Chapter two hundred and ninety-ninth autonomy

Yamagata Ken's meaning is not difficult to understand. Although NAND memory was invented by Toshiba, it itself is a very widely distributed technology.

Although Toshiba has its original patent, it has not dominated this field. Of course, this is also a normal situation. If any technology in the world wants to be promoted in the market, it has never been closed and can achieve success with just one company. Even if Intel does not have many manufacturers to support its hardware system, it is impossible to promote its CPU. Or Apple cannot use one's own strength to independently improve all APPs.

The first real flash memory is NOR memory produced by Intel. The popular NAND memory is invented by Rili. Toshiba, Rili and Sony, the giant Japanese electronics industry, is itself a very extensive technology alliance. From the Blu-ray Alliance, it can be seen that these top giants in the electronics industry's food chain have too many resources that can be exchanged, and the network of relationships formed is much more stable than small and medium-sized enterprises like Fanhan Group.

As a giant in electronic entertainment industry across Japan and the United States, Sauni uses NAND memory in various products. He owns a part of the patents for NAND memory and a huge downstream application technology, and the market share is very stable.

These huge and stable demands have made Sauni own a NAND memory production line of more than a large scale. The USB disk chip sold by Fanhan Group also comes from NAND memory chips.

Yamagata pointed out this problem at this time, which was obviously threatening Zhou Shuo. If favorable conditions cannot be reached on USB disk patents, Sauni may sell NAND memory at a low price to impact the market. To them, increasing the shipment of NAND memory is also a good business. But for Fanhan Group, it is enough to turn the entire project into a crisis of accumulation.

Seeing Zhou Shuo's rare silence, Yamagata Ken smiled proudly and said, "Sauni has a small appetite. We have the largest production line of NAND memory in the Japanese market and the best manufacturer of USB drive products. If Fanhan Group can give up the Japanese market, we can provide you with a certain number of NAND memory chips at a low price. In this way, you can open the finished products for selling USB drives in China, the United States or Europe, instead of watching the blockbuster market like now, but you can't eat it because of production capacity issues."

In his opinion, this is a very cost-effective way of cooperation. Anyone with a discerning eye can see how big the U disk market is. In most parts of the world, there is currently no sign of U disk. Europe, the United States, even Southeast Asia, India, and South America...

The market potential contained in these countries and regions is not smaller than that of Japan. However, due to the limited production capacity issue, Fanhan Group could not take care of it for a while. Instead of letting these markets grow like weeds, it is better to quickly occupy the market with the strong production capacity of Sauni. Although the profits become thinner than those of the individual supply, the huge increase in quantity can completely compensate and even bring cash flow more than several times.

Ken Yamagata scolded Zhou Shuo in the tone of educating his juniors: "How is it? This is a rare opportunity. Things like producing chips can be left to us Japanese. In this regard, we have an incomparable advantage. You Chinese are still far from technology, so wouldn't it be better to be a dealer with peace of mind? If you use the current more advanced 0.35 micron technology, the capacity and yield rate of the USB flash drive can be greatly enhanced!"

Zhou Shuo pursed his lips, shook his head and said, "Minister of Shanxing, I want to ask for a question."

He corrected his sitting posture and looked at Ken Yamagata even more solemnly and said, "If the technology is not as good as humans, you should do trade with peace of mind. Why did Japan insist on developing its own national cars in the 1960s? Why did it work hard to popularize domestic TVs? In the end, why did Japan's electronics industry, including Sauni, also had to build its own computers at that time under the pressure of Americans?"

Even if there are tens of thousands of "prejudice" and contempt for the enemy, it has to be admitted that the Japanese in the Showa era were indeed a tenacious opponent. In the ruins after World War II, it took only twenty years to rebuild a strong Japan. In this process, especially Japan's industrial independence, it was the most difficult and magnificent. Among them, the "national car concept" and the rise of Japan's electronics industry formed the two pillars of Japan's post-war economy. But these two Japanese advantageous industries, as Zhou Shuo said, were able to survive at the beginning by relying on Japan's own trade protection strategy.

At the beginning of these two major industries, Japanese cars were praised by the Americans as "toys", while computers were even more suppressed by Intel. If we follow Ken Yamagata's theory, wouldn't these efforts become unnecessary struggles?

Ken Yamagata was quite angry at Zhou Shuo's words and said with a stare, "How can it be the same? We Japanese are different from you Chinese, and have a strong desire for autonomy. If we allow Europe and the United States to control our economic lifeline, how can we achieve what we are today?"

Zhou Shuo stretched out two fingers, pointed at his eyes, then pointed to Ken Yamagata's eyes, and then said, "Look, Mr. Yamagata. We all have eyes and mouths, and there is no difference. If Sao Ni cannot accept that the USB flash drive patent is held in the hands of others, then I think Fanhan Group cannot accept that its source of goods is controlled by others. Putting aside the country and nation, any capital itself has a strong desire to expand, and it will not be stronger because of the desire of Japanese companies, or Chinese companies do not have this demand."

Of course, Zhou Shuo wanted to criticize this old Japanese man with a spit on his face, but unfortunately, if it was twenty years later, this approach was certainly understandable. But in 1995, China had the third largest land area and the largest population in the world, but its GDP was not even comparable to Italy, let alone Japan, the world's second largest economy. It would be ruthless to say anyone, but without the strength of air defense, it would be shameless to be ridiculed.

For Zhou Shuo, it is better to speak with facts than to spend money on the old Japanese.

"So, Zhou Sang has no confidence in the cooperation with Sao Ni?" Yamagata Kenmae leaned over and looked at Zhou Shuo aggressively and said, "I still hope you can think carefully. Not everyone has this ability and refuses Sao Ni's sincerity. You must know that for us, USB is not the only choice."

Zhou Shuo of course knew that if Sao Ni became serious, there were too many ways to get him stuck outside the Japanese market. Not to mention the closedness of the Japanese market itself, the many cross-patent authorizations involved in NAND memory could give him the way to completely bypass the USB drive - for example, launching other hardware interfaces that support plug-and-play.

With Sauni's authoritative position in the computer hardware industry, it is not impossible for it to independently develop a data transmission interface. Not to mention that in this era, USB interfaces have not been widely used, and even many USB disks sold by Toshiba have to be matched with interfaces.

Sauni can completely design a storage device that transmits data through serial ports or parallel ports, or it can be even more crazy. It can even use network cards, even graphics cards or sound cards, or simply develop a motherboard plug-in card. In short, there are a long list of interfaces behind the computer case, and no one stipulates that NAND memory must transmit data through USB interface.

After all, this was 1995, not 1998, when USB interfaces were already very popular. With Sauni's influence, it is not surprising that any changes will be made in the closed market in Japan. As for Toshiba, in this regard, she would also be happy to see the emergence of similar products. If it weren't for the NAND memory patent of Panhan Group, Toshiba would not dare to be a product agent simply. Other products appeared, which would be more beneficial to its bargaining in cooperation.

Zhou Shuo glanced at Ken Yamagata lightly, sighed and shook his head, "For Minister Yamatsu, do you think the Storage Business Department is not such a core department within Sauni?"

"What do you mean?" Yamagata Ken corrected his sitting posture and said unnaturally: "The storage department has the largest production line of Sauni, which is a force that cannot be ignored in the enterprise."

Zhou Shuo sneered and looked at him with a picky look. If it were really as he said, Shinyuki Izumi would not have seized this opportunity and could not wait to start the operation of the storage department. The so-called largest production line is just to put gold on his face. For Sauni, its lifeblood should be portable digital products such as audio-visual multimedia, electronic games, etc. It is true that many of the products here cannot be separated from the support of the storage department, but at best it is just an old ox.

If the storage business department had not been a panacea, and in a Japanese company that had always been asking about, how could I dare to take risks with him and try to start internal reforms?

Zhou Shuo knocked on the handrail of the sofa, took out a document from the sofa cabinet next to him, and flipped out a patent report and handed it gently to Ken Yamagata.

"What is this?" Yamagata Ken took it from his hand in confusion. When he looked up, he saw that he read: Patents for portable audio and video digital playback products produced using FlashEEPROMMemory technology...

Zhou Shuo smiled and said, "A technology that can upgrade the storage business department to the core department of Sauni. Compared with the long name on the patent, I would rather call it MP3."
