so this aircraft does not carry any weapons, and does not even have a turret at the tail. Its kingly survival is height!

In later generations, whether it is the u-2 or the sr-71 black bird, their way of survival will fly higher!

After the leveling, the diesel engine was finally reduced in power. At this time, the engine temperature was already very high.

The diesel engine is running smoothly, and at this height, it does not feel the lack of oxygen in the air.

Finally, the plane stabilized at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour and started this long flight.

Go east, fly over the border, fly over Belarus, fly over Moscow, and fly all the way to the Ural Mountains. Along the way, you have to take thousands of reconnaissance photos for use in the rear.

Over the years, the relationship between Germany and the Soviet Union has been getting better and worse, and as a soldier of the empire, he has taken obeying orders as his duty. Therefore, Lucas has no psychological pressure at all in this kind of reconnaissance flight.

Even the Soviets could not find them at all. The Soviets of this era had not yet developed mature and reliable radars!

Time passed by little by little, and they flew past Warsaw, opposite the airspace that already belonged to the Soviet Union.

"Navigator, please note that in Warsaw, we need to take more photos of the deployment of the Soviets here." Lucas said: "Check our camera equipment and prepare for work!"

The hatch door in the middle of the fuselage opened, and inside, several high-precision aerial cameras began to prepare before taking pictures.
