Chapter 17 Declaring War on France (4)
On April 23, 1916, the North Caucasus in the heart of Russia.
The commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Kolchak, came to the North Caucasus front with Major General Ivanov, the deputy chief of staff of the North Caucasus Army.
Kolchak was lucky, and the North Caucasus Army Front Command was planning an offensive, and he caught up with the prelude to the offensive.
The Russian artillery of the Army, the small-caliber naval naval guns brought by Kolchak, the rapid-fire guns and heavy artillery supported by Britain and France, and the light artillery purchased from the United States, Japan and even the Far East China were aimed at the sky. The infantry picked up the rifle, the cavalry raised their rifles and pulled out their sabers, waiting for the order to attack.
The firepower preparation began. The shells processed with files drilled out of muzzles of different calibers and smashed them into the Turkish positions with various ballistics.
The shells landed like rapid light rain. After three minutes of firepower was covered, the heroic Cossack cavalry wielded their horse whips to launch a terrible cavalry charge.
The Russian army's fire preparation was shocking for the Turkish army, which lacked artillery, but the soft and muddy land unloaded a huge part of the explosion impact, and the firepower coverage was not enough. The Turks quickly recovered, and the Turks' heavy machine guns and rifles began to fight back, forming a non-strong firepower net in front of positions with a certain inclination angle.
The muddy land called the tall Don hippo was difficult to take a step, and the Cossacks had to slow down their living speed and were knocked down by the Turkish machine gun.
"Let my cavalry retreat! Let my cavalry retreat!"
The cavalry commander was jumping, so the important task of attacking the tough guy fell on the shoulders of the infantry.
Forced by the machine guns of the supervisory team in the rear, a large number of gray animals grabbed various rifles and began to charge. They wore dirty military uniforms and shouted that Ula would charge towards the Turkish positions.
The machine gun sprayed out the flames, knocking down the Russian gray animals in pieces like cutting wheat. The injured human-shaped animals fell in the mud and rolled in pain. The surviving animals were glad that they were still alive, while lying in the mud with bloody smell. They shot against the Turks.
The battle stopped and the stalemate lasted for more than two hours. The Russians finally pushed their straggling line under the nose of the Turkish position. On the side of the Turkish position, the barrel of the heavy machine gun had been red, and the rifle bullets had been completely wiped out. The Turkish scimitars, samurai warriors, who were full of courage, did not think of changing the barrel or plundering ammunition from their dead companions. Instead, they threw down the expensive heavy machine guns and rifles, and put their upper bodies on their upper bodies. They pulled out the Turkish scimitars that they had passed down from generation to generation and rushed towards the Russians.
The polar bears were naturally not timid animals. They threw away a few shoddy small workshop grenades to slow down the Turks' offensive, and climbed up from the mud, and found any guy who could be used as a weapon to meet them like a samurai.
The Turkish bomb exploded, and small iron sheets and iron nails were raging. The scimitar immediately fell down a large area. The Turks' offensive remained unabated. After the close forces were connected, the cruel hand-to-hand combat began.
The Slavic people were powerful, but the herdsmen on the Anatoni Plateau were also strong and skilled. In the end, the Slavic people relied on the sea of people to achieve "great" victory.
The crescent flag fell, and the Turkish scimitar was driven back to the position like a duck was driven, and was driven out of the trenches by the Russian troops who were banished to the horse.
After occupying the territorial army positions, the Russian army did not pursue the victory. The exhausted gray animals jumped into the stinking trenches and threw down the Turks, moving machine guns with Russian-signatured marks from one side to the other. The trigger was pulled falsely and waiting for Turkey's counter-repair.
"Why not pursue?"
Kolchak asked, lowering his telescope and turning his head.
"unnecessary!"
The Army Major General lit a inferior cigarette for himself, understatement.
As soon as the words were finished, the earth shook again and Turkish cavalry rushed in.
As descendants of Emperor Saladin, the herdsmen of the Anatonian Plateau were no less than those of the famous Cossack cavalry. The fierce Turkish cavalry lined up in dense charge formations in front of the heavy machine guns of the Russian army and killed them in a group charge. There were a large number of Turkish infantry behind them.
"Haha. General Kolchak, this is the way the North Caucasus fights."
Kolchak was stunned, while the Russian major general who was born in a military family raised his head and laughed. His beard, which was covered with jaws, trembled.
"Our North Caucasus Army has the most complete guns in the world, but there are no shells at any time; we have the best rifles and the oldest smoothbore guns in the world. But there is not enough gunpowder; we have the best soldiers in the world but they are unwilling to give them enough training. Oh, this is the war in the North Caucasus, a war that is worse than bad. Here, there is no worst but only worse!"
Kolchak knew that what the Major General said was true. In the early days of the outbreak of the European war, the Turkish army, built by German advisers, performed well and soon defeated the North Caucasus Army. In early 1915, St. Petersburg added and strengthened the North Caucasus Army. The Turks lacked industrial background and the front-line ammunition was insufficient, and the North Caucasus battlefield quickly fell into a stalemate.
In the second half of 1915, due to the tight war on the Western Front, Russia's supply to the remote North Caucasus Army was abnormally lagging behind. In early 1916, a large amount of resources were consumed due to the reorganization of the Western Front, which made the North Caucasus Army extremely lacking ammunition and materials. In April, after the German and British-French coalitions fought in France, the North Caucasus Army re-entered the sight of the St. Petersburg bosses.
It takes time to transport supplies, and that little bit of supplies is exploited by blood-sucking insects parasitized on the railway line. The greedy bureaucrats rely on their connections in St. Petersburg to seize all military supplies. The arms belonging to the North Caucasus Army were sold to local arsenals, and then they appeared on the government procurement list. Military rations, military uniforms and other supplies were sold to merchants, and then sold to civilians at high prices by those unscrupulous merchants.
Kolchak felt the anger behind the laughter of the major general. He wondered how long the country could last if even the nobles who maintained the tsarist system were dissatisfied with the status quo.
"Major General, there is good news, Rasputin is dead!" Kolchak tried to explain to his shaken heart.
"Without Rasputin, there will be Ras Vikings! It's not that this country is too stingy, but that it has rotted from the root! If I weren't interested in the Workers' Party's scheme, I even wanted to join the Workers' Party and make a fuss!"
The battle between the Ottoman Empire and thousands of soldiers continued from dawn to dusk. If it weren't for the appearance of the war as commander-in-chief of the Belarusian army, Kolchak and the commander-in-chief of the German Navy, Heidi Silem, on the battlefield at the same time, this insignificant battle would have been enough to be submerged in the ocean of history by various sublime things.
On April 23, 1916, on the battlefield of the North Caucasus, the Russian army occupied a Turkish position at the cost of more than 300 casualties, and three hours later was driven back by Turkey, which made a comeback.
At dusk, the sound of gunfire stopped. The exhausted Russians and Turks did not care about the so-called battlefield regulations, and they made fire and cooked after half a 37mm range of war defense guns.
The Russians gathered by the fire, roasted moldy black bread, and enjoyed dinner with onions, mashed potatoes and weeds. After completing the religious etiquette, the Turks took out a little bit of dough with warm and sweaty smell from their arms. They filled their stomachs with half a tomato. Even the officers with special treatment could only stay in the simple command center that was leaking everywhere. They ate dinner that was not much better than the soldiers and a small cup of tea without milk but with sugar.
"Good luck, Turk!"
Just as he was on the fire, Kolchak closed his diary, took the tea cup handed over by Major General Ivanov, and raised his glass toward the Turkish.
"So far away, Russian!"
The middle-aged man in a German naval uniform opened the door made of felt at the front line command and drilled in, took off his military boots, poured out a few liters of mud and water, and held up the cup of hot tea on the table.
"General, I really don't understand why you were going to the North Caucasus front to visit you."
The German adviser of the Turkish infantry regiment asked in a low voice. In the eyes of the army captain, the Imperial Navy God of War only needs to stay in Istanbul and enjoy the sunshine of the Mediterranean and wait for news of the victory of the Allies. He does not need to suffer at the ghost place in the North Caucasus.
"Captain, survival, injury and death are not the whole of war..."
It took almost eight months to complete the inspection and exchange of all naval powers in the Mediterranean, except France. In early 1916, he came to Turkey as the "no matter" minister of the Turkish Navy. In March, Wang Heidi, who came to the North Caucasus front to comfort the German consultant, took out all the medicine boxes from his pocket, pointed to his head and smiled bitterly:
"At this stage, I can only stay quietly in the Black Sea that others cannot notice. But I can no longer bear the life without the smell of gunpowder and the sound of bugle, so I will be here!"
On April 25, 1916, guns were rumbling 60 nautical miles northeast of Newcastle, and a sea hunting game was underway.
The battle between light warships became increasingly fierce. German light cruisers and destroyers formed an anti-torpedo attack formation around the main battleship. Accompanied by the main battleship's actions, they formed an interception fire network with the 150mm and 88mm secondary guns equipped by the main battleship torpedo attacks to pieces. The main battleship slowly insisted on the "shooting proofreading and shooting" process and poured ammunition to the target ship in the night.
A destroyer that accompanied the operation of the British capital ship was hit by a 150mm secondary gun. The superstructure of the poor 300-ton destroyer quickly ignited a raging fire.
The fire illuminated the dark sea, and the Luzov battle patrolman saw the British main battleship.
"Something seems wrong..." The lookout grabbed the direction plate and murmured.
The flames leaked the British's position, and the British destroyers began to release smoke. They tried to cover the retreat of the main battleship, but the Ocean Fleet soon allowed the British who were fighting stubbornly to learn about their artillery accuracy.
The fire broke through the sky. It was clearly extinguished at the other end of the sea, and then a splash of stunning fire fog exploded. The explosion shocked the sea. Just as the officers and soldiers of the Luzov battle patrol bet on the position of the target ship being shot, the answer was already released.
In less than thirty seconds, the sea water was shaking slightly, and the target ship exploded with a more intense column of fire, and thick smoke rose into the sky, illuminating all the surrounding kilometers of sea areas.
"It's an underwater ammunition depot! Haha, the South Africa is over!"
