Chapter 13 Mutiny (End)

(The fourth myth ends like this, otherwise I would have to take the initiative to inject money into the water hole, and the ending will be revealed later.)

"In August 1917, the German naval god Heidi Silem, who could no longer find a rival in the ocean that occupied 70% of the surface area of the planet, finally couldn't stand the loneliness of the master and focused on the land he had never conquered before.

At dusk on August 5, he led more than 6,000 naval sailors composed of the Ocean Fleet ships, Wilhelmshaven coastal artillery, naval base garrison troops and some civilian personnel to leave the warships and coastline, and went all the way deep into the inland, defeated and recaptured Berlin, guarded by the elite German army, and accomplished what millions of elite soldiers and generals in Britain, France and Russia had dreamed of but could never do it."

Almost ninety years after the Berlin Mutiny, Sassu and Zhang Qian specially set up a chapter of more than 20,000 words in their "Exploration of the History of the World Navy" written by them, describing in detail the rare alternative wars in modern world history.

In the chapter "Admiral's Attack on Berlin", Sassu and Zhang Qian's styles are funny and humorous, but in 1917, the officers and soldiers who actually participated in this war had completely different emotions.

At that time, every naval officer and soldier were under tremendous mental pressure because they were facing the 100-match Army that the Germans were proud of. Although the bankruptcy of the quick battle in 1914 more or less affected the reputation of the German Army, it is undeniable that the German Army is still the best army on the planet, no doubt about it!

The naval sailors on the offensive side cannot and dare not expect that the elite army with deep background and combat experience will make major mistakes in simple defensive operations.

The actual situation did not exceed the imagination of the navy. On the road to the city of Berlin, the staff officers of the Supreme Command turned a blind eye to the outside world. They only worked very hard to put their rigor and rigidity to the pinnacle according to their duties, and designed the Berlin defense line that navy could only look up to.

Under the command of Ludendorf's confidant general, the rebels used Berlin's terrain and buildings to defend layer by layer on the main roads according to the design drawings of the General Staff. These defense lines theoretically have no dead ends of shooting, wide shooting range, reasonable combination of light and heavy weapons, sufficient defense depth, and each defense line is equipped with a certain amount of counterattack force. No matter how the soldiers resist the civil war, the generals who have no retreat have made up their minds to fight an active defensive battle based on steady defense.

In the southwest suburbs of Berlin, the army's hedgehog-shaped defense line gave unparalleled pressure to naval personnel who lacked land combat experience and land combat mental preparation. When the Navy Sailors used the infiltration assault tactics invented by Rudendolf to attack the Army's defense line, the tactical actions of the naval soldiers were deformed, and many soldiers directly showed symptoms of mild nausea and dizziness.

The offensive and defensive battles in the southwest suburbs of Berlin lasted for more than an hour. The army guarding the first line of defense refused to give way and did not respond directly to Wang Heidi's call to "The Germans do not fight the Germans." However, in actual combat, Wang Heidi still felt that the army was reserved during defense.

However, even the Navy sailors, who had a terrible land combat literacy, still paid the heavy price of more than 300 officers and soldiers being killed and more than 400 officers and soldiers being injured.

Looking at the long journey under the darkness of the night, the navy not only felt the strong strength of the army, but also unconsciously felt fear and despair.

Perhaps in this late night, the only thing that deserves the naval sailors to relax their vigilance was that General Hoffmann finally convinced his men to attack Berlin. The forces used by the Berlin rebels to defend the southwest side would inevitably be even more stretched due to the great purge, the Workers' Party guerrillas and the counter-rebellion army outside Berlin.

The Navy Sailors continued to move forward in a daze, and no one expected the terrifying Marine War to undergo dramatic changes in front of the second line of defense.

I don’t know if it was the navy’s “no fear of death” that interrupted the rhythm of the army’s defense. Or if there was a problem within the army. In short, the army stationed on the second line of defense were unwilling to fight from beginning to end. The navy had a simple charge, and the army soldiers who fired their guns to the sky retreated to the rear with the officers in their arms.

After the second line of defense was defeated without bloodshed, the fear of the Navy's sailors reached its peak. Even Wang Heidi felt that this was a conspiracy. Looking at the history of the German Army, he had never suffered such a defeat. He was worried that the army's move would advance and retreat. The army soldiers who had accumulated strength would use a counter-charge to drive the navy away like ducks, and double the number of casualties of the sailors.

Late at night, the Navy sailors were rubbing on the second line of defense for nearly half an hour. It was not until Wang Heidi figured out a little about the Army's abnormal movement that the Navy plucked up the courage to continue on the road.

"Wegener, I understand!" Wang Heidi pulled the empty sleeves of the one-armed general Wegener, and the wrinkles on his sideburns unconsciously stretched out, mocking: "Ludendorff underestimated the conservative and stubbornness of the empire, so the army will not stop us from entering Berlin!"

It seemed to be to confirm Wang Heidi's judgment. After continuing to set off, the Navy sailors entered Berlin with a "destroying" offensive and approached Tirgatto Railway Station and Naval Headquarters. Due to their discipline and sense of honor, the Army only carried their superiors away from the battlefield with a little decent resistance.

In the early morning, the Navy Sailors paid the price of more than 1,300 casualties and rushed outside the Navy headquarters.

William Monson, an Imperial ship designer who works at the Navy Headquarters, recalls the feats of the Navy Sailors:

"In the early morning, there was a burst of gunfire sound from the southwest. At first we thought it was the Army that was fighting with the Workers' Party armed forces and seemed to be competing at the political level of the political party. We have surprised us more than once. They were able to gather more than 20,000 armed followers in one breath, be able to win the Congressional election under the suppression of Rudendolf, and have the strength to launch an armed uprising when their top leaders were beaten up in one go.

The guns and cannons did not stop quickly, but the war approached the Navy headquarters. We realized that it was not the Workers' Party, and perhaps other forces were involved in the chaos in Berlin.

Of course, we don’t think that it is our navy’s troops. The navy’s large toys cannot be driven deep into the land. This army is naturally not suitable for being overly involved in politics!

We were vigilant, staring at the path of war with wide eyes, until we saw the army soldiers besiegingly raising their hands at us, scattering birds and beasts, and then the sailors in inappropriate naval uniforms emerged from the smoke and rushed towards the Navy headquarters.

I will never forget this moment: after being besieged by the Army for nearly a day, an admiral with an ugly muffled gun in his hands led a group of sailors who could not do anything after leaving the warship, broke through the army's many defense lines and came to rescue us..."

After the rebels besieging the Navy headquarters withdrew, the tired naval sailors rushed through the booth outside the headquarters building like a tide, hugging the headquarters officers and soldiers.

"Silem, I am extremely grateful now that I chose the Navy in 1894!"

The square outside the Navy headquarters became a sea of joy. The sailors and officers waved their guns and sang the Imperial Navy songs, and wanted to vent their sense of honor as Imperial Navy soldiers.

Standing in the distance, Weigener withdrew his gaze, turned his back to Wang Heidi leaning in front of the booth, and asked without looking back:

"Silem, what should we do next? Attack the Army Headquarters?"

The naval leader behind him did not answer for a long time. Weigener turned around in confusion and embarrassedly found that Wang Heidi, who was addicted to alcohol, had secretly drunk again.

"Hi, this is a tradition of the Silame family, and most of the time, it is more useful than the painkillers prescribed by the doctor."

Wang Heidi leaned in front of the booth, looking at the naval flag at the top of the Navy Headquarters building that had never been defiled or dusted by the Berlin mutiny, and asked and answered questions with a few drunkenness:

"Attacking the Army Headquarters? No, that's what Hoffman should do. Our presence will only intensify the confrontation and division in this country. Although it violates the tradition of the Navy not participating in politics, as long as we still love this country, we must be ahead of the army that will have bad things and do what the army will never bother to do..."

Wang Heidi, who had a very poor alcohol tolerance, stretched out her finger to pointing to the east where the flames surged into the sky. There was the Great Xia of the Congress, the Charlottemberg Palace, the Prime Minister's Office, the Gendarmerie Command, and the Future of Germany!
