Section 3 Fighting at Songhu (3)

If Zhuang Jihua was there, this would never be the case. The key to whether the Shanghai Battle can win is no longer whether it can conquer Hongkou, but whether it can cut off the Japanese naval support. At present, more than 40 Japanese Navy warships gathered on the periphery of Shanghai, and the naval guns directly support the Shanghai defenders' operations. Our army's casualties are mainly caused by Japanese warship artillery fire.

The b17 is a strategic bomber. It is OK to bomb dull land targets, and its power to deal with maritime activities has been greatly reduced. Therefore, the key now is to dive bombers and torpedo attack aircraft. Considering the long-term nature of the war, even if torpedo attack aircraft is not needed, dive bombers should be required to cut off the Japanese army's maritime supply line from the air. Only in this way can the Shanghai war be victorious.

Leaving Chiang Kai-shek's business with the Americans, Zhang Zhizhong commanded the Ninth Army to continue to launch an attack on Shanghai, with the focus of the attack on Huishan Wharf in the 87th region.

In this area, the Japanese army was equipped with two marine brigades (the author's note: the Japanese Marine Corps is smaller than the Army, and one Marine Corps has less than 600 people), and four 150mm mortars, two rapid-fire guns, and two 92 infantry guns.

Feng Shengfa, the commander of the 87th Division, succeeded Sun Yuanliang as the commander of the 87th Division. He participated in the 128th Shanghai War and was sincerely happy to fight against Japan in Shanghai again. He knew that the Japanese artillery support must come from foreign naval warships. Once our artillery preparations were over, they must immediately attack and approach the Japanese army to prevent the counterattack of Japanese naval artillery. Therefore, when arriving on the attack, he arranged for Shen Fazhausao's 259th Brigade to take the lead.

"Captain Shen, move quickly, don't be afraid of casualties. We suffered such losses during the 128th day. As soon as the artillery fire stopped, you will follow the tank." Feng Shengfa repeatedly reminded him, but Shen Fazao silently stared at the map on the table. Under the dim oil lamp, the streets in Shanghai were vividly remembered. It was only 4,000 meters from the front to Huishan Wharf, but these 4,000 meters were filled with human lives.

"This won't work, division commander," Shen Fazao interrupted Feng Shengfa's words: "The Japanese army already knows that we have heavy artillery, so they will definitely observe our heavy artillery position tomorrow. Therefore, the preparation time for artillery should not be too long, and the preparation time for artillery must be shortened. The main thing is to rely on our own firepower. I plan to open up the inner walls of the building in this area, and when the artillery is ready, then blow up the last two walls, and then fight out, so that the tanks will follow us."

"But here is just a road away from the front of the Japanese army, and our artillery fire will blow you into minced meat." Feng Shengfa couldn't help but shout after seeing a line drawn by his fingers.

"No." Shen Fazao said: "It's not a road, it's thirty meters. We won't open the last two walls. But we have two more floors above our heads to protect it. Let's do this."

Feng Shengfa looked at Shen Fazao and nodded heavily, patted his shoulder with both hands and dust: "Brother, take care of yourself."

The next day, just as the sky was dawn, the artillery bombardment of the Chinese team began, and the fierce artillery fire directly hit the Japanese officers' club. Hundreds of various shells fell from the breakthrough, and the artillery fire broke out for five minutes. Then the heavy artillery stopped, and the division's artillery continued to fire. Five minutes later, a red signal flare took off.

Two explosions sounded from the exterior wall of the building opposite the Officer Club. After the smoke of gunpowder, two large holes were revealed. Two figures rushed out from inside. Dozens of figures rushed out from behind. Motors roared on the front street. Several tanks appeared on the street.

The Japanese soldiers ran out of the hidden place and shouted. But before the sound disappeared, gunshots rang out in the yard. The commando of the 259th Brigade had already rushed into the yard. The soldiers on the first floor were screaming and rushed out of the yard. They collided with the commando head-on.

The Marines were all selected soldiers, fighting more than ordinary soldiers. As soon as they met, three or four commandos were stabbed down. The commandos behind rushed up again without changing their faces.

The number of people in the assault team far exceeded that of the Japanese in the club. Both sides immediately launched a battle upstairs and downstairs. Tanks rushed across the streets. The soldiers following behind also rushed into the club. The number of Chinese soldiers was even greater. They gradually forced the Japanese to the second floor of the club. The second floor was also fighting. The first floor was the hall dialect. The second floor was the place where they really wanted to have fun. Japanese tatami and partition houses were hit and smashed. On the street, the Japanese soldiers were blown up and several big holes were blown away. When they retreated to the second floor, they quickly formed a bloody bayonet, all of which were all out. But China caught up with them. They made up for this set of guns. Then they turned around and rushed to the third floor.

At the same time, the officers' club was fighting fiercely. Another commando from the 259th Brigade also rushed in. Their layout was better. After rushing into the warehouse, three Czech and eight submachine guns opened the way. Behind were twelve bombardiers, pushing over all the way. The fierce firepower made the Japanese army unable to raise their heads and rushed to the front.

The smooth breakthrough of the frontier made Feng Shengfa very happy. He immediately ordered Shen Fazao to continue attacking Huishanma. But at this time, a harsh roar came, followed by a violent explosion.

"Damn it, you're reacting quickly enough." Feng Shengfa cursed fiercely. Such an explosion could only be naval naval artillery shells, and it was above 200mm caliber on the battleship. Feng Shengfa began to worry about Shen Fazao who was assaulting Huishan Wharf.

Shen Fazao was indeed in danger. The fierce artillery fire blocked his attack line. The Japanese troops on the second line retreated while the club and warehouse were fighting fiercely, with the purpose of making room for the naval guns.

The firepower of the naval guns was too strong. After being hit by seven or eight guns, the club collapsed with a bang. All the soldiers hiding inside were buried alive. The warehouse next to it was better than it, and it was hit by a few more guns before it collapsed. The artillery blocked the infantry, and the tanks attacked the Japanese positions alone, but were easily blown up by the Japanese army, and all the tank soldiers were killed.

"Damn, this won't work." Feng Shengfa anxiously punched the wall after seeing this scene in the telescope. He turned around and grabbed the phone: "Check Commander Zhang! Hurry up!"

"Commander Zhang, the enemy's naval gun is too fierce, we can't hit it at all," Feng Shengfa shouted.

"Feng Shengfa, don't complain! Didn't you strengthen two tank companies?" Zhang Zhizhong's tone was very stern: "I tell you Feng Shengfa, you can't get the military law of Huishan Wharf!"

"Tank, the Japanese blocked all the streets. The tanks could not be deployed at all, and now they have lost a company." Feng Shengfa did not conceal the losses of the tank company.

"You fart!" The eldest son, who has always been elegant, couldn't help but curse: "Why can't you use it? How did the Japanese perform it at 128? Let me tell you Feng Shengfa, Chairman can wait for our good news in Nanjing. If you have the idea of preserving your strength, get out as soon as possible!"

"I want to have that idea. I have no asshole for a son!" After Feng Shengfa finished speaking, he angrily smashed the microphone on the phone.

"Let's fight, let's do it all." Chief of Staff Xia Sheng sighed. There is no way to do this situation. It can only rely on the bravery of the soldiers.

"No, this army was trained for several years. We can't just run out like this." Feng Shengfa said as he quickly picked up the phone.

"Commander Zhang, Teacher Zhang, my opinion is to temporarily stop the attack and let the Air Force deal with the Japanese fleet first. They hide at the sea, so we can't fight. The Air Force can always fight." Feng Shengfa was forced to force him to come up with a good idea.

Zhang Zhizhong also knew the threat of Japanese naval guns, but he had no choice. Not only did the 87th Division, 88th Division, 36th, and 98th Division, each division encountered the same problem, and every attack attracted fierce bombardment of Japanese naval guns. The more they went in, the more fierce the Japanese artillery fire became. In order to prevent the Japanese artillery counterattack, his heavy artillery brigade could only fight for a few minutes at a time. After the shooting, he had to quickly transfer the position, and thus he had lost two 150mm howitzers.

Feng Shengfa's opinion reminded him. He immediately telegraphed Zhou Zhirou of the Air Force, hoping that he could send planes to attack the Japanese fleet and drive them away from the sea.

Zhou Zhirou did not refuse, and the Air Force won consecutive battles. It was when the morale was high. He calculated that nearly 80 planes of the Japanese army advanced to the base had been shot down. Of course, the forty-nine planes were exaggerated, but that was changed by the Chairman himself to enhance national morale.

Zhou Zhirou let go of the phone and discussed with Deputy Commander-in-Chief Mao Bangchu and Destroyer Commander Wang Shuming. Wang Shuming also believed that the Japanese Air Force had suffered a lot of losses. At present, the aircraft on the forward airport and aircraft carriers were not enough to compete with the Chinese Air Force. Besides, we also have radars, only half of the destroyers needed to escort, and the other half was on standby on the ground and ready for reinforcements at any time. As for bombers, they could dispatch all heavy bombers, in addition to the twenty-four B17s, there were five Savoy S72 heavy bombers, six Henkel heavy bombers, and six Martin heavy bombers, which would definitely strike the Japanese fleet.

Wang Shuming's suggestion made Zhou Zhirou very satisfied. He immediately decided that Gao Zhihang would command forty p40 and twenty Hawks to escort, and Li Guidan commanded all bf109s and the remaining twenty-six p40s to stand by on the ground.

In the afternoon, the Chinese Air Force dispatched, and the fleet gathered near Changshu and then flew towards Shanghai. A large number of aircraft flew across the sky of Shanghai. Shanghai citizens climbed onto the roof again to watch the performance of the Chinese Air Force, but unexpectedly the aircraft flew directly overseas.

"I've gone to fight the Japanese warship!"

I don’t know who shouted, and the citizens who woke up began to rush to the dock. Those who were running on a bus and pedaling tricycle were used, and the rickshaw drivers were the happiest. Not only did the price triple, but they could also see it when they arrived at the place.

The bustling people rushed to the pier, but a window on the fourth floor of a gray building next to the highway was closed. In the room, two men stood respectfully at the table, and behind the table was a middle-aged man with gold-rimmed glasses.

"What should I keep it closed? Listen more, it will be good for you." Jinli Glasses looked at the two of them coldly, and the cold sweat on their foreheads was flowing: "One of you is in Nanjing and the other is in Shanghai. I don't know what you are doing? The Chinese Air Force's local intelligence is actually zero. Due to your dereliction of duty, the warriors of the empire paid the price of their lives."

The two men did not dare to answer at all. Their bodies leaned forward slightly, and they still stretched straight. They didn't dare to wipe the sweat from their cheeks. It was not because of the hot weather, but because of fear. Although the golden silk glasses looked elegant, they were definitely a cruel and ruthless person and would never tolerate subordinates who could not complete the task.

"I don't care what method you use. Within a week, I want to know the detailed information of the Chinese Air Force. They won this battle like this?" Jin Si's glasses said with a cold air: "Kun Xiaojima, please!"

After saying that, Jinli Glasses bowed deeply to Xiaodao.

"Hayi, I will definitely live up to your trust. If I cannot complete the task, I will break my belly and apologize to His Majesty the Emperor." Kojima also bowed deeply after saying that.

The explosion from the Hongkou side suddenly weakened. Jinli Glasses pushed open the window, looked at the direction of Hongkou, and sighed. The sudden rise of the Chinese Air Force surprised the whole world. If China purchased 100 p40s from the United States and had not yet attracted the attention of the Japanese Air Force, they are now paying the price for their original arrogance.

After losing streaks, the strength of the Japanese air force around Shanghai was greatly damaged. Jinli Glasses believed that the Chinese team did not take the opportunity to attack the Japanese airport on the Ma'an Islands 150 miles away, which was a big mistake. However, he believed that it was a temporary omission by the Chinese Air Force general, or he did not know that there was a Japanese airport there, but when would this secret or omission be discovered? No one knew that with China's current air superiority in Shanghai, once it was discovered, the airport would be destined to be destroyed.

The defeat of the Japanese Air Force has alarmed the Emperor, but the guys in the Air Force can't tell how they were defeated. Every time they fight, they hurry up after being raided by the Chinese Air Force, which means they are at a disadvantage as soon as the war begins.

The Air Force could not answer this question, so the Military Headquarters handed over this question to their secret service agencies and asked them to find out the reason as soon as possible. It is impossible to achieve such results with p40 alone.

The problem was left to him, but he handed it to Xiaodao. He knew that if Xiaodao could not be solved, then no one in Shanghai and Nanjing could solve it at present, because Xiaodao had a very important spy in his hands. He could participate in the Supreme National Defense Conference chaired by Chiang Kai-shek. The person who commanded this spy was the pride of the imperial intelligence system, the flower of the empire - Nanzao Yunzi.

The sound of cannons in Hongkou became dense again, but it was not the sound of cannons from the Japanese army, but the Qiwu Mountain cannon and Sanqi War Defense Cannon of the Chinese team.

At the Huishan Wharf that he could not see, Shen Fazao commanded the newly strengthened 522nd Regiment to rush from the front to the iron gate of the wharf. The regiment commander Yi Anhua braved the dense rain of bullets shot from the opposite dock building and rushed to the iron gate, entering the shooting dead corner. Following him were his three guards and five soldiers from the regiment guard company.

Yi Anhua slammed the iron door with his shoulder, but the iron door did not move at all. It was obvious that the iron door had been thickened, and maybe there was a pile of sandbags behind him, which pressed the iron door tightly.

"Captain, what should I do?" Guardian A asked loudly.
