Strictly speaking, the cave mentioned by Zhao Zhenzhong cannot be regarded as a cave, but just a space formed between a huge rock and a mountain.

After choosing to settle in this place, Zhao Zhenzhong used Li Shiqing to find pickaxes, shovels, baskets, axes, sickles and other tools from Taiqing Palace to repair the existing thatched huts and surrounding environment in Taiqing Palace. Under the leadership of Li Shiqing and others, not only did the huts be renovated to keep it from wind and rain, but also cleaned up several mountain springs under the cliff at the foot of the mountain in the southeast to build a small well. The well has a small capacity, but it is enough for him to do so.

We used our lives. After the well was built, weeds and gravels between the well and the huts were removed, and a small path of about 100 meters was sorted out using a relatively flat terrain. Therefore, we did not have to run a few hundred meters of rugged mountain road to get water by the Liuqing River. At the same time, a small piece of vegetable field was opened near the well, and some vegetables with short growth cycles such as cabbage, spinach, and leeks were planted. Now it seems that the growth is good, and vegetables in this winter should be guaranteed.

It was when he was sorting out the water source and going to the road between the huts that Zhao Zhenzhong discovered the stone cave. This also became a busy place where he often went after he repaired the water well to the hut.

Above the foot of the mountain more than 100 meters northeast of the house, several huge rocks fell into the mountain. Among them, a giant rock with an exposed ground height of about 5 meters is closer to the mountain, and the two are at an angle of more than 40 degrees. A hole with a roughly triangular opening facing south is formed between the mountain, and the rocks and the ground.

There are mountains on the east and north sides of the hole, and huge rocks on the west side. There are still mountains on the west side of the hole.

The height above the surface of the entire hole is about 5 meters. The top of the hole is about 10 to 30 cm away from the mountain, and a naturally formed gap of roughly north-south directions is about 15 meters long. Based on this, the depth of this hole is at least 15 meters.

The lower half of the hole is filled with weathered gravel, gravel and soil.

Judging from the cross-section of the debris filled in the hole and the approximate length of the hole, Zhao Zhenzhong calculated that the debris needed to be sorted in the entire hole was about 120 cubic meters.

Zhao Zhenzhong has been using existing tools to start cleaning up the debris in the cave for more than 20 days. After this period of sorting, the final length of the entire cave was determined to be about 22 meters. The originally expected workload of 120 cubic meters now seems a bit low. The debris that have been cleaned up alone is about 90 cubic meters. With the small cave room to be separated behind, the entire workload must be far beyond the expectations. However, according to the current progress, in about twenty days, the initial cleaning of the cave should be completed.

According to his idea, after cleaning up the debris, the "skylight" on it is sealed with thatch and yellow mud. This is a good cave for wintering. If you design the flue and ventilation holes, build a kang in the cave, or a heating setting similar to a fireplace, and add a portal to block the entrance of the cave, it will be even more perfect. At least you don’t have to fear the cold this winter.

That afternoon, Zhao Zhenzhong went to clean up the debris in the caves as usual. After two hours of busyness, Zhao Zhenzhong stopped to sit down and rest on a stone. While picking up the kettle to drink water, he thought about the information he had obtained during this period.

It has been more than a month since I came here. Zhao Zhenzhong has already gained a general understanding of some of the surrounding situations through observation and consultation with Li Shiqing.

The thatched huts where Zhao Zhenzhong and his friends now live are on the hillside of Chaoyang to the south. They are surrounded by rugged rocks, and only the southwest side leads to the outside. About 200 meters southwest is Liuqing River, which flows from north to south. Liuqing River originates from the south slope of Jufeng. The upper reaches are Heichongjian and the upper reaches are the two water flows of Heichongjian and the middle reaches are Jialian River, which flows north to south. The lower reaches are called Liuqing River. Liuqing River is Changliu River, which has sweet and cold water. He is named because the river is clear.

Just west of the house, there is a mountain stream of 100 meters deep, and the mountain springs flow continuously for many years.

The northwest of the mountain stream is Ma'anzi Village, with about 10 households and more than 40 people, all of whom are surnamed Wang.

The west side of Liuqing River crosses the mountain on a Chaoyang hillside is where the place is called the Unicorn Slope. There are five or six families with Wang surnamed Wang.

The straight line in the south is Liuqinghe Village, separated by mountains and rivers. Liuqinghe Village is located on the east side of the mouth of Liuqinghe River. There are about 20 households and about 90 people, mainly including Qu, Tang, Ji and other surnames.

The southwest straight line is about 600 meters away from Dongmaiyao Village, with about 30 households and more than 100 people, including Li, Wang, Tang, Dai and other surnames, and most of them are from the Li family.

About 300 meters southwest is Ximaiyao Village, with about 40 households and nearly 200 people. Tang, Wang, Dong, Zhang, Miao and other surnames, among which the Tang surname accounts for about 75% of the total population of the village, and Wang surname accounts for about 10%.

Liuqinghe Village, Dongmaiyao Village and Ximaiyao Village are arranged in an arc shape around Liuqinghe Bay on the bank.

About 1 kilometer southwest of Ximaiyao Village is Nanyao Village, with about 80 households and more than 300 people. There are surnames such as Dong, Duan, Gou, Wang, Li, Liu, and Zhu, among which Dong and Duan are mostly homes.

In this era, Nanyao Village was surrounded by the sea on three sides, Liuqinghe Bay on the east, Huaishi Bay on the south, and Chianyao Bay on the west, and only the north is intermittently connected to the land. The north is the place where Dengyao River enters the sea, and there is often sea water between it and the land. Only when the tide is low can people travel back and forth through the ground that faintly exposes the water surface and the shallow water and land. Therefore, the area where Nanyao Village is located is also called Nanyao Island.

The east and west sides of Nanyao Island are mostly beaches, and the south end is Dading Mountain, with the main peak at an altitude of 135.4 meters. The entire Nanyao Island is about 2 kilometers long from north to south and about 1.5 kilometers wide from east to west, and the overall area is about 5 square kilometers. From the sky, the entire shape of Nanyao Island is somewhat like an axe with a notch.

In the nearby villages, except for those who make a living by fishing, many of them are tenants of Taiqing Palace Mountain Farm. Mainly the mountain farm west of Ladder Stone and Nanyao Mountain Farm. According to the records in Taiqing Palace, the mountain farm west of Ladder Stone is from the east to the top of the Tisstone, the sea to the south, the east of the small stone house in the west, and the Taipingding in the north. The Nanyao Mountain Farm is from the east to the Abalone Island Sea, the Fukushima Sea to the south, the Taihu Shihai, and the small port in front of Juxian Palace. The area of these two squares is not small.

In these two places, the residents near the mountain farm west of Ladder Stone are not entirely tenants of Taiqing Palace, while the residents of Nanyao Island are all. The reason is that the entire Nanyao Island is within the area of Nanyao Mountain farm of Taiqing Palace, and the island is also Taiqing Palace industry. However, the burden of tenants here is relatively light, most of which pay rent for three or seven in five years, 30% of the tenants, and the Taiqing Palace collects 30% of the food. The grain rent in Nanyao Village is used as offerings, and it is forbidden to use human feces and urine to water. When harvesting, livestock is not allowed to be used to fight the farm. It is entirely up to manpower to use stone mills and other basic tools. People who fight the farm must also tie their legs and wear socks.

When Li Shiqing talked about the situation nearby, he mentioned the famous "Fashan" incident that happened here nearly 50 years ago. Zhao Zhenzhong remembered that when he was studying in Qingdao, he had seen a famous celebrity about Laoshan mentioned this incident. In the famous celebrities about Laoshan, it was recorded that a man named Zhong Chengcong was angry that Taiqing Palace occupied the people's mountains and forests and Taoist priests bullied the people, so he led the people to attack the mountains and made a big fuss in Taiqing Palace.

However, Li Shiqing's statement is different from the records seen in Zhao Zhenzhong's memory. In the story, Li Shiqing believes that it was because some people were instigating behind their backs, and gathering people to attack the Taiqing Palace was actually a different idea.

"It is said that Taiqing Palace colluded with the government and oppressed the people, causing the people to gather and attack the mountains, but why did the government not appear when the people gathered? Why didn't the government come forward when the people robbed Taiqing Palace? The government then re-judged why there was no favoritism in the mountains, forests and land? It should be noted that the Nian Army Rebellion was over. If there were no strong people to indulge and support, how dare the mountain people gathered together to cause trouble? What's more, the people gathered were not adjacent villages, but the scope was not small. Many people even didn't know each other. With the leader alone, thousands of people could gather together, and they could also plunder the Taiqing Palace and attack the mountains together?"

"Afterwards, someone wrote a storybook to spread the evil Taoist priests in Taiqing Palace, and it was reasonable for the people to resist. Not long after the Nian Army Rebellion was quelled, ordinary people dared to promote it like this, and the government let it go. The person who took the lead in gathering the mountain to seize the mountain was able to receive the salary of the fifth-rank official when he died more than ten years ago. Jimo County even gave a plaque of the fifth-rank Zhixi to praise it. All of these shows that the matter of destroying the mountain is not as simple as the surface. The person who took the lead in gathering the mountain is probably used by someone to stand out."

Zhao Zhenzhong still remembered Li Shiqing's emotion at that time.

As for what those people were planning, Li Shiqing was vague. However, the issues mentioned by Li Shiqing made Zhao Zhenzhong feel that what happened back then might be really mysterious, and the gap between the real history and the history in books is not very far.

Zhao Zhenzhong sat on the stone and thought a lot. After resting, he stood up and prepared to start digging a hole. Looking at the surrounding huts, wells, paths and increasingly widening stone caves, Zhao Zhenzhong's heart became more and more stable: in this era, he has finally settled down. No matter what the future will be, at least the start is very good now.
