Chapter 288 The strength of the Japanese navy

Just as the passionate people in Beijing were still cheering for the return of Jiaozhou Bay, the Japanese government, which obtained the license, was also quite satisfied with the support of the British government.

So not long after Juerdian left the presidential palace in depression, the ambassador to China Rizhiyi had already come to Yan Guang's door.

After seeing Yan Guang, Rizhiyi only said one sentence.

"Take hand over more than 5,000 German troops sheltered by your government, otherwise something that neither of us would be happy to see."

Tickling his head, looking at Riyi, who seemed to be less than his chest, but still looked arrogant, Yan Guang asked in a very strange tone.

"If I hand over the thousands of Germans to your country, will your country really not have any other actions?"

"this…"

Rizhi hesitated for a moment. As the ambassador to China, he was a person with a little identity in Japan and knew some of the thoughts of the Japanese government. So after considering the wording, he could only say.

"After the Allies declared war on the Allies, a cruiser fleet in Germany once sailed out of Qingdao fortress and is currently roaming around the Pacific Ocean. Although our country and the British government have mobilized their forces to suppress this German fleet, they have not found any trace of this fleet yet."

Speaking of this, Rizhiyi looked up at Yan Guang.

"Under this situation, this German fleet has seriously threatened the security of the Allies, so our country hopes that your country can borrow Qingdao fortress from our country to use. After the war with the allies is over, our country will return Qingdao fortress to your country... Of course, doing so will be of great help to your country. After all, this German fleet with nowhere to inquire also has a certain threat to your country at sea..."

Although Japan simply covets Jiaozhou Bay, it cannot be said directly.

But after listening to Rizhiyi's words, Yan Guang sneered in his heart.

Of course, in addition to sneering in his heart, Yan Guang's face also brought out a sneering expression. Combined with Yan Guang's strange gaze, Rijiyi, who was also quite thick-skinned, felt a little uncomfortable.

Just when Rijiri felt very uncomfortable, Yan Guang said.

"If it were only those thousands of Germans, maybe I could think about it, but since your country still requires Qingdao fortress, haha, Mr. Minister, it seems that Yan can only obey his fate..."

Borrowing Qingdao Fortress? Yan Guang asked himself that he had figured out what the Japanese thoughts in the future.

It was nothing more than garrisoning troops in Qingdao fortress first, and when Yan Guang was unprepared, he was doing something like the Lugou Bridge Incident. For example, he was practicing in the Jiaozhou Bay stadium, and then he told Yan Guang that a small soldier was missing during the exercise, and he could only ask for troops to be sent to find the rest. Hehehe...

Of course, the time to play this hand cannot be very fast.

The Japanese would definitely wait until the garrison in Shandong was withdrawn in this way. The Japanese might even ask themselves to withdraw some of the troops on the grounds of threatening the security of the Japanese army.

After that, when the European war came to an end, it would be perfect when it was taking action.

Although Yan Guang was willing to play with this group of Japanese, the arms and supplies in Shandong have been almost hoarded. The troops in the Beijing Military Region and Nanjing Military Region are ready, and are waiting for the Japanese to come. Improve their status. If you delay at this time, you may have to spend every extra day of delay, so...

After hearing Yan Guang's refusal, Rizhiyi continued to say after frowned.

"Mr. President, I hope Mr. President can think more about it, otherwise, this matter will probably have a great impact on the diplomatic relations between Japan and China, and there may even be some things that we are unwilling to happen..."

"You have said this sentence many times..."

Rizhiyi was choked by Yan Guang's face, and his face was inevitably a little ugly, but just as he wanted to continue talking, Yan Guang had already spoken.

"Mr. Minister, I have already said that if it is a German soldier, I can consider it, but if your country insists on connecting Qingdao fortress with German soldiers, Yan can only refuse..."

Seeing Yan Guang's never agreeing, Rizhi shook his head with an ugly expression.

"Mr. President, I still hope you can think more about it. This way, according to the meaning of our government, as long as the President makes a reply before August 10, it is fine, but if the President before August 10 still answers this way, then something regrettable will really happen..."

As he said this, Rijiyi put his top hat on his head and stood up and said.

"I will take my leave first. I hope the President can think more about this matter in these days, so that the harmony between Japan and China can be preserved..."

Seeing Rizhiyi's appearance, although Yan Guang wanted to give him a kick, he had to say with a smile.

"Since the Minister is going back, I won't send it to you. Please rest assured that the Minister will definitely consider it carefully..."

Anyway, the longer the time is delayed, the better the preparation work in Shandong will be completed. Yan Guang is really not worried about delaying things.

In fact, if this matter could be delayed for three or five years, Yan Guang would be the happiest one. After all, three or five years later, well, five years later. Five years later, let alone industrial strength, I am afraid that even the battleships will be built in the Fuzhou Shipbuilding Bureau by then-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yan Guang is still very self-aware of the strength of the Chinese Navy and the Japanese Navy.

After Ryujiyi left, Yue Chang stood behind Yan Guang and said.

"I didn't expect that these Japanese people would actually want to make a decision to fight Qingdao..."

Indeed, Yue Chang never expected that even though Jiaozhou Bay and Qingdao Fortress were returned to China by the Germans, these Japanese still did not give up.

But after hearing Yue Chang's words, Yan Guang spoke.

"The Japanese wolf ambition is not just Shandong. Even Northeast and Mongolia will not let go. If possible, they may not let go of the entire China..."

Yue Chang nodded, but looked at the direction of Rizhiyi's departure. Yue Chang still said a little worriedly.

"President, since the Japanese have proposed to get our answer before August 10, then if our reply after August 10 is still... I'm afraid the Japanese will take action at that time."

"Of course I know they will take action, otherwise the troops I deployed in Shandong would become decorations..."

"……… That's right. Now we have indeed deployed a lot of troops in Shandong, but the Japanese navy... If we only compete in the army, we are still very confident in our brothers below, but if we compete in the navy, the president, this..."

No wonder Yue Chang was so worried. After all, no matter who had seen the strength comparison between the Chinese and Japanese navies, he would sigh. Even Yan Guang himself was the same.

After all, there are more than ten battleships of more than 10,000 tons in the current Japanese Navy alone. What about the Chinese Navy? The largest tonnage is the Haiqi ship that was sank by Yan Guang in the Shanghai Military Port. It has just floated up to now. It has a tonnage of only a pitiful 4,300 tons, and it can only be regarded as a type of cruiser that is quite a good choice.

The only warships under construction are one Jinghai-class cruiser and two Qinghai-class destroyers built by the Fuzhou Shipbuilding Bureau, plus the first Qinghai-class destroyer "Qinghai Ship", which has been launched, all of which are not as good as the tonnage of the Fuji-class battleship, Japan's earliest battleship.

The only thing that made Yan Guang feel a little comforted was that the quality of the Japanese naval warships was not very high.

That’s right. The Japanese Navy does have many battleships nowadays, and of course, there are even more many other types of warships.

For example, there are 2 Fuji-class ships, 4 Shikijima-class ships, 2 Kato-class ships, 2 Satsuma-class ships and 2 Hanoi-class ships.

However, among these 12 battleships, only two of the Hanoi-class battleships were the Fearless Class battleships, and the rest were all old-fashioned battleships. These battleships may still be called new names before the British Fightless Class battleships were launched---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But after the British dreadnought was launched, it was really, hahahahaha...

Moreover, there are many flaws in the two Hanoi-class ships, namely the Hanoi and the Shejin battleships. The originally good Fearless Class battleships ended up being half fearless.

In fact, after the Russo-Japanese War, Japan once planned a plan for the 88 Fleet, which is the first generation of the 88 Fleet.

Of course, the British dreadnought finally destroyed everything.

There was no choice but to push the plan back and start over, and then produce the "Hanoi-class" battleship.

The two fearless-class battleships built in the first generation of the "88 Fleet Plan" were delivered one after another in 1912, but unfortunately, these two ships were built into inappropriate "semi-dreadnought".

The Japanese Navy originally planned to equip all these ships with the latest 50-dimensional 12-inch arks xi main gun (at that time, Japan had not yet mastered the manufacturing technology of large naval guns). This new main gun is actually the long-body tube type of the 45-dimensional 12-inch ark x main gun equipped on the "Dreadnought" and has a longer range and penetration than the ark x. However, the price of the new thing is naturally much higher, which is not a good thing for Japan, which was extremely limited at the time.

However, Marshal Hirahachiro Togo, who was the Minister of the Navy Command, was not interested in this latest thing. During his inspection in the UK, the Japanese naval delegation also discovered some practical problems and defects of the artillery. According to previous practical experience, the battle between the Japanese naval battleships mostly occurred within 8,000 to 9,000 yards (Japan did not obtain a complete artillery command and control system from the UK until 1912). The difference between ark x and ark x in such combat distances was not large, and the latter was much higher than the former. In view of this, Togo asked the Navy to replace the four turrets on both sides of the hull with a reliable and affordable ark x, and only the bow and stern were retained to use ark x with a long range.

Although this operation caused inconsistent ballistic performance of the main gun and deviated from the design purpose of the "dreadnought", since ark xi directly developed into ark x, the ballistic performance of the two main guns was still roughly similar when the former charge was appropriately reduced, and the difference in actual applications was not obvious.

In fact, the Japanese Navy later had not had a high actual evaluation of the ark xi. As the first generation of long-barrel artillery, the main gun defects were obvious. Because the shells of the ark xi require stronger launch drugs, the life of the body tube was much shorter, and the defects based on the casting technology itself were easily bent and deformed, which significantly reduced the shelling accuracy, etc.

After the failure of the Hanoi-class, Japan also planned a new battleship plan, which is the second generation of the "88 Fleet Plan".

However, the construction time of battleships is indeed much longer than that of other ships, not to mention that the Japanese government itself lacks funds - even if they really invest a lot in military spending.

For example, the Fusang, the second generation of Japan's 88 fleet, started construction on March 11, 1912 and was not completed on November 8, 1915.

The Shancheng number started construction on November 20, 1913 and was not completed on March 31, 1917.

The Ise started construction on May 10, 1915 and completed on December 15, 1917.

The Hinata started construction on May 6, 1915 and completed on April 30, 1918.

There is also the first ship of the King Kong-class battlecruiser, the King Kong, which started construction on January 17, 1911 and completed on August 16, 1913.

The Hiei started construction on November 4, 1911, and August 4, 1914.

The construction date of the Haruna name started on March 16, 1912 and was completed on April 19, 1915.

Construction of Kirishima started on March 17, 1912, and April 19, 1915.

So before the European War, although the Japanese Navy was huge in scale, its quality was sincere...

At least it is definitely incomparable to Britain and Germany. After all, there are too many dreadnoughts in these two countries.

By the way, the first ship of the King Kong-class battlecruiser, the King Kong, was built by the British. On January 17, 1911, the King Kong placed the first keel at the Vickers Shipyard, and the technical backbone from various Japanese shipyards would open their eyes to observe the entire construction project and bring the perfect technology to build large warships back to Japan.

Following the "King Kong", the second ship "Hairui" started construction at the Yokosuka Naval Factory on November 7, and the technical personnel of the Vickers Company provided full technical guidance for the construction work. On March 11 of the following year, after careful preparation of the first ship of the "Fusan-class" battleship, the first ship of the "Fusan-class" battleship was placed on the ship platform of the Wugang Naval Factory. On March 16, 1913, the "King Kong-class" ship "Haruna" laid keels at the Kawasaki Shipyard. The next day, the No. 4 ship "Kikishima" in the Mitsubishi Shipyard also officially started construction. The second "Yama Castle", which had already passed the budget, was towed until November 1913 before construction started at the Yokosuka Shipyard.

Although the Japanese Navy has been tirelessly learning the advanced Western shipbuilding technology since the Meiji Restoration. Despite the huge progress, there is still a huge gap compared to the old industrial powers such as Britain and the United States. Among the four ships of the "Kingang-class", the first ship "Kingang" built in the British shipyard is significantly better than the other three ships built by Japan in the local shipyard, even with the guidance of the British technicians. Compared with the first ship, the structural strength of the three ships Hiei, Hamaname and Kirishima are much worse, and the hull life is about 20% lower than that of the "Kingang", and its watertightness is more or less problematic.

However, it has to be said that the combat effectiveness of the four ships of the King Kong-class battlecruiser is indeed quite strong. When the first batch of four battlecruisers started construction in the first half of 1915 were all built, the whole world was watching the sudden increase in Japan's naval strength. The completion of the King Kong-class four ships made the Japanese Navy suddenly have the most powerful battlecruiser fleet in the world, which even made the British Royal Navy envious. During the tense period of confrontation with the German high seas fleet, the United Kingdom once proposed to lease these four ships, but was flatly rejected by the Japanese government.

But it is no wonder. After all, it is difficult for the Japanese to accumulate some wealth, so they can send all their best battleships to Europe...

You know, the British navy is very strong, but the German navy is not easy to deal with. If one or two main battleships are lost in a certain naval battle, such as a war like the Jutland Navy, wouldn’t the Japanese government cry to death? That was what they made by tightening their belts.

Moreover, there is basically no compensation afterwards. After all, the Japanese government is also a member of the Allied Powers, so it is normal to contribute to the Allied Powers. If the Japanese only lose a few main battleships and have to compensate... Then what about the millions of people you call the Sacrifice of the European battlefield?

---------------------

Of course, Yue Chang knew what Yan Guang said. After all, the strength of the Japanese Navy was almost done with the military intelligence bureau. Yue Chang was not an outsider, and this level of information would not avoid him at all.

But whenever you think of the common name on the Japanese naval ship list, Yue Chang always feels tingling with scalp--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"By the way, President, what fleet would the Japanese send if war starts?"

"Which?" Yan Guang smiled bitterly. "How many fleets do Japan have in total? It's nothing more than the first and second fleets. The biggest possibility is that both fleets are coming."

Yan Guang was right, because in history, during the Qingdao War in Japan and Germany, Japan was indeed the Qingdao War sent by the First Fleet and the Second Fleet to participate in the Qingdao War...

But to be honest, there are many of these two fleets with old ships.

For example, Zhou Fang, Ishimi, Tango, Okama, Mishima, and Tango, among the five ships of the second fleet, Zhou Fang, Ishimi and Tango, are the three Russian battleships captured by Japan during the Russo-Japanese War... called armored battleships.

Of course, even the three old ships are not something the Chinese Navy can deal with.

but…

Who said Yan Guang has a killer weapon?!
