Chapter 40: Cats and Bats (1)

Bruce lay on the hospital bed, Harvey raised his upper body a little higher, and poured him a glass of water.

Bruce said with some distress: "She is in a turbulent and moody, and she is really like a cat. I can't figure it out. Now I am only worried that her irritability will hurt others. After all, I have the best medical resources in Gotham, but others may not."

"You should be glad that you did not have a kidney rupture. The dagger was very short and only left a very shallow scratch on your organs. Otherwise, you will have only one kidney left now."

Harvey put down the kettle and said, "When I was in school, I also had a girl I liked, and I was crazy about her. I had a passionate pursuit of her. One day, when we were on a date, she deliberately threw the bottle away to tease a cleaner."

"At that time, I thought, how could she do this? She was so bad that she was not worthy of my liking. But then I thought about it, it was my love for her that made her a perfect person in my mind. In fact, she has always had such a bad temper, liked to mock others, and looked down on anyone in the service industry. She had never changed herself, but because of my strong love, I had infinite expectations for her."

"I broke up with her, and she felt inexplicably confused. At that time, I didn't know that I did look like a lunatic. I first pursued her crazy and confessed to her, but suddenly broke up neatly. This seemed to anyone as a humiliation, so she was very angry."

"Thinking about it later, this is normal."

Bruce felt a little embarrassed to speak, but he said: "That girl's problem is much more serious than your ex-girlfriend, and it may hurt others, physically."

"The problem is not here, the problem is that when you know her and fall in love with her, don't you know this problem?"

Bruce thought, didn't he know? He couldn't know much. He even met Catwoman on the way to commit a crime.

He couldn't help but wonder a little ridiculously, how could he fall in love with a criminal? Or was he at the scene of her crime?

After Harvey left, Bruce fell asleep due to sleepiness.

In the dream, the brilliant lights of the jewelry store shone on the string of pearl necklaces scattered on the ground. Suddenly all the lights went out, as if everything had returned to the dark alley, only the pearl necklaces were shining with a faint luster.

Batman never likes any jewelry, especially hates something that will shine, like a real bat.

But his mind was full of the girl holding a shiny gem and showing a sly smile.

In the haze, the gloss of pearls in his memory suddenly became less abominable. At the end of the dream, a group of bats with heavy shadows still crossed the sky.

The next day, Schiller was quite surprised when he saw Bruce in the psychological counseling room. He looked up and down and said, "Your injury has healed? Can you walk so quickly?

"It actually hurts a little, but it doesn't matter. My internal organs have not been seriously injured and are almost healing now."

Schiller said, "It seems you don't have to waste my cup of coffee." As he said, he only poured himself a cup of hot coffee. Bruce was speechless, and he said, "Give me a glass of water."

After the two sat down, Bruce said: "Harvey doesn't know my true identity yet. I think it's better not to tell him first, but I'm very distressed now. The female thief who gave me a knife appears in my dreams every day."

"I'm even a little resistant to wearing a bat suit now. Once I meet her, I don't know what to say to her."

Schiller never dreamed that the first psychological counseling question for Batman to open up with him turned out to be Bruce's teenager's love trouble.

As we all know, in comics, Batman and Catwoman are true love, and the screenwriters use a lot of pen to describe the love story of the two. Indeed, a Dark Knight with a deep bloody hatred and a cunning and beautiful criminal, even if the background of all this is the extremely dark Gotham City, there will still be a large number of readers to buy it.

Schiller said: "It seems that Harvey should have enlightened you, but it doesn't seem to be of use?"

"Harvey's saying makes sense. Before I fell in love with her, I knew she was a thief. I even met her when he was stealing the jewelry store. I don't know how I fell in love with a criminal. It's ridiculous..."

Schiller said: "What do you think is causing you to become Batman?"

Bruce pondered for a moment and said, "A lot of things."

"What do you think caused her to become a thief?"

Bruce was silent.

"So, you're sulking here without knowing a woman's past and family."

"Are you sure you really like him? Instead of just wanting a romantic one-night stand?"

"I haven't even had sex with her," said Bruce.

"Do you want me to applaud your innocence?" Schiller said, then his eyes fell to Bruce's waist, and he said, "Before she had been in bed, she had a knife on your kidney. I'm a little worried about your life's safety now."

"Do you think I should talk to him?" Bruce said.

Schiller sighed and said, "You like the thief. If you don't talk to her, do you want to talk to me? Whoever you like, go and fall in love with whom, do you understand?"

Schiller said helplessly: "Or what do you think is about falling in love? The two of them ran around the roof of Gotham for several days, but they didn't even know who the other party's parents were. You didn't sleep with her or fall in love with her. You didn't know after asking questions. If it were me, I would give you a knife."

Bruce paused and said, "Okay, I'll go talk to her."

The next day, Batman caught Catwoman in an exhibition hall. Although he didn't know Catwoman's past and family, he was sure of her habits.

When the catwoman saw him, he cursed inwardly and immediately wanted to run away.

But she didn't run away, Batman grabbed her cloak again, the catwoman cursed, took a deep breath, and turned around and said, "Let me go! You weirdo! Don't let me use the knife!"

Batman said: "Let's talk."

"What's there to talk to you with me? Don't get in the way of doing things!"

Ten minutes later, the two of them arrived at the roof of the exhibition hall. The catwoman waved helplessly and said, "Okay, okay, my little boy, what are you going to talk about? Tell me the big truths? I will almost recite your truths."

"No, I just want to hear your story," Batman said.

Catwoman was a little surprised. She was silent for a moment, glanced at the pair of pointed ears on Batman's head, and said, "It's up to your aesthetics of dress, okay."

"...I came from the slum in the east, you know, the biggest and messy one. My mother was drunk and my father was drugged, but I was lucky to have no drug addiction. I have been following a madam since I was a child. She was a retired acrobat and taught me a lot of things. Of course, she had a bad temper and I was beaten a lot, but fortunately I learned the real thing."

"When she wanted to sell me to a stinky middle-aged man, I ran out, I was 12 years old that year."

"Later, there was a meddling orphanage that insisted on letting me live there. I said okay, then I'll go. Later, someone there wanted to adopt me, but later I offended the administrator there and he wanted to abuse me, so I stole his diamond necklace and ran out again."

"I met a thief's leader. We all called her lucky mother. She specialized in raising little girls like us to steal things for her. I have practiced acrobatics and are good at it. She is her favorite child."

"But the good times didn't last long. She discovered the diamond necklace I had been hiding on. You know, it was very valuable, enough for her to retire and stop doing it. She asked me to hand it over, but I didn't want to do that, so I ran out again."

"Later I met a sister, her name was Maggie. She was very nice to me, but her boyfriend always beat her and wanted to kill her. When he was about to do something, I killed the man and was wanted. I didn't want to implicate my sister, so I kept wandering around, but sometimes I would send it back when I make money."

"That's it, a very ordinary story, not very exciting. I think I should not have the wonderful life experience of yours, right? The big hero."

Batman seemed a little silent, saying, "Not exciting enough? Not exciting enough?"

The catwoman shook her head and said, "Oh, I forgot, you are a young master who grew up in a wealthy area. People in your place should be going to school step by step, right?"

"But it's not there. There are no one or two students in the block. Actually, my mother loves me very much, but she is a little controlled by alcohol. She spends more time on cats than on me."

"My parents don't have much ability to support me in school, and my neighbors are like this. It's good that one of the parents is sober, at least he won't starve to death. I've also heard that both parents are drunk, but the child climbed onto the stove and was scalded to death."

"Of course, people like us have similar growth experiences. Fortunately, like me, they learn a craft. The best way out is to work for gangsters. If they can become a licensee in a casino, it would be a decent job. Maggie's boyfriend is a casino thug. He is so popular, and several drinkers there are sticking to him."

"Actually, lucky mother treats me well. Sometimes she is like a real mother. Whenever I steal a lot of jewelry for her, she will praise me and even give me candy. Of course, she either beat or scolded the children who can't steal things, but in my opinion, they are just young and will be the same as practicing hard for a few years."

The catwoman said intermittently in a relaxed and lively tone, and this kind of life was quite interesting as she described.

For example, when she practiced acrobatics, she fell off the eaves for the first time and hit a person. As a result, the unlucky drunkard just touched someone more than ten dollars from someone else, and then fell into the hands of the catwoman. She took the money to buy food for the cat raised by her mother, and got a kiss from her mother.

Batman didn't say anything. He listened quietly. Catwoman stopped as he spoke. She looked at Batman and said, "Okay, okay, I know this story disappoints you. I don't have any rich and wonderful college life, nor do I understand your job hunting goals. We are completely from two worlds. You rich people should have no interest in this kind of slum life, right? After all, it sounds dirty and messy."

Batman said in a low voice: "No, this is the most exciting story I have ever heard."

The catwoman raised her eyebrows and said, "Your mouth is so sweet. I feel a little embarrassed when you praise me. Actually, I am very happy because no one is willing to listen to me telling these things. Maggie is not in good health and can't go out. When we were chatting, she prefers to listen to my stories of me traveling through the rich areas and tells her the rich wives, the skirts and necklaces they wear."

Batman asked: "Do you just love jewelry that much?"

"I knew you were going to ask this question." The catwoman said with a blink of an eye.

"At the beginning, I didn't want to be beaten because these jewelry were treated better by Lucky Mom."

"But later when Lucky Mom asked me for that diamond necklace, I realized that what I actually like was their original luster, not how much it can be sold. I felt very heartbroken when I thought Lucky Mom wanted to sell these treasures for money."
