Two hundred and sixty, deception
Deception has been running through every corner of human history.
Human beings cannot do without deception. From another perspective, deception is the embodiment of biological wisdom.
The higher the IQ, the more the creature will achieve its goal by deceiving means, and the more complicated and difficult the way of deceiving becomes.
In a complex human society, deception cannot even be generalized. It is necessary to carefully identify and classify it, and it is not an exaggeration to write an encyclopedia for it.
Looking at human history, even if you span thousands of years and look at the East and the West, the loopholes and doubts in history books are everywhere with the word "deception".
The small ones are robbed by chickens and dogs, and the big ones are like Song Taizu wearing yellow robe. There are countless. Deception can sometimes save a lot of manpower, material resources and resource consumption, thereby achieving unexpected goals.
However, it is simple to deceive people, and it is difficult to deceive many people. Therefore, those famous magicians are so respectable. To a certain extent, people do not hate deception. As mentioned before, deception is the embodiment of wisdom.
If universal immortals do these tricks in Kyoto, everyone will only think that they are having fun and will inevitably doubt them, and then try to expose them. After all, the people in the capital live and work in peace, have enough food and clothing, follow the Three Bonds and Five Constant Virtues, and have spiritual sustenance.
But in Luzhou, a place where wars and chaos are in chaos, the people are miserable and they are called unresponsive every day, and they are called unresponsive. They are unable to respond to seeking heaven and worshiping the earth, and worshiping ancestors, so people will naturally despair. At this time, any other spiritual indoctrination is easy to take advantage of the situation.
The universal immortals seized this opportunity. If the people could still think rationally, they would most likely not fall into his tricks.
Because his scams are not very clever, he does not distinguish between Taoism and Buddhism, does not say the logic is chaotic, and he still has many doubts. Unfortunately, the people are hungry and cold at this time, and are in the fear and torture of the Suzhou rebels. Few ordinary people can still consider problems rationally.
When Li Xingzhou first heard his sister-in-law talk about the universal immortals, he guessed some of his scams. Then when he went up the mountain, he carefully observed the situation to verify his guess.
It was almost the same as he thought, not how smart he was, but that these ancient tricks were all kinds of strange and diverse. In later generations, people specially set up books to organize them and display them in front of later generations. When it comes to the strange stories, this universal immortal was considered a loss of culture.
When Li Xingzhou used his acting skills to get the Buddhist beads of this universal immortal, he knew that this was done.
His rude behavior stunned everyone.
Li Xingzhou has actually been paying attention to the Buddhist beads on the necks of this universal immortal. Most of the Buddhist beads are made of wood, including ordinary wood, and some are precious ones such as Hainan Huanghuali, Indian small-leaf red sandalwood, Vietnamese Huanghuali, Golden Silk Nanmu, etc.
However, there are almost no wood patterns on the neck of the universal immortal. It is brown and white, relatively small, and the gap between Buddhist beads is loose. He just counted it while he was talking and there were thirty-seven. This number is abnormal.
Buddhist beads usually have fixed numbers, let alone a monk like him.
Generally speaking, there are seven fixed numbers:
One thousand and eighty: It means that each of the ten realms has 108 kinds of troubles, and there are a total of 1,080 kinds.
One hundred and eight: means to realize the 188 Samadhi and eliminate the 188 worries.
Fifty-four: represents the fifty-four levels of the Bodhisattva’s practice process, namely the ten faiths, ten abides, ten practices, ten dedication, ten stages, and four good roots.
Forty-two: represents the forty-two levels of the Bodhisattva’s practice process, namely the ten abductions, ten practices, ten dedication, ten stages, equal enlightenment, and wonderful enlightenment.
Twenty-seven: It represents the twenty-seven wise positions of the Hinayana practice of the four directions and four fruits, namely the eighteen learnings of the first four directions and the nine unlearnings of the fourth fruit Arhat.
Twenty-one: represents twenty-one, ten paramitas, and Buddha fruit.
Fourteen: It means Guanyin’s fourteen fearlessness.
But these thirty-seven of his pills were wrong, and when he saw that his rosary was loose and each pill was huge, Li Xingzhou understood what was going on. Obviously, there were fewer ones. There should have been forty-two pills before, so where did the five pills go?
Faced with everyone's confusion, Li Xingzhou slowly raised the rosary in his hand: "The great immortal was radiant for three days without eating. He is such a good magic power, but I don't understand one thing."
As he said that, he pinched Buddhist beads one by one, then pulled one of them off at once, and then before the universal immortal exclaimed, he fell to the people: "Pick it up and try it."
The people were still hesitating. The universal immortal was obviously shocked. He was about to come forward and say something. After enduring for a long time, Di Zhi was unsheathed and scared that the universal immortal who was guilty of being afraid to step forward.
At first, no one dared to try it. After all, it was something of a universal immortal, and he was afraid of retribution.
After a stalemate for a while, a bold young man squeezed out of the crowd and stepped forward, picked up the Buddhist beads, took a bite, but in the end he just bit the Buddhist beads and turned into two. He couldn't help it and swallowed them all, without having time to chew them.
"What does it taste like, say it out loud." Li Xingzhou asked him loudly.
The young man was stunned for a while: "It's bitter, sweet and very fragrant."
It seemed that he was extremely hungry, so he quickly ate the remaining half of his hand, and this time he chewed it for a while before swallowing it.
Li Xingzhou pinched the Buddhist beads again, picked out a few of them with different touches, pulled them off, and handed them to the people around him: "Try them all, each of them bite them a little, taste the magic power of your so-called universal immortals, hahahaha."
This time, the crowd started to stir up, and several people took the initiative to take the Buddhist beads, each of them took a bite in front of them, and then handed them to the next one. Slowly, people couldn't believe it and looked at the white-colored universal immortal behind them.
"This, this......" An old man with his hair loose and slightly better clothes trembled his lips and said in disbelief: "I know what this is. I used to run a pawn shop. I know what this is. This thing is Liao Dynasty mountain ginseng!"
As soon as he said this, the crowd caused a sensation.
"That's right!" Li Xingzhou said loudly: "It's just mountain ginseng, and it can be carved into Buddhist beads. It is mixed in such a large string of Buddhist beads. The ginseng is not low in age, and it is very nourishing."
Everyone around them gradually understood what was going on. They all looked at the universal immortal who was already trembling and wanted to escape, but was captured by Di Zhi.
This kind of fraud was found in ancient times. Some scammers would pretend to be monks, then mix in the samsara pills in the rosary, and sit in front of the door when they see a wealthy family. Two or three are too sips of food, and they only drink a few sips of water. As a result, a few days later, he is still safe and sound.
In fact, they are all quietly supported by the ginseng contained in the rosary.
Many people think that they are enlightened monks and quickly worship them. This trick was gradually exposed until the Ming and Qing dynasties, so many incredible legends of laity were left behind.
However, this is also an extremely test for the liar's acting skills and perseverance. Shendan can satisfy his hunger slightly and prevent the cold at night, but it does not provide enough energy. It is not something that ordinary people can endure after sitting for several days.
"That's right, he can live without eating, and it's this thing." Li Xingzhou raised the rosary in his hand high: "There is a samsara pill mixed in the middle of this Buddhist bead! He quietly relies on this thing every day to support him. I know that you also want to live without eating, but there is no such thing in the world!"
The people around were stunned and looked at the universal immortal who was already pale and trembling all over.
Li Xingzhou said to Qi Rui, "Put up that Guanyin statue for me."
More than two-thirds of the Guanyin statue unearthed in front of this temple, and some of them were buried in the soil. This is why the people believe that the universal immortals are the sons of Guanyin and have magical powers, which is the true immortal, because this stone statue broke through the ground.
After experiencing what happened just now, the people in the inner circle understood that this universal immortal was a liar, and the news continued to spread to the outside world in whispers, but some people were still afraid. The old man who had just recognized the ginseng whispered: "Prince, this living Buddha is a living Buddha that he grew out of the soil. I am afraid... I am afraid I can't move."
"Yes, yes, yes, I'm afraid of retribution..." Someone whispered.
"Hahahaha..." Li Xingzhou laughed and asked Rui immediately: "Are you afraid of retribution?"
Qi Rui is as strong as a bear and tiger, tall and honest, shook his head: "I'm not afraid."
