Chapter 3: An Eventful Autumn (3)
Chapter 3: Evening Autumn (Three)
With the loss in his heart, Yan Xishan opened the letter Zhao Zhenzhong wrote to him. After reading it, Yan Xishan felt even more moved: "This Zhao Zhenzhong, he wants to clean up the Kuomintang from the root."
Seeing that Jia Jingde was puzzled, Yan Xishan handed over the letter and said, "You can take a look too. He is a young man, but he knows a lot about the old things back then."
In this letter, Zhao Zhenzhong first explained that some of the previous conflicts between the People's Army and the Jinsui Army were the irreconcilable results of the conflicts between the Northwest Government and the Nanjing authorities, giving Yan Xishan a step forward. Then Zhao Zhenzhong recorded the consistent traitor policy of the Kuomintang from Sun Wen to Lao Chiang, indicating that the Northwest Government and the People's Army were determined to be in opposition to this traitorous party and regime. Later, he also stated that Yan Xishan was a veteran of the Tongmenghui, and the Tongmenghui was not equal to the Kuomintang. He hoped that Yan Xishan could put the country and nation first and unite with the Northwest to jointly oppose Lao Chiang and Nanjing's traitorous government, and said that the Northwest would firmly support Yan Xishan's position of justice in this process.
After reading it, Jia Jingde was also very surprised and said, "It's not a good literary talent, but it's a kind of sincere speech, but are the old things mentioned in this letter true?"
Jia Jingde is not a member of the Tongmenghui, so he is not clear about the inside story of the development process from the Tongmenghui to the Kuomintang. Although Yan Xishan was a veteran of the Tongmenghui, he did not tell his secretary-general about the past because of his priest.
"The Tongmenghui was indeed a big deal." Yan Xishan sighed, "The Prime Minister did accept the money provided by the Japanese, and left the Tongmenghui headquarters, and went to Nanyang without saying goodbye. Tao, Zhang and others proposed to remove him from the position of Prime Minister of the Tongmenghui, but he was suppressed by Huang Keqiang. After Tao Chengzhang was assassinated, the Restoration Association basically disappeared. Later, the original Tongmenghui's legacy was the only one who was the prime minister. After the second time, Huang Keqiang and others parted ways with the Prime Minister due to an accident. Now, when they think about it carefully, what Huang Keqiang, Tao, Zhang and others insisted was very reasonable."
Although Yan Xishan refused to talk in depth and did not want to comment on Sun Wen, his attitude was already expressed from the indirect way from his affirmation of Huang Xing, Tao Chengzhang and Zhang Binglin's words.
"But it is not possible that we are now under the rule of the Nanjing authorities and are on the ship. It is impossible to unite with the Northwest and openly express opposition to Nanjing. At most, we will secretly unite with the Northwest and protect ourselves by aiming at Jinsui." Yan Xishan sighed.
The old Tongmeng members were either killed, died of illness, or were incorporated by the Nanjing authorities, or were suppressed. In addition, from Sun Yat-sen to Chiang Kai-shek, he blindly promoted himself to downplay or erase other forces, over the years, the "cannon" has become the "father of the nation" and the murderer has also become the chairman. In this case, if Yan Xishan jumped out and jointly settled the old accounts with the northwest, the people of the Shanxi and Suizhou provinces and the middle and lower-level military and political personnel did not understand the truth, and if others were provoked, the Shanxi and Suizhou factions themselves would fall into chaos.
Yan Xishan set the tone. After thinking about it carefully, Jia Jingde felt that this was the only way to do it now, so he stopped talking about it. Then, Yan and Jia discussed how to implement the agreement reached with the Northwest.
On May 5, the CCP armed forces heading east to Shanxi returned with full load, and all crossed the river and returned to northern Shaanxi. Immediately, the CCP issued a telegram in the name of the Soviet Central Government and the Central Revolutionary Military Commission, demanding "an arbitrage and a concerted fight against Japan", and said that "the 'People's Anti-Japanese Pioneer Army' has withdrawn from the west bank of the Yellow River. I hope that the Nanjing government will sincerely repent, and stop the civil war in Shaanxi and Shanxi first, and send representatives to discuss specific measures. I also hope that all groups and parties will stop the civil war promotion association and send representatives to block the front line of both sides."
Although Yan Xishan also wanted to cease the war, he scoffed at the CCP's electricity: "When he was short of money, food and soldiers, he ran to Shanxi for a few months, and also promoted what it was like to go north to fight against Japan and rob it. In addition, the rainy season was approaching, so he slipped back to Hexi. Now he was shouting "cease-of-war and peace" and the truth of the whole world was all in the mouth of the Communist army."
However, Yan Xishan is now unable to take into account the CCP in northern Shaanxi. In addition to busy building fortifications in western Shanxi and preventing the Communist Army from advancing east again in the future, he also has to fight openly and secretly with the Nanjing authorities and implement the agreement with the Northwest.
Just the day after all the CCP armed forces withdrew from northern Shaanxi, Yan Xishan called Nanjing and asked for advice on the grounds that the Communist bandits robbed Shanxi and cleared them out of unfavorable circumstances.
Faced with Yan Xishan's retreat as a step forward, the Nanjing authorities are really not able to make things difficult for him. If they punish local officials for the disadvantage of suppressing the Communist Party, then there will probably be more dismissals among the ranks of officials under Nanjing. Punishment of Yan Xishan will inevitably make everyone in danger. Moreover, the Jinsui Army is still obeying Yan Xishan, and even if the Nanjing authorities are willing, they are powerless. Since they cannot move Yan Xishan now, the Nanjing authorities have to call Yan Xishan to comfort him.
A few days after Nanjing pacified Yan Xishan, the Jinsui army attacked Sun Dianying's troops in the Houtao area.
First, Fu Zuoyi called Nanjing and, on the grounds that "the Sun tribe's bandits were difficult to change, the discipline was corrupt, and he repeatedly invaded the people, causing the local people to flee and the fields were deserted." He joined forces with Wang Jingguo's troops to send troops together. Taking advantage of Sun Dianying's order to go to Taiyuan, he dismissed the Sun tribe in one fell swoop. Fu and Wang's two divisions either annexed or dismissed the Sun tribe, which was really a waste of food and no one left.
Subsequently, Yan Xishan also called Nanjing and escorted Sun Dianying to Nanjing for handling on the grounds that Sun Dianying's troops did not obey the order and corrupted the local area. In addition, except for Ningma, Qingma's remaining troops in northern Ningxia were not under the jurisdiction of Taiyuan Pacification Office and Yan Xishan was unable to mobilize other troops, Pang Bingxun and other troops were transferred from the back area by Yan Xishan on the pretext of strengthening defense and guarding against the Communist bandits' eastward advance.
In fact, in order to use Sun Dianying's troops to fight against the People's Army, Yan Xishan had tolerated the troops for a long time. In the original history, after Sun Dianying failed to fight with the Northwest Horses in the spring of 1934, he was ordered by Yan Xishan to find an opportunity to deal with the Sun's troops. In this era, due to the existence of the People's Army, Sun Dianying's troops had existed for two more years.
After dealing with Sun Dianying, in addition to Ma Hongkui, Ma Buqing also brought a total of 20,000 people to harbor between the northern part of Ningxia and Suiyuan. The back and the back and the back and the back were all controlled by the Shanxi-Sui army. Under Yan Xishan's secret order, Fu Zuoyi, Wang Jingguo and others also reduced the back and the back and the back and the garrison was garrisoned, leaving only a small number of guard forces. Through this series of actions, Yan Xishan expressed the sincerity of the Shanxi-Sui army uniting with the northwest, laying the foundation for the phased cooperation between the two sides in the future.
The Northwest also responded to Yan Xishan's actions.
With the coordination of the Taiyuan Railway Bureau, starting from May 19, the trains running between Tianjin and Baode were changed to Tianjin and Baotou. The daily freight volume was transported to the Baotou area in four rows a day, with a daily freight volume of more than 3,000 tons.
According to the agreement reached with the Northwest, Yan Xishan's Jinsui Army could obtain 30 shares of the goods transported to Baotou for free, and it would take about a thousand tons of harvest every day. Such a good deal is hard to find with lanterns, and Yan Xishan, who is skilled in calculating, is naturally happy.
1,000 tons of grain can be used for more than 100,000 Jinsui Army for about 7 days, and can also provide half a month of food for 150,000 victims. Based on the daily income of 1,000 tons, as long as the transportation lasts for two or three months, not only will the food of the Jinsui Army be settled in more than a year in the next year, but even the victims of Jin and Sui provinces can receive sufficient food relief. According to the news that Jia Jingde received from the northwest, as long as the transportation is smooth, this kind of grain transportation should last until the end of the year. In other words, as long as there is no problem with transportation, Yan Xishan will obtain about 60,000 tons of grain, which is enough for the consumption of the Jinsui Army in the next two years.
Yan Xishan was happy that the Northwest could transport a large amount of grain from Southeast Asia and Australia in such a short time, and was also shocked by the Northwest's financial resources or overseas relations. The one who transported the grain this time was indeed not Huamei Company, but Chinese companies registered in Singapore and Australia, under the banner of British people. In addition to Huamei, there are other overseas Chinese supporters in the Northwest, so Zhao Zhenzhong is really not simple.
What made Yan Xishan particularly sigh was that all the food transported to the northwest through Baotou, Tong Nei and other places was used to rescue millions of victims who had entered the northwest since last year.
Last year, Yan Xishan, in order to cause chaos in the northwest to protect Shanxi and Sui's stability, advised the Nanjing authorities to transfer a large number of victims to Suiyuan, either openly or secretly, and then seek opportunities to incite the victims to enter the northwest. In addition, Zhu Qingxi was also running to help and resettle the victims. The Nanjing authorities on the surface agreed to the plan for the transfer and resettlement of the victims, but behind their backs, they intervened with Yan Xishan, secretly provoking the victims to enter the northwest for food in the autumn and winter of last year. This can not only get rid of the burden of the Nanjing authorities, but also increase the embarrassment in the northwest, so why not do it?
The Northwest is not aware of the bad water in the belly of Chiang Kai-shek and Yan Xishan; and the Northwest government is preparing to attract disaster victims to increase the population in the country, replenish labor and stabilize border defenses, Nanjing and Taiyuan are not aware of it. Both sides are planning their own plans, thinking that they can be considered an alternative win-win situation.
Inside the trap, Zhu Qinglan led the charity association to take care of the resettlement of the victims in the back trap, while Tian Yunyi and Zhu Rong were responsible for the northwest. Since all aspects of the northwest were prepared in advance, at the end of last year, among the millions of victims who were almost influential, except for a few elderly, weak and unacceptable to the water and soil, the rest were properly resettled. Moreover, according to the detailed registration information provided by Zhu Qinglan and the strict investigation by Zheng Jiantao and others, the hostile elements who were mixed with the disaster victims were not lost and all of them were captured.
Since the beginning of spring this year, there have been constant disasters in China. In the northwest, disaster victims have begun to flee to the northwest to survive.
After the victims who entered the northwest last winter settled and understood the reasons for the influx of the victims from the captured hostile elements, the Northwest government issued a statement, publicly accusing the Nanjing authorities of "having a sinister intention, betraying the outside world, and bravely fighting the civil war at home and disregarding people's livelihood. He even used the victims under his rule as weapons to launch alternative attacks on the northwest, which is so despicable, which is really outrageous." And openly stated that "the Northwest government will surely overthrow the Nanjing authorities that fought against the reactionary treason, and return the land of China and hundreds of millions of people to a bright world."
The Nanjing authorities have also refuted the accusations of the Northwest. But the outside world believes that what the Northwest says is true. Millions of victims cannot reach Suiyuan without the permission of the Nanjing authorities, and millions of victims scattered in many places poured into the Northwest almost at the same time. Someone must have been manipulating them behind the scenes. The public already believes that the "Northwest Disaster Incident" was the secret move of the Nanjing authorities.
In particular, Zhu Qinglan's condemnation statement afterwards, "Some forces do not provide disaster relief themselves, but instead use ways to destroy disaster relief. Their actions are really despicable and heartbreaking." This condemnation statement made an extremely powerful footnote to the accusations of the Northwest and the public's suspicion.
After resettling the victims, the Northwest Government issued a new statement around the end of the year: "As long as they can reach the area controlled by the People's Army and are willing to comply with the laws of the Northwest Government and obey the management of the Northwest Government, the Northwest Government can allocate land and provide them with help in making a living, so that they can have basic guarantees in their lives. However, for hostile elements who pretend to be disaster victims and refugees and attempt to infiltrate into the Northwest region, they will be severely punished once they are found."
After the release of this statement, as it was passed on by the public, it eventually evolved into the slogan of "There is a way to survive in the northwest", which encouraged thousands of victims to go to the northwest after the beginning of spring this year. However, although there are many victims in China, most of them are too far away from the northwest. They can travel several times in the first half of 2016 to the northwest, which is the victims in the northwest, that is, nearby provinces.
After Zhu Qinglan issued that statement before the end of last year, he no longer contacted the Nanjing authorities, but instead contacted important personnel from various provinces. Based on this year's disaster situation and his interpersonal relationship, Zhu Qinglan approached Sichuan Provincial Chairman Liu Xiang in late May. Zhu Qinglan worked in Sichuan in the late Qing Dynasty, and he responded positively during the 1911. In addition, he has been doing a lot of hard work for Sichuan disaster victims over the years, so he can still speak with Liu Xiang.
When Liu Xiang heard that Zhu Qinglan suggested that he organize the Sichuan disaster victims to go to the northwest through Gannan. He was surprised and blurted out: "How could Brother Ziqiao make such a proposal? Is it related to the northwest?"
"If it is related, my eldest son and his family were detained in the northwest, and there is no other connection." Zhu Qinglan said seriously, "Since the northwest publicly declared that it would give the victims who went there a way to survive, it would be better than the inaction of the authorities. As Chinese people, how can they cut off the lives of millions of victims due to different political views and factions? Not to mention the northwest, even the CCP, if it can save millions of victims from water and fire, I would also be willing to run for it. Fu Cheng is in charge of the safety of the people in Sichuan Province, and he really has the heart to die due to hunger?"
If someone else said this in front of Liu Xiang, Liu Xiang would definitely not have a good face. The worst would definitely be imprisoned and punished, and the mild would also be denounced as "rebellious and crazy words". However, this statement from Zhu Qinglan was consistent with his usual words and deeds of "only planning for disaster victims" over the years. When Jiang Feng fought against the Central Plains, Zhu Qinglan organized a lot of manpower and material resources to rescue the victims and refugees in the jurisdiction of both sides. Jiang Feng, Feng and Yan fought openly and secretly, but they also praised Zhu Qinglan's rescue activities organized by him.
"Brother Ziqiao said this, but Fu Cheng could hear it but not see it." Liu Xiang smiled bitterly, "Last year, the Sichuan Army was not good at suppressing the Communist Party, and the central government paid more and more attention to Sichuan Province. The strength of the party, government and military parties in Sichuan has been greatly strengthened. At present, the situation in Sichuan Province is subtle, so Brother Ziqiao must have heard of it. If you organize the victims to the northwest at this time, it would probably give people an excuse."
In May 1926, although many places in Sichuan had droughts and rainfall since spring, the rainy season had not arrived yet. If the rainy season could alleviate the drought and achieve a bumper harvest in autumn, this year of disaster could still pass. Now let Liu Xiang organize the victims to go to the northwest, maybe he might be labeled as a "breach".
Although he was regretful about his polite refusal, Zhu Qinglan could also guess Liu Xiang's concerns. After sighing, Zhu Qinglan asked again with a little disappointment: "At present, 67 counties in Sichuan Province have been seriously affected, and summer grain is hopeless. If the disaster is widening in summer and autumn, will Fu Cheng still ignore the tens of millions of elders?"
Of course, Liu Xiang knew that the disaster in 67 counties in Sichuan is serious now, but there are 79 counties that are expected. In addition, they are expecting the rainy season and autumn harvest, which made him politely decline Zhu Qinglan's request. But if the disaster expands, there will be no hope for summer and autumn, and then Sichuan's 560 million elders will really struggle on the verge of life and death.
"If Brother Ziqiao is unfortunate enough to say that by August and September, the disaster will still be no longer possible. Even if Fu Cheng tries to do this, he will never ignore the life and death of thousands of elders in Sichuan Province. He will always make a living for everyone." After gritting his teeth, Liu Xiang said with a sigh, "Just as Brother Ziqiao said, Fu Cheng will definitely organize the victims to go through northern Sichuan and south of Gansu to northwest."
Although Liu Xiang was brave in fighting and dared to fight desperately, he was called "Liu Mangzi" and was also superstitious, but he had great righteousness in his heart, which can be seen from Liu Xiang's actions during the War of Resistance in history.
Originally, after the July and 7 Incident, facing the hesitation of all parties, Liu Xiang openly declared at the National Defense Conference in Nanjing: "War of Resistance, Sichuan can send 300,000 troops, 5 million strong men, and provide several tens of thousands of stones of food." Afterwards, Liu Xiang's death will "The War of Resistance will be unswerving, that is, the enemy will not withdraw from the border for one day, and the Sichuan army will not return home for one day" inspired the Sichuan army soldiers to go on the front line.
In fact, in the eight years of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Sichuan dispatched 400,000 troops and provided more than 3 million troops to the front line. It can be said that if there were no Sichuan, not only would Chiang Kai-shek have been a problem, but whether he could survive for 8 years would be a problem.
But what is regrettable is that Liu Xiang, an anti-Japanese hero, ended up opening a coffin and storming his corpse behind him, and his corpse was gone.
At this time, when Zhu Qinglan saw that Liu Xiang had said this, it was hard to say anything else. He only said: "I hope that God bless the people of Sichuan Province and reduce the rain as soon as possible. If there is any dissonance in the matter, I hope Fu Cheng will do his best."
"Brother Ziqiao, don't worry. Fu Cheng is supported by the elders of Sichuan Province, and he has never ignored the life and death of tens of millions of elders," Liu Xiang solemnly promised.
Although Zhu Qinglan failed to make the victims of Sichuan go north immediately, he also received a promise from Liu Xiang and gained something. At this time, the northwest territory also suffered a certain degree of disaster.
In the first half of 2016, several earthquakes were suffered in the Northwest Government.
First, on January 1, and on January 28, two earthquakes occurred in Xinjiang, which had a certain impact on the People's Army, which was in a state of war at that time. Later, earthquakes occurred in Nilek, Xinjiang on May 17 and Turpan on May 20. Fortunately, the magnitude was not high and the damage caused was not large.
Outside Xinjiang, Gansu also had two earthquakes before the end of May.
A magnitude 6 earthquake occurred in Kangle and Hezheng areas in Gansu on February 7, causing serious losses of collapsed houses, nearly 100 caves, more than 100 injured and dozens of dead. Subsequently, a magnitude 5 earthquake occurred in Lanzhou and Linxia areas on March 8. However, this time, only a few houses collapsed, and no casualties were killed and the losses were minor.
In addition to earthquakes, other disasters also occur frequently. In the Hexi Corridor area, there is severe spring drought. Fortunately, water conservancy facilities have been improved, and drought-resistant machinery such as diesel engine water pumps have been put into use. Although summer grains have been greatly affected, they can also ensure harvest. Compared with the losses caused by the excessive drought and plague in the Hexi Corridor area in the spring and summer of 1936 in history, it is almost negligible.
The current losses in the northwest are not serious, but Zhao Zhenzhong knows that if the records are correct, there will be earthquakes in Xinjiang and Gansu this year, and it will cause greater damage than before. As for the hail that caused large-scale losses to Ningxia and Gansu in summer and autumn in history, Zhao Zhenzhong is trying to use rockets to interfere in the weather and try to reduce losses as much as possible.
While taking in the northwest, resettling surrounding provinces to the disaster victims one after another, and stepping up construction to consolidate the foundation, Chiang Kai-shek was also thinking about whether to use the five Central Army divisions entering Shanxi, plus more than 100,000 Shanxi-Sui Army to first unplug the People's Army's bridgehead in northwest Shanxi, or to cross the river to northern Shaanxi, and clean up the CCP with the cooperation of Zhang and Yang? Of course, it is inevitable to take the opportunity to weaken the Shanxi-Sui Army and intervene in the affairs of Shanxi and Sui provinces.
On May 26, the Nanjing authorities appointed Chen Cheng as the commander-in-chief of the bandit suppression in the border areas of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Suining Provinces, and were responsible for the unified command of the bandit suppression in the northwest. Chiang Kai-shek's pace of undermining Yan Xishan took another solid step forward. However, with a secret agreement with the northwest, the Shanxi-Sui army was in control. Yan Xishan did not show how panic, but instead expressed his agreement with the central government's decision.
But before Chiang could figure out which one to attack first, Guangdong and Guangxi made a mess first.
On June 1, Guangdong Chen Jitang and Guangxi Li Zongren and others sent a telegram to the whole country in the name of the Southwest Executive Department of the Kuomintang and the Southwest Government Committee of the National Government, attacking the Nanjing authorities under Chiang Kai-shek's control to compromise and concessions with Japan, claiming that Guangdong and Guangxi were willing to fight to the death with the Japanese invaders, and demanded that Chiang Kai-shek immediately stop advancing against powerful local factions. On the 2nd, Guangdong and Guangxi established a military committee and the Anti-Japanese and National Salvation Army, with Chen Jitang as the chairman and commander-in-chief, and Li Zongren as the deputy commander-in-chief, and advanced to Hunan.
Seeing that the good chess to be played in the northwest was disrupted by Guangdong and Guangxi, Chiang Kai-shek was naturally annoyed. On the one hand, Chiang Kai-shek refuted the telegrams between Guangdong and Guangxi in the name of the Nanjing government and the Kuomintang Central Committee, claiming that "the country must be settled before fighting foreign countries, and the unification can prevent darkness." And denounced the two Guangxi as "local generals and officials disobeying orders"; on the other hand, he sent telegrams between Guangdong and Guangxi in the name of the Military Commission, strictly ordered the troops not to act without authorization. On June 10, the two Central Army armies took the lead in occupying Hengyang and blocked the northward roads between Guangdong and Guangxi.
In fact, the occurrence of the Guangdong-Guangdong Incident was that although some local powerful factions were unwilling to give up their power and wanted to use the banner of anti-Japanese war to compete with Chiang Kai-shek with the public opinion, the incident had a lot to do with Chiang Kai-shek himself to this extent.
After the Central Plains War, Yan, Feng Shiye and Wang Zhaoming ran away, and the forces within the Kuomintang who challenged Lao Chiang were suppressed. However, Lao Chiang used force to resolve conflicts within the party and exclude dissatisfaction with more local powerhouses.
In the spring of 1931, Chiang Kai-shek actually put Hu Hanmin under house arrest, which aroused great dissatisfaction among the local forces in Guangdong, which supported Hu Hanmin. The Guangxi faction was defeated by Chiang Kai-shek in the past two years, and was not willing to let it go, so he joined forces to fight Chiang Kai-shek together. It can be said that since 1931, Guangdong and Guangxi have basically been in a semi-independent state and continued until before the Guangdong and Guangxi Incident.
At the end of 35, Chen Jitang sent people to Nanjing to report his work. Chiang Kai-shek actually revealed to people that the central government was preparing to resolve the Guangxi clique and asked Chen Jitang to cooperate to completely resolve the Guangxi clique and all anti-Chiang forces in Guangdong.
Guangdong and Guangxi were having a happy private communication and cooperation at that time. How could Chen Jitang believe that Chiang Kai-shek's cake? On the contrary, after Chen Jitang got the news, he believed that his lips were dead and teeth were cold. Once the Guangxi clan failed, the Guangdong clan could not avoid the fate of being annexed by Chiang Kai-shek. Therefore, Chen Jitang simply took the initiative to contact the Guangxi clan, combined Chiang Kai-shek's intentions, and jointly opposed Chiang Kai-shek.
On May 12, 2016, a heavyweight anti-Chiang Dynasty figure, Hu Hanmin, the nominal leader of the Guangdong clan, died of a cerebral hemorrhage. Taking advantage of the opportunity of reintegration of the Guangdong clan and Guangxi clans after Hu Hanmin's death, Lao Chiang made five suggestions: 1. Abolish the semi-independent status of Guangdong clans; 2. Send people to replace Hu Hanmin in the Guangdong provincial government and reorganize the Guangdong provincial government; 3. The former Guangdong clans are willing to go to Nanjing workers at will and are unwilling to fund the central government to go abroad for inspection; 4. The military commanders of the Guangdong army are appointed by the Military Commission; 5. Cancel Guangdong currency and unify the legal currency.
As soon as these five suggestions were released, Chiang Kai-shek's intention to reduce the vassal states was undoubtedly exposed. Chen Jitang was unwilling to sit and wait for death. He immediately contacted the Xin Guangxi faction and decided to send troops together to go north to oppose Chiang.
However, while the Guangdong and Guangxi clans oppose Chiang Kai-shek under the banner of anti-Japanese war, they accept Japanese military aid, and even have Japanese instructors in their troops. This is really a great irony.
Based on these complex situations, after the Guangdong-Guangdong Incident, the Northwest Government and the People's Army did not talk much about it after only one comment on the incident. In this comment, the Northwest believed that the Guangxi faction was shouting about anti-Japanese war, but was accepting Japanese aid and Japanese instructors, which was disgusting; the Nanjing authorities suppressed the anti-Japanese war and acts even more abominable. It also pointed out that the Guangdong-Guangdong Incident was just a new round of power struggles by different factions within the Kuomintang in the name of anti-Japanese war or not.
Of course, there are also some benefits brought to the northwest by the Guangdong-Guangdong Incident. Affected by the incident, in order to alleviate the accusations and pressure from all parties, Chiang Kai-shek stopped his original plan to carry out actions in the northwest, and even increased his efforts to win over Yan Xishan.
However, Zhao Zhenzhong and others did not pay too much attention to the Guangdong-Guangdong Incident. Instead, they concentrated on summarizing the gains and losses of the New and Mongolian Battles from late May to early June, and formulated combat plans for the next year. The plan to strive for seaports in the northwest has also begun to enter the implementation stage...
