Chapter 74 Interview

This is a small room that only takes about ten steps from the door to the opposite wall. The window facing the door is blocked by thick curtains, making the room look a little dim.

There are simple desks and chairs by the wall, and a plaid sofa for visitors in the center. There are almost no decorations in the room, and lonely leaf-viewing plants are placed in the corner. The door leading to the inner room has a crack, and you can see the desk inside and the bookshelf of academic books and folders placed.

"So, Cruise François has formally entrusted you to investigate the warehouse street robbery?" A middle-aged man's slightly tired voice came from the room inside. "You are still as strange as ever, and you can always take on some jobs that ordinary mercenaries cannot get."

The person who spoke was the owner of this room, Grosted, the second-class guard of the guards. He had not received a normal rest in the past few days, and his face was as bad as Curt saw him that day - the only thing better was that his dark circles subsided slightly.

Cott, sitting opposite him, spread his hands slightly exaggeratedly: "Who knows what he thought? At least that's what he told me, and this morning officially made an entrustment to the management office. To be honest, this 'Twelve Directions' is really as unpredictable as his ban."

Last night, Cruz François began to speak to Curt after Aurodin provided the image. He asked Curt to investigate the true identities of the men in black who committed the warehouse street robbery and report their organization to him.

Although this was a private commission from Cruise François, in order to show his sincerity, he said that the college would provide technical support for Curt's investigation. At the same time, he would contact all departments related to the investigation to allow them to provide convenience to Curt to a certain extent.

So when Curt came to the Mercenary Management Office to report early in the morning, his elder sister threw Cruise François's power of attorney to him with a puzzled expression of "What did you do?", and made him feel that Grosted's office explained the situation of the commission to him.

"I have also seen the projection you mentioned, but I really can't figure out how Cruise François would be interested in a robbery." Grosted, sitting upright, looked at Curt thoughtfully, "Although the college is willing to work hard, it will definitely be helpful to our investigation."

Aurodin's projection has been recorded as evidence to be submitted to Grosted in the enclosed image plate, but he did not know the existence of the organization "Engine's Eye". He just felt that a group of spells who might be pagan organizations robbed items in the warehouse for some purpose.

"Look, there are so many magicians among the criminals who robbed the warehouse. Even he can't sit idly by. I think the situation is probably the same as what he said. We can't let those magicians who can release high-destructive spells such as "explosive fireballs" do whatever they want."

Curt waved casually and changed the subject with haha.

It was not that he wanted to keep Grosted secret, but Cruise François had clearly stated that "it is prohibited to tell Grosted about the 'Embroidered Purpose'". This was the employer's commission. Based on professional ethics, it was indeed inconvenient for Curt to tell Grosted some of the information.

From the written notice provided by François to the guards, he claimed that as the administrator of the Katris magician, he had the responsibility to investigate this illegal magician group of unknown origin. However, for many reasons, this work could only be entrusted to Curt and allowed him to perform it on his behalf.

Grosted breath, and said exhausted: "Although from the perspective of a security officer, it is against the regulations to let people who should be civilian groups participate in the investigation like this... But personally, I still thank you for helping you at this time."

Now I was so busy that I even had to borrow the cat's hand, Grosted murmured like a complaint.

During this period, every time Curt saw Grosted, he seemed quite tired, and obviously had not received enough rest for a while. Just what Curt knew, there were three incidents he was responsible for investigating, and it seemed that there were many other incidents piled up on him.

Cruise François said that the deterioration of public security in recent months is not a simple "small problem". Even Grosted, who is mainly responsible for major events, does not have enough time to rest. It is conceivable how much work pressure other departments are now.

In the past, Curt had never heard of Cartris's security team facing insufficient staff. Now that they are facing such a situation, it is likely that someone is deliberately putting pressure on the security team. These people are planning to be a warehouse of spells and tools.

"Hey, don't say it's like I'm going to steal your job. The commission I received from Cruise François was just to investigate the identities of those people. As for arresting them or something else, it depends on you to execute them. To put it nicely, it's okay to assist in the search."

This is not the first time anyway.

The security issues that the security forces are usually taken over by them, and civil groups are prohibited from being involved. But once there is a situation that only they cannot solve, they will ask various "civil groups" that originally prohibited them from being involved in these incidents to assist in the search.

But for some reason, most security officers were not willing to let "civil groups" assist in the search. When they formally submitted a commission, the incident was almost uncontrollable.

Grosted was already relatively open-minded on this issue. What he valued was not the merits and rewards he received after a certain incident was resolved, but how to resolve the incident faster. Therefore, without considering the position of the group he belonged to, Curt was still willing to help him.

"Wow, if I had officially issued the request for 'assisted search', I might have died of overwork." Grosted said angrily, "The same was true for the monster last time. If it weren't for the person who 'assisted investigation', I wouldn't know how much trouble would happen. And the investigation of these samples, I really have to thank your friend... I have only had this little time to even prepare the toxic neutralizer."

He pointed to the box brought by Curt, and he had seen the things inside before. Except for the color and smell of the antidotes that were a bit uncommon, the result was quite good. He once again felt that Curt, the "mercenary", was a bit incredible.

"I'm upset, Grosted second-class official."

Grosted seemed to want to say something, but the door of the room was suddenly opened. A man in the uniform of a lower-level security officer walked in and said, "Among second-class official, please go to the second-floor conference room immediately to gather. There is progress in the case on Mount Mistony Road!"

The Mistony Mountain Road is a road that passes through nearby mountains and leads to the southern harbour. However, Curt has not heard of any incidents there recently. Now it seems that the guards have suppressed the news, and Grosted is also one of the people in charge of this matter.

Sure enough, after hearing what the lower-level guard said, Grosted stood up from his seat: "Is there any progress? I'll go there now."

"I'm so sorry, Leinster, I have something urgent to deal with now." Then he looked at Curt and said a little sorry, "I will say to my teammates in charge of that matter. You can go to the scene of the robbery tomorrow at the latest."

"It's okay, go to work, and I won't bother you anymore. If there is any progress in my investigation here, I will notify you." Curt stood up and said goodbye to Grosted, "In addition, if there are clues provided by the company where the warehouse belongs, please remember to tell me."

Today, the purpose of visiting Grosted to the headquarters of the security forces has been achieved, and he did not have to stay in this building that was easily suspected of being in doubt. After saying a simple goodbye to Grosted, Curt left the building where the headquarters of the security forces are located.

Opposite the Guard Building is a street park, like strawberries dotted in the middle of a cake. The small green park is embedded in a square. Although the sparrows are small and all kinds of organs, there are simple flower beds and amusement instruments in the small park. The comfortable paths crisscross the park.

After Curt walked out of the Guard Building, he went north from the direction where he could see the towering buildings in the distance, crossed the palm-sized park, and headed towards the central square where the Mercenary Management Office was. The weather was good today, but there were not many people in the small park.

Today is not a day off, and it is normal for no tourists in the park. The sound of the engine of the driver and the excessively violent sunlight on the road make people feel subtle and uncomfortable. With a loose pace, Curt walked on the park path while organizing the information in his hands in his mind.

After leaving the street park, it was a straight road, but Curt walked into the path next to it without hesitation. There were many roads from the guard building to the central square, but Curt chose to walk around the alley that seemed like a maze for half a day.

He prefers quiet paths than avenues filled with smoke and noise caused by vehicles.

Suddenly, a woman shouted out loud from the alley leading to a more hidden place: "So what do you want? This money should be enough!"

The voice of his speech seemed familiar, and the woman who spoke should be the one she knew. After a moment of standing firm and thinking, Curt's progress turned into the alley leading to the source of the sound.

Some problems seemed to be unable to be changed even when they died, so he laughed at himself while walking.
