Chapter 641 The plight of Grumman

Grumman's company secretly sold parts of Tomcat fighter jets to Iran. This incident was very secretive. I thought this incident would be kept in dust, but unexpectedly, under some intriguing directors, the story finally broke out, causing huge turmoil in the US empire.

The last president Reagan and Weinberg were not spared, and were questioned by the Senate. The public opinion media and the Senate firmly believed that it was these guys' fault that caused such a terrible and embarrassing situation today: there has never been a great American country like Iran, selling arms to it, and then being bitten by the country's backhand. You should know that the hostage crisis in 1979 directly led to the resignation of the Carter administration, and some people dared to take the blame to send weapons to this evil country. This is a huge blasphemy for the American Imperial spirit! Under the strong pressure of Washington, the Senate and the public opinion media, Grumman and its "Tomcat" fighter jets quickly became tragic victims.

In March 1992, President Bush of the United States signed an order, and Secretary of Defense Cheney ordered the destruction of all the production lines and templates of the Tomcat fighter jets. In the past, a certain type of fighter jet was retired, but now it is completely destroyed. The reason is that the Iranians cannot obtain the production technology and components of the Tomcat fighter jets from the United States! Although before this, the United States had already sold the maintenance lines and related equipment of the Tomcat fighter jets to Pakistan, especially the production lines of the F110 turbofan engine, the U.S. bureaucrats

They and the Bricks insist that even if Pakistan joins China, it will be difficult for them to truly develop the Tomcat fighter jet in reverse. Even if Pakistan and China’s copycat “Tomcat” prototypes have appeared many times and flew into the sky, they still wishfully believe that without the help of their technicians and engineers, Pakistan’s maintenance lines and equipment will not be effectively maintained and upgraded. At that time, whether it is the copycats or the original “Tomcats” fleet will automatically become a pile of “scrap aluminum” like the Tomcat fighter jets sold to Iran earlier.

This is a strategy to kill birds with one stone, especially now that Pakistan's air force is so strong. The meaning of targeting Pakistan is also very obvious, which makes Pakistan's Tomcat fleet unable to obtain effective support for subsequent purposes, so that they can retire this powerful fighter as soon as possible!

The U.S. Navy suffered even more unpredictable disasters. The Senate and the Pentagon forced the Navy to retire all F-14s within 3 to 5 years, and replaced it with Boeing's f/a-18e/f "Super Hornet" fighter jets. The reason was that the Great Americans could not be equipped with the same weapons and equipment as several potential enemy countries at the same time. Although this reason was too far-fetched, Iran also equipped 79 F14s back then, and the U.S. Navy's f-14s back then did not make it because of this reason.

It has been retired. Boeing's off-hospital lobby group is indeed extremely powerful. For example, f/a-18e/f is an upgraded version of f/a-18c/d, which is very advanced. It can replace f14 and a6 to achieve universalization of carrier-based aircraft combat functions to save a lot of military expenditure. This is attractive enough for those members who have always wanted to find excuses to cut off military expenditure and switch to it. Of course, Boeing has spent a lot of public relations expenses on the off-hospital lobby group for this.

Faced with the huge disadvantage of the enemy in the Senate, although the US Navy argued that many front-line pilots. Many people tried to fly f14 and f/a-18e/f at the same time, and the comparison of the specific performance of the two would be more intuitive. They all believed that the comprehensive performance of f/a-18e/f is simply not as good as f-14, and its range and payload efficiency ratio is only 32% of that of Tomcat. Even if you dig deep into the potential in later improvements, you can only barely increase this proportion to about 50%. After all, the foundation of the medium-sized aircraft cannot be compared with the heavy aircraft. Instead of equiping a brand new fighter, it is better to fully upgrade the original f14d "Super Cat" to form a technical generation advantage over those exported "Tomcat" fighters earlier.

However, this view was obviously not accepted by the Senate and the Pentagon. The Tomcat fighter jets were eventually forced to retire in the spring of 1996. Its retirement was not due to limited funding, but because of the huge storm caused by Grumman's suspected illegal sale of Tomcat fighter parts to Iran, the joint surveying and mapping of Pakistan and China for Tomcat fighter jets, the crazy lobbying of Boeing's behind-the-scenes interest groups, and the short-sighted bureaucrats. In short, the US Senate refused to give the F-14 improvement fee, and they were also unwilling to give Grumman a quantity of money.

As the two projects of Natf "Naval Advanced Fourth Generation Heavy Carrier-based Fighter" (equivalent to the swept-wing carrier-based type of the F-22, used to replace the F14 fighter) and Atf "Naval Advanced Fourth Generation Carrier-based Attack Plane" (equivalent to the small carrier-based B2. used to replace the A6 attack plane) built by the US Imperial Navy, the two projects are allocated even a cent. The reason is that the Mao Bear Empire is about to collapse, and the US Imperial Navy can use the existing F/A-18e/F "Bumblebee" to be competent for all current tasks! Therefore, everything becomes a last resort.

Finally, except for a few of the "Tomcats" fighters in the United States were sent to the Aviation Museum. The rest were not even placed in the aircraft cemetery in the Arizona desert. They were all broken down by laser cutting machines into fragments with an average of less than 5 square meters, and then buried in the desert (just like the reason for destroying the production line, Iranians or Pakistani people cannot obtain parts of the "Tomcats" fighter from the United States). The Tomcats were made by countless people with countless days and nights.

The high-tech machine worth tens of millions of dollars was now broken down by a cutting machine like a simple wooden board. At that moment, many people were heartbroken! They cried bitterly, including the naval pilots who drove it, the naval aircraft crew who maintained it, the workers who made it, the engineers who designed it and finally "cared for and nurture" it like children, the father-in-law of scientist Mhamad, and the executive president of Grumman Company, Pierre, saw this scene and suffered a stroke and heart disease.

Although, afterwards, the U.S. Imperial government and military handed over the order of the Air Force's new generation bomber to Grumman's B2 "Ghost" stealth bomber as compensation. But Tomcat fighter jets have become history in the U.S. Imperial, and the two projects tailor-made for the U.S. Imperial Navy, which were highly anticipated, were forcibly terminated. Grumman, which suffered heavy losses, almost completely withdrew from the U.S. naval carrier-based aircraft market. A large number of outstanding engineers and technicians engaged in Tomcat fighter jet improvement and production were forced to accept the company's profit decline. The major layoffs caused by the recession were severely damaged.

Now, Grumman is immersed in the haze of the Tomcat fighter jet being withdrawn from the US Navy carrier-based aircraft market. From far South Asia, a favorable news came. Pakistani President Mhamad heard that his father-in-law was ill in bed because of the Tomcat fighter jet, and sent his wife to comfort his father-in-law who was ill in bed. At the same time, when the Gulf War broke out, Pakistan's cooperation allowed the United States to provide Pakistan with a large amount of military aid. In order to help his father-in-law, Mhamad immediately used the military aid to purchase Ge

Ruman's forty F14Ds are each worth $38 million. In fact, the United States also has the mentality of dealing with waste products. Otherwise, at the price of the 1990s, the price of a F14D is at least $50 million! This is not counting the cost of spare parts and ammunition. Now, the US Navy will no longer continue to equip Tomcat fighter jets and will be retired. The US Navy did not accept the last forty F-14Ds that Grumman had left the factory. Mhamad's procurement has saved a huge loss.

As the son-in-law of Pierre, the executive president of Grumman Company, Mhamad of Pakistan, indeed pulled Grumman Company at a critical moment! Forty F14D "Super Cat" fighter jets, each with US$38 million, plus supporting parts and weapons, a total of US$2 billion of military purchase orders made Grumman Company clear the haze of the "Iran gate", and the company's stocks also showed an upward trend in the stock market.

Although the fire control radar configuration of this batch of exported Super Cats is in accordance with the consistent export policy of the United States. The original an/apg-71 radar was replaced with a slightly backward an/awg-9 radar and blocked some ground attack synthetic aperture functions, the f110-ge-400 turbofan engine was retained, and the Tomcat fighter is still the world's first-class fighter. Everyone is very satisfied with the contract, but neither party expected that the situation would change drastically many years later. Now, Mhamad's wife, Lilith, came to Grumman in person.

"Father, please rest with peace of mind." Lilith first visited the old Pierre on the hospital bed. For the past decade, Lilith has been in Afghanistan and Pakistan and rarely returns to China, but her feelings for her father have not changed.

The old Pierre on the hospital bed had already improved a lot. Facing his daughter, Pierre sighed: "Lilis, it's thanks to Mhamad this time. If Pakistan hadn't received all the newly-built fighter jets from our company, our company would have really not been able to overcome this difficulty."

Thinking of the Grumman company several times, it was Pakistan who helped digest the inventory in the end. Pierre was also very grateful to his daughter. He married a good husband and had a good son-in-law.

"Father, you must be at ease to recuperate. The body is the most important thing." Lilith said next to him. (To be continued.)
