Chapter 38 Follow-up Processing

The sirens sounded from far to near, and the road leading to Catris became noisy. Looking up, the streaming light composed of long car lights in the distance gradually approached with the harsh sound. Soon, a number of small police vehicles painted in black, white and blue were already parked next to the wreckage of regular cars.

Curt put his hands in his purse, staring at the protectors of these laws lazily, muttering mockingly: "That's true, these guys are always half a beat slower."

One after another, the police cars were connected to each other, and a small obstacle was temporarily surrounded. Several men in pure black police uniforms walked out of the car. They looked at Curt seriously and surrounded it in a semicircular shape. These people were holding small mechanic guns in their hands, and the cut-off had been lifted. If Curt had any abnormal movements while they were operating, they would inevitably be fired by their guns.

Curt had no intention of being an enemy of them, but just stood there and slowly raised his hand to signal to the guards that he was unarmed and had no malice.

"Oh my God...this taste..."

After a while, a tall man in a suit jacket walked out of the guard officer wearing a uniform uniform. He probably hadn't undergone much physical training on weekdays and looked a little bloated. He was about thirty years old, with a pale face and fierce eyes.

He stared at Curt with his hands raised and shouted at Curt in a high-pressure tone: "Who are you? What does it have to do with what's going on here?"

His body was not strong, and the decoration on his body was not elegant. Ironically, his bloated figure gave him the impression of being dull. Despite this, he still exuded an arrogant aura, which made people wonder where his strange arrogance came from.

"Sorry, I refuse to answer your question. If I remember correctly, according to the provisions of the Police Code, if the security officer asks any relevant personnel for information when performing security tasks, he should first report to his department and identity, right? Mr. Police Officer?"

Faced with the arrogant questioning of the security officer, Curt asked slowly.

"You boy..."

Stimulated by Curt's remarks, the guard's forehead was filled with veins. Faced with his explicit anger, Curt ignored him and faced him calmly.

"Mr. Leinster!"

Just as the atmosphere at the scene was so tense that it was about to break out, Curt was suddenly stopped.

A middle-aged man without police uniforms turned out from the densely arranged group of guards. The dark gray suit on his body was already a little old, with only a few remaining hairs left on his bald head, and his whole body was shrouded in an atmosphere of premature aging.

"Grosted Guardian Grosted, I haven't seen him for a long time."

Curt knew this old police officer who was obviously an old police officer. They had been acting together for some things a few months ago. So he immediately smiled and greeted him as if the tense atmosphere had nothing to do with him.

"Sir, do you know this kid?"

The arrogant security officer in front of him seemed to be Grosted's subordinate, and he also restrained his arrogant attitude when he spoke.

"He is Curt Ryanster, an iron-level mercenary under the Mercenary Management Office." Faced with the questions raised by his subordinates, Grosted nodded in response, "Banks, don't look young, he is actually very strong. He has helped the security team deal with many problems before."

The security officer named Banks looked down on Curt's identity and said sarcastically: "Hmph, I thought it was amazing, but it was just a mere mercenary."

"Ahem!" As if to remind this subordinate to pay attention to his words and deeds, Grosted clearly cleared his throat, and then pulled Curt to the side, "Sorry, Leinster, I didn't expect to meet you here. Can you tell me what happened here?"

"Sir, I'll go and see the scene!"

Banks seemed not very satisfied with Grosted's attitude towards Curt, the mercenary. He frowned and turned around and walked towards the wreckage of the regular car. Several guards had been investigating the situation before. They saw Banks coming over and all stood attentively and saluted him.

"What happened?" Curt looked at Grosted, "Have you met the driver of this regular car before? He should tell you what happened."

Grosted looked puzzled, pointing at a police vehicle: "We did meet the driver halfway through. Now we have protected him. The problem is not that he did not tell us the specific situation, but that he seemed to be overly frightened, and the information he provided was fragmented and difficult to confirm."

"I see……"

Curt looked in the direction Grosted, the nervous driver was now hiding in the car of one of the police cars. His face was now quite bad, and he was shivering from time to time in the deep seat and trembling with his head in his arms, obviously looking in a state of terror.

This look does not look like it can provide reliable information.

"How should I say it..." Curt organized a while to classify what can be said and what can't be said before responding to Grosted's question. "Do you still remember the big sister's report that we found unknown monsters in the waste mine some time ago?"

"I know this, but I had other incidents to deal with at that time. The report was finally submitted to the guys in the second department. If I remember correctly, the conclusion they came up after the investigation was that 'because there was no reliable evidence, so I wait and see for the time being' right?"

While flipping through the record manual, Grosted recalled that according to what he said, he was busy with theft of an artist's collection, and the task of investigating security issues around the territory was directly handed over to the Second Division of the Guards responsible for patrol guards.

"I know they had some holidays with you before, but this investigation is about the safety and stability of Katris after all. Official affairs are business, and personal grudges are personal grudges. I don't think they will deliberately neglect to retaliate against past grudges when such important tasks are underway."

The Katris Guard has several departments under the Katris Guard, and the scope of tasks is different, and the course of action is naturally impossible to be a solid one. The first department managed by Grosted is mainly responsible for handling criminal cases. This report was "the discovery of the body", so he would come as soon as possible.

"I know, one of the most important qualities in your business is to distinguish between public and private." Curt curled his lips indifferently, and said nothing more. "It's just that some of the things that just appeared look too familiar. I suspect it is related to the 'unidentified monster' that appeared in our previous report."

Grosted blinking in confusion: "Is it related to the 'unidentified monster' that appeared in the waste mine pit? What did you find?"

"Actually nothing..."

Curt said, shrugging, and then began to introduce Grosted to the face of the culprit who destroyed the regular car into this miserable appearance. From the initial constituent rock spiders and the monster I encountered before, the weird appearance and abnormal movement ability.

"My God, what are you doing?"

Listening to Curt's statement, Grosted's expression became more and more bitter. When Curt explained the general content clearly, his brows were almost frowning.

He held his forehead and hung his head tiredly: "According to your opinion, the two are related. There is now a malicious individual or group near Katris. They not only created a 'war machine' with monster appearance, but also produced chimeras that can almost disintegrate the regular vehicle protective armor with just a few attacks? This is not the extent that the guards can manage."

After saying that, he sighed unhappily.

"If you're right, what we're facing now is almost annoying to mobilize the army to deal with it."

Curt shook his head without any interest. He did not intend to tell Grosted deeper content - as a mercenary, he had a lot of knowledge that he should not know: "It's not so exaggerated, after all, these are just my guesses. At present, I have not mastered enough evidence to prove the authenticity of this inference."

"It would be great if it was really just 'possible'... Anyway, thank you for the information you provided, I will let them pay attention to it at work."

Grosted replied to Curt's words as if he had used all his strength. The information he provided made everything happen here no longer limited to a single event. Events involving a large number of events occurred one after another in a short period of time, which was a situation where they had to be alerted.

"What will be done next? At least we need to be more alert." Curt pointed to the almost disintegrated wreckage of the regular car and the scratches left on the ground when the monsters evacuated. "There are high walls guarding the academy and the city, which is probably safer. But the surrounding villages and farms are very dangerous."

"We will strengthen the police force in these weak areas in the short term, and organize people to start searching for the monster you mentioned." He had thick dark circles around his eyes, obviously he had not been able to rest well during this period. The incident made him even more tired. "You know, that ghost thing can easily remove the regular car armor, and it may be insufficient by our strength alone."

"If necessary, I will submit an application to the top, so that the Mercenary Management Office and the talent dispatch agency will be responsible for our operations together," he said. "Today, you should go back and take a break early, and you may not have any chance to sleep for you."
