Chapter 29 "Rat" (1)

The New Fire Ceremony is a major festival in Aztlan in the fifty-two years. The Aztlans are afraid of the destruction of the sun, so an unprecedented sacrificial activity will be held every fifty-two years to enhance the power of the sun. In Aztlan, which uses the living people as sacrificial materials, the New Fire Ceremony is an unprecedented human sacrifice.

Amy sat on the balcony of a two-story house. On the balcony were several round tables filled with dishes and decorative flowers; around the round table were many local samurai from Tenochtitlan, each holding a glass of tequila in his hands; and there were special artists who cheered the banquet with singing.

This is a party held by a local aristocrat. Amy participated in it with several iron tools as gifts. In Tenochtitlan, building a two-story tall building is a right that only the nobles can enjoy. Therefore, although there are only two floors, it is enough to overlook the streets of Tenochtitlan.

"You have great eyesight to find this place!" The host of the banquet gave Amy a thumbs up at drunkenly. The gift Amy gave was extremely helpful to him, who was a warrior, so he also showed great enthusiasm for Amy. "This house is closest to the Torah Square. In addition to the inside of the Great Temple, this is the best place to watch the ceremony. But then again, the Great Temple has been filled with representatives of various states, and we can't get in, haha!"

"The reputation of your caravan has spread throughout Tenochtitlan these days!" A warrior took a pot of tequila and poured it into Amy's wine glass. This was the best tequila, as thick as milk. "I've dried this glass, and I'll take me with me next time I go to the business! I'll take your iron tool to that stop, and surely no thief dares to think about you!"

"Come on, I'm such a big caravan, and you're the only one left? Let's watch the ceremony safely."

A samurai put down the wine glass in his hand, changed into a cup of hot chocolate, and leisurely sprinkled a little chili powder into it.

"You can see the complete sacrificial rituals in the Great Temple, but they just dig their hearts one by one. It's nothing good to scare the Gentiles. It's better to drink leisurely here!"

"That's right." The owner laughed, "I'll sing a song of flowers to cheer everyone up!"

Just as these warriors were drinking and having fun on the balcony, crying sounds came from the road below.

In order to hold this 52-year grand ceremony, Tenochtitlan prepared to spend all the slaves of the entire city-state without hesitation. Needless to say, the slaves who sold their bodies because of bankruptcy, who failed to redeem themselves before the new fire ceremony were also taken to the venue.

Each of them knew that they were waiting for their own destiny. The crying spread rapidly among them like an infectious disease, and many people even lost the strength to walk. The Aztland soldiers did not have the leisure to pull up with these slaves. They drove the slaves mercilessly. Once someone did not get up within ten seconds after falling, they would be killed in the street immediately.

The smell of blood was floating in the whole city. The slaves screamed at a loss, like mosquitoes driven by smoke. The warriors on the balcony raised their wine glasses and happily collided with each other again and again.

Amy drank the toasts of the warriors in a depressed mood. She couldn't stand the scene of the sacrifice, but Ella did not instruct her not to interfere in Aztland's internal affairs without authorization.

She would watch the ceremony here entirely because of the few reminders before Bjorn left:

"When the new fire ceremony begins, it should be located in a high terrain and a wide field of view to avoid being affected. All goods should also be transferred to a high place to ensure safety."

The measures Bjorn said seemed to be preventing floods. But Amy looked up several times today and saw clear sky.

To be on the safe side, Amy asked his large army to withdraw from the city and placed them together with the goods on a small slope outside the city. He climbed up to a high place as Bjorn said to investigate the situation in the entire city.

Intuition tells Amy that Bjorn would say this is not groundless. Although the noble she chose does not need to directly participate in the New Fire Ceremony, she is also a senior leader of the Aztlan army. Once something happens to Tenochtitlan, you will be able to receive the news as soon as possible.

A creepy bone whistle sounded from the inside of the Grand Temple, and the slaves occupying the streets were brutally driven to both sides of the road by the soldiers. From the empty streets, four hundred fully armed warriors danced war dances out of the temple. Each of them wore a wooden mask on their faces, painted with colorful patterns, especially the surroundings of their eyes were emphasized in bright colors, which looked very ferocious and terrifying. Each of them carried green gems that only Tratoani could wear, and green Kechar bird feathers were inserted on their heads. In front of this four hundred team, there was a woman with a hideous mask who was also wearing a unique dance while making wails and crying for help.

The entire team was in order, starting from the Grand Temple and heading towards the Plaza de Law.

Seeing Amy's face showing doubts, the owner explained enthusiastically:

"This is imitating the birth of the Sun God of War. The woman being chased plays the role of the Goddess of the Earth. The four hundred warriors behind her are her children. The Goddess of the Earth swore to be chastity after giving birth to four hundred children, but unexpectedly became pregnant because a ball made of feather suddenly landed on her belly. Her children were very angry and prepared to kill their mother."

Before he finished speaking, a horn sound suddenly came from the direction of the Plaza de Law. A burly warrior walked out of the Plaza de Law. Unlike those warriors decorated with green ornaments, he carried blue feathers on his body, holding a blue round shield in his left hand, and a red one in his right hand, which was curved like a snake spear, looking majestic.

The woman let out a cry of joy and rushed to the back of the blue warrior and hid, while the blue warrior took a step forward and fought fiercely with the green warriors.

"This blue warrior is our Sun War God in Aztland." The master continued to explain enthusiastically, "In the moment of his mother's crisis, he jumped out of the belly of the goddess of earth, and when he landed, he was fully armed and already an adult. He fought desperately with his brothers and sisters who tried to kill his mother, and finally those brothers and sisters fled in panic. These four hundred brothers and sisters were the stars in the sky, and the Sun War God chased them day after day in the sky."

Sure enough, after a symbolic fight, the group of green warriors turned around and fled in the direction of the temple, while the blue warriors waved their red snake spears and chased them all the way to the temple.

"When the blue warriors come to the periphery of the temple, they will sit tiredly on the ground. These four hundred warriors will turn back to counterattack, and the sacrifice of slaves in the temple will begin from this time. The slaves will be sent to the temple from the side door and climb to the top of the pyramid. There, the priests will dig out their hearts and place them closest to the sun. By offering their hearts to the Sun God of War, the blue warriors will gradually recover their strength and finally successfully drive away all the green warriors, enter the temple, and climb to the top of the pyramid...If you don't talk about this, do you want another cup?"

The master staggered and poured himself another glass of wine. After drinking it all the way, he and the warriors on the balcony became a little drunk.

"Well... why have you almost never moved the wine in your glass? Isn't it to your appetite?"

He wanted to pick up a cup of hot cocoa on the table and replace Amy with it, but his body shook and he knocked it over.

Amy ignored the things that were happening on the balcony. Her attention was all focused on a slave below - among the scared slaves around her, the slave with his head held high and chest was too conspicuous.
