Once, he climbed up to Jiankang's Appreciation Pavilion and looked at the mountains and rivers of his motherland. He had mixed feelings and regretted that he was full of ambitions but failed to achieve anything, so he wrote a poem "Water Dragon Song".

In this poem, Xin Qiji left a famous saying that will last through the ages: "After looking at Wu Gou, I patted the railings all over, but no one understood it, so I came to see it."

The allusion of "beating the railing all over" comes from this word and sentence.
