Chapter 15 Search and Rescue(1/2)
The sky cleared, and dozens of people sat at the top of the container truck, looking at the barracks on the side of the road, six large trucks slowly rushed by, leaving the scene in front of them in the distance.
The barracks were full of devastation, the walls broke into a huge gap, and the inside was empty, and all the zombies ran out.
Meng Feng took people to bring the last remaining weapons in the barracks back to the cart and filled nearly half of the container carriage.
Liu Yan held a small box in his hand and looked over and over. The conditions here were insufficient and the circuit was wet in the rainstorm. Materials were needed to be renovated to make the scene inside.
In the evening, the convoy set off again, along the highway, crossed the Nanling Mountains and left the province, heading north.
"Dad, I'm going to die." In the darkness, Cassia's voice came.
"No." Zhang Min whispered: "Baby, there are some side effects of antipyretics."
Cassin said: "I feel very uncomfortable..."
Zhang Min leaned against a cardboard box. The space they were in was very small, most of the places were filled with flour, rice, canned food and debris. In the narrow space, the carton was separated by half of Lin Musen's subordinates, and opposite were Meng Feng and Liu Yan, and the shelter inside was left for the women.
Cassia was rained all night and started to catch a cold and fever. After the fever subsided, it became wilted and could not eat. It rubbed and moved uncomfortable in Zhang Min's arms.
"Drink more water." Zhang Min said, "Is it hot?" He touched his adopted son's head, intending to distract him, and said, "Look at what Liu Yan has in his hand, what is that?"
Cassin shook his head and looked at Liu Yan opposite him: "Is the alarm clock?"
Liu Yan assembled a mechanical device under the dim flashlight, which looked like a disc.
"It's a life sign detector." Liu Yan said: "Meng Feng found it in the barracks. I adjusted it and used the temperature difference to achieve long-distance life fluctuation detection."
"Can you find the zombies?" Meng Feng said.
Liu Yan shook his head: "It is different from infrared technology. It can only be found, and the coverage is about three kilometers."
Zhang Min nodded and said, "Good thing."
Cassin said nothing again, his body was covered in sweat, but he hugged Zhang Min's waist tightly and did not let go.
There are three ways they go.
1: Enter Sichuan along the Sichuan-Yunnan Highway, leave the southern region, enter the Qinghai Plateau, and go to Tibet.
2: Take Gansu National Highway to Xinjiang with dry weather.
3: After leaving H Province, we head north, bypass the densely populated Central Plains, and walk towards Inner Mongolia through Ningxia, looking for a place to stay near □□.
The wider the land and sparsely populated areas, the safer it is. The harsh wind and sand environment can make zombies dry quickly, connective tissue slowly lose their activity, cell fluid dehydration and evaporation, and lose their ability to move; the cold environment will help humans, freeze zombies into stagnant ice, and destroy their muscle activity.
This is the suggestion made by Fang Xiaolei during his lifetime and the escape rules listed in the "Zombie Survival Manual". Liu Yan, Meng Feng and others discussed it for a long time and felt that it was safest to go to Tibet.
Lin Musen insisted on his own, rejected all proposals, and decided to sweep the town along the way, hoarded materials and headed north to establish his own exile base.
But the whole country was empty in an instant, and one dead city after another appeared in front of them, and they could not even find any call for help.
The journey is long and lonely. For a few hours, one morning, or even a whole day or two days, there was no one on the road, and the life detector in Liu Yan's hand had never sounded. Occasionally, you could see a few zombies stretching out their hands to scratch them outside the barren highway fence. In addition, there were only the dazzling blue sky and the still scorching sun.
The carriage was very stuffy. When they stopped on the side of the road for maintenance, Zhang Min asked that a sunroof must be opened.
The members of the convoy were already sick - they started a long journey after getting wet from the rain that day, and were exhausted, and even Lin Musen couldn't help coughing.
Zhang Min took the pulse to people in bad condition and said, "The environment in the car is not good and it is easy to infect diseases. You have to stop in a place, clean it thoroughly, sprinkle disinfectant, and have a good rest for sick people."
Lin Musen said impatiently: "It doesn't matter if you have a minor illness, you can hold on."
Zhang Min said: "The virus outbreak began with a minor illness before it started. No one knows its origin yet. How can you confirm that it is not a mutation from the common cold virus?"
Lin Musen was persuaded, and the convoy stopped at a gas station on the side of the road. Meng Feng took the lead in getting off the car and led people to search the nearby area.
"I heard aliens talking to me," Cassin said.
Liu Yan just got out of the car and frowned when he heard this, "What did the aliens say to you?"
Cassia: "I don't understand, I'm buzzing..."
Zhang Min smiled and said, "Baby, that's just tinnitus caused by a cold."
Liu Yan was so amused that he asked Xie Fenghua to get out of the car. Everyone walked around casually, while Lin Musen covered his mouth and nose and shouted to his subordinates to sprinkle disinfectant.
"The face is not very good." Liu Yan commented.
"It needs conditioning." Zhang Min sat on a box, holding Cassia in her arms. Cassia was very clingy, and Zhang Min seemed to be unable to live without him at all times. As long as the two of them had nothing to do, they would hold each other so hard. At first glance, the bystander was so numb that he was uncomfortable all over, but after watching for a long time, he got used to it.
Liu Yan wanted to learn Cassia instead, and when he was fine, he asked Meng Feng to come over and hug him like them. However, this action was really not as good as he could do.
Several gunshots came from afar. Meng Feng shot and killed three zombies and came with guns.
Zhang Min looked down at the map: "I thought of going to the nearby cities to check out some Chinese herbal medicines, coughing in the convoy, lung fire, wind and cold..."
Meng Feng said: "These are all minor illnesses, and if you don't die, you will be very lucky."
Zhang Min looked up and said, "If minor illnesses are not cured, they are likely to develop into major illnesses, rheumatism and pneumonia. Don't underestimate these, and they also have arthritis. Besides, Lin Musen's body is already sick."
"It's a bit dangerous to go to the city, and we don't have a car," Meng Feng said.
"That's not a car?" Liu Yan signaled to them to see that there was a small van with a collapsed door parked in the distance, and there were two motorcycles on one side.
Meng Feng said: "You can't drive, there is no fuel, and there is no car key."
Liu Yan said: "Search the bodies of the zombies you just killed, and you might find the car keys."
Meng Feng: "Do you think you are playing RPG games? You have searched it, but you don't. Or do you need to read the file and kill those zombies again and then cause the explosion rate to be reduced?"
Liu Yan laughed, left the container truck, went to the jeep on the side of the gas station to check. He filled the fuel tank, walked sideways into the driver's seat, pulled out a screwdriver and pried open the front cover, pulled out two lines, the lighter burned the plastic outer skin, and touched it casually.
The sound of grunting sounds and the car starts.
"Let's go to the nearby city to take a look! Find some medicine! The reserves are too short of medicinal materials." Meng Feng drove past the middle of the road and shouted at Lin Musen.
Lin Musen threw the smoke suspiciously, and Meng Feng said, "I'll be back soon."
Lin Musen said: "It's okay to go, but I can only wait for you ten hours. You can take all the responsibility."
Meng Feng felt a little uncomfortable when he heard this, frowned and said, "Everyone needs medicine, it's not a matter of one person, you..."
"Don't talk too much." Liu Yan said.
Zhang Min said: "Go."
Meng Feng turned the front of the car and got off the highway.
The autumn was clear and the air was cool. As soon as the container was shipped, the whole person felt much more comfortable. The doors on all sides were wide open, and the feeling of a ride was very wonderful. Liu Yan took out a box of tape and stuffed it into the tape recorder. Jacky Cheung's singing rang all the way.
The southernmost part of H Province, Qingyang City.
The truck drove slowly into the city, and the wind swept the broken paper across the street. The cartons that were wet and dried by the scorching sun spread across the street. The cars that hit the telephone poles were burned to black.
Liu Yan turned on the life detector in his hand, and there was no sign of survivors reacting.
Meng Feng drove carefully through the outer edge of the city. This city is one of the best big cities at the junction of Nanling provinces. Their location is just a high-tech development zone in the west of the suburbs.
Anyone with a little brain will not stay in the city, and Liu Yan himself has no other thoughts, but before leaving the south, he must first find the equipment he needs.
Meng Feng parked the car on the side of the road, and the zombies seemed to have left here and went to find food.
He and Zhang Min got out of the car and searched along the shopping street. Finally, they confirmed that there were no large number of zombies. They whistled and signaled that Liu Yan and Cassin could get off the car.
Cassia pushed the door and jingled. In the fast food restaurant, Zhang Min wiped the counter full of dry blood with a cloth, stuffed a broken arm under the counter, pretended to press the cash register, and supported his hands in front of the counter: "Welcome, what do you want to eat?"
Cassia smiled and looked up at the menu board above.
"Let's get a Kung Pao Chicken." Cassin said seriously.
"Oh no," Zhang Min said seriously: "We use gutter oil, and you look like you have a cold yet. It's not good to eat it if you're too greasy."
Cassin said: "Is there any Coke?"
Zhang Min: "Carbonated soda is not good for health."
Cassia: "My dad often says this, haha, is green tea okay? It's OK to be unified."
Zhang Min: "Don't mention it, do you know what's inside?"
Cassia: "?"
Zhang Min pretended to be a cruel expression: "It's all preservatives and fragrances! Didn't your dad tell you?!"
Cassia: "…"
Zhang Min said kindly again: "Do you want scrambled eggs with tomatoes?"
Cassia: "Well...you can do it a little, don't be too sour, how much does it cost?"
Zhang Minbin said politely: "Today is a zombie day, and you don't need money. Please sit down and wait, my love will be delivered to you immediately."
Zhang Min entered the kitchen, Cassin scratched his head, and sat in his seat looking at the flyer.
A moment later, the fragrance came from the kitchen, and Meng Feng was stunned.
“It can still be used?”
"The gas is canned, and the eggs are in the refrigerator. Although the power has been out of power, it has not broken yet. It has only been left for half a month. The tomato sauce and potatoes are also good." Zhang Min kicked open the kitchen door, held the plate, and came out around the apron.
"What about this?" Cassia stirred with noodles.
Zhang Min: "The noodles are dry and can be cooked after being put into the pot. And this one..."
Zhang Min took out three cups of coffee, a cup of hot milk, water from the alcohol stove, sugar, milk powder, companion, and black coffee from behind the counter.
To be continued...
