Chapter 12

The morning days are like a child who has just woken up.

Those who get up early are probably the hardest-working people in this city.

The girls in Chuyao Pavilion were sleeping soundly, and there was no way. They were all day and night all year round, not to mention that there were no guests who visited the brothel early in the morning.

An old woodcutter carried two loads of wood to the back door of Chuyao Pavilion. He knocked on the door gently and waited quietly for a long time before the door was opened. The woman who opened the door yawned and said, "Everyone said, don't come too early, our territory is different from other places."

However, the woodcutter still asked the woodcutter to send the firewood in and gave him a few copper plates.

The woodcutter thanked him, and hesitated as he walked out.

Before the woman woke up, she wanted to go back and sleep, so she rushed the woodcutter and said, "Don't be too slow, I'm waiting to close the door."

The woodcutter did not dare to delay and stepped out of the door. Several patches were made of his clothes, and several of them were opened, revealing his flesh.

"Yun Qing!" A summoning called him back.

A man lay down on the back window on the second floor of Chuyao Pavilion, looking at the young woodcutter with a smile.

"Haru!" Yun Qing was as happy as someone who had been groping in the dark for a long time to see the Chaoyang: "You got up so early today."

"I haven't gotten up yet! I just want to find you if I have something to do." Su said with a kind smile: "Wait for me, I'll put on a dress."

After saying that, he disappeared from the window. After a while, the back door creaked open, and Su Haoyi wrapped it out with a green cloth.

"What is this?" Yun Qing asked.

"Sit down and sit down." Su kindly pulled him to sit on the stone steps. There was a narrow meadow road at the back door of Chuyao Pavilion, close to Chunchou River.

The two sat down, facing the river, and saw the boatmen who were getting up early in the morning making fires on the other side of the shore to cook.

"You eat this first," Su took out a plate of pastries from the bottom of the package like a trick, and handed it to Yunqing: "Pull your stomach."

Su Haoyi often takes food from Chuyaoguan to Yunqing for several years.

"I'll go wash my hands." Yun Qing got up and went to the river to wash his hands.

At the beginning, he was very reserved. Although he was so hungry that he felt so painful, he couldn't bear to eat the food Su Haoyi gave him.

But when the two of them gradually became familiar with each other, he stopped refusing.

Yunqing's family is very poor, and her mother died early, so she is a complete bitter gourd egg.

His father studied all his life, but he didn't even pass the exam. He couldn't do anything except study, so his family became poorer and poorer.

Yun Qing also has a stepmother, who is not ordinary mean.

Su Haoyi handed Yun Qing a piece of snack, and he also took a piece of it and ate it slowly.

This is what makes Yunqing most grateful. Every time Su Haoyi gives him food, he has to eat a little with him. Although it is only one and a half pieces, it is just that, making Yunqing feel that she is not giving alms to herself, but treating herself as a friend.

In fact, at the beginning, Su Haoyi would ask Yunqing to bring the snacks back. Later, he found that Yunqing would not be able to eat a bite of snacks in this way. Because his stepmother Qiu would take away all the snacks, then drive Yunqing out to work, and close the door to eat them himself. Even Yunqing's father could not even think of half a piece of it.

"How is your father doing recently?" Su asked kindly: "His illness hasn't been cured yet?"

"I grabbed the prescription for the grass head a few days ago," Yun Qing sighed, "It's still a abdominal pain and bloating."

"Your stepmother..." Su Haoyi choked by the snack, coughed twice before saying, "Don't you say she's making a fuss about leaving for a few days?"

"She is just scaring my father. Where else can she go besides here?" Yun Qing said helplessly: "Although this family is poor, there are still two dilapidated houses to live in, and I am also working on firewood to support the family. She doesn't have to do anything, and she scolds her for sleeping when she is tired, which is considered a blessing."

Qiu has a bad temper and ugly appearance, and the most important thing is that he cannot have children.

"How about I get you some money..." Su Haoyi said.

"No," Yun Qing refused flatly: "Everything has a truth. For the sake of reason, I shouldn't ask for money from outsiders. My father looked down on the doctor when he was sick because my family was poor and not harmed by others. If you help me once, you can't help me forever. What's more, once my stepmother knows, she will definitely come to you every day to cry. She is a leech and will never be satisfied."

Su Haoyi knew that Yun Qing was not unfilial, he was just calmer than ordinary people. So he was silent.

The boatwoman on the other side prepared the meal and began to call the children to get up and eat.

After a while, a few unkempt children walked out of the cabin, squatted barefoot by the pot, and started eating in big and small mouthfuls.

There are many poor people in Tiandu, far more than rich people.

For example, these boatmen don’t even have a shack to live in, so they can only live on the boat all year round.

After finishing the snack, Su Haoyi clapped his hands and put the green cloth on Yun Qing's hand: "You must like this."

"What is this?" Yun Qing asked, stretching out his hand to untie the package.

There were pen, ink, paper and inkstones inside, and two new books. The faint fragrance of ink stopped his breathing, which was what he had always dreamed of.

"This thing was left by a guest two days ago. I told my mother that it was useless to put it here, so I just gave it to someone." Su Haoyi said.

"This... this thing is a bit too expensive." Yun Qing was very frightened: "If the customer comes back to look for it..."

"He won't ask for it anymore," Su waved his hand kindly and smiled, "Tell me the truth! This is the thing from the young master of Tiansheng Jewelry. This kid lied to his father to study at Hengyang Academy. In fact, he took a large sum of money from his family to go to the south to squander. Do you think he really wants to study? His lard heart and two squint eyes can still be the seed of study? When he left, he came to us to drink flower wine. He thought this thing was in trouble, so he threw it to us."

"Then..." Yun Qing was still hesitant, but he really couldn't put it down.

"What?! Just take what I give you, don't think about anything." Su Haoyi made the final decision: "Okay, it's time for me to go back and make up for my sleep."

After saying that, he stood up, patted his butt and left, without a single word of extra words.

Yunqing solemnly repacked the package and held it carefully in his arms.

He wants to hide this thing and must not take it home.

Yun Qing also loves reading, which has become the thing his stepmother likes to scold when she gets angry.

"A bunch of black old trunks still want to fly to the branches to be phoenixes! If you were a scholar, wouldn't you become a young master?! According to me, it is the right way to cut more bundles of firewood every day! Your family's ancestral grave is buried in the pit of elm trees, and elm heads are produced in generations!" Qiu scolded this, and he must open the doors and windows so that the neighbors can hear it clearly.

But the more vicious she scolded, the stronger Yunqing's heart would be when she wanted to study.
