Chapter 13 Wish

Where Havlicek lives, there is a highway that runs across it, and to the south is a parallel route 9. In Lansing, where he grew up, the gate of the grocery store that opened downstairs in his home is a route 40.

When Wei Xia entered the old time for the third time (not the time when he played the game), he found that Haflicek's home was built on a curve, with the front door only 10 to 12 feet away from the highway. The whole house was shaken when the truck passed by at night.

For safety reasons and financial reasons, Haflicek's parents did not fulfill his wish - to buy him a bicycle.

Since there was no bicycle, Haflicecke could only move with his heels on other bicycle-riding playmates. Fortunately, the elementary school he attended was in the next block, opposite the church, and traffic was not a problem. However, when traveling with other nearby children and playing basketball, Haflicecke could only run with all his strength to catch up with these bicycle-riding companions. Among them, except for his elder brother Field, who was five years older than him, he was born on April Fool's Day in 1939. Phil Nickro, who was one year older than him, was closest to him, and the two people of similar age grew up together.

Wei Xia found that their entertainment programs were extremely poor.

Fishing, playing squirrels, and hitting butterfly balls. The first sport that Haflicek learned was not basketball, but baseball. Perhaps it was because he played baseball since he was a child, and later he passed the ball very skillfully on the basketball court.

When he came to the old time for the sixth time, Wei Xia discovered the secret of Havlicek's positional battles that he could always find the secret of position entry and cut out.

Haflicecke and Nickro are inseparable, but the only time they are separated is when Field and Nickro, who are four years younger than him, drive a bicycle.

Lansing is a small town in the Ohio Valley. Highway 40 built along Wyoming Creek is the low point of the valley. Therefore, when you open the door, you will see that Havlicek on Highway 40 is equivalent to living at the lowest point of the town. No matter where you want to go, you have to go through the test of "attacking the hill".

Wei Xia was fortunate to attack those hills as Havlicek himself, and he felt that he benefited a lot from being in it.

Since he had to catch up with his companions, he had to abandon the regular road and instead took shortcuts from the woods to run to the hills to save time. This was also the private space of Havlicek. When he was under the hill, he liked to deviate from the paths in the woods and play dodge games, trying his best to dodge possible obstacles such as trees, rocks and roots with various fake actions, and often fell and was covered in injuries.

Wei Xia first discovered that what she experienced in childhood would have such a profound impact on Haflicek's life more than ten years later.

A few months later, Wei Xia discovered that what he did in his dream had a significant change in his body.

His physical strength is getting better and stronger, his muscles and bones are growing at a rate beyond his imagination.

Wei Xia still couldn't understand the "old time".

He didn't know what that was, nor did he know what the mystery was. He only knew that as soon as he fell asleep, he could feel the time around him regress and return to the past with his consciousness.

Finally one day, he realized that he might have the talent of Haflicek.

In the next year, Wei Xia rose by 12 cm, which was still very short for high school students, but the altitude of 171 cm is completely different from the 159 cm small pudding.

The coaching staff found that he had increased his height and did not slow down, his agility became stronger, and his physical strength was increasing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

In the first training session of the tenth grade, head coach Grigg Donner promoted Weisha from the reserve team to the first team.

It was the happiest day in his life.

I heard that he was selected for the first team, Mei Chen made a cake that looked ugly but delicious to celebrate.

Wei Xia is still far from becoming a star in high school basketball. He still doesn't know whether he can enter the NBA like Kobe, but he can vaguely feel that everything is changing in a good direction.

He represented Raul Merion in the Pennsylvania 4A High School Championships as a main player.

Wei Xia's first game for the Ace was a substitute, and Greg Donner put him in the second position.

The 171 cm second position is placed in the professional arena, like O'Neal waiting for you to foul. He is sorry that he dares to score the 2nd position with 171 cm.

High school competitions are completely different concepts.

Although Wei Xia is only 171 cm tall, he is not afraid of confrontation. In a year, he has developed a body of iron through the transformation of "old times". He cuts in inward in positional battles and can run to the front court like an arrow from the string during the rotation and counterattack, and can also drive the ball to push the counterattack by himself.

The most distinctive feature of American high school competitions is fast.

There are only 8 minutes in a quarter, and there is little time to fall down to fight the position, and the style of the game is casual, so there are many people who attack with the ball.

This will cause a large number of defensive rebounds to rush up the energetic kids.

"If Felix can continue to grow taller, he can transform into the second and third positions." Kub Kiefer commented after watching Weisha's first high school game, "He has the instinct to use running to cut the defense."

In the eyes of coach Donner, Wei Xia's biggest advantage is not his ball-holding, not his cutting, but his defense.

It is not easy to have a height of only 171 cm but can defend the opponent's three positions of the outside line.

In his high school debut, Wei Xia scored 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

In the next ten games, he became the sixth man on the Ace.

Among them, in the highly anticipated civil war in the Lower Merion school district, Raul Merion vs. Harriton, Wei Xia appeared two minutes after the start of the game, and then played the remaining 30 minutes. Under the witness of his parents, he blocked the core of Harriton High School, destroyed the opponent's pass 8 seconds before the end of the game, and rushed to the frontcourt in one dragon to complete the first final kill in his life.

Just as he was about to turn around and put on a POSS, the alumni on the scene had already submerged him. He was ate tofu by many people. About ten girls gave him a kiss, of course he didn't mind.

That finale appeared in "Philadelphia Daily Experience".

For the first time, some people called Wei Xia "Wish".

The title is the remarkable "Next Kobe Bryant? Ace Rising Star Wish wins Harriton!".

From that goal, Wei Xia was no longer "Felix" in the eyes of others, but "Wish".

At first he didn't like this nickname because it was a misreading.

An unemployed reporter read "WeiXia" as "Wish". A work mistake that was wrong and wrong became the nickname that accompanied Wei Xia for the rest of his life.
