Chapter 1 Night Road(1/2)
"Liu Yan, where is your soldier classmate?"
Liu Yan, who was busy modifying the drawings, ignored it until the girls next door laughed and asked for a third time, and Liu Yan looked up at them.
A girl said, "Aren't you planning to find a job here?"
"Meng Feng..." Liu Yan took the eraser and gently wiped it on the perspective view: "His parents asked him to go home and left. I left last month, your reflection arc is so long."
"What a pity." Another girl smiled and said, "That handsome soldier, no wonder I haven't seen anyone waiting for you for dinner."
Liu Yan glanced at them and teased, "Who fell in love with him? Please give you his phone number." As he said that, he blew a light breath and blew away the rubber dander, as if driving away a stubborn memory in his mind.
The ringtone rang, and after class, the students rushed out of the classroom.
A ray of blazing summer sun shone in from the spotless glass window. The huge classroom was empty, and Liu Yan sat alone in the last row, packing up the product renderings in his hand.
This is the anniversary of his love relationship with Meng Feng one month and twelve days after his breakup.
Seven years ago, Liu Yan and Zhuma Meng Feng, whom he met since childhood, went to the senior year of Z Middle School, confessed their love and fell in love. After the college entrance examination, Meng Feng went to join the army and Liu Yan was admitted to a university. Liu Yan still remembered that after going his own way, they still remained in touch with each other and looked forward to being together again on the day of graduation and retirement.
In the second year of Liu Yan's university, he was sent to Germany as an exchange student because of his excellent grades. He was far away from a foreign country, but he still did not forget his lover. After returning to China, he was admitted to graduate school. In the year of his second year of graduate school, Meng Feng finally retired from the army and came to S City where Liu Yan studied. When he met again, he did not have any surging feelings or intense nights. Meng Feng hugged Liu Yan and slept quietly for one night.
Liu Yan didn't move, but he had insomnia all night. Looking at the ceiling, he felt that there was something different.
Meng Feng lived in S City and planned to find a job to live with Liu Yan. However, he ran around and had a low education, but he really couldn't find a satisfactory job. In the end, he left.
Liu Yan did not interfere with Meng Feng's choice. When he closed the door, Meng Feng was outside and Liu Yan was inside, they knew in their hearts that they were no longer the high school lovers seven years ago. Time was the sharpest knife, dragging the mud for many years, and the broken past was finally broken by one and two ruthlessly when we met again.
In the blink of an eye, time leaked through the cracks of fingers, like delicate sand and powder, no longer traces. People are no longer the people they used to be, and love is not the love they used to be. You cannot blame strange love, and you cannot blame each other's lives. No one is wrong, everything comes from oneself.
Seven years later, today, one month and twelve days after breaking up, Liu Yan sat alone in the classroom and suddenly felt an indescribable feeling.
"Liu Yan!" A classmate leaned through the front door: "The tutor is waiting for you, why don't you go?"
Liu Yanru woke up from her dream, quickly packed up the drawings and headed towards the office.
"I've seen the design drawings." The department director said: "There are many minor problems, but there are no major problems."
Liu Yan put down the drawings, took the coffee handed by the department director, looked at the bookshelf while drinking, and asked, "Can I borrow some books and go back and take a look?"
"Of course." Liu Yan's mentor was a fifty-year-old man with a very graceful demeanor. He sat at the desk and took a sip of coffee: "Your designs are very focused on purpose and have a strong Icelandic style, but ergonomics is your weakness, which is simply terrible."
Liu Yan smiled self-deprecatingly: "When I was in Bauhaus class, I had been doing a bad job in the human-machine. Teacher, what is this?"
Liu Yan pulled out a book on the bookshelf: "Zombie Survival Manual". He couldn't help but laugh.
The department director liked Liu Yan very much and explained with a smile: "Did you know that the US Department of Defense issued an early warning guide online in May, and the official claimed that this was to remind everyone to deal with the infinite possibilities in the future."
Liu Yan flipped through the book casually, laughing and crying: "Is it true? I'll borrow it back and take a look."
"I have written all your product modification opinions on the USB flash drive." The department director said: "Don't forget your homework while reading the book."
Liu Yan said helplessly: "Okay."
Liu Yan stuffed the USB flash drive into his pocket, came out with his laptop, took out his cell phone and called the home phone, but no one answered.
Today is Friday, and Liu Yan is planning to go home and go back to the dormitory to pack up his things. His dormitory friends are watching the live broadcast online.
"Cui Xiaokun, are you going home this week?" Liu Yan asked.
"No, what?" said the roommate: "Are you going back?"
Liu Yan: "Pick up girls?"
Cui Xiaokun: "No - say something quickly, what do you want to invite me to do?"
Liu Yan smiled and said, "Can you lend me a car? I'll come back tomorrow night and fill you with gas."
"Get out!" Cui Xiaokun said angrily.
A moment later, the car keys flashed and flew over. Cui Xiaokun was a graduate student in the automation department next door. He bought a used car. Liu Yan took the key and said, "Thank you, I don't want to go to the station to take the bus."
Cui Xiaokun took off his headphones: "Hey, Liu Yan, are you sure you really want to go home?"
Liu Yan buried his head in the phone: "What?"
Cui Xiaokun clicked on a video news and signaled: "Look."
"Another wave of rabies broke out in City Z this summer. The relevant departments called on the public not to go out at home and wait for community hospitals to notify the injection of new vaccines..."
Liu Yan frowned and asked, "When did it happen?"
Cui Xiaokun raised his chin, picked up his cup and drank some water: "The news that was repeatedly broadcast this morning, isn't your mother a doctor?"
The Liu Yan family is a single-parent family. They grew up with their mother since childhood and felt keenly abnormal.
"Don't go out?" Liu Yan's eyebrows frowned.
"The authorities spray disinfectant water in most communities and evacuated people in the city center, prohibiting unrelated people from entering and leaving hospitals and other public places, and the subway is temporarily suspended..."
Liu Yan called her mother's cell phone and was busy. At this time, she should be working overtime. No wonder no one answered the phone at home.
"I'll leave first." Liu Yan said.
"Good luck, don't be bitten by a dog." Cui Xiaokun said lazily.
Liu Yan opened the car door, threw the computer and clothes into the back seat, threw the book borrowed from the instructor in the passenger seat, reversed the car, and set off.
AM12:00S City Expressway Intersection.
Liu Yan took out his wallet, paid, connected the Bluetooth to the speaker on the car, pressed the automatic redial, and the jeep rushed to the expressway.
The expressway from City S to City Z is empty and endless, with the midsummer sun shining brightly, and the sky at the end of the road is dazzling blue.
There are long queues of roads facing City S, and vehicles are constantly pressing the lama.
PM3:30 The last section of the expressway.
The phone finally connected, and Liu Yan said, "Mom!"
"Yanyan...Yanyan..." The woman on the other end of the phone said with anxiety.
Liu Yan immediately drove the car to the stop on the roadside. The phone was noisy, mixed with the sound of whimpering wind. The woman said, "Yan Yan--"
Liu Yan stopped the car and shouted: "Mom! Are you okay?"
The woman said, "Don't go home, listen to mom, don't go home first, ah, mom is fine, mom loves you, Yanyan..."
Liu Yan: "What happened at home?! Are you in the hospital or at home? Why don't you answer the phone call at home?"
"Yan Yanyan, staying in school, your mother is safe and will call you..."
"Mom loves you, Yanyan..."
The phone rustled and hung up.
Liu Yan sat in the driver's seat and turned off the phone when he was calling again.
Liu Yan was silent for a moment, and then called Meng Feng's number. His mobile phone number had been deleted on his phone book, but that number had not been changed in five years. Perhaps its traces could never be erased from his heart.
Meng Feng's phone was also busy. Liu Yan turned around and got off the highway. He was uneasy and rushed to the line to wait in the traffic back to City S.
PM3:40 The highway turns around.
Liu Yan reversed again, drove onto the expressway, and continued to move forward in the direction of City Z at a rapid speed.
The radio sounded in the car.
"The rabies phenomenon in City Z has been initially controlled, and the municipal hospital is organizing rescue and treatment. The government calls on all citizens outside the country to not go home for the time being, so as not to cause traffic jams... The weather forecast will be played for you below..."
PM7:30 at the end of the expressway, downtown Z.
A crimson-red cloud burned in the sky, as bright as blood stained. Everything was as usual. The toll station on the expressway collected the bills and opened the turns to allow the vehicle to enter.
Liu Yan drove while paying attention to both sides of the road. The sun sets, street lights on the city center, and there are few vehicles. He should have heard the notification on the radio and went home.
The Internet is crowded and it is almost impossible to log in. The mobile phone signal is intermittent and cannot be sustained.
PM9:50
The more you open to the city center, the fewer pedestrians will be. Liu Yan's home is not far from the city center. Entertainment venues and supermarkets along the road have been closed, and people are walking around in groups of three or three.
There were three police cars parked at the intersection of the street, blocking the roadblock. Liu Yan was shocked and immediately stepped on the brakes.
The lights on the top of the police car flashed, but there was no sound. Liu Yan got out of the car and looked away for a while, but he didn't see anyone, and he couldn't help but feel extremely confused.
Where did the police go?
Liu Yan decisively got into the car, pulled up the seat belt, stepped on the accelerator and broke the roadblock, and drove along the long street.
Most of the buildings on both sides were dark and a few balconies were still on. Liu Yan closed the car door and ran to the apartment building where he lived. The security guard at the front desk was no longer there.
Liu Yan fell into a confused panic, raised his head and turned around several times: "Is anyone there?!"
No one answered, Liu Yan ran into the lobby and pressed the elevator hard. The lights were pale and stopped on the ninth floor with a tingling sound.
Liu Yan rushed out of the aisle with a gust of wind, took out the keys and opened the door. The things at home were messy. It should be that his mother was hurriedly called to work overtime and had not cleaned up properly.
Liu Yan took a deep breath, took out a box of ice milk from the refrigerator and poured it down. He went out and rang the doorbell of his neighbor's house one by one. After a circle, no one opened the door. Liu Yan took a few steps back and peeked through the crack in the lower door. None of them had the lights on.
Liu Yan stood there for a while, swallowed his saliva, went home to pack up a few clothes, a blanket, and took out the first aid kit under the cabinet. When he went out, the lights on all floors of the entire building flashed and then went out.
The elevator stopped and the entire city center fell into darkness, only the street lights of independent lines were still on.
Liu Yan opened the curtain and looked out. There was power outage around him, and only another community in the distance was brightly lit. He took the Swiss army knife and emergency light, carried the emergency light in one hand, pushed the fire alarm passage and quickly went downstairs.
To be continued...
