Chapter 5 Unusual Opening Ceremony
All the rest of the journey went smoothly. The dementor, who had been repaired by the patron saint of Silver, was still normal and he didn't cause trouble. Finally, the train finally stopped at Hogwarts Station, and it was very busy when he got off: the owl cried, the cat meowed, and Neville's pet toad croaking under his hat. The small platform was frozen, and the cold rain was falling. "First graders are here!" a familiar voice called - it was Hagrid, who was waving to the panicked new students to take them on a traditional journey across the lake. The old students would take a carriage to Hogwarts Castle.
"Jack, those dementors will not appear again, right?" Parvati asked fearfully as soon as he got on the carriage.
"The Ministry of Magic sent a team of dementors, which caused such a big trouble on the train. But if the Ministry of Magic withdraws, the Ministry of Magic will also be ridiculed by others when it abandons halfway, so Fudge will definitely choose to go to the black road and insist on letting the dementors station at Hogwarts." Silver said.
"So aren't we very dangerous?" Hermione said, holding Mount Crook tightly.
"The dementors are at least under control now. As long as they don't get too close to them, there will be no problem. I think Professor Dumbledore will not allow them to enter the castle, and they will be guarding at the door at most. Even if the dementors really lose control." Silver waved his wand. "There are ways to deal with them."
The carriage rolled in, and in front was a pair of magnificent cast iron doors, lined with stone pillars, and pre-headed wild boars, and they saw two tall, hijab-wearing dementors standing on both sides of the gate, and seemed to be hitting them again; Hermione shrank into her uneven seats, closed her eyes until they walked into the gate. The carriage increased its speed in the long sloped lane and drove to the front of the castle; Silver leaned out the window and watched as many corner towers and towers gradually approached them. Finally, the carriage stopped swaying-
"Potter, Silver, Granger, I'm going to take you two." Professor McGonagall, the dean of the Gryffindor, was greeting them by the crowd. She was a stern-looking witch with her hair in a tight bun; a pair of square glasses on her sharp eyes. "Don't be so frowning? I'm just going to talk to you in the office." She told them. "Weasley, go there."
Silver and the others accompanied her through the vestibule, up the marble stairs, and then along the corridor. They walked into her office, which was a small room with a welcoming fire in the fireplace. Professor McGonagall immediately signaled Harry and Hermione to sit down. She sat behind the table herself and suddenly said, "Professor Lupin sent an owl first and said you were sick on the train, Potter."
"I'm fine," he said, "I don't need any-"
"Oh, it's you?" said Mrs. Pomfrey, completely ignoring his words, bent down to see him closer. "I think you did something dangerous?"
"It's a dementor, Pomfrey," said Professor McGonagall.
They exchanged an insignificant look, and Mrs. Pomfrey made a disagreement giggle.
"Let the dementors be stationed around the school," she mumbled, pushing Harry's hair away and touching his forehead. "He won't be the first person to break down. Yes, he's cold and wet all over. Those are the horrible things, the effects they have on those who can't stand the touch?"
"I can't stand the touch!" Harry said angrily. Mrs. Pomfrey continued to carefully check Harry's situation without any comment.
"Silver, Professor Lupin also mentioned you in his letter. He said that your patron saint is very powerful and drove all the dementors in the Hogwarts Express to the rear of the train." Professor McGonagall said. "The patron saint is a very profound spell, and many adult wizards may not be able to master it. Not only did you fully master this spell, but you also exert unimaginable power - Forge wrote a letter to Professor Dumbledore and complained that you almost purified the two dementors."
"Yes, Professor McGonagall. I hate this dirty and unclean monster, so I took a little heavier attack. But I shouldn't get into any trouble."
"This won't be, because the Dementors caused trouble on the Hogwarts Express this time. The Ministry of Magic was under great pressure. Just half an hour ago, Forge had just announced that he would send two teams of Aurors to take care of the Dementors. He repeatedly stated that if the Dementors attacked the unreasonable student, he would resign immediately." Professor McGonagall showed a smile on his serious face. "Anyway, Silver, you did a very good job this time. I will add 50 points to Ravenclaw."
"Thank you, Professor McGonagall," said Silver.
"Very good. Please wait outside, Miss Granger and I want to say something about her schedule, and then we can go to dinner together."
Silver only waited for a few minutes before Hermione appeared, looking very happy. Behind her was Professor McGonagall, the three of them walked down the stairs and into the auditorium.
The auditorium was a sea of steep black hats; each long table was filled with students, and thousands of candles shone their faces, which were suspended in the air above the table. Professor Frevi was a short white-haired witch who walked out of the auditorium with an ancient hat and a three-legged stool.
"Oh," said Hermione softly, "we missed the branch ceremony."
"Okay, Hermione, then let's go back to the tables of their respective colleges." Silver said goodbye to Hermione.
New students at Hogwarts have to wear a sect hat to decide which college they should study, which would yell out the best college they are suitable for (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin). Professor McGonagall slowly walked towards her empty seat in the teacher's seat. As Silver walked back to her dining table, many people pointed at Silver and then whispered something.
"What's wrong with asking you to go just now?" Padma asked Silver in a low voice - she left a place for Silver.
Silver began to explain to him in a low voice, but then the principal stood up and spoke, and he stopped.
Although he is old, he always gives people the impression of being energetic. His hair and beard are several feet long, he wears semi-circular glasses and his nose is hooked strongly. "Welcome!" Professor Dumbledore said, the glory of the candles shines his beard, "Welcome to Hogwarts in the new school year! I have a few words to say to you all, one of which is very serious, and I think it is better to make it clear before you are confused by this delicious meal."
Dumbledore cleared his throat and continued. "You must know after they searched the Hogwarts Express. At present, our school is going to receive several dementors from Azkaban, who are here to perform official duties in the Ministry of Magic."
"They are stationed at all entrances to the school grounds," Dumbledore continued, "I must make it clear during their stay that no one is allowed to leave the school without permission. Dementors should not be deceived by tricks or disguise? Even invisible clothes," he added without expression. Silver noticed that he glanced at Harry.
"Dementors are born not to understand what a request or excuse is. Therefore, I warn each of you: don't give them any excuses to hurt you. I expect the seniors, as well as our newly appointed presidents of the Boys and the Girls' Student Union, to ensure that no student will clash with the Dementors."
Dumbledore paused and continued, "I know, some of you must be a little dissatisfied. Because this time, a third-grade student on the Hogwarts Express took action and drove away the dementors on the entire train. But I want to remind you that this is not something that ordinary people can do. Most adult wizards may not have this ability. So, for your safety, I repeatedly emphasize that you must not have any conflicts with the dementors."
Suddenly, everyone's eyes turned to Silver. But how could Silver, who had been a human for two lives, care about this little situation? He sat calmly on the chair. This made everyone improve his evaluation of him.
“It’s more gratifying,” he continued, “this year, I’m happy to welcome two new teachers to our team.
"The first one is Professor Lupin, who agreed to fill the gap in the course of Dark Magic Defense."
There were some scattered and uninvited applause...
Potion class teacher Snape stared at Professor Lupin along the teacher's long desk. Everyone knows that it was because Professor Snape always wanted to be a teacher in the Black Magic Defense Arts class.
"As for the second teacher we appointed," after the less enthusiastic applause for Professor Lupin disappeared. Dumbledore continued, "Well, I regret to tell you that our teacher in the Conservation of Magical Biology, Professor Keitel Bourne retired late last year to have more time with his remaining little naughty. However, I am happy to say that it is not someone else, but Rube Hager to fill his vacancy, who has agreed to serve as a teacher in addition to the hunting ground guard."
Gryffindor's applause was particularly warm. Slytherin was indifferent, and only a few people clapped symbolically.
"Well, I think the important things are over," Dumbledore said, "get to eat."
