About misdiagnosis and mistreatment (repost)
When it comes to misdiagnosis, you cannot act emotionally in the fog, and you need more rationality and calmness. The so-called "misdiagnosis and mistreatment" is, as the name suggests, to provide wrong diagnosis and wrong treatment to patients.
It seems a bit terrible to write this word. From the inner wishes of each of us, no one wants to be misdiagnosed or mistreated by a doctor when he is sick. However, misdiagnosis and mistreatment actually happens in every hospital, and every doctor may misdiagnose. Misdiagnosis is an objective fact.
So, is the rate of misdiagnosis and mistreatment high when doctors treat patients now?
According to statistics from the relevant data of the national medical journal "Clinical Misdiagnosis and Misdiagnosis", which specializes in misdiagnosis and misdiagnosis, in the past 30 years, despite the rapid development of medical science and new treatment methods, the overall misdiagnosis rate of diseases has always hovered around 30%. In other words, about 30 people have been misdiagnosed for every 100 patients who come to the hospital for treatment. With such a high misdiagnosis rate, who dares to go to the hospital for treatment? Is our doctor's level so poor?
No, misdiagnosis is not only related to the technical level of hospitals and doctors, but it involves many problems. It is an objective phenomenon in medical work. Moreover, different diseases have different misdiagnosis rates; the same diseases have different misdiagnosis rates at different stages.
The human body can be said to be the most complex and precise "object" in the world. The exploration of the mystery of the human body has been a goal that scientists have been pursuing for thousands of years, and it is far from over. The diseases that humans suffer from are as complex as the world. Just as there are no two identical leaves in the world, the same disease manifested on different patients and has different symptoms and different signs; and the same symptoms appear on different patients, which may be different diseases; this is what medicine often calls "same disease and different diseases" and "same disease and different diseases". At present, there are nearly 20,000 diseases identified by the medical community! Moreover, new diseases are constantly being recognized and discovered, and humans' understanding of diseases will never end.
How can hospitals and doctors with such complex human body, such complex diseases, and social conditions, technical level, work experience, and diagnosis and treatment facilities be foolproof? So, misdiagnosis exists.
Misdiagnosis and mistreatment are an ancient medical topic. Since the beginning of medicine, there has been a question of whether diagnosis and treatment are correct under the conditions at that time. Doctors' research on misdiagnosis and mistreatment has also a long history. For example, the emergence of various diagnostic theories and methods is to reduce and avoid misdiagnosis. This is to recognize diseases from the positive perspective. Many ancient medical scientists in my country often use misdiagnosis and lessons to warn future generations in medical cases compiled by their later years. For example, Zhang Xichun of the Qing Dynasty's "Medical Conclusion and Reference to the West" in the Ming Dynasty, "Medical Mistakes" and Wang Qingren of the Qing Dynasty's "Medical Forest Revision" are the earliest medical monographs in my country's history with the main content of correcting errors.
So, what is misdiagnosis? What are the misdiagnosis?
The doctors define the misdiagnosis as: "After the patient is present, he has the objective conditions for a correct diagnosis but has failed to diagnose correctly." This contains three basic elements:
First, the patient has been given a diagnosis; second, the condition has been met for confirmation at the time of treatment, that is, the diagnosis can be confirmed through accurate consultation, physical examination and correct auxiliary examination, and the medical unit has the conditions for these examinations; third, the doctor did not take the initiative to observe and collected the necessary data for the diagnosis, and made an incorrect diagnosis or missed diagnosis of the main disease.
Doctors also proposed a discussion plan for the classification of misdiagnosis consequences, and based on the degree of misdiagnosis, the misdiagnosis consequences are divided into three levels.
Level 1: Misdiagnosis leads to mistreatment, causing the patient to be disabled or even die.
Level 2: Any of the following: 1. People with acute progressive diseases worsen due to misdiagnosis and mistreatment, which brings difficulties to treatment; 2. People with chronic diseases that lose the opportunity for effective treatment due to misdiagnosis and mistreatment and are delayed; 3. People with misdiagnosis and mistreatment of malignant tumors are delayed for more than 3 months.
Level 3: Any of the following: 1. Misdiagnosis and mistreatment of immunodeficient diseases or hereditary diseases; 2. When multiple diseases coexist, the omission of the disease will delay the special conditions; 3. Misdiagnosis and mistreatment of rare diseases; 4. Misdiagnosis and mistreatment have occurred, but no adverse consequences have been caused; 5. Misdiagnosis and no mistreatment for various reasons.
