rose, messenger and invisible academy 3
The Witmu River turns in the fields behind St. Wolflam Church and flows quietly to the south.
Anne led William into a dense forest and walked through the mottled green sea of lush branches and leaves. The woodland stretched towards the hills in the northeast and eventually connected with the forest on the other side of the mountain.
It was late spring, and the amazing bluebell flowers spread out in the forest like dense carpets. The ferns were also flourishing, and ripe blackberries hung on the branches, attracting squirrels and birds to compete for food. The low singing of the gray owl came from the deep dense forest, making the surroundings look quiet and distant.
"Are you sure this is the right direction?"
They gradually entered the lush and tall woods, and the thick shade covered the sky and shadows. William was still skeptical about Anne's words: "He never lets you follow you, how did you know where he has been?"
"Valley Lilies," the little girl showed a smug look. She rarely had the opportunity to show off her botanical knowledge in front of others. "They can only be found on the hills northeast of Grantham. Several times Isaac came back from meeting those people, and the pollen of the Valley Lilies on her trousers were stained with."
William nodded in a slight sense, and couldn't help but look at the crying man with admiration. He caught up with the jumping back: "You didn't say just now, how did they get Isaac away? If they were to kidnap me, I would definitely cry and make a fuss, yelling, and make sure that everyone in the town could hear it."
"What they might have said to him. When Isaac came back, he seemed to have made a great decision to burn a lot of the manuscripts he had saved before." Annie also frowned and rushed to the road quickly, making her panting. "He asked me to go to the cabinet to find something for him, and then locked me up..."
"No, it was him who showed up with them." William was very sure of his speculation. "He didn't want to do this with them anymore. Today is the last time, and he will leave here after the end-" He saw Annie's face with a confused and nervous look, and suddenly realized that his expression might not look good either, "Because my uncle gave him a letter before leaving, inviting Isaac to him!"
"But……"
"But those people are absolutely unwilling to let go of this money tree." William gritted his teeth and whispered.
From childhood to adulthood, he has seen too many stories about his family betrayal and his relatives and refuse to recognize his relatives because of his family property. Human beings seem to never be able to resist the temptation of gold.
"But those people are absolutely unwilling to let this money tree go." William gritted his teeth and whispered, "He is in trouble."
From childhood to adulthood, he has seen too many stories of people betrayal of relatives and disagreement due to family property disputes. Human beings seem to never be able to resist the temptation of gold.
William suddenly understood why Isaac had to go back to the attic to burn the manuscript - only in this way can he ensure his own life safety. The original method could not make what those people wanted, and the adjusted formula now only exists in Isaac's head. He still has value.
It's like walking on a dangerous wire, and accidentally falling into pieces will fall to pieces.
The sun was tilted, and they had reached the secluded forest far away from the town. Anne soon found traces of the valley lily in the grass: "Come here. Look, there are footprints!"
Not only footprints, but also marks of horse hooves stepping on. It was drizzling in the early morning, and there was still water remaining in the mud nest in the shape of horseshoes.
"Time is right." The two children exchanged glances with each other, and William nodded thoughtfully, "Isaac went out before dawn, and it hadn't started raining yet."
Following the remaining footprints, they went deeper into the jungle. The sky was dim and hard to be clear, making people lose their perception of time without realizing it.
They walked around the woods for a few times, and just as William was about to think he had lost his way, the sound of footsteps and the man's low and hoarse coughing sounded on the other side of the bushes.
Someone was patrolling. Annie pulled him down and hid in a dense holly bush.
Through the gaps in the leaves, they saw a tall man wearing a gray-black monk's robe approaching. His face was hidden under a long-beaked bird mask made of sterling silver, and the outline of the material dangling in the robe, it looked like a walking giant bird from a distance, gloomy and weird.
The gray coat swept through their hidden holly bushes, and was caught by the branches, causing the man to pause.
William heard his heart pounding, as if he was about to jump out of his throat and fall to the ground. Anne had already been nervous to grab his arm, and his fingernails were pinching into the flesh to form small crescent moons. If it were normal, his cry of pain could have been directly transmitted to the town of Grantham, which shocked the doves on the top of St. Woolflam Church.
Fortunately, the man did not notice them. He cursed vaguely, pulled the hooked clothes with brute force, and pulled them off roughly.
London accent. William keenly recognized the man's accent - it seemed that this was one of the uninvited guests who came to visit. He gestured to Anne to silence, patted the little girl on the shoulder, and helped her calm down.
This man is irritable, but he acts very cautiously. He has to stop and inspect every two steps. Following and following is not an easy task.
William weighed the trade-offs and was undecided.
But he had no chance to make a choice, and the fishy smell of the beast's saliva interrupted his thoughts. Neither he nor Anne noticed the hound quietly approaching behind him.
The barking of dogs and sharp crying of children erupted in the quiet deep forest.
