Chapter XV Jutland, Jutland (6)

[Carwen, this chapter is too tangled, okay, it's watered again.]

The Luzov and the Lion were fighting fiercely, from a distance of 19,000 yards to 15,600 yards. At 18:15, the lookout on the main mast of the Luzov accidentally discovered a group of unclear ghost fire in the gap between the main guns of the Lion.[]

Although the Zeiss telescope is of excellent quality, the sailors were unable to confirm their inner guesses under the interference of the gradually rich sea fog and night. Another round of artillery bombardment of the Lion arrived as scheduled, and the lookout could only turn its head and focus on the 343mm armor-piercing bomb drop points, holding the guardrail with armor protection on the watchtower and fire control command tower to report the damage to the warship.

Although the Sedlitz battle patrol has 10 main guns, the main gun has a caliber of only 12 inches, and the distance of 16,000 yards is enough to greatly reduce the penetration of armor-piercing bullets, not to mention the design of the inclined straddle main turret allows the Sedlitz to exert all side firepower at only a slight angle. The Royal Princess and the Tiger Battle patrol formed a bullet rain near the Sedlitz, and the all-metal storm and stormy water column flooded the poor Sedlitz. At 18:14, the Royal Princess

The USS even launched a round of cross-fires. Although it did not hit Seidlitz, the 343mm thrust into the sea on the stern of the Cedlitz ship was not underestimated by the losses caused by the cap armor-piercing projectile. A 152mm secondary gun was damaged, and the attack power generated by the explosion was offset by the 300mm waterline belt main armor and the 200mm upper side armor belt. However, the hull of the Cedlitz still had severe displacement and tremor, and fine cracks appeared in many water pipes, water valves and seal cabins.

The Seidlitz people obviously underestimated the combat effectiveness of the Defringer battle patrol team, but this mistake was insignificant, because even Defringer himself could not find that the Royal Princess had suffered heavy damage and was on the verge of collapse. The rangefinder of the Defringer-class Battle Patrol observation tower was enough to magnify things from a distance by 23 times, but this kind of awesome killer was greatly reduced in the increasingly dense fog and darker sky. At 18:15, the Observation Tower reported to the Commander Tower that "the target ship was shot on the bow deck, and the battle was unknown." So Defringer continued his indifferent shelling action and hit the Royal Princess twice. At 18:23, the Royal Princess completely disappeared from the observation mirror. At this time, the sea intertwined with night and sea fog had become unreasonable, and Defringer could only report to the flagship that it had lost its target ship.

It was not only the one who lost the target that Defringer had lost the target. The Luzov, who was fighting fiercely with the Lion, lost the target at around 18:23, and the Seidlitz lost the shadow of the Tiger battle patrol at around 18:21, and the Moltkes in the team were even more unbearable. The lagging rangefinder and the distance of more than 17,800 yards made it lose the target ship at around 18:15.

Although the German battle patrol fell to the end, it finally escaped from the battle. At 18:13, the German was shot, half of the bridge at the rear of the bow was cut off, horizontal armor was chiseled through, and the armor-piercing bomb exploded in the boiler compartment and caused a fire.

The flames of the German unit became the best indicator for the rangefinder that was slightly outdated and backward. The 12-inch armor-piercing bomb poured several tons of them into the vicinity of the German unit. The German unit was unable to fight back due to the interference of the fire and smoke from the German unit. At 18:24, the battle, although the fire in the German unit had not yet been extinguished, the battle was still over inexplicably, because the usual fog in the North Sea was almost formed, the Indomitable Has lost the shelling target that hid in the sea fog.

The outpost of Wang Heidi's First Reconnaissance Fleet and David Betty's Fast Fleet lasted for more than half an hour. Germany and Britain were still unsatisfied. The distance of more than 16,000 yards and sea fog made both sides lose the target of shelling, and they had to stop licking their wounds for a while in an attempt to fight again.

In this trouble, the Royal Princess sank quietly. It was not the desolate and tragic Scottish bagpipes of the Royal Navy style, nor the same hatred of the enemy. At 18:24 on March 3, 1915, at the northern edge of the Helgolan Bay in the North Sea, about 100 nautical miles of the Jutland coastline, the white sea fog here was accumulating, the light here was thin, the night was accumulated, and the time here was quiet.

The opening of the sea valve made the sea water swallowing even more fiercely. The huge hull of the battle cruiser built with British pounds eventually overturned because of too much water entering one side of the hull. After the creaking sound, the bulky three-legged mainmast slapped heavily on the ocean surface that was no longer noisy. After the deafening sound of sea water splashing, the mainmast broke.

The bottom of the ship, which was covered with rust, was exposed to the air. Dull explosions came from deep into the hull from time to time, and each sound continued to stimulate the sailors scattered near the Royal Princess. Another sealed cabin could not bear the weight of the sea water. The sailors who burst into the water could not help but speed up the paddling speed and tried to escape the vortex that was about to form. In less than a minute, the Royal Princess sank, forming a huge vortex on the ocean surface, swallowing the nearby corpses, clothing, and fragments together.

The bodies of brave sailors floating on the ocean, sweet photos of lovers, leaked motor oil and broken wood. The surviving sailors wore wet clothes and endured the temperature at night in early spring in the North Sea, which was only three or five degrees at night. They drove a lifeboat to shuttle between the fragments and tried to find the survivors. As for salvage of their companions' bodies, the survivors had no place to stand, let alone collecting the corpses of their bodies.

Combined with the reports of the three ships of Luzov, Defringer, and Seidlitz, Wang Heidi believed that the Royal Princess suffered only severe damage, while Betty was busy repairing the telegraph room radio antenna of the Lion and restoring communications between the ships of the fast fleet. The Royal Princess tragedy has not been fed back to him.

"Commander, the backup radio antenna is set up!"

"Order, the First Battle Cruise Fleet is 40 degrees northeast, with a speed of 18 knots." David Betty let go of his fists that had been clenched since the outpost battle, took out his handkerchief and wiped the sweat beads in his palms at will, and continued: "The First Battle Cruise Fleet ships completed the analysis and summary of the results, evaluate their own losses as soon as possible, and report to the flagship. The Ninth Destroyer suddenly alerted, the First and Second Destroyer searched for the combat waters to rescue and collect the wounded. In addition, send a report to the Iron Duke of the Great Fleet and the Elizabeth of the Second Battle Cruise Fleet to ask about their location!"

The commander's tower is full of dullness and tangle. In a fierce naval battle, the battleships that are fighting each other are usually not time to care about the life and death of friendly ships, so reporting the results of the battle is an expectant but tangled inexplicable!

The results of the Battle of the Buqu Battle were first counted. The Buqu 8 12-inch main guns fired a total of 80 main shells at the "Buku Ship" Moltke. One shot was shot by Moltke, which was judged to be slightly injured. The Buqu was shot by 1 round, and 5 rounds were missing. A 4.7-inch secondary gun was destroyed, 12 people were killed and 1 missing person was missing.

The captain of the "Perfect Cat" followed closely, and read out the statistical report from Ai Ai Ai: After nearly half an hour of fighting, the Lion fired 210 13.5-inch shells at the Luzov, and the Luzov was shot 5 times, which was judged to be slightly injured. Compared with the minor injuries of the Luzov, the Lion was somewhat dirty. First, the radio antenna and half of the signal cable were destroyed, resulting in the interruption of the contact between the Lion, the flagship, and other ships. Then the Pu turret was hit, and more than 70 sailors were killed.

The battle report of the Lion Battle Patrol added a hint of gloom on the fast fleet staff in the commander's tower. Fortunately, good news came from the Tiger Battle Patrol: The Tiger Battle Patrol fired 180 15-inch large-caliber shells at the Seedlitz Battle Patrol. Seedlitz was shot 4 rounds, one of which accurately hit the lifted main turret on the stern of the Seedlitz Battle Patrol. It was judged that Seedlitz suffered a severe injury. The Tiger only ate a few of them and was not even a minor injury.

The news from the Battle of the Invulgar Battle made the Lion Commander's Tower jubilant. The Battle of the Invulgar Battle of the Invulgar Fired 104 12-inch main shells at the Battle of the Deutsches. The Deuts were shot two times, and the hull was lit up. It was judged that the Deutsch had suffered heavy damage and had even lost its combat effectiveness. The Battle of the Invulgar was shot and the boiler was damaged, and the maximum speed was reduced to 24 knots.

"Where is the Royal Princess?" Betty almost remembered something, leaned over and carefully copied it in a thick stack of telegraph papers, and shed a cold sweat. "Also, where did my Second Battlecruiser fleet run?"
