Chapter Confused Views
The square was in a strange silence at this time. The originally aggressive memorial team was defeated in the face of the rebuttal and questioning of the little emperor, and was waiting in panic. But where the ending would go, people were still watching, and the famous scholars and scholars did not take action.
"It's snowing!" A scream seemed to wake people from their reverie. People looked up at the sky and saw tiny ice particles floating in the gloomy sky, scattering to the earth under the blowing of the north wind, and in an instant it turned into a cold drizzle again.
"It's great!" Zhao Bing stretched out his hand and a crystal clear snowflake fell on his palm. It had turned into a drop of crystal water droplets without looking closely. A naughty smile appeared on his face, and he stuck out his tongue and licked the water droplets in his palm under the attention of thousands of people. Only then did people realize that the little emperor in front of him was just a young man who was only eighteen years old.
"Your Majesty!" At this moment, a student of the Imperial Court saw an inner court official coming hurriedly with a volume of documents and presented them to the little emperor.
"Yes!" Zhao Bing opened the document, took out one of the documents and read it, and looked at a gentleman below and said, "Sun Yuan, I'm sorry, I have too much business and can't remember your case for a while, so I ordered someone to find the relevant case file. This is your confession, with your sign and handprints on it. Do you agree?"
"Your Majesty, it's... it's the villain!" The little emperor suddenly asked, which made Sun Yuan, who was already frightened, very nervous. He was three or four meters away from the little emperor, and he couldn't see the small flies on the paper clearly, but after hesitating, he admitted.
"Let him read it carefully, don't be suspicious!" Zhao Bing seemed to see his doubts, handed the confession to the little yellow gate beside him, and asked him to pass it to Sun Yuan for careful identification.
"Your Majesty, there is no need, it's the villain!" Sun Yuan waved his hands repeatedly when he saw this.
"Since you have no objection, I have seen it. This case is a case that the villagers asked you for land that was sent to you under your name and provided for the forged documents at that time. You also admitted that the villagers sent land to their name to evade the taxes of the court. Therefore, there is a local official to sentence you to return the land to the villagers, and it is not wrong to follow the law. Why did you enter the capital and claim that this was a move by the court to despise the gentry and suppress the scholars?" Zhao Bing asked.
"The villain is confused!" Sun Yuan knew that he had admitted his crime and refused to admit his crime, and had no way out. He suddenly knelt down and said, "Your Majesty, the villain is resentful to the villagers for returning the land, but he will never dare to be dissatisfied with the imperial court. This time he entered the capital because someone instigated him that the imperial court implemented the "integrated tax on gentry" to be the root cause of the villagers for returning the land. Only by admonishing the court can the court change its mind, otherwise it will be more severely suppressing the gentry in the future and there will be no way to survive!"
"Oh, so that's it, get up!" Zhao Bing looked at the gentry behind him and asked again, "Are you the one who came to the capital to advise him as he thought?"
"Your Majesty, villains, etc. are all, not intentionally resisting the court and violating the edict!" Other gentry were like Sun Yuan, worried that Your Majesty would ask one by one, but the people watching on the scene did not support what they did. With this excuse, they quickly climbed down to get a clear idea.
"Well! I just said that people have good and evil, so do gentry." Zhao Bing said in the previous volume, "Taizu made an oath to treat scholars well in his founding country. For hundreds of years, all dynasties have followed this oath, and have preferential treatment with gentry, reduced taxes and exempted corvee labor, which lasted for a hundred years. However, some evil gentry used this to seek personal gain and tempted villagers to place their land in their own name, evaded national taxes, evaded corvee labor, paid tenant rent to them, and sought huge benefits from it."
The little yellow party serving next to him did smile on his lips. The little emperor was really good at using flowers and wood to move flowers and wood. The confessions of those gentry were all stored in the Ministry of Justice, and there was no such thing as in the palace. The Ministry of Justice wanted to find the documentary of these people from the mountains of books and seas of writing. However, the emperor also needed props to make the show, so the documentary presented only had words written on the home page, and the rest were white paper.
The little emperor was the first to be snatched up. With no word in his hand, he could tell the details of the three leaders with memory, and he had already shocked a group of gentry. Later, he took the piece of waste paper written by him and fooled Sun Yuan. In fact, as long as he was a little bolder, he would reveal his feelings when he took it. But even if the little emperor was sure that he would not dare to read it, he would let him attack himself with a fake shot, but this calmness and confidence could be achieved by someone.
"As we all know, the court wants to raise troops to defend the country, build water conservancy, build bridges and roads, and provide relief to disaster victims, etc., all the things needed come from the tax collected. However, those bad gentry abandon the national interests for their own selfish interests, or tempt or force the occupation of civilian land, and the annexed land is connected to the prefectures and towns. The people who lost the land become tenants or refugees. The taxes lost to half of the country have to be increased to maintain the operation of the court, and the taxes evaded by bad gentry have to be passed on to other people." Zhao Bing said.
"The tax is heavy, the people complain, the people live in misery, hate the court to implement harsh policies, and scold the emperor as a fool. There are naturally the faults of the king and the court, but the root cause is that the evil gentry uses the emperor's good intentions to do evil, which makes Taizu's kindness to treat scholars a disaster that harms the country and the people. The reason why I implemented the taxation of the gentry this time was to eliminate harsh policies, relieve the suffering of the people, and make the people in the world."
As soon as Zhao Bing finished speaking, the whispers suddenly arose in the crowd. After a moment of whispering, they became loudly discussed, and then pointed the finger at the gentry present. They accused them of being betrayal, selfish, and full of benevolence, but they were full of traitors and morality. They used the emperor's kindness to do things, and caused His Majesty to be unkind and the court to be unrighteous, and they were the root cause of the world.
Faced with the fierce accusations and scoldings of countless people, these gentry had no place to escape, nowhere to hide, nowhere to hide, no way to defend, and dared not argue. They could only cover their faces with their sleeves, gathered together and shivered, worried that they would be beaten to death by the angry people. The students also looked at each other in a blink of an eye, and their allies became public enemies of the country, and the people would also think about where they were, and they would place them.
"Long live my wise emperor, long live, long live, long live!" Suddenly, someone in the crowd knelt down and shouted long live.
"Long live, long live, long live!"
"Long live, long live, long live!" The shouts gradually changed from small to large, and the number of participants gradually spread to the entire square, and the sound of mountains echoed everywhere, resounding throughout the capital.
"A country cannot prosper without virtue, and a person cannot stand without virtue." At this time, someone escaped from the crowd and said loudly while walking, "Your Majesty establishes the Taoist rule and cultivates the way of sages and kings within and outside, and then the world will be peaceful!"
Zhao Bing knew a few people. They were the so-called famous scholars and scholars in Jiangnan, headed by Chen Pu, and those behind were Fang Feng, Deng Mu and others. A Confucian shirt was fluttering, with his head held high and his chest held high, as if he was full of righteousness and invincible. In his opinion, he looked very good, and of course he was also very confusing. As expected, as soon as they came out, they quickly became the new focus, and the voices of the mountain gradually became less and less popular.
"Who are you waiting for? The emperor must not be arrogant!" A little yellow gate stepped forward and scolded.
"I am Chen Shangde, Shitang, and I advised all the students of the great masters to make Zhu Li's study a national study, educate the world; practice the way of the sage king, calm the people, and pacify the world!" Chen Pu bowed to the top.
"Oh, it turns out it's Mr. Shitang. Why are you still stranded in the capital?" Zhao Bing seemed to be unaware of it. After a while, he finally realized it.
"Your Majesty, sir is a great master of Confucianism, a master of Neo-Confucianism, and a model of scholars all over the world. The students in the capital sincerely tried to stay, so they stayed in the capital to teach their studies." Seeing that the famous scholars finally came forward, Zhang Ruifeng also became alive and told the superiors.
"Rareless, the capital is a place where great talents in the world gather. How dare I call the master? Don't talk nonsense!" Chen Pu shook his sleeves and said. Zhang Ruifeng did not dare to speak anymore, bowed and retreated aside.
"Mr. Shitang has a plan to govern the country and ensure the world, so please give me advice!" Zhao Bing waved his hand and asked Xiaohuangmen to retreat aside, looking at him for advice "sincerely" and cursed in his heart, saying, "I really think I'm a fool, your master and apprentice sang a double act in front of me, so I wonder who you are?
"The Book of Changes says: The sages use the teachings of the divine way to help the world be convinced." Chen Puluo gave a ritual to the Tao, "In ancient times, those who wanted to make clear virtues of the world first govern the country; those who wanted to dominate the country first, they would first consolidate their families; those who wanted to dominate their families first cultivate their bodies; those who wanted to dominate their bodies should first correct their hearts; those who wanted to correct their hearts should first be sincere in their intentions; those who wanted to do their intentions should first make their knowledge..."
Zhao Bing listened to his talk and felt chilling. What he was talking about was just the way of "the sage inside and the king outside". He started listening to the explanations and learning from several masters at the age of five. If his familiarity is not as good as that of the country, he dare not say it in the same way as the flowing country, and he would be much more exciting than the one he said. But at this time he did not interrupt, but watched his performance.
After many years of teaching, coupled with modern understanding, Zhao Bing knew that in Chinese philosophy, no matter which school or any school, they thought they were talking about the "way of the inner sage and the outer king". This is also a basic proposition of traditional Confucianism, namely "the inner sage and the outer king". The origin of the so-called "the inner sage and the outer king" is to cultivate oneself and be a virtuous person; the origin of the so-called "the outer king" is to manage the family, govern the country, and pacify the world.
He also knew that all the "inner sages and outside kings" were actually based on a hypothesis: self-cultivation can lead to a saint, and saints can become kings. In fact, scholars who are committed to academics and managers who are committed to real interests originally require different talents and environments, and they must divide the labor and then cooperate. If the two are confused and oppose the necessary social division of labor, it is a confused view.
The misfortune of history is precisely the assumption that the "inner sage and king's way" is just an unrealistic fantasy that cannot withstand practical experience. This unrealistic fantasy of "inner sage and king's outside" and the vicious expansion of the concept of "studying and good at being an official" not only interprets as "confucianism and Taoism", disrupts academic research, but also poisons Chinese education, leading everyone to study for the "outer king"...
