Chapter 7 Wisdom to Solve Murder Cases

Since the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, all of the courts and the country have mixed civil and military affairs, generals, Confucian and Taoism, and all of them have regarded practicing martial arts and swords as a means of learning. Chen Tuan, Li Qi, Ling Jing and others are recognized martial arts masters in the world. Ling Jing comes from a family of Xuzhou, and has been practicing martial arts for generations. There are many people in the clan who are indifferent to the court and are obsessed with mountains, rivers, fields and forests. The uninvited guest in the Marquis' Mansion that Ye was Ling Jing's closed disciple, named Liu Qingye.

Liu Qingye visited the Marquis' Mansion at night, and came for his father, but it had nothing to do with Li Mijiao.

Liu Qingye's grandfather was a minor official of Daming Mansion. Liu Qingye's mother looked handsome when she was young. Once, she met a young man who was deceived by his sweet words. After the sea and mountains were swore, she was in him. The young man was the abbot of Wanshou Temple later. He fought with others and killed someone and was forced to join Wanshou Temple in Dezhou to become a monk. At that time, Liu Qingye's mother was pregnant. In desperation, she became a monk after giving birth to a child at home. After Liu Qingye's grandfather's parents were seven years old, she joined Ling Jing's disciple and grew up with Ling Jing and his wife. Ling Jing treated her like a daughter.

Liu Qingye's mother sighed about her life experience and was worried all day long. She died when Liu Qingye was fourteen years old. After her mother's death, her grandfather told Liu Qingye about her mother's experience, and Liu Qingye only realized who her father was. After being killed by the abbot of Wanshou Temple, Liu Qingye came to Dezhou. Like everyone's judgment, she believed that it could only be done by the passing Black Diao Army. She did not know her father's bad deeds. Although she did not have much affection for her father, she was a father-daughter after all. Therefore, Liu Qingye came to Zhengzhou to find out the truth and fulfill her daughter's obligations.

Unexpectedly, at Hou Dayong's mansion, Liu Qingye was thrown to the ground by a man. He had martial arts skills and had no place to use his skills. Although he finally escaped, he was even arrested by the man, which was really shameful.

After Liu Qingye thought about this incident, he must have been on high alert and did not dare to go to the Hou Mansion again. Liu Qingye disguised himself as a man and waited in the best teahouses and taverns in Zhengzhou. On the one hand, there were many people coming and going to hear all kinds of news; on the other hand, she believed that as a general in the army, there was no reason not to come to these places. But after waiting for many days, he saw Hou Dayong many times on the streets. Hou Dayong was surrounded by his personal guards, dressed neatly and majestic, and he hurriedly passed by.

Liu Qingye saw the refugees kneeling down to thank him at the gate of the Hou Mansion. He found out from the teahouse and the tavern that Hou Dayong and the Black Eagle Army had a good reputation. They were not in Zhengzhou for a long time and had been unanimously praised by the gentry and the people, especially the act of resettling refugees, which was even more popular. For a moment, Hou Dayong actually became the "blue sky". Liu Qingye did not want to make things difficult for Hou Dayong anymore. More than ten days later, he returned to Xuzhou. Along the way, he still felt embarrassed when he thought about the incident that night. He didn't know who the man was. He should be the guard of the Hou Mansion. He had the opportunity to teach him a lesson.

The officials of prefectures and counties are all "people-friendly" officials. On the one hand, they must be responsible for the public security of the prison and collect taxes and service; on the other hand, they must "promote moralization", "encourage agriculture and sericulture" and "be sure to know the sufferings of the people." (Note: 1) After Hou Dayong arrived in Zhengzhou, he rectified the Zhengzhou army and resettled refugees, and did not care too much about the matters of the prison.

One morning, Hou Dayong and his personal guards had just arrived at the yamen. A middle-aged woman stopped the horse's head and knelt on the ground, holding a piece of paper with both hands. After Hou Dayong arrived in ancient times, he encountered a complaint for the first time. He took the paper and looked at it briefly, it turned out to be a murder case.

The case is simple: the complaint woman had a son named Lu Run, who gathered together three days ago. On the day of the marriage and the day of the great joy, many relatives and friends came. Lu Run was on a whim and toasted to her relatives and friends one by one, and finally got drunk. When she woke up, she found that the bride was naked and died on the bed. The woman's family refused to submit to the county, and the county put Lu Run in prison in the name of killing someone after drinking.

It was a great joy, but it turned out to be a bloody disaster in the blink of an eye. Lu Run's father was so angry that he couldn't get sick. Lu Run's mother was eager to save her son. He heard that the new defense envoy, wise, went to Zhengzhou to stop the defense envoy's commander and sued the woman, "My son is wronged and is always the most kind-hearted. He refuses to step on one of the ants to death. How dare you kill someone? Please be the master."

Hou Dayong ordered the soldiers to summon military officer Liang Shouheng and judicial officer Qian Xiangnan. After the two arrived, they looked at the paper. After reading the two officials, Hou Dayong and the other two officials asked, "What do you think of this case?"

Liang Shouheng said: "The magistrate of Xingze County handled it properly. On the wedding night, the bride died naked in the new house. It should be that the groom failed to get drunk."

Qian Xiangnan, a judicial military officer, was in his thirties. He was not good-looking and had a pair of small eyes. He said, "The magistrate of Xingze County has reported this case. According to the coroner's investigation, the woman had a cramp on her neck, which should have been strangled to death, and the corners of her face were black and blue, which should have been caused by covering her mouth. After being drunk, Lu Run carried her into the new house by her family and placed it on the new bed, which shows that Lu Run was drunk at that time. Since she was drunk, how could she have the strength to have sex with the bride? Why did she cover the bride's mouth and finally strangle the bride to death? It was very puzzled. The subordinates believed that the case was unreasonable and had asked the magistrate of Xingze County to investigate again."

Hou Dayong thought for a while and said, "It makes sense. Since that's the case, please go to Xingze County to find out the case and pay attention to what the groom usually shows when he is drunk."

After Qian Xiangnan received the order, he took Lu Run's mother and rushed to Xingze County immediately. The county magistrate of Xingze County found that the case was so simple and there was no need to re-invest. Qian Xiangnan came to investigate again was even more a big deal, but when he heard that it was the defensive envoy's order, he did not dare to neglect it, so he took out the case file and asked Qian Xiangnan to check it out.

After reading the file, Qian Xiangnan asked Lu Run to ask questions. Lu Run shouted that he was wronged and insisted that he was drunk and didn't know how to get into the house. Qian Xiangnan thought that there were several deep marks on the bride's back on her nails in the file, so he asked Lu Run to stretch out his hand. Lu Run's nails were short, and Qian Xiangnan carefully looked at it. Although Lu Run's hands were dirty, there was no debris inside his nails.

Qian Xiangnan asked Lu Run's neighbors one by one, knowing that Lu Runnan came and went to sell goods from the north, did some small business, and liked to have sex on weekdays. Many neighbors said that Lu Run was sleepy after drinking and could not wake up no one.

Qian Xiangnan brought the county magistrate and others to Lu Run's home and re-inspected the scene. Qian Xiangnan asked, "Has anyone touched this room?"

Lu Run's mother said, "After the sunrise, my family thought the house was unknown and no one came again."

Qian Xiangnan asked the county magistrate and others to wait outside the house. After entering the house, they checked the bed, door, and windowsills. There were several footprints hidden on the windowsills, and there were two small holes on the window paper. The furnishings in the house were installed according to typical new houses, and all the items were all included. There was a copper realm in front of the table and a basin of water in front of the copper realm.

After Qian Xiangnan came out, he had already realized something and said to the people of the Lu family: "Write the names of everyone who ate the wedding banquet, and do not make a name for them."

Qian Xiangnan excluded women, who were over fifty years old, and then asked the police to bring all the twenty-four people on the list to the yamen. Qian Xiangnan ordered the soldiers to open them all, and each of them replied separately: "When will you go home with whom after drinking, and who will meet the first person after you go home."

After the answer, Qian Xiangnan ordered the sender to each company to check the situation immediately. If any situation in all aspects can be confirmed, they will be sent home.

In this way, the four people's answers could not be confirmed. After one day of detention, the two were forced to confess. After drinking, they made an appointment to go to the yard. Qian Xiangnan asked someone to verify it, scolded him and then sent him home.

In the end, only two were left. Qian Xiangnan ordered the two to stretch out their hands, one of them had long nails. Then they asked the two to take off their shoes and take them to Lu Run's house in person. The shoes and the marks left by the windowsill were basically the same.

Qian Xiangnan was confident and asked the two to confess, but they fought to the death. Qian Xiangnan asked them to beat them hard, and then locked them in a cell.

The next day, they said to the two of them: "If you don't know, unless you don't have any ideas, who will give you the crime, and the accomplices will be punished with ease, and think about it carefully."

On the third day, the two began to deny each other, and at this point, the truth of the case was revealed.

The case is actually simple. On the day of Lu Run’s wedding, his two friends made an appointment to listen to the corner after drinking. Tomorrow, they would make fun of Lu Run and ask for another glass of wine. After everyone left, the two came back quietly and hid under the window. Only Lu Run’s snoring sound was heard, but the candle was not extinguished, so they gently poked the window paper and looked in. Seeing Lu Run sleeping soundly on the bed, the bride was wiping her body facing Tongjing.

Both of them are bachelors, lazy and often do things to steal. Lu Run is loyal and likes to make friends. They usually drink with Lu Run. When they saw Lu Run drunk, they knew that even if they hit thunder, they would not wake up Lu Run. When they saw the bride's body, they were very brave. When the bride blew out the candles, they went to bed, and quietly turned into the window. When the bride found out, her mouth was covered. They were afraid that the bride would scream, so one covered her mouth and choked her neck, and the other was on the move. Just when one succeeded, she found that the bride was motionless. It seemed that she had used too much force and strangled the bride to death. When the bride died, they quickly ran away.

After Lu Run was captured into the county government, they thought they were doing everything in perfect condition and they should be safe. Who knew that heaven was not as good as humans, and Qian Xiangnan discovered it.

After hearing Qian Xiangnan tell the story of solving the case, Hou Dayong couldn't help but applaud, "Excellent, Qian Judgment Sike is better than Song Ci."

"Who is Song Ci?"

Hou Dayong thought that Song Ci was not born yet, and said, "Song Ci is a master in ancient books and an expert in case-based judgment."

Qian Xiangnan read a lot of poetry and books, but he had never heard of Song Ci's great name. When he saw the defensive envoy mention it, he only said that he was ignorant and could not ask again.

Through this case, Hou Dayong had a good impression of Qian Xiangnanda. Seeing that his thoughts were meticulous, courageous and capable, he was willing to promote him. The magistrate of Xingze County was over fifty years old. Hou Dayong recommended him to go to Zhengzhou to become Sima, and from the seventh rank to the fifth rank, Qian Xiangnan was appointed as the magistrate of Xingyang County, and from the seventh rank to the seventh rank.

Fugong Zhengzhou specializes in the agency business for Hou Dayong. After preliminary preparations, the business gradually got on the right track.

The first thing to make money is the shop that produces agricultural tools. Because the use of a piston bellows has increased the box temperature, and with the guidance of Dou Tian and Guo Baoyi, the quality of the farm tools has been significantly improved, but the cost has been reduced. Hou Dayong came up with the idea and indicated the words "Fujia Iron Shop" on each farm tool, and it is publicized to the public that if there are these four homes, the quality is guaranteed and free maintenance is provided.

Since the "Fujia Iron Shop" is of better quality than ordinary ironware, the price is cheaper, soon the products of the "Fujia Iron Shop" occupied the Zhengzhou market. Seeing that the farm tools were easy to sell, Hou Dayong asked Fugong to start developing indoor utensils, such as kitchen knives, scissors and other daily necessities. The production scale expanded rapidly. Fujia Iron Shop recruited another group of craftsmen. This time, Fugong adopted Hou Dayong's test questions last time, which shocked the candidates.

Fujia Iron Shop also received a large order. The military officer under the Zhongwu Jiedushi accidentally saw the products of Fujia Iron Shop. He thought the quality was very good. When he asked about the price, it was cheaper than making it by himself. He ordered 2,000 files, pliers, and straw cutters for the army.

Hou Dayong asked Fugong to open a branch in Kaifeng, which specialized in high-end ironware. So Fugong took good iron products from Fujia Iron Shop in Zhengzhou to Kaifeng.
