648 The Misunderstanding
Pour.
Pour.
The snowflakes are getting bigger and bigger, spreading like goose feathers. The peacock blue night curtain supported by dim street lights gently outlined along the chilly city skyline. The sparse snowflakes are like billions of stars falling down, and the cold and hard lines of tall buildings can't help but become gentle.
Just standing by the roadside for a short moment, the snowflakes wet their shoulders, which made Liv feel anxious.
Is he still in the hotel?
Is he still working?
Is he still in the city?
Can she see him before the snowfall stops?
Liv could not recognize the source of this emotion, nor could she explain the essence of this emotion. Even she could not tell what was going on. It was just... it was just a curiosity, impulse and yearning. Once that figure appeared in her mind, the impulse became more and more vivid.
Plop. Plop.
The thrilling and throbbing in the chest was trembling slightly, which made Liv feel a little distracted, "Claudia, otherwise you can go to the party by yourself, I'll go see another friend."
"Friend? Who?" Claudia's eyes widened, confused, "Aren't Clara and Carol both at the party?"
"..." Liv was a little exhausted, "It was just a friend who happened to be on a business trip in Chicago. Maybe he was going back tomorrow... Forget it, let's just say another day." Halfway through, Liv felt ridiculous and a little nervous-
They were just a one-time encounter.
She came to the door in a rash manner, what reason would she use? What attitude would the other party look at herself? Even if he was not surprised, what should they do? What was the purpose of her meeting in such a daze?
"What the hell is this for?"
Liv had no way to answer her questions or clarify her thoughts, so she rejected the proposal. She thought it was ridiculous, so why bother causing trouble?
Perhaps, it’s just because of curiosity. Pure curiosity is the curiosity that people will arise, the curiosity that stray cats, street artists, and strangers they meet by chance on the subway. There may be countless curiosity every day, and nothing is worth making a fuss about.
Forget it. Let it go.
"Well, let's go somewhere else." Liv told Claudia, and told herself that way.
Claudia keenly noticed Liv's abnormality and was about to continue asking questions, but Liv quickly stepped forward, "Taxi."
An idea came to my mind: Why not pass by the Hilton Hotel by the way, but then she quickly denied this idea, so why bother with it?
With a brief pause, Claudia had already told the taxi driver the destination, and then they slowly drove into the vast snow.
"Last time Clara said that a cardiac surgeon wanted to know you, but you said you were not interested and refused directly. Did he look for you again?"
"Liv, I know you are all focused on your work now, but occasionally when you are free, you still want someone to be with you, right?"
"Although finding a doctor is not the best choice, at least, you are all fellow travelers, and he can understand your job and you can find common topics with him; not to mention that you are so busy with work every day, and you don't have much time to meet men in other professions except doctors."
Claudia is a quiet personality, and long-winded words always linger in her ears.
But Liv's mind was not here at all. Looking at the large area of falling snowflakes outside the window, she couldn't help but feel a little confused. The colorful lights next to the street were flashing in the snowy night, and the city scene blurred into a sloppy and wild line, and it was just like this.
The outline of the hospital's building appeared faintly within view, and the familiar street scenes gradually became clearer, and the bar was getting closer.
"On the day when the first snow falls, the lovers you meet will feel the existence of happiness."
Inexplicably, this sentence appeared in Liv's mind again. She leaned forward slightly, as if she could feel the coldness coming from the car window glass. Her chaotic brain was a little clearer, but at this time she had no motivation to think, just stared out the window lazily and then stared blankly.
Slowly, the taxi parked at a traffic light intersection, and sparse pedestrians could be seen coming and going at both ends of the zebra crossing.
Then, he appeared like that.
Liv was stunned.
It's him.
Noah Lu, the man who always has a gentle smile.
A white knitted sweater paired with black jeans, a long dark green wool trench coat was worn on the outside. It was not fancy, but it stood out because of its tall and straight body. Its elegant and sparse face and a light smile. Under the flashing traffic light halo, a little fatigue between the eyebrows could be faintly captured, and it spreads like smoke and fog. The wide shoulders and slender legs seemed to be able to support the whole world.
His footsteps seemed to have just walked out of the building and were moving towards the traffic light, but because he was making a phone call, his footsteps did not speed up.
Liv couldn't help but look back from the direction he was walking. It was the hospital, the hospital where he worked—
Is he sick?
The heart contracted slightly.
But his eyes returned to him again, and the trunk blocked his figure, which made Liv stand up nervously and find his figure again, and then he felt at ease. He looked at his figure intently, then the sparse halo searched for the expression on the face, and secretly cared about what was going on.
He slowly approached the intersection of traffic lights, and the heavy snow fell down lightly. His right hand was still holding the phone, but his left hand couldn't help but lift it up, spread his five fingers, and then watched the snowflakes fall into his palm like a child, showing a bright smile.
Was he happy because of the late first snow?
Involuntarily, Liv also raised his right hand and rolled down the car window. Claudia cursed and heard behind him, "Liv, are you crazy?"
But Liv seemed to have not heard it, just stretched out his right hand, spread his fingers, and quietly waited for the snowflakes to fall on his palms, crystal clear and transparent, with a little coolness. When he encountered the warm palms, they quickly melted into a pool of water, and nothing was left.
However, the curve of the corners of the mouth still rose gently, feeling happy because of a snowflake, pure and simple happiness.
Liv looked up her eyes again, and she watched the man walking towards her face - no, she was walking towards the taxi, her heart beat rapidly, and the thumping sound made her unable to help but hold her breath. Then, the man raised his eyes, and the two people's eyes collided together.
He saw her.
Buzz...
The heartbeat suddenly stopped, and time seemed to stop.
