Chapter 179: Deeply tap the potential of tank guns

As a traverser, Cialek certainly knows the importance of aircraft carriers. If you look closely, you can find that the current German aircraft carrier is not just a beveled deck, but even the location of steam catapults has been reserved on the deck. In Germany, there are already special scientific research institutions that have begun to conduct catapult experiments. Their goal is to accelerate aircraft weighing more than ten tons to a high enough speed.

Nowadays, ordinary heavy fighter jets are only four or five tons. This ten-ton target is of course prepared for future jets.

However, in terms of external affairs, Germany is quite low-key. The aircraft carriers are almost silent in service. A large number of escort aircraft carriers have been continuously added to the active service and organized into a huge maritime fleet.

At the same time, Germany is constantly hyping up the battleships that the specific data of its own 70,000-ton warships will be leaked. The number of cannon range and armor-piercing capabilities can be sent to the sea as many kilometers as possible.

Of course this is for fooling!

To fool the Americans, let the Americans join a new round of military competition, completely dragging down the United States in the construction of such battleships!

The United States is not as good as Germany. Now, Germany has integrated European resources and has a large number of North Africa and the Middle East colonies. Germany is no longer the Germany in history!

If Germany still has any disadvantages now, it is the population. This population problem needs time to solve.

Now, what Chirik is most concerned about is the war against the Soviet Union. The 40 years are about to end. In the spring of 41, the German army will complete all mobilization and fight to Moscow in one go!

On this day, Cirick came to Krupp Company and inspected his own Tiger tank.

Gustav has become the boss of the hand. After all, he is old and has limited energy. Now the helm of Krupp is Alfred Krupp.

The two met very early. When they were in India, they had a happy cooperation, and it was also when Cirick and Hannah met.

Now, as the helmsman of the Krupp family, Alfred is busy with all kinds of things every day and contributes his youth to the empire.

"We are continuing to work hard to increase the production of Tiger tanks and dig deep into the potential of 88mm tank guns. At the same time, we are also developing the next generation of tank guns." Alfred said.

In fact, several companies, such as Henschel, are producing Tiger tanks, while Krupp is mainly responsible for producing Tiger turrets and cannons. At the same time, the pre-research for the next generation of tank guns is also underway.

Obviously, this is also the normal reaction after seeing the new Soviet tanks at this military parade.

In fact, whether it is the KV-2 or the Stalin tank, they all have a strong patchwork style. The short-barrel 152mm howitzer and 122mm tank gun are not suitable for tank installation. However, the Soviets did this, which put a lot of pressure on the German side.

German Tiger tanks must have absolute advantages, which puts a lot of pressure on many people.

This pressure has become motivation.

"The sub-caliber armor-piercing projectiles we have developed for 88mm tank guns, which once penetrated 200mm armor during the test firing, are still being optimized. However, we have decided to shape the next generation of tank guns to 105mm caliber."

Last time, it was Cialek's suggestion that using a bullet holder can easily solve the problem of air tightness. At the same time, due to the slenderness of the armor-piercing bomb, the armor-piercing ability has been greatly improved.

Historically, Germany liked to brush lengths, which led to the production of tank guns being unable to increase. Now, under the suggestion of Cialek, they finally started a new caliber choice.

105mm, a caliber that was quite famous in later generations, almost ruled NATO for decades!

"According to your requirements, we are overcoming various difficulties in electroslag-re-fusion steel. Once this excellent steel matures, we can greatly improve the performance of our tank guns." Alfred reported to Cialick about his working direction in recent times.

Krupp also has R&D tasks. Advanced cannons require high-quality steel, and the most advanced ones in tank guns are electric slag remelting steel.

As the name suggests, this smelting method is to use the metal that has been refined through general smelting methods as electrodes, and through a strong current, the metal heats up and undergoes secondary remelting. The electrodes are melted into the slag pool, and the liquid metal crystallization at the bottom of the slag pool forms an ingot, which is the electroslag remelting steel.

Remelting of electroslag is secondary purification and better crystallization. Simply put, it is to further reduce harmful elements such as sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen and obtain basically consistent particle crystals.

This technique was historically the first to propose the principle of this refining method in the 1940s. Now, Americans have not thought of this method yet, and Germany has begun to try it.

The principle of this method is simple, but the control in the middle is quite complicated. In later China, electroslag remelting steel was everywhere, but most of the smelted were low-quality steel, and the quality of the product was quite unstable.

There were various computer controls in later generations, but now it was only workers who could rely on their own experience, which required accumulation. Once this steel matured and used to make tank guns, it would definitely bring about a complete transformation.

Simply put, the chamber pressure can be increased, the charge can be increased, and the tank gun will not explode. Of course, the performance of the tank gun can be improved without changing the caliber.

In later generations, the British 17 tank gun was simply NATO's standard tank gun, which was absolutely inseparable from the electric slag heavy steel, and the other was the self-tightening and chrome plating of the gun body.

Perhaps this 105mm tank gun was not used throughout the war, and the performance of the 88mm tank gun was enough to dig deep into it. However, if there were more abnormal opponents, Germany had technical reserves and could take them out at any time.

There must be no situation where the tanker shouts that he cannot penetrate it. This is simply the crime of the technicians in the rear!

Regarding the development of tank guns, Cialick continued to make some suggestions. After the project report of tank guns was completed, Alfred then reported to Cialick for the second project: "After our continuous efforts, we have now successfully developed an alumina ceramic armor, which has better bulletproof performance at the same weight than our current nickel alloy armor."
