Chapter 377: This is my painting

"You seem to be interested in oil paintings." Zarahag asked as Harris looked at the artworks from the Italian Renaissance.

"I studied oil painting before and graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Florence," said Harris.

"Then why would you be a public official?" Zarahag asked.

"Many reasons are, in general, life is still forced." Harris looked at these oil paintings with deep eyes. "After graduating from school, I thought I would become famous soon with what I learned, but later I realized that there are too many outstanding people in this world, and I don't have that talent at all. When other people's oil paintings can be sold at a high price of tens of thousands of euros, no one even wants my oil paintings."

"But even so, I still see your love for oil painting in your eyes," said Zarahag.

"Yes, although my painting skills are very bad, I still like to appreciate other people's paintings. My family has a lot of oil paintings in their collection." Harris said, "It's a pity that the economy is limited. Fortunately, most people in this world will always be without talent."

"If you have the chance, can you give me an oil painting you painted?" said Zarahag.

Harris turned his head unexpectedly, "Mr., are you sure? My oil paintings are not worth much, and after years of high-load training, my hands have long been less stable."

“Collection doesn’t necessarily mean collecting valuable things, or value is not just something that only money can define,” Zarahag said. “For me, your oil paintings are valuable, that’s enough.”

"Thank you, Mr. Harris said with some emotion.

Zarahag and Harris stopped under a painting, which was a portrait.

The woman in the portrait is so dignified and elegant.

The character has a wise forehead and a pair of deep eyes, and his confident expression reveals an irrespectable and mysterious smile, showing an inviolable dignity.

Her smile sometimes felt that she smiled comfortably and gently, sometimes she seemed serious, sometimes she seemed a little sad, and sometimes she even showed ridicule and teasing.

On her face, a dark shadow appeared and disappeared, covering her eyes and lips with a veil.

That is the most precious oil painting in the Louvre in France - "Mona Lisa"

"A person's smile is mainly reflected in the corners of his eyes and mouth, but Leonardo da Vinci draws these parts in a faint light, without clear boundaries, so there is this unpredictable "mysterious smile" Harris said as he looked at the oil painting.

"My understanding of oil painting is limited to distinguishing between good and bad." Zarahag said with a smile.

"It is something that many people can't tell whether it is good or bad," said Harris. "In this era, there are too many people who seek fame and no vision, and people who have no vision can become so-called famous painting appraisers, and slap some garbage to sky-high prices. What's ridiculous is that no one raised any objections."

"Man is a creature of herd," said Zarahag. "When most people maintain the same view, those who have different views will be regarded as an alien, and this alien will eventually begin to doubt itself and accept the views of most people."

"I heard that this painting is an unfinished painting, right?" Zarahag asked.

"Yes, there are only a few paintings that Da Vinci has completed in his life, and the unfinished paintings have been in a certain proportion, which has made many connoisseurs think that this "unfinished" is like Venus with a broken arm, incomplete beauty." Harris couldn't help but laugh.

"What Da Vinci has always hoped to achieve is to use the characters' actions to reflect the characters' emotions. If he wants to accurately portray the characters' movements, he needs to have an in-depth understanding of the anatomical structure of the human body to impress the audience.

Just to take the only unfinished painting by Leonardo da Vinci in the Vatican before this, "Saint Jerome".

After Leonardo da Vinci completed his work to a certain level in 1480, he was not very satisfied, so he never delivered it, but brought it with him.

Until 30 years later, in 1510, when Da Vinci had a breakthrough in human anatomy, especially the structure of the human neck muscles, he began to adjust the painting "Saint Jerome".

There are even many pages in Da Vinci's notes that study the anatomy of the neck muscles.

This is the way of creation of Leonardo da Vinci. When a work is completed by others, Leonardo da Vinci doesn't think so. He will not hand over it immediately and start another work. Instead, he puts the unsatisfactory work aside and then does new things.

That's why so far, so few of his works have survived. Statistically, he wrote less than 20 oil paintings, and two or three of them were not completed, including the one "Saint Jerome in the Wilderness". He pursued perfection too much."

Harris said, "He is the best painter in the world, but he doesn't look down on his artistic talent and is obsessed with science."

As he said that, he turned his head and looked at Zarahag and asked, "Speaking of it, where is the painting "St. Jerome" now?"

Zarahag turned his head and looked to the side of the gallery.

Harris also looked at him and saw a very Renaissance-dressed girl in a very Renaissance dressed in a painting brush in one hand and a paint plate in the other hand, painting something on an oil painting hanging on the exhibition wall.

Harris can recognize that the painting is the unfinished painting by Leonardo da Vinci, "Saint Jerome in the Wild"

Harris's expression changed instantly.

"stop!"

"What are you doing!" He stepped up and grabbed the girl's collar and shouted: "Do you know what this painting is?!"

"Saint Jerome in the Wild," the girl said for granted.

"It's Leonardo da Vinci's "Saint Jerome"!" Harris was a little angry.

"I know." said the girl.

"You know it's still doodling on it!" Harris endured his anger, "Do you know how much this thing is worth?"

"Yes...but this painting is an unfinished product." The girl was a little confused, "Can this thing be sold for money?"

Harris' breath stagnated, and the girl's natural tone was stunned, "Can you continue writing before you finish it?? Do you think your painting skills are comparable to Da Vinci, one of the three Renaissance masters. Who do you think you are??"

Harris said with some gritted teeth that although he had stopped painting, this did not affect his love for artistic oil painting. Seeing someone ruining a masterpiece passed down from generation to generation, the anger in his heart was as strong as adding fuel to the fire.

While speaking, he turned his head and looked at the oil painting.

The protagonist in the picture is full of emotional tension. Leonardo da Vinci likes to express the characters' psychological state and emotions very much.

St. Jerome stretched out his right arm, holding a stone in his hand, trying to hit his chest to indicate atonement. His eyes were full of strength, and he looked at the upper right, as if he was seeking God's forgiveness.

This work is full of unique power. The characters' movements and postures are full of dynamics, fully expressing St. Jerome's religious passion.

The depiction like a mirror, the muscle patterns like a photo, but are not as realistic as the photo. It enlarges beautiful things and lightens the ugly parts, making the painting look particularly shocking.

Although the oil paint has not yet been dried in some places, it has no sense of incongruity with the whole painting, and instead achieves perfect unity.

Harris has seen photos of this painting. These oil paints directly upgraded the painting and became more perfect.

Harris turned his head to look at the girl in disgrace.

"Who are you?"
