Section 18 Bloody Battle of Huizhou (2)

At the west gate, Qian Dajun brigade of the First Division was concentrated at the North Gate, with Liu Yaochen of the Second Regiment as the vanguard, Hu Zongnan's third regiment followed, and the first regiment was the reserve team; field artillery concentrated on attacking the North Gate, and mountain artillery concentrated on attacking the South Gate.

At nine o'clock in the morning, Chiang Kai-shek ordered artillery fire at Fei'eling. The artillery battalion commander Chen Cheng then fired the first shell with his own hands. The group of artillery composed of more than a dozen field artillery guns began to bombard the north gate violently. From Fei'eling, smoke filled the sky above the north gate. The city gate tower was defeated in the second round of artillery attacks. Chiang Kai-shek couldn't help but shout: "Okay, Chen Cheng did a good job." These artillery were transported from the Soviet Union after Shaji. Not long after the troops were equipped, most of the soldiers of the artillery battalion were newly enlisted soldiers. It was already very satisfying that Chiang Kai-shek was able to achieve this result.

There were gravels flying on the city wall, and from time to time, Chen soldiers were thrown into the air by strong shock waves, and several fragmented gaps appeared at the top of the city wall; soon there were sporadic artillery shells in Huizhou City, and the artillery bombardment of the Eastern Expedition Army began to extend into the city, bombarding Yang Kunru's headquarters, suspected artillery positions.

It was obvious that the enemy made a mistake. They exposed their weak firepower too early. Under the attack of powerful artillery fire in the Eastern Expedition Army, the shells flying out of the city gradually disappeared.

Huizhou had never experienced such a violent shelling. Yang Kunru's face was pale when he heard the explosions in the city. He felt that he underestimated the power of the Eastern Expedition Army. A shell exploded very close to the temporary command center, causing the command doors and windows to clatter, as if the whole room was about to collapse. Dust kept falling from the roof, making the room look gray.

"Where do you think their landlord attack is the direction?" Yang Kunru suddenly asked Mo Xiong.

"North Gate." Mo Xiong said without hesitation that he escaped by chance in Chiang Kai-shek's detainment of Xu Chongzhi and surrounded the Guangdong army, and then led a small number of troops to escape into Huizhou. He hated Chiang Kai-shek, a rebellious boy, even more hated than Yang Kunru.

Yang Kunru nodded, and his judgment was the same: "Hmph, I just wanted to open Huizhou. That bone-bone boy was a delusion." After saying that, Yang Kunru walked out, and Mo Xiong hurriedly called him: "Commander-in-chief, are you going there?"

"You are here to watch. I will go to the North Gate to supervise the battle."

"Commander-in-chief, don't be busy. You will rush to the city after shelling. Then go there later." Mo Xiong grabbed Yang Kunru. Although the two were divided into different camps before, the real situation tied them together. Both of them knew that they had to give up all prejudices to overcome the difficulties.

After destroying the enemy's artillery, the artillery fire of the Eastern Expedition Army concentrated at the North Gate, "boom" and "boom". A burst of explosions sounded near the North Gate, and then a burst of smoke rose up, covering the sky above the North Gate.

Chen Cheng's voice was already a little hoarse. The artillery soldiers around him were sweating and barely carrying the shells. Soon, half of the shells were piled up like a hill, and more shells were consumed. So he transported more shells from the rear. The barrel turned red, and Chen Cheng had to report to Chiang Kai-shek. Chiang Kai-shek ordered him to stop shooting and start the shelling again after the temperature of the barrel dropped.

When the artillery was suspended, the National Government Air Force flew to Huizhou. The National Government Air Force had a total of 14 aircraft, of which only seven or eight were available and only three bombers. The director of the Air Force Bureau of the National Government was an Soviet-Russian consultant, and former Chiang Kai-shek secretary Zhang Jingyu served as the director of the Political Department of the Air Force Bureau, and the pilots were all Soviet-Russian consultants.

The plane circled, dived, and dropped bombs in the sky. Chen Jun soldiers rarely saw the plane and suddenly became panicked. They fled from their positions, either to the city or to hide in the private houses. The officers shouted angrily to stop them, but the sound of explosions covered their voices. It happened that a bomb fell into a private house near the north gate. The private house collapsed in an instant, and then several bombs fell into the fleeing crowd, which further increased the chaos in the defenders.

At this moment, Yang Kunru arrived in time. He pulled out his pistol and fired a few shots into the sky, loudly commanding: "Don't run around, lie down on the spot." His guards also shouted with him, but the soldiers didn't pay any attention. Yang Kunru angrily grabbed a soldier who was indifferent to the road and roared: "Go back." The soldier looked like earth and pointed at the sky and said stammeringly: "Long... Sir, God... Bird... Laying eggs..." Yang Kunru was angry.

He shot him and killed him with a shot in the chest. Then Yang Kunru killed two soldiers running in front, and his guards robbed the deserters together. The soldiers were awakened by blood and gunfire and stood foolishly on the road, staring at the murderous Yang Kunru, Yang Kunru waved his pistol and shouted in murderously: "Go back, those who retreat will be killed without mercy. The machine gunner immediately picked up the machine gun and aimed at the soldiers who were still in a daze.

An officer in the crowd took the opportunity to shout, "Go back, brothers, you will have to go back a few broken planes. Brothers, don't be afraid, go back with me." After that, he turned around and walked back.

Yang Kunru also took the opportunity to offer a reward: "Kill the enemy and reward two dollars to the ocean, and the officers reward ten dollars to the ocean. Brothers, the opportunity to earn rewards has come."

Blood and Dayang once again mustered up the soldiers' courage to fight, and they turned around and ran back in a hurry.

After Yang Kun drove the soldiers back to the position like a duck, he rushed into the command center in charge of the North Gate. At the North Gate, he placed a reinforced battalion force, and the commander was Zhang Xiaoming.

"How is the situation?" Yang Kunru asked when he saw Captain Zhang.

"The city wall was partially damaged, and there were not much casualties." Zhang Xiaoming replied

This is the first time I have seen such a fierce artillery fire."

"Why, are you scared?" Yang Kunru asked coldly.

"I'm so scared that I'm worried that the soldiers can't stand it." Zhang Xiaoming looked indifferent, and then asked in confusion: "Why didn't they take the opportunity to attack just now?"

"What do you care about so many things? Organize a supervision team, and those who retreat without permission will be killed without mercy." Yang Kunru said coldly, then changed his tone and said, "Xiaoming, we can't afford to lose this battle. If we lose, we will never have a foothold in the future."

"I understand, commander-in-chief, I will organize a supervision team now." Zhang Xiaoming turned around and was about to go out, and Yang Kunru called him again: "Remember, please hide the machine gun position for me. Don't let others take it."

"Don't worry, that's a dead end for shelling."

In the afternoon, the shelling began again. Chiang Kai-shek was determined to use the cannon to open a gap. The fierce shelling finally knocked down a section of the city wall. Chiang Kai-shek was overjoyed and immediately ordered an attack.

The First Brigade was the main force of the first army, and the three full-member regiments lined up. The Second Regiment was also prepared early. The brigade commander Qian Dajun and the regiment commander Liu Yaochen. Party representative Jiang Xianyun were both in the Frontier Observatory, observing the opposite Huizhou while waiting for the order to attack.

When Liu Yaochen saw the collapse of Huizhou city walls, he couldn't help but be overjoyed: "Okay. Open it, open it." Qian Dajun had no expression at all, but just stared at the opposite side.

Liu Yaochen was so anxious that he rubbed his hands and kept pouting in his mouth: "Why didn't the principal give orders? Why didn't the orders still? When did he wait?"

"Captain Liu, don't worry, the time comes. The order will come naturally." Qian Dajun did not look back and still observed the opposite side through the telescope.

Before Qian Dajun's words could be finished, Chiang Kai-shek's order arrived. Liu Yaochen shouted yes and walked out. Qian Dajun called him sternly.

"Where are you going?"

"I will take the stormtrooper, brigade commander. You and Wushan stay here."

"Rareless," Qian Dajun got angry. He said to Liu Yaochen sternly: "You are the regiment commander, not the stormtrooper captain, your command position is here."

"Brig Commander!" Liu Yaochen shouted begging.

"Give an order." Qian Dajun ignored Liu Yaochen's request.

Twelve trumpeters lined up beside the trenches. In the deafening charge, the vanguard team of the Second Regiment City carried a big knife and a rifle in hand. They rushed towards Huizhou City under the leadership of the general captain Du Congrong; then followed by the first battalion; the second battalion attacked on the left wing, and the third battalion on the right; each battalion attacked in waves, forming several gray lines, rolling towards Huizhou from a distance.

Du Congrong rushed in the front, beside him were flag-holding soldiers holding the stormtrooper battle flag. They quickly rushed into a distance of 500 meters from the city wall. At this time, gunfire sounded loudly on the city wall, and the gray waves stopped a little, and then stubbornly rushed forward 2-300. He set up in the hidden place of the city tower and fired at a very strong position. In an instant, the stormtrooper fell down.

Du Congrong quickly lay on the ground, and the flag-holding soldiers who were following him were killed. He crawled over and grabbed the flag, took advantage of the slowdown of the enemy machine gun, jumped up suddenly, raised the flag and rushed forward.

"Catch Huizhou City and capture Yang Kunru alive, rush!" Tan Luming, deputy captain and party representative of the stormtrooper, waved his arms and yelled. The two captains led the way, and the gray line surged forward again.

"Catch Huizhou City and capture Yang Kunru alive." Shocked Huizhou.

The machine guns on the city were still firing wildly, and rows of soldiers fell down. The soldiers behind stepped on their companions' bodies and surged up again. Du Congrong was tilted and fell on the charge road. Tan Luming rushed to him and called his name loudly. Du Congrong opened his blood-red eyes, and shouted in a vague manner while bleeding from his mouth: "Come on, rush up. I can't die." Tan Luming nodded, grabbed the flag beside him, stood up and yelled: "Take down Huizhou City and capture Yang Kunru alive."

The flag continued to move forward again, and Tan Luming quickly rushed to the city wall. He leaned against the city wall and gasped. Then more soldiers rushed to the city wall. They hid under the city wall. From time to time, a grenade dropped at Tan Luming's feet. He quickly looked at his eyes and kicked it into the moat with one corner.

"Cloud ladder! Quick! Cloud ladder!" He shouted anxiously, and the soldiers around him followed suit and kicked the falling grenade into the moat.

Several team members carried a ladder across the moat and rushed to the corner of the wall. Tan Luming led people to run over, quickly set up the ladder, and then jumped up the ladder first. When he reached the top, he found that the ladder was still about half a meter shorter. He gritted his teeth and inserted his gun into his waist, reached out to grab the edge of the city wall, and jumped in. Before he could land, two bright bayonets dodged the first knife, and then used the flagpole to set a second knife. Just as he was pulling out the pistol at his waist, an enemy officer shot at him twice, and two blood flowers appeared in front of his chest, and then a sharp bayonet pierced fiercely into his body. Tan Luming turned around with his last force, pressing the lower end of the flagpole with his body, so that it could float obliquely on the wall of Huizhou North Gate.

The officer cursed, "Scared!" He stepped forward and pulled up the flag and threw it down the city of Huizhou. Tan Luming, deputy captain of the stormtrooper and representative of the Party, died in Huizhou. Du Congrong, a member of the stormtrooper's first-class graduate, was seriously injured in Huizhou.
