The two Chinese ships in Shanghai-class use the lm2500 gas turbines imported from the United States, which is an excellent warship power. Most American warships use this power system. However, the honeymoon period between China and the West has ended. The West will no longer hand over this excellent power system to China.

For the navy, equipment plays a major role, and the power system in the equipment of warships is also a big problem.

Almost from the armored warships, the power of the warships was the steam engine. Later, it became a steam turbine, which improved the thermal efficiency and promoted the huge warships, which could reach a speed of about thirty knots. Until now, the large-class warships in China, and even modern-class destroyers of the Soviets, all used steam turbines.

The power is reliable, durable, and the equipment and usage costs are very low. These are its advantages, but its disadvantage is that it is slow! Before using it, you must first burn the boiler and add enough water pressure before it can be started.

In contrast, gas turbines are very fast. No matter when they are started, they can operate at full power almost immediately, with good acceleration performance and high power density. Historically, after the British built gas turbines, they decided that their warships would all use this power system.

China has limited technical capabilities. The two Shanghai-class ships used lm2500 gas turbines imported from the United States. In history, the Shenzhen ship No. 167, which was later built, was replaced by steam turbines, which also led to the 167 ship being retired in a hurry after more than ten years of service. It was dismantled on the ship platform, leaving almost a shell left.

"I have a suggestion," said Mhamad. "You can transform marine gas turbines based on the Spbe engine. We in Pakistan also have the need for marine power. If the transformation can be successful, our subsequent warships can also use this engine."

Change! Almost all gas turbines are transformed from aircraft engines. For example, the famous LM2500 was improved based on the TF39 engine used by the C5 transport aircraft. The main British "Olympus" ship gas turbine was originally developed as a turbojet engine of the "Vulcan" strategic bomber, and then it was improved and finally glorious.

Huaxia once developed marine gas turbines. At that time, it introduced the Soviet-made Tu-16 bomber and made it into the H-6. It also copied the engine used in Figure 16, named the Turbojet 8 engine. The air flow and maximum thrust of this engine are comparable to the "Olympus" turbojet engine, but the thrust-weight ratio is low and the fuel consumption is high. Chinese scientists have made more than 80 modifications and designs on this engine to adapt to the harsh environment where ships operate at sea.

The power turbines, accessories and systems used to output power were also redesigned according to the ship's use environment. In 1974, the "Turbine Jet 8-modified" ship gas turbine completed the durability test and was ready to enter the equipment production stage. As a result, the British came in and recommended their "Olympus" ship gas turbine to China, which made the turbine Jet 8-modified marine gas turbine yellow. The British "Olympus" did not open the market and was first launched by the US lm2500 gas turbine.

This history is painful. In short, China still does not have a suitable marine gas turbine. After the Western world led by the United States imposes sanctions on China, China finds that it does not have a suitable gas turbine to use.

However, unlike history, with the intervention of Mhamad, the SB engine was finally successfully imitated by China and began to be officially equipped, becoming the key engine of China.

At the same time, Mhamad also knew that it was possible to improve the SBE engine into a marine gas turbine, because the British were already doing this!

The British Spey 1 gas turbine, which is the model directly improved from Spey, has a maximum power of 13,824 kilowatts and a fuel consumption rate of 35 per kilowatt-hour. The improved C type has been increased to 17,750 kilowatts and a fuel consumption rate of 30. The American lm2500 gas turbine, the initial model of the power was 18,755 kilowatts, which has reached almost the same power as the American lm2500 gas turbine.

In later generations, the islanders were very satisfied with this gas turbine and used it on their own high-wave destroyers.

Now, China has mastered the complete set of SBE's technology, and based on SBE's, it has developed a TF41 engine with a larger power. Moreover, it is still studying further thrust models of this engine, and the thrust can be further expanded. Therefore, if this engine is improved into a gas turbine, it should achieve the same power as the British gas turbine, or even higher. Switching to a new compressor and increasing temperature measures is expected to reach more than 20,000 kilowatts. The American lm2500 gas turbine was eventually expanded twice through continuous improvement.

For such marine gas turbines, two are enough to drive 4,000-ton destroyers, and four can drive destroyers above 7,000-ton destroyers, which can fully meet the requirements of new destroyers. In Mhamad's plan, the displacement of Pakistan's Shield of Friendship Battleship is about 8,000 tons.

Transform SB! After SB successfully improved it into a ship-based power, we can learn from experience and improve the more advanced f110 engines produced by Pakistan now become marine power. If the f110 engine is successfully modified, four cruisers are enough to drive more than 10,000 tons.

Of course, these are all future plans, and the main plan now is to improve SB!

Hearing Mhamad's proposal, General Zhang, the naval commander, looked at Mhamad with great admiration and said, "President Mhamad, your proposal is very good. We can consider establishing a project and develop a qualified gas turbine as soon as possible."

Through this US sanction and the end of the honeymoon period in the West, China finally learned a lesson that it must rely on itself! The West is unreliable!

"After the heart of our big drive was solved, the main air defense system had also been solved. Our new destroyer can be successfully manufactured and quickly formed combat power, which can escort our future aircraft carrier formation." General Zhang said.

Aircraft carrier formation! China has a long maritime rights and interests to protect, so it naturally requires an aircraft carrier formation. It is just that because the country's financial resources are limited, it is impossible to start construction for the time being, but related arguments have been underway.

In the past, the air defense performance of domestic destroyers was limited. Even if an aircraft carrier was built, there were no air defense destroyers to escort them. Now, with the solution of the air defense problem, there are finally escort ships for aircraft carriers.
