Chapter 103 Gotham Dragon (Part 1)

"…I want to say that, that's it, as you see, everyone knows what I used to do..."

On the counter of a bar, Roy Brown took a violin box out from under the table and put it on the table, then opened the lid with a click, revealing a gun inside.

"I'm from Chicago, yes, I was once the gang leader there, and a member of the mafia you know... "

"This is my weapon, have you seen it? This beautiful little baby, you call him a typewriter, but I like to call him Huff..."

"What do you think this is? What do you think I'm doing now? Do you think I should sit in the mayor's office and have tea? I want to tell you that this is not a threat..."

"I was born and raised in Chicago, so did my dad and grandpa. At that time, they said that this place would become the second kingdom. Many people come here and they have a dream of getting rich. Many big companies and big machines are all night long..."

"But the group left, leaving behind a fire and a pile of pollution. What left my hometown after the prohibition? A mess!"

"Rampages are rampant and everyone is in danger. What can we do? We must pick up our guns to defend ourselves..."

"So you said, Oh, Chicago's gangsters are flooded, there is a hell of hell, I'm going to tell you now, there is hell! Hell that can eat you bastards alive!"

"When those immigrants were gunned here, the governor would just say that everyone should calm down. After the gangster problems were rampant, the police station? Ha! Are you still embarrassed to mention this?"

"I want to ask you where the police department's funding went? Why does Chicago have the largest police training school in the East, but no new policeman is willing to stay here?"

"Do you believe it? A year ago, Chicago had only one gun per three policemen, and some logistics personnel could only protect themselves with sticks!"

"Is this what you call the policing bill?"

"Why do those damn public housing streets appear? Because there are too many people unemployed!"

"Why are they unemployed? Who should they blame for economic problems? What did the men who sat in Capitol Hill like fat pigs do? He lets Chicago people fend for themselves! That's all!"

"Now you have sent a telephone to condemn it, saying that Gotham has made a gangster boss the mayor, and I want to tell you that I will be the best mayor here!"

"Because I am a member of the gangster. If you don't solve our financial problems, then we will solve them ourselves. I will do whatever I want!"

"I know, some people say Gotham is worse than Chicago, oh, who else? Miami? Brudehaven? Imperial City?"

"Yes, we eastern cities are just a piece of shit in their eyes, but they just want to watch this shit in front of them. Have we got some help from them?"

Roy directly took the Chicago typewriter out of the advance box, then threw it heavily on the table and said, "Don't expect me to listen to your nonsense, those words that are good babies, go and talk to the people on the West Coast!"

"The East is like this. There is only one thing I have to do here. Take a gun, kill everyone who blocks me, and then lead everyone to make a fortune. I don't care whether they are gangsters or anyone else!"

After the speech, the screen of the TV on the bar flashed twice. The bartender patted the TV and said, "Okay, it seems that this old guy is broken again."

The guests complained a few times in dissatisfaction, and a large black man sat on the side of the bar with a wine glass and said, "It seems that the new mayor is not bad, he is a tough guy. He said what I want to say..."

"I was born in Gotham, yes, just two blocks away, you know, our boss took me out once before, where did you go? Oh, yes, it's the metropolis, people heard that I came from Gotham, it was like seeing something dirty..."

"I want to tell you that this mayor is quite special. The one who used to sit in the mayor's office would only be a turtle when facing the rebukes of those reporters."

Then he sneered and said, "Then he died, he had a car accident more than a month ago..."

"Oh, it's him. I don't remember his name, but I heard that he is the second-largest mayor of Gotham."

"I think this is definitely a record now. He is the godfather's godson and is much better than those soft-boy mayors."

The black man also said: "What he said makes sense. Whether it is Gotham or Chicago, this ghost place was like this before we were born. We live here and want to make more money. What's wrong? They just call us bastards all day long..."

"If I could be like the group of people in the metropolis, I studied and went to college since I was a child, wore a suit, tie, and blew air conditioning in the office, I wanted to be a gangster and get shot when I graduated!"

"He's just talking," another black man came over and ordered a glass of wine and said, "Can he really be a mayor and lead all the gangs to make money together? How can such a mayor? Even if those reporters don't scold him, the state government will not agree..."

"I don't ask him to take us to make money. I just hope that he will not write out any civilized city regulations and anti-gang security laws like those mayors before, and come and talk about it every day..."

"The hell is the anti-gang security law. Are there any people in Gotham not gangsters? Why didn't he say that he would just flatten the city?"

Everyone in the tavern burst into laughter, and some even made gestures of nuclear bomb explosions.

The next day, Roy's speech made headlines in major newspapers on the East Coast and even across the United States. You should know that it is no longer the period of alcohol ban. Most of the mafia are scattered and most of the gangster culture is no longer brilliant.

At this moment, a mayor jumped out and said, "I am a gangster, I am a mafia. I not only admit that I am a gangster, but also said that I want to make money with the gangster, which will of course cause criticism from major media."

The Metropolitan Daily commented that this was a "horrible regression of the times". The Global Times said that Roy was a "vulgar and barbaric villain", but no matter what, the title of "gangster mayor Roy Brown" resounded throughout the United States almost overnight.

But what is strange is that there are several cities who have a tacit understanding and have not spoken out about it. Some of their leaders even deliberately suppressed public opinion and showed an ambiguous attitude, including those East Coast cities mentioned by Roy.

In fact, every city with illegal industries as its pillar industry knows that Roy is telling the truth.

The history of these cities is similar, and the reasons for the emergence of gangs are all historical problems, either to fight against immigrants or to the remains of the relic left by the prohibition period.

Most of these cities find Roy relieved to scold, because no matter who it is, he will only order and supervise every day, and there is no practical action to improve the bad situation in these cities except for verbal condemnation and warnings.

Most people will only say that people born in these places are born with bad seeds, and their evils have created these crime capitals.

But in fact, the economic situation is the root of all this. Except for Gotham, most other gangster cities have become like this because of the high unemployment rate caused by the recession.

People in this environment are born gangsters. If you say you want to use the security bill to eliminate gangsters, it is better to use a nuclear bomb to flatten these cities.

Many of the gang leaders in these crime capitals led by Gotham were very dissatisfied. It was already difficult for us to put our heads on the belt and exchange our lives for money. These people who do not speak with their back pain are scolded all day long, and they dare not make investments and the economy is even more recessionable.

In the past, gangs felt that they were in the wrong, and no matter what, the illegal industry really couldn't get the top spot.

But now, Roy's speech reminds them one thing: these cities have become like this, and it is not the people who have to bear the main responsibility.

Not to mention the historical reasons, the inaction of the state government and Congress is also the main reason for the failure of the status quo.

I was born here and had nowhere to go. I joined the gangster. You said I was a villain and my heart was bright, but those verbal condemnations and security bills could not give me bread. I would not join the gangster and wait to starve to death?

Then why can't I be rotten? I am rotten!

The most important function of Roy's speech was to give these gangsters who had never read much a book with a relatively concentrated guiding idea, that is, it is not my fault that I am so bad now, but the fault of this world.

In fact, if you look at Gotham’s current situation, there is nothing wrong with this idea. People born in Gotham cannot choose their birthplace, and once you are born in Gotham, you can only choose this hell mode of life, otherwise you will not be able to survive.

In this world, geniuses and superhumans are the few, and ordinary people who are unable to change their classes are the majority.

In fact, those who condemn it may not be unaware of this truth, but Roy put this matter on the surface and pointed out incisively that it was precisely because of the inaction of various forces and the weakness and incompetence of violent law enforcement agencies that the cities with the highest crime rate in the United States were created. This undoubtedly seemed to tear off the last fig leaf of the politicians and men.

This speech naturally caused a huge rebound in the orderly society. The state MPs who were bribed by the Wayne Group could not withstand the pressure. The state government ordered the mayor of Gotham to suspend the office for review and planned to restart the process of mayor elections.

In the past, this process was just a formality in Gotham. Basically, Wayne said that whoever could do it was, and the gangsters didn't care, because the mayor of Gotham actually had no rights, and the gangsters would not listen to the mayor, and everyone would go to.

But the state government felt that Roy was making a big fuss this time, and even the federal government sent a warning. You are so bad, but you can't be so righteous. How shameless are we?

So they plan to re-engage a mayoral election.

This is a method they often use to calm similar troubles. As long as they restart the election process and let the person who did the wrong lose in the new election, they prove that his views are not what the people want, they will naturally calm most of the public opinion and the anger from their superiors. In past experience, this trick can be said to be proven to be successful.
