Chapter 18: Chain Reaction (2)

Chapter 18: Chain Reaction (II)

James did not eat all the delicious food in the northwest. After six days of visiting the northwest accompanied by Althorp, he returned to Chongqing with the double regret of not achieving his goal and not having enough belly, as well as the excitement brought by the achievements of the construction of the northwest, and then returned to the United States to report. After Zhao Zhenzhong saw off James, he devoted himself to busy work again.

In June, seeing that the People's Army sent troops to Su and Meng's work was ready, the Russians and the Japanese jointly gave the People's Party a reason to start a fight.

On June 17, the Soviet Union and Japan signed the Manchuria-Mongolia Demarcation Agreement. This is the second time that the two great powers openly trampled on China's sovereignty and dignity and territorial integrity! After the news came out, most of the Chinese people were in an uproar and most of them turned their attention to the northwest where they had declared war on Japan and the Soviet Union.

More than two months ago, the People's Party has not taken any actual action since the declaration of war against the Soviet Union. To this day, almost all walks of life at home and abroad believe that the People's Party's previous declaration of war against the Soviet Union was just a bluff and verbally intimidation. But now the Russians and Japanese have caused new troubles, which obviously does not take the People's Party's previous declaration of war seriously. Many people want to see what the People's Party will say this time.

The People's Party's reaction did not disappoint most Chinese people, but it was beyond expectations from all walks of life. However, the People's Party did not issue any unhealthy statements such as "strong protests" and "angry condemnation", but chose to start the fight directly!

Although there are times difference and high latitude effects, June is already summer. At 5 a.m. on the 18th, the Central Asia region west of Xinjiang, east of Hang Aishan, Outer Mongolia, and the Tanuwulianghai region were all bright.

At 5 o'clock, nearly 1,200 fighter jets and bombers from the eight aviation divisions of the People's Army Air Force roared at various important targets in eastern Kazakhstan, central and eastern Outer Mongolia, Tanu Ulianghai and other places under the control of the Soviet Union!

The air strike has not yet ended. The ground troops of 37 divisions and seven brigades, guided by more than 3,200 tanks and armored vehicles, were divided into seven routes and attacked their respective targets along the predetermined route! The two airborne divisions and a special combat brigade, were transported by nearly 600 C-1 transport aircraft, rushed to the Tanuwulianghai and eastern Kazakhstan and other key areas, and prepared to carry out airborne operations!

At this point, the People's Army had a total of 47 divisions and eight brigades on the ground in the air and ground, plus some directly affiliated troops of Dihua and the two war zones in the pass, a total of more than 820,000 troops against the Soviet and Mongolian directions had officially begun!

In 1941, the Soviet Union had radars, but due to the excessive wavelength and low quality of electrical components, the performance of these radars was really not very good.

There is a rule for wave reflection: the larger the target area and the shorter the wavelength, the larger the ratio of the target area to the wavelength, and the stronger the reflection. Therefore, the shorter the wavelength of the radio waves used by radar, the stronger the reflection generated on targets such as aircraft or missiles, and the effectiveness of the radar can be better utilized.

The two types of radars equipped by the Soviet Union in the summer of 1941 have working wavelengths of 4.7 meters and 4 meters respectively. The former has a detection distance of only 20 kilometers; the latter has a detection distance of about 10-30 kilometers at an altitude of 500 meters, and a detection distance of about 25-100 kilometers at an altitude of 8 kilometers.

The maximum speed of the People's Army F-1 fighter jet is more than 690 kilometers per hour, and the maximum speed of the B-1 bomber is more than 540 kilometers per hour. At the speed of these two fighter jets, the Soviet radar can at best provide five or six minutes of early warning time! In the 1940s, when air defense firepower was not automated and it still relied on manpower to operate, the Soviet army had no time to respond in a targeted manner even if it received five or six minutes of early warning time!

What's even worse is that even these two types of radars with poor performance were not many in the Soviet Union! By June 1941, there were only 44 radars within the huge control range of the entire Soviet Union, and there were only 144 radars in the rus-2 series!

A total of 188 radars were deployed in the Western Front, Far East, Central Asia, Outer Mongolia and other places. Among them, due to the huge scale of the Luftwaffe, about 100 radars were deployed on the Western Front, and the remaining more than 80 were basically deployed in the Far East, Outer Mongolia and Central Asia on average.

The deployments in the Far East are undoubtedly aimed at Japan, the deployments in the Central Asia Military Region are aimed at the Xinjiang People's Army, while the deployments in Outer Mongolia also take into account both the Japanese army in the east and the People's Army in the west.

With more than 80 poorly performed radars, the Soviet army's air defense network is not much better than the sieve in the vast airspace from Vladivostok in the Far East to Almaata in the Central Asia Military Region.

Faced with the overwhelming blows of the People's Army Air Force and was caught off guard, important facilities such as the Central Asia Military Region, Outer Mongolia and surrounding areas were all devastatingly hit!

The Soviet army deployed more than 1,600 aircraft of various types deployed at airports such as Fulongzhi, Almaata, Semiparadinsk, Irkutsk, Sikulun, Yamatai, etc. were blown to pieces on the ground almost before they could take off! The Soviet front-line positions and military camps were everywhere and messy, and several rear material reserve centers were even more in full swing! The Siberian Railway, which spanned the east and west of the Soviet Union, was also interrupted by the heavy blows of the People's Army's air force!

Although I had heard that the People's Party's air force was powerful, the Su and Mongolian troops never expected that the damage caused by the large-scale air force operations of the People's Army was so serious! At the beginning of the war, all airports suffered devastating blows, all fighter planes were lost, front-line positions and other ground facilities were also seriously damaged, and military supplies were scarce. How can we fight the subsequent battle?

Just when the Soviet and Mongolian generals in the Central Asia Military Region, Siberian Military Region and Outer Mongolia were in trouble with the losses caused by the People's Army's air strikes, the People's Army's ground forces advanced again, bringing another terrifying battle situation to the Su and Mongolian Army.

On the wide front of more than 800 kilometers between the Ertzis River and the Ili River, more than 300,000 troops of the People's Army Dihua War Zone were divided into three routes. With the cooperation of air forces, they carried out large-scale deep advances to Shemipaladinsk, Ayaguz, Almaata and Fulongzhi!

The Neijing Zone adopted directional blasting to open up the passage to the Tangnu Wulianghai in the north, cross Hang Aishan in the east and advance into central and eastern Outer Mongolia, and divided into three routes to attack and advance towards the predetermined target. The Sixth Army of the Yulin Theater, which was in cooperation, also crossed the boundary between Suiyuan and Outer Mongolia and advanced north along the Zhangku Highway!

Air strikes and ground advances, these two attack methods have caused heavy losses to the Su and Mongolian Army, which has caused a group of generals to be overwhelmed. But to make matters worse, the People's Army airborne troops also participated!

In addition to the two airborne divisions used in airborne operations, the People's Army also has a special combat brigade, with a total of more than 50,000 troops. With this size of troops and no heavy firepower such as tanks, large-caliber heavy artillery, if it is placed on the battlefield to fight head-on, the effect will not be too great. But if 50,000 elite forces equipped with 105 artillery, 107 rocket launchers, light and heavy machine guns, assault rifles and other weapons are sent to a key position, the effect will be very great!

The special combat brigade and an airborne division were sent to the east and west Sayan Mountains in the north of the Tanuwulianghai to cut off the Soviet army's passage from the north to the Tanuwulianghai, and won time for the timely entry of the Fourth Army of the Civil War Zone. Moreover, north of the Sayan Mountains is the Siberian Railway and the important town of Irkutsk. More than 30,000 elite troops of the People's Army were airborne at such a key point, and it could also threaten Irkutsk and restrain the forces of the Siberian Military Region.

As for another airborne division that was in charge of the Dihua War Zone, after the Air Force bombing, it landed directly at Jambur on the Tuxi Railway in Karatao Mountain to cut off the passage of Tashkent, Turkstan and other places to reinforce Fulongzhi and Almaata.

Under the sudden and fierce attack of more than 800,000 troops of the People's Army, the hundreds of thousands of troops deployed by the Soviet Union in the Central Asia Military Region, Outer Mongolia, and Siberian Military Region were almost hit to varying degrees. However, under the fierce armored assault of the People's Army and the fierce firepower from the air and the ground, the Soviet army's original deployment was not too late to resist!

In addition to being air strikes by the People's Army, the Siberian Military Region only had a small number of troops in the Tanuwulianghai area contacted the People's Army's airborne troops and ground troops due to distance reasons. The losses were the slightest among the several sides. However, Irkutsk was bombed and the Siberian Railway was interrupted, but it was quite serious.

On the Outer Mongolia side, because the Soviet army severely damaged the Japanese army in the Battle of Nomenhan and signed a treaty with Japan, the garrison was only one 57th Special Army, and the losses were not too serious. However, the Outer Mongolia army, as the landlord, suffered heavy losses. Not only were the barracks of the two cavalry divisions completely destroyed by air strikes, but even Kulun, who acted as the "capital" of Outer Mongolia, suffered serious losses in the People's Army air strikes, and even Qiaobashan was slightly injured in avoiding the air strikes.

Compared with the losses of the Siberian Military Region and Outer Mongolia, the losses of the Central Asia Military Region are heavy! Not only were the airports, front-line troops, barracks, material centers, etc. suffered serious losses in the air strikes, but the passage through the Turkish-Sichuan Railway to the north and the mainland of Kazakhstan in the southwest was completely cut off!

Due to the People's Army's air force's attack on the deep areas of the Central Asian Military Region and the participation of airborne troops in the war, Major General Trofimenko, the commander of the Central Asian Military Region, can no longer tell where is ahead and behind, and was completely confused! In addition to the series of key points of the loss, he was stunned, the current situation in the Central Asian Military Region made him even more frightened.

More than 100,000 Soviet troops deployed in the western part of Xinjiang have been divided into several incoherent places by the People's Army's armored forces. Moreover, with the assault of the People's Army's armored forces and the timely follow-up of the follow-up troops, these more than 100,000 troops are gradually becoming surrounded and annihilated!

Trofimenko has understood that the Soviet army has made serious mistakes in estimating the strength of the People's Army from top to bottom! The People's Army not only has a number of fighter jets far exceeding the Soviet army's estimated number, but also has tanks and armored units that the Soviet army had never expected, and its scale reached more than 3,000! And the well-equipped airborne troops were even more unexpected!

With such a strong army as the People's Army, such integrated air-ground, and coordinated combat methods of infantry and artillery have far exceeded any other enemy that has been encountered since the establishment of the Soviet regime! Even the German army that the Soviet Union guarded on the Western Front may not have such a sharp attack method as the People's Army!

This is true! In addition to the scale of less than the Germans' current troop investment, the performance bonus brought by advanced technology and equipment, and the advanced combat methods trained by Zhao Zhenzhong, the People's Army's current assault operations are more powerful than Hitler's blitzkrieg!

Three days! Just three days!

Not only were the key areas of the Turkish-Swiss Railway such as Semiparadinsk, Brubaitar, and Jambur destroyed by the People's Army's air strikes, but the external contact channels for strategic locations such as Almaata and Fulongzhi in the eastern part of Kazakhstan Province of the Soviet Union were cut off, and the Central Asia Military Region was even more defeated!

On the northern road, the Second Army of the People's Army has captured Kokbekti and is advancing rapidly northwest along the Turkish-Western Railway. Shemipaladinsk is already in sight!

In the middle, the Ninth Army has taken Ayaguz and is advancing west along Chenggistao Mountain to join forces with the North Road to attack Semipaladinsk and surrounding areas.

On the southern route, the Seventh Army of the People's Army and other strengthening troops have captured Panfirov, Sareozek, Yili and other places, and are competing with the Soviet army in Almaata with a force, and to advance rapidly towards Fulongzhi, Jambur and Karatao Mountain. At the same time, with the cooperation of the Air Force, Jambur's 202nd Airborne Division also withstood the fierce attacks from Soviet reinforcements from Tashkent, Chimkent and other places, and firmly sealed the gates of Almaata, Fulongzhi and other places to the southwest!

Trofimenko, commander of the Central Asia Military Region, sent emergency telegrams to Moscow for help, and claimed that "the enemy used a powerful bomb, and the military region command has lost contact with more than 100,000 other troops, and the remaining troops are difficult to organize and effectively resist..."

In the Tanuwulianghai, the Fourth Army of the People's Army has advanced into the Tanuwulianghai, and has taken over the defense areas of Sayanling and other places from the Special Forces Brigade and the 201st Airborne Division, and has made offensive defense deployments against the Siberian Military Region, especially Irkutsk in the north of the Sayanling. Because the Soviet army did not deploy too many troops in the Tanuwulianghai area, the Fourth Army basically did not encounter any war, which is the easiest way to complete the task in this battle.

In the direction of central and eastern Outer Mongolia, the People's Army's three attack troops have advanced more than 600 kilometers eastward within three days and nights, not far from the "capital" of Outer Mongolia Kulun!

The People's Army not only has an advantage in air power, but this advantage is also so obvious! It also quietly formed a world-class armored force, sweeping across thousands of troops in just three days, defeating the Soviet Central Asian Military Region and Outer Mongolian troops, and defeating the Siberian Military Region, making it unable to reinforce the other two battlefields. Such powerful combat power not only made the previous suspicion of all walks of life disappear, but also shocked the glasses all over the floor!
