Chapter 41 Cunning

A few months ago, Valed had seen the power of these undead creatures. In the defense battle of the Dekenhof Castle, these laughing spirit-bound monsters took the general's heads from the Ten Thousand Horse Army as if they were taking objects. The waving sickles, the lateral ghost war horses and the green ghost fire in their eyes left a deep impression on Valed.

In this battle, Vared sent ten spirit-binding monsters under his command, as well as thirty even worse corpse monsters in the stone tomb. He thought to himself: "It must be no problem."

However, here, Vared made an empirical mistake. This time he was facing him, not the Stryg Rebels who were extremely poor. Instead, an imperial wizard with an entire battle sequence, an unknown number of artillery, a Sigma combat priest, a witch hunter, a special mercenary and even other elite troops.

Perhaps the morale of ordinary soldiers in this army was slightly worse, but the elites still maintained a considerable combat effectiveness - whether it was the witch hunter, the combat priest or the imperial wizard, they were the strongest warriors, and this small setback could not shake them.

Therefore, the subsequent development was much beyond his expectations. A group of human warriors wearing high-tube hats, leather jackets, leather pants, and high-heeled horse boots suddenly rushed out of the crowd, holding a long-tube pistol and aiming them at the corpse monsters.

Only a gunshot was heard, and the spirit-binding monsters who were being taken care of were wailing. The hit part seemed to have been splashed with strong acid.

After a round of gunfire, these specially-dressed human warriors drew out a narrow stinging sword and attacked the corpse monsters. Although the stinged corpse monsters had been transformed into spirits, they still ate this move firmly. The corpse monsters who were suffering from pain roared angrily and waved their sickles to cut these humans into both ends, but they were nimble and dodged by these human warriors. Then there was another round of gun and sword attack. During this round of attack, a spirit-bound demon finally fell down with unwillingness.

"It's a witch hunter!" Vared was shocked. These elite soldiers who can effectively kill the undead in small battles but cannot participate in large-scale combat are indeed the best candidates to block. The opponent's commander hid these soldiers in the square formation of the main legion and then came out just in time, as if he had expected everything Vared could do.

"Constantine... is indeed a very good opponent." Valed finally raised a little interest. Fight against excellent opponents, mobilize all their energy and wisdom, and try his best to defeat the opponent - this is the life that a soldier should have, right?!

The city gate of the city gate suddenly opened. Several undead companies, which had been fully armed, ran out at the fastest speed, while maintaining their formation unshakable - and at the same time, Vared, who was standing on the city gate, waved his arms slightly and his fingers swung rapidly. Sixteen magic gestures, together with a string of secret words, an ominous black light instantly enveloped the undead army, making them move forward a little faster!

"Are you finally unable to hold it back?! Shoot!"

Standing on the Huntian Divine Chariot and seeing a large number of undead sneering slightly, Duke Constantine drew out a stern, then drew out his sword and slashed downward. The large number of musketeers who were arranged at the forefront of the army, as well as two hell multi-barrel rocket launchers (nine-barrel series, weapons that fired black powder rockets) immediately started shooting after hearing the order.

Accompanied by loud noises and gunpowder, the iron-packed rockets pushed by gunpowder exploded between the skeleton soldiers, and the entire square formation suddenly became a hollow. Large areas of skeleton soldiers were blown into pieces.

The large muskets of those musketeers - or the large lead balls fired by the hand mortar cannons are also quite lethal. If you hit the skull head-on, you will be smashed to pieces, hit the armor on the chest, and you will also be broken by the ribs and even the spine. If you hit the limbs, you will definitely be disabled.

"The lethality is quite good. The most important thing is that you can ignore the magic barrier... and the effect of the physical defense barrier is not enough. The development of the 'shield' in this world is uneven."

Seeing the heavy casualties of the undead soldiers in the front row of his side, Valed thought about it and became more determined to develop gunpowder weapons. In fact, before this, a batch of imperial cannons seized from General Tarik and a batch of cannons obtained from the surprise attack on the Black Fire Pass were all properly kept and waiting for post-war research. It won't take long before the undead will be able to obtain brand new long-range fire support.

Besides, on the battlefield, the undead troops were shattered by the attack of gunpowder weapons. "But it's not over yet." Vared sneered, watching the opponent's soldiers launch attacks after a round of volleys, and couldn't help thinking like this.

Sure enough, after two rounds of muskets were fired and the rockets were all bombed out, the Principality of Ive launched a large-scale charge - the great swordsmen of the Empire roared, and launched an assault on the unstable and broken undead troops - and then rushed into the air!

The undead companies with broken formations at the front suddenly scattered "Karakera" into pieces all over the ground. The ancient tomb guards with neatly arranged square arrays were exposed behind their array - heavy crossbows in front and long halberds behind!

"I've been fooled!"

As Duke Constantine couldn't help but blurted out a surprise shout. It was a round of steel-arm crossbow volleys from the tomb guards. The steel crossbow arrow, which had already attached three magical effects of armor-breaking, sharp and bursting, pierced the outermost steel plate armor of the opponent without any mercy, the tough leather armor on the innermost side, and the silk shirt on the innermost side, and then burst, blowing the opponent's chest into a pile of rotten flesh...

Then, the ancient tomb guards holding long halberds launched a counter-charge. The black tomb guards swept across the opponent's array like dark clouds, sweeping over the long halberds and slashing violently. In a blink of an eye, the offensive and defensive forces of both sides called out, and hundreds of swordsmen were on the battlefield. The ancient tomb guards suffered only dozens of losses!

Duke Constantine's way of using troops was completely different from General Tarik who had fought against Vared before. Compared with the heavy, cautious, and defensive tactics, Duke Constantine's way of using troops was more cunning and offensive. This was the intelligence obtained by Vared.

Judging from the previous attack method of the opponent's bombardment - combat mage - bombardment - great swordsman, this evaluation is very correct. Therefore, after a brief surprise, Valed came up with corresponding response measures. What Duke Constantine of Ivey will face is an opponent who is more cunning, more offensive, with better tactical literacy and command ability than him - Valed von Castein!
