Chapter 23 The Little Hill King (Part 2)

"All dead?" Ron said, "What does this mean?"

Hagrid said sadly, "Everything is dead, the entire mountain is full of giant corpses."

"This is impossible!" Ron exclaimed, "I mean, giants are not weak creatures that can be bullied. They are extremely powerful and have thick skins and flesh. Their skin is like dragon skin, with a certain magic resistance. It is possible to kill one or two giants, but it is unimaginable to kill so many giants at once."

"So who did this? Voldemort? Or the Ministry of Magic?" said Harry.

Haeger shook his head, "I don't know, I found their bodies about half a month ago. The bodies have begun to decay and there is no trace."

"Professor Dumbledore sent me a letter not to stay in Hogwarts," Haeger said. "But I have something to do, and I think, can I ask you guys?"

Hagrid took off the dragon meat applied to his face with a little embarrassed, "Of course, if you don't want to, I won't force you, either. This may delay your time."

"No, we do," said Harry. "Anyway, Hogwarts is not interesting now, Umbridge is there..."

"Uh, I mean, I think so too," Ron said.

"Thank you, Harry, and you, Ron." Hagrid gave Harry and Ron a warm hug, "Then it's not too late, I'll take you there now."

————————————————————————————————————————

Harry and Ron followed Hagrid to the forbidden forest. The more luxuriant weeds on the paths in the forest, the denser the trees were. It was still daytime, but the light was as dark as at dusk.

Hagrid left the trail in the forest and began to turn left and right among the trees, heading towards the dark center of the Forbidden Forest.

"Hagge!" Harry said as he struggled to pass through the dense thorns that were tangled together, "Where are we going? It's too dangerous in the depths of the Forbidden Forest."

"Don't worry. Go ahead." Hagrid turned his head and said, "Come on, Harry, we can't disperse now."

It was very difficult to get along with Shanghai Ge. When Hagrid passed through the branches and bushes, it was as easy as crossing spider webs, but they surrounded Harry and Ron's robes and kept them tightly.

Under the silence, any sound seemed to bring danger. The sound of a thin branch breaking echoed, and there was a slight rustling when something moved. All of this made Harry feel ominous.

The light is getting dimmer.

"Hagge, it's okay for us to light up the wand?" Ron said softly.

"Okay," Hagrid turned and whispered, "actually-"

He suddenly stopped and turned around, "Maybe we'd better stop for a while so I can get you back on it,"

"That's great, I can't stand it." Ron said panting.

"Fluorescent flash!" The tip of Harry and Ron's wands shone brightly.

"Hagge, why didn't Dumbledore let you stay in Hogwarts?" Harry asked.

Haeger took a deep breath. "Ah, Dumbledore said, the Ministry of Magic and Umbridge are now seizing every opportunity to stumbling to Dumbledore and Dumbledore's supporters, you should know. I'm a mixed-race giant."

Hagrid said in a low voice, "My mother is a giant, my father is a wizard, a mixed-race child like me. He has always been discriminated against in the wizarding world because giants are cruel and easy to kill. Many people are afraid of mixed-race child like me who has giant bloodlines like me, and think we will eat people like giants."

"No, Hagrid, I don't think so." Harry said hurriedly.

"Oh, let's not talk about him anymore. That woman Umbridge was not a good thing when she was in school." Hager said disgustedly. "She is a villain like other Slytherins. She will definitely catch my identity and make a big fuss. Dumbledore told me that if I didn't leave Hogwarts, I might be brought into Azkaban by the Ministry of Magic."

"No." Harry said, "how could they do that."

"Harry, the Ministry of Magic is not a place to reason with you. When mysterious people are rampant, although many innocent wizards and muggles die at the hands of mysterious people and Death Eaters, more people are charged with supporters of Death Eaters and are directly locked up in Azkaban without any trial, just like your godfather Sirius," Hager said.

"They can't-"

"Harry, you can't help me in this matter, I have to leave Hogwarts." Hagrid waved his huge palm to stop Harry.

"This is not the end of the world. Once I leave here, I can help Dumbledore, and I can do something for the Order of the Phoenix. Professor Graplan will teach you the class and you will pass the exam smoothly."

"Don't worry about me," Hager said. "I need you two to help me in other ways now."

"Of course we will help you," Harry said immediately. "What do you want us to do?"

"Come on, I think I'll have almost rested. Just walk through here and walk a short distance forward. Now be careful, there are some nettles here."

They walked silently for fifteen minutes. Harry had just opened his mouth and wanted to ask how far he would go. Hagrid stretched out his right arm to signal them to stop. "Slow down," he whispered, "it's still very quiet, now."

They tiptoed forward, and Harry saw them facing a huge, smooth mound, which he thought was almost as tall as Hagrid, and suddenly felt a little scared, thinking that it must be the nest of some kind of beast. The trees around the mound were uprooted, so it was located on a small open space, surrounded by piles of trunks and branches like fences or barricades, blocking Harry, Ron and Hagrid.

"I'm asleep." Hagrid said in a mouth shape without saying a word.

Sure enough, Harry could hear the rhythmic rumbling sound from afar, sounding like a pair of huge lungs breathing. He glanced at Ron next to him, who was slightly opening his mouth and staring at the mound.

"What is that? Hagrid" Harry asked.

"Hagge, you just told us-" Ron said, his wand shaking in his hand, "You told us that the giants are dead!"

"Ron, he may be the only survivor, I have to bring him back."

"Hag! He is a real giant, he is not you! He is enough to destroy this forbidden forest." Ron said nervously, "Hag, do you know what you are doing?"

"Hagge, I think you shouldn't bring him back." Harry carefully pondered his words, "Does Dumbledore know you did this?"

"Professor Dumbledore doesn't know yet, but I have to do it, Harry, he-he's my brother."

"What?!"

"I found him in a half-collapsed cave. He was seriously injured and dying. At first glance, I could feel that he was related to me. He should be the child born to other giants after my mother left my father." Hager said with tears in his eyes, "I know you may be a bit prejudiced against giants, but Glopp is a good child."

"Glopp?" said Harry.

"Yeah, it sounds like that when he speaks his name." Haegel said uneasy, "He can't speak a few words of English, and I'm trying to teach him. I guess my mom must not like him very much, just like she doesn't like me. The giants like tall and healthy kids, and Glopp is only sixteen feet tall - he doesn't look taller."

"Hagge, sixteen feet is short among giants, but for us, he is big enough. If this guy goes crazy, we can't control him."

"No, Glopp is a good kid. He learns very quickly, and the giants learn very slowly. Some giants need to learn decades to barely master English, but Glopp is different - I suspect he may have awakened the bloodline of the King of the Hills."

"King of the Hill?"

"Yes, the King of the Hill." Hager said, "The King of the Hill is a mutated subspecies among giants. For other giants, they are generally shorter and are called shorter giants."

"But what does this have to do with us?" Harry asked.

"The King of the Hills are the strongest among the giants. They are very smart. There is even a legend that the King of the Hills masters magic." Hager said, "Generally speaking, it is impossible for giants to master magic, but the King of the Hills is an exception."

"Hagge, do you want us to teach him magic?" Ron said tremblingly.

"No, no," said Hager. "I just hope you can see him more during my absence and try to teach him a few words of English. He spent too long among those ignorant giants and missed the best time to study."

Harry and Ron exchanged helpless eyes.

"No need to provide food or anything!" Hagrid said anxiously, "He can get food by himself, no problem. He just needs someone to accompany him. If I know someone continues to teach him, he will get better, teach him, you know."

Hagrid looked at Harry almost begging, "Please help me, Glopp is my brother, Harry."

Harry remembered his never-to-face parents and felt soft, "Okay, Hagrid, I'll help you."

"That's great." Hager patted Harry on the shoulder happily, "I'll wake him up and let him know you."

"No, wait." Ron stopped, "Hag, I promise to help you too, but please don't wake him up."
