Chapter 75: Drive the Tiger and Eat the Wolf (Part 1)

The light sound of knife and fork colliding on the tableware, accompanied by the sound of the wine defoaming, Gordon first raised his glass and said, "Congratulations on moving to your new home!"

Bruce, Harvey, Schiller and Victor all raised their glasses, and the few people touched the glasses. Schiller took a sip of the wine. After he swallowed it, a warm feeling rose from his chest, and the firelight from the fireplace shone on the glass, like a burning flame.

"It's time for you to buy a house," said Harvey. "I've said that no one should live in the teacher's apartment for so long, and there is not even a coffee machine there. I just stayed for two nights and my waist hurts from the bed."

"I think it's pretty good," said Victor. "Gotham University's hardware facilities are pretty good. Of course, it's not comparable to this kind of manor. I hope you can leave a room for me here."

"Welcome anytime." Schiller raised his wine glass, and Bruce said while using a dining knife to cut the steak on the plate, "You should leave a room for us all, after all, I have left a room for you in Wayne Manor?"

"That's enough," Schiller said.

"God bless me to buy a big manor in my lifetime, but I'm happy to leave a room for you." Gordon said with a piece of sausage."

"How have you been lately? You should be saving enough money, right?" Harvey asked him.

"The income has declined recently, but it's not bad." Gordon picked up the napkin and wiped his mouth, and continued: "The godfather has not made any moves yet, and the rest of the gangsters are eager to try. Now it may be the peace before the storm."

"When did you save enough money, please tell me." Schiller said, "When did you save enough money," he said.

"What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, but I think I can help you refer to the apartment choices. After all, I also read a lot of information before buying a house."

"That happens. I'm worried about which building to buy. What do you think of the Pelican Community? Actually, I prefer Jasmine Lane, but considering that we may have a child in the future, it's a little small and there is no baby room."

"Have you ever considered Ninth Avenue? How about coming here to be my neighbor?" Harvey asked him with a smile.

"Oh my God, that's too far away, and most of the people living there are bachelors like you, right?"

Schiller, who was picking up the glass to drink, let out a "sneer". Gordon looked at him in confusion. Schiller smiled and said, "You are too busy recently and don't even know such a big thing."

"What's wrong?" Gordon glanced at Harvey and said, "What did I miss? Is he not a bachelor now?"

Victor asked: "Have you officially confirmed your relationship with Christine? Then you should avoid it in school. You know, there are almost as many girls who are interested in you as boys who are interested in her."

"Okay, it's just last week." Harvey shrugged.

Bruce looked at him in surprise and said, "Really? Oh my God! You won the sexy and beautiful girl in Gotham University so quickly. I thought you were also an old pedan."

Schiller tapped the edge of the plate with a fork and said, "I hope you don't mean anything. You can sit at this table with me for dinner. Could it be because you only scored 69 in the final exam?"

Everyone laughed, the flames of the fireplace were burning, and the reflections of many metal tableware on the dining table reflected each other, emitting rounds of soft halos. After the light overlapped, the whole room seemed to be illuminated.

After dinner, several people sat on the sofa in front of the fireplace. Harvey was a little drunk. He said, "What's this? Is our bachelor's night? Gordon is going to get married, and we can have a fight like this before he gets married..."

"I'll go first." Victor had already put on his coat and hat. Schiller turned to look at him and said, "Pick up the bag by the door, there were two bottles of wine and a pack of cigars."

"Oh! Thank you, why are you willing to give me these Cuban goods?" Victor opened the bag and asked with a smile.

"I remember you mentioned that the two days ago should be the wedding anniversary of you and your wife..."

"Oh, sorry, we don't know!" Bruce said: "Professor Fries, I'll send the gift to your office tomorrow."

"No, no, no need to be so polite." Victor smiled and said, "In fact, I'm very happy that you can understand me."

Victor said the truth. After all, no matter what, it is really scary to freeze his wife in a low-temperature freezer. He didn't expect anyone to understand his crazy behavior. The best thing for those who heard about this before was to persuade others to have birth, old age, sickness and death, so that he could see it a little bit.

But most of the friends he met in Gotham expressed very tolerant views on this, and they did not avoid mentioning this matter. In fact, Victor did not like others to look at him with sympathy, and then he avoided him every time he mentioned marriage and family situations, which would make him feel like a broom star.

But this was not the case with his friends, just as if his wife had just had a minor illness and was hospitalized. They would not forget her part when there was something happening normally, which comforted Victor, just as his wife was hospitalized because of ordinary diseases and would soon get better.

After Victor left, Gordon quickly left, and Bruce leaned on the sofa and said, "Look, these are all busy people. Only us, only us who are idle guys, can still get drunk here all night..."

"Actually, you are the only one, the richest man. I will revise my paper later. Harvey also has a complaint to write. You are the only one, this rich man who is useless and empty-headed..."

Bruce leaned against the sofa, closed his eyes, and waved his hand, not even speaking, obviously a little drunk. Harvey put on his clothes and said, "I'll send him back, don't really let him get drunk here."

"He has a cell phone in his pocket. You can find it and call his butler and ask him to transfer the helicopter to pick you up. Don't drive."

"In Gotham, what is drunk driving? I can even drive up to 120 miles..." Bruce said vaguely.

"Yeah, yeah, our genius racer..."

After Harvey took Bruce away, Schiller walked to the other side of the living room, picked up the phone's receiver, and started dialing.

Soon, the lights in the manor gradually went out, and Gotham's night fell into deep darkness again.

The next day, Gotham University president Sethton was in the office, holding his arm and saying confusion: "You mean, Professor Rodriguez was injured and hospitalized? ... Well, send a colleague representative to see him."

In the afternoon, Schiller, who was lying on the hospital bed, took the flowers from Anna and said, "Oh, thank you, I am so grateful..."

He was about to continue talking when Gordon rushed in. Seeing outsiders here, he hesitated for a moment. After Anna went out, Gordon looked up and down. This was the senior ward of Gotham Central Hospital, a single room with luxurious decoration. Schiller was lying on the hospital bed, covered with a quilt, and there was no abnormality in his face.

Gordon walked over and said with his waist on his back, "I heard you were attacked last night. Damn it, I'll leave later..."

Schiller smiled, not taking it seriously at all. Gordon said: "You can laugh. You knew before that the group of people in the Metropolitan area were very likely to be coming for you. You didn't even be alert and let them succeed. Where did you hurt? Organ or bone?"

Then, he said in a rather annoyed manner: "I don't know where that Batman has gone. If he stayed with you, this would definitely not have happened!"

"You really have confidence in him, but I don't want him to stay here. If his housekeeper comes to him, it will be much scarier than anyone else."

"Seriously..." Gordon looked up and down at Schiller, "Are you really injured? Why can't I see at all?"

He reached out and looked at his watch and said, "Also, it was already midnight when we left. It was only 7 o'clock in the morning. Your wound was healed so quickly? Even if you were just a knife, it would have to be at least ten hours? Or is it that the medical technology of the central hospital is so superb now?"

Schiller waved to him, signaling him to be calm, then lifted the quilt and sat up, stood up directly from the bed, walked to the window and stretched. Gordon widened his eyes and looked at his smooth movements like nothing happened.

"Damn it! You were not injured at all!" Gordon shouted: "I ran over in a hurry after receiving the news!"

"I'm very touched," Schiller said. "Your old pickup truck can actually drive from the police station to the hospital in just 20 minutes. Did you install a propeller or something for it?"

"I said, I can get the first driving course in the police school!"

Then Gordon shook his head and said, "Is this the point? Isn't the point? Why are you pretending to be sick? Have you finally had enough of the group of students at Gotham University?"

"Of course not...ah, okay, there's one thing, but that's not the point..."

"Do you know how I got this news? This morning, the police station was crying and howling because they heard that Arkham Mental Hospital was temporarily closed because there was no attending physician. I had never seen them so sad..."

"Yes, Arkham Mental Hospital is closed, and it's not just the police who are sad."

Gordon frowned, he wasn't stupid either. After thinking for a while, he said, "The gangsters won't stop there. They have tasted the sweetness in this industry."

"Yes, they probably are more anxious than you now. After all, you have almost saved up enough money, and your goal is to buy an apartment, so they are different."

"Why do you do this? What are the benefits of hanging them?"

"I was injured. The mental hospital was not open. A duck that was about to fly when they reached their mouths. So, why am I injured?"

"Why are you... you want to frame the group of people in the Metropolitan?" Gordon then realized, "You have to use these gangs to eradicate those people. Once they learn that you have been attacked by the group of people in the Metropolitan, that group of people is the culprit for the closure of mental hospitals, then they will definitely try their best to dig out the group of people and kill them."

Gordon paced around the room, walking and saying, "After running for so long, many people have spent the time and effort to put the industry into mental hospitals. They will not be happy to give up. It is like the last step of baking pizza, they will not be happy to stop."

"When you are sick, they will definitely find various ways to inquire. What's going on? The police all know who did it, so those gang leaders are unreasonable and don't know."

"But how can you be sure they'll go to trouble those people from the metropolis? Instead of trying to replace you with someone else, as before?"

"You are injured, but this does not mean that the psychiatric hospital must close. They don't know that this industry is your plan. They may just think, since the attending physician is sick, wouldn't it be enough to change one?"
