Chapter 14 Leaving the Army

As Churchill said, there are no eternal friends, no eternal enemies, only eternal interests.

In 1969, due to the international situation, my troops were sent to the deep Kunlun Mountains for construction. Due to the harsh environment, the project progress was slower than expected. In three years, dozens of officers and fighters died on the construction site, but the military facility we built had just completed two-thirds.

At this time, the world situation was reshuffled. In 1972, Nixon visited China and Sino-US relations were thawed. China's strategic deployment was re-adjusted, and the projects in Kunlun Mountains were stopped. We engineers who became monks halfway back into the battle sequence of the field army and belonged to the Lanzhou Military Region.

Day after day, year after year of training, exercises, exercises, learning, and comments. Life in the military camp is not only monotonous, but also hard. After a few years, the Party Central Committee was timely corrected the situation, and ******* was shattered. After a full ten years of catastrophe, social order finally returned to normal.

However, the army is a special environment that is out of touch with society. I did not feel much change in the military camp. I just didn’t need to read Chairman Mao’s quotations as before as I did. However, whenever a new recruit entered the camp, they still had to educate them on revolution.

That morning, as soon as I came back from the battalion meeting, correspondent Xiao Liu ran over panting: "Report to the company commander, there was a platoon of recruits coming to report today, but the instructor went to the military district to study, so please tell the recruits about revolution and tradition."

Talking about revolution and tradition is actually just telling the new recruits about the history of the company. I am really a layman for these, but I am still the leader of the company now. The instructor is not at home, so I have to bite the bullet.

I brought these more than 30 new recruits into the company's honor showroom, pointing to a banner embroidered with the lyrics of the heroes of the sect, telling them that this was the honor achieved by the predecessors of our 6th Company in the Huaihai Battle. This title has been preserved to this day. I said that the tragic battle was so rippled, and how did our 6th Company lose its ammunition and food, and how did we use the bayonet to repel the crazy attack of the reactionary group of the entire regiment, gloriously completing the blocking mission assigned by our superiors.

Then I pointed to a black iron pot in the glass cabinet and told the recruits: "Comrades, don't underestimate this bad pot. On the battlefield of the Huaihai Battle, the revolutionary predecessors of our 6th Company ate the pork stewed with the broken pot and went to the battlefield to kill the enemy and make meritorious contributions. Look, the crack in this pot was exploded by the reactionary artillery fire of the reactionary reactionaries. To this day, it is still silently telling the deeds of the heroes and the beastly behavior of the reactionaries."

That's all I can say. After all, I'm not a professional person responsible for ideological work, but I think I'm pretty good at speaking, and it's more than enough to get these new recruits.

I asked the recruits to disband and go to the cafeteria for dinner. I walked behind them with Xiao Liu. I asked Xiao Liu: "I just talked about revolution and tradition. How is the level of my speech?"

Xiao Liu said: "Oh, company commander, what you said is so good. I was so sad. When will we learn from the revolutionary martyrs, improve the food, and eat pork stewed noodle?"

I swallowed and flicked Xiao Liu's brain: "I didn't hear any revolutionary tradition at all. I just heard the pork stewed noodles. Go and get me to the cafeteria to get some food. Today, the cafeteria seems to eat buns. If I go late, I will snatch the eggs from the recruits. I order you to run forward."

Xiao Liu agreed, and rushed towards the cafeteria with big strides. I suddenly remembered the most important sentence and forgot to instruct him. He quickly shouted behind him: "Pick a few big stuff for me!"

I lay on the bed, eating buns, and looking at the letter I just sent from my house. Everything was fine at home and didn't mention anything important. After reading it twice, I put the letter aside and picked up the broken book passed down from my family. The experiences in the past few years made me very interested in the science of Feng Shui, and I took it out and read it when I had time.

Since this book mentions many nouns such as the Five Elements and Eight Trigrams, such as the East Jia Yi Wood, the South Bing Ding Fire, the Central Wu Yi Earth, the West Geng Xin Jin, the North Ren Gui Water, what are the Gan, Kan, Gen, Zhen, Kun, Dui, Li, Wei, etc., there are many things that are puzzled. Over the years, I have found a lot of related books to read. Although my education is limited, I can still understand it by dealing with it and seeing it clearly.

The sixteen characters of the secret technique of Yin and Yang Feng Shui, refer to: heaven, earth, man, ghost, god, Buddha, demon, animal, deterrence, suppression, escape, object, transformation, yin, yang, and emptiness.

I don’t know what era this book is from, nor do I know who came from, but the content is very profound. The sixty-four changes of Fuxi’s Eight Trigrams should actually be the sixteen hexagrams. They were passed down to the Shang Dynasty. Because these sixteen hexagrams leaked the secrets of heaven, half of them were wiped out by the gods, and even the remaining Eight Trigrams were not complete. However, those who can understand one or two points are already extremely powerful. If Zhuge Kongming knew one or two points, he could keep Liu Bei’s strategy and dominate the world. Liu Bowen could only solve three points, and assist Zhu Hongwu in building the foundation of the Ming Dynasty for four hundred years. But I don’t believe these. Can you really be so evil?

The only regret is that this book only has half of the Feng Shui and Five Elements tomb layout structure, and the other half of the Yin-Yang Bagua Tai Chi numbers have not been released since they were passed to my grandfather. When it was read, some of the contents were incoherent, and the text was obscure and difficult to understand, making it difficult to understand its profound meaning. I think if it was a complete version, it should be easier to understand.

Suddenly, a sound of three long and three short gatherings sounded, cutting through the quiet air in the military camp. My first thought was: "It must be something happened. I would never gather in the whole camp in broad daylight for no reason." I stuffed the remaining two buns into my mouth, bounced from the bed and rushed out of the door.

The columns were lined up neatly, and I saw that not only our battalion was gathering, but the entire regiment was assembled. Lower officers like me were not qualified to understand what kind of action they were, and they could only obey orders and obey commands. The order we received was to go to the train station to stand by and set off with the brothers.

There were more than 10,000 people, like mountains and seas. At the military railway station, there were tens of thousands of soldiers. From a distance, it looked like a green tide. It seemed that the entire division had been dispatched. At that time, it was amazing that one division was mobilized. The main division like ours was very large, with three infantry regiments under it, one artillery regiment, one tank regiment, and the division headquarters's logistics troops, which could have almost 20,000 people. What was the purpose of such a large-scale operation? It shouldn't be to rescue disasters. I haven't heard of any disaster nearby recently.

We were so confused that we were pulled to the Yunnan border by an iron can truck. Only then did everyone realize that this was a war. Many people cried at that time...

At the same time, the * who was visiting the United States spoke in a shocking way at the White House: "You are disobedient and it's time to spank." He also publicly admitted that the Chinese army gathered on a large scale on the Sino-Vietnam border.

In the early morning of February 17, 220,000 People's Liberation Army of 17 divisions launched a full attack and fought until Lang Son. On March 4, China announced its withdrawal.

My company was the Sharp Knife Company of the main division, and was the first to be hit. After ten days of fighting, more than half of the casualties were killed. During the march again, we were ambushed by Vietnamese agents. They used the women holding children as cover to throw the zha medicine bag into our armored personnel carrier. The eight soldiers under my command were all blown to death in the armored vehicles. At that time, my eyes turned red, three were killed, and two Vietnamese militias were captured alive.

They were an old Vietnamese man in his fifties and a Vietnamese woman in his twentysomething. It seemed that they were father and daughter. A subordinate told me that the woman disguised her zha medicine bag as a baby holding her in her arms, and threw it in when she passed by the armored car. It was definitely good, she did it.

What I fear most was to see my comrades dying in front of me. In anger, I forgot all the three major disciplines and eight points of attention and our army's policy of treating prisoners. I asked someone to take a medicine bag and tie it under the butt of a Vietnamese woman, let her take a dirt plane. I tied the old man up and threw it into the minefield from the cliff.
