...

As time entered September and the autumn wind gradually rose, the outbreak of the epidemic finally stopped. Li Laodao also ended the matter of holding a guest appearance in Juxian Palace.

Two months of busyness have greatly increased the reputation of Taiqing Palace and Li Laodao among the nearby people. Before Li Laodao left Juxian Palace, Zhou Luxue, Zhao Shanchu and several elders of Taiqing Palace had asked him to go to Taiqing Palace for an interview, hoping that Li Laodao could hold orders in Juxian Palace for a long time and preside over the corresponding affairs. Li Laodao was puzzled at first, but after his conversation, he realized that Taiqing Palace hoped to use his influence on the children in the mountains, especially Zhao Zhenzhong and the three others, as well as his medical skills and reputation among the nearby people, to help Taiqing Palace maintain his interests in the nearby mountain fields.

Li Laodao politely said that there were a large number of children in the mountains that needed care and the autumn harvest was approaching. Finally, under the persuasion of Zhou Luxury Palace and Zhao Shanchu of Taiqing Palace, Li Laodao also considered that he still rented the Taiqing Palace and would have to deal with Taiqing Palace in the future, so it was difficult to refuse too much. Finally, he agreed that when the Taiqing Palace was in need, Li Laodao could help solve the problems nearby and serve as the nominal host in Juxian Palace.

Juxian Palace had been demolished in the era where Zhao Zhenzhong originally lived. However, in this era, nearly 30 houses in Juxian Palace are still well preserved. Juxian Palace is also known as Hanzhai Temple and Hanzhai Temple. It is located in the north of Nanyao Village, Laoshan. It was founded in the third year of Taiding in the Yuan Dynasty (1326). The palace was founded by famous Taoist priests Li Zhiming and Wang Zhizhen, and Zhang Qiyan, a scholar in Yuan Dynasty, and wrote the inscription of the "Juxian Palace Stele". At first, the palace was magnificent, and at this time there were Jade Emperor, Zhenwu, and Sanqing Halls, with nearly 30 houses in total. There were several osmanthus trees and silver in the temple.

Apricot plant was planted more than 600 years ago. It is a place that many Taoists yearn for and often come to hold orders. To the west of the Taoist temple is the famous local dog hole stone. This stone is like a squatting dog, wrinkled and slim, and is a typical sea erosion stone. Unfortunately, due to war and other reasons, this palace temple only had nine houses in the Zhenwu Palace when Zhao Zhenzhong was founded in the world, and was finally demolished in 1956. Later, in 1958, a Happy Village was established in the place where Juxian Palace was originally located.

After Li Laodao returned, he told the matter, and Kuang Zhen felt a little sorry that such a good place in Juxian Palace could not be used. After analyzing, Zhao Zhenzhong and the other two felt that it was right not to accept the entrustment from Taiqing Palace now.

"The master is a Taoist priest of Baiyun Cave. It is okay to be placed in the Juxian Palace under the name of Taiqing Palace. But if he becomes a Taoist priest of Taiqing Palace, he is afraid he is not easy to say about Baiyun Cave. Furthermore, if the master becomes a person in Taiqing Palace, we will indirectly become the disciples of Taiqing Palace. Although it is more convenient in some aspects, we have to assume some responsibilities of Taiqing Palace. This is not as free as we are just renting the Taiqing Palace Mountain Field now." Zhao Zhenzhong explained.

"I think so too," said the old Taoist nodded and said, "The old Taoist is used to being scattered and not used to being bound by any precepts, let alone being involved in you? Let's just forget about this. If you can help the Taiqing Palace, we can do our best."

For the next nine and ten months, everyone was busy with the autumn harvest.

At this time last year, Zhao Zhenzhong and his friends were busy going up and down the sea every day for their life. Now, looking at the harvest situation in front of them, Zhao Zhenzhong and the other two, the old Taoist, Kuang Zhujue and others were the ones who were most moved.

"Master, this year's harvest, I guess we can take in some orphans, but the space in the cave can no longer be increased." Zhao Zhenzhong estimated, "After the autumn harvest is over, please ask a few people to help build a few more adobe thatched houses near the cave."

"How many rooms are you going to build?"

"When the autumn harvest is over, let's talk about how much food you have collected. You must always know how much food you can use to retain children."

After nearly two months of busyness, the harvest has gradually been counted:

After 50 acres of land for rotation provided 4,150 kilograms of wheat in summer, they now provided more than 4,700 kilograms of corn, more than 2,100 kilograms of soybeans and mung beans.

In addition to the 50 acres of land in this round of crops, the remaining 20 acres provided 19,000 kilograms of sweet potatoes. Except for the reserved planting and daily consumption, the rest were made into dried sweet potatoes that were easy to store, with a total of about 7,000 kilograms.

There are 8 acres of land that provide 400 kilograms of peanuts.

The grain output of these 80 acres is far lower than the later acres of yield records that Zhao Zhenzhong and the other two knew. However, when Li Laodao and others looked at the golden corn, soybeans and other harvested grains in the stone cave storage room under the light, they were so happy that they couldn't stop.

In addition to grain, this year, the Yang brothers who were releasing silkworms invited by Mr. Li to guide everyone, and harvested nearly 3,500 kilograms of silkworm cocoons in total. In addition to the reserved more than 200 kilograms of silkworm cocoons for use as cocoons, the other cocoons provided more than 670 kilograms of cocoons and more than 2,600 kilograms of silkworm pupae.

There are also 5 pigs, which are estimated to be able to provide more than 500 kilograms of pork. The more than 20 chickens can now provide more than 10 eggs every day.

Based on this grain figure, Zhao Zhenzhong and others roughly estimated that from November to June next year, they could support up to 200 people in about eight months before summer grain harvest. That is to say, the current 90 people can be doubled. Considering that the stone cave can accommodate up to 120 people, if the expansion of this place to accommodate 200 people, then 10 houses will be needed.

After the calculations were stopped, Li Tongsheng and Kuang Zhenjue wanted to go to the surrounding counties and townships and Qingdao cities like last year to find the wandering children. However, Li Laodao stopped the two: "Don't be busy with this matter, wait until Xiaozi and I and I go to Taiqing Palace to talk. We will decide to build a house and take in children after we come back."

"Then we brought the children back last year?" Li Tongsheng was puzzled.

"I met it all the time last year, and it was winter again, so I didn't have time to discuss it with Taiqing Palace," Li Laodao explained: "We live in Taiqing Palace now. We have so many children taken in other people's grounds. How can we not even say hello to the master? What do you think?"

"I don't have that much thought," Li Tongsheng scratched his head and muttered: "Isn't it a good thing to save a life if he or she takes in orphans?"

"Senior brother, it depends on the method to do good deeds." Zhao Zhenzhong shook his head and said.

The next day, Li Laodao asked for help from a nearby village and drove a boat to the small pier such as himself, Zhao Zhenzhong and others, as well as some of the prepared gifts to the small pier at the foot of the Taiqing Palace Mountain. Among these gifts were basically newly harvested grain, fruits and wild fruits picked from the mountains, as well as several gourds made of wild grapes.

After meeting Zhou Luxue and Zhao Shanchu, Zhao Zhenzhong thanked Taiqing Palace for its help in the past year. After the greetings, Zhao Zhenzhong said: "After the three of us lost their relatives, they came back from overseas. Fortunately, Taiqing Palace provided us with a place to live and provided help from multiple sources. Only then can we have food and clothing, and we can take in some orphans like us last year. This year we harvested some food in the cultivated land. We want to take in some orphans. We hope that the two elders and the palace will agree."

"Can you live in the place where you live?" Zhao Shanchu asked.

"If the two elders agree, we want to build another 10 adobe houses to take in orphans."

"10 rooms?" Zhao Shanchu was surprised, "How many people are you going to take in total?"

"We can only decide how many people are taken in according to the grain harvest. We have about a hundred people now, but fortunately, the children don't eat much. In total, they can take in about 200 people."

"200 people?" Zhao Shanchu was even more surprised. "You can take 200 people in the harvest of 80 acres of land in a year?"

"This is not only based on harvests in the fields, but also on raising pigs, raising silkworms, collecting wild fruits and medicinal materials in the mountains, and collecting various seafood flavours from the sea. It can roughly support 200 people to consume until next summer grain season," Zhao Zhenzhong explained.

"Zhao Xiaozi uses 50 acres of land to rotate crops, and he can harvest three times a year in one acre of land. Only then can he barely support 200 people." Mr. Li added.

"Get three times a year?" Zhou Luxue became curious.

Mr. Li explained how to rotate the 50 acres of land.

Zhou Luxue and Zhao Shanchu understood, but he could not apply the same method on the land of Taiqing Palace. It turned out that Taiqing Palace advocated Taoism and followed nature and required that its tenants not use any fertilization method. Even if they could not use animal power after harvest, they could not use all human power. However, the rent in Taiqing Palace was not high, and they were basically collected three times in five years, and were collected at 30% of the harvest.
