Chapter 949

As soon as everyone climbed the island, they heard shouts and fighting in the distance. So Zhang Fan and others led the pirates to a high ground to check the situation. They saw that there were more than a thousand indigenous people fighting in the plain at the foot of the mountain! Some indigenous people caught by their opponents were slaughtered in terrible ways. Those indigenous people who slaughtered their opponents actually ate these prisoners before the war was over!

Even the Maori people from New Zealand and Tahiti were frightened. Although they had eaten the enemy's meat, they couldn't make such an impatient way of eating it. At least they had to barbecue. Could it be that they were all hungry?!

Zhang Fan and Shu Yao watched for a long time and found that one of the indigenous people was at a disadvantage. According to past experience, helping the indigenous people who fell into the disadvantage to defeat their opponents will gain more respect from them. Therefore, Zhang Fan and Wang Cuiqiao discussed it for a while, and then led the Chinese pirates and Maori people to rush down, attacking the indigenous tribe that had already gained the upper hand from behind!

Zhang Fan Shu Yao and Xuanyuan Xing rode Willis to the front. Willis was the most excited when he encountered such a sneak attack. The engine roared and four wheels rolled down the hillside. While charging, he raised the cannon and fired lightning bombs, creating chaos in the center of the battlefield. Willis was the best at dealing with these natives!

Of course, there was no suspense. The original advantage was immediately turned over by the opponent due to the joining of a group of new forces! But strangely, the winner did not chase and fight, and drove all the absolute hands. He just howled and chased for hundreds of meters, then stopped the troops. Then he began to slaughter the prisoners! His cruelty made Zhang Fan dumbfounded.

After communication, Zhang Fan found that the indigenous people here were also Maori people. Because Maori from Tahiti Island could have a normal conversation with them. Why do the same race behave so differently is puzzling. But after communication, I found out that there were more than 2,000 Maori people concentrated on the island and divided into five tribes. Due to food shortages in recent years, in order to solve the food crisis, they will come to the last time almost every three months, otherwise everyone will starve to death.

But since this island cannot afford to support so many people, why didn't Maori migrate? The local natives said helplessly that it was because everyone was carving a huge half-body stone statue called "Mo Ai", which is the famous Easter Island stone statue! Because carving and transporting these stone statues requires large trees, all the trees on the island were cut down, and there were no trees for shipbuilding, so they could not migrate. They could only squeeze on this almost deserted volcanic island to wait for death.

The locals themselves cannot explain why everyone wants to create such huge stone statues. They just say that the stone statues of their own tribe must surpass other tribes, otherwise they will lose to others and are not good to their tribe. For example, the tribes on the side of the victory this time have the right to overturn the carved stone statues on the lost side from the altar on the beach. Especially the stone statues of tribe leaders and priests with red volcanic rock hats must be overturned!

Zhang Fan Shu Yao smiled helplessly. This was clearly the original comparison mentality. It turned out that the reason for the mysterious Easter Island stone statue was so simple. Perhaps it was the first to create the show-off behavior of the stone statue tribe, which led to the subsequent comparison and construction of the leaders of various tribes. In just a few hundred years, this small island was covered with thousands of huge stone statues.

The Maori people on Easter Island spent all their energy on building stone statues, and they abandoned farming and breeding, and even couldn't even build large wooden boats that went out to sea to fish. This is a ridiculous result. But aren't humans in the real world was wasting their experiences in unnecessary places, showing off their vanity, pursuing military force, wasting energy, destroying forests and trees, destroying nature, and forgetting the root of sustainable development?

When Willis heard that he could destroy his opponent's stone statue, he immediately roared happily, rolling and jumping to the group of stone statues by the sea. He turned over and turned into a bullhead monster, and his body was as big as the smallest stone statue. He knocked and beat the big bones in his hand, and the horns were sprayed with electric light, and the machine cannon thunder and fire bombs roared, knocking and bombing several stone statues into pieces!

If it weren't for the rise of destruction of this guy, he would have almost destroyed the stone statues made by the rescue tribe. He was stopped by Zhang Fan, so he would have to destroy all the stone statues before he could feel comfortable. However, it seems that the stone statues are not hard, and it seems to be made of a kind of porous and lighter volcanic rock. It is not as heavy and solid as it looks.

Zhang Fan recruited many Maori people on the island without hesitation, but their treatment is probably not so good, because the cabins of the four large ships are limited, so they can only squeeze these Maori people. These Maori people who have been tortured by hunger are all very happy to follow Zhang Fan's fleet, even if they can only be stuffed into the small cabin like slaves, as long as they can eat enough!

However, when you arrive on the South American coast, the fleet can cut down some big trees and build several simple big ships in the densely forested South American jungle. These Maori are masters of shipbuilding and navigating, and when you arrive in South America, you can travel along the coast at the next sea route, which is no difficulty. It is okay to be simpler.

Zhang Fan was as greedy as John Hawkins acquired black slaves, and as much as possible, the Maori people willing to leave Rapanui Island on board the ship. Because these Maori people will be the first loyal immigrants to the Caribbean hiding place. And the next voyage was not as long as I imagined. Under the reminder of the book demon, the fleet could completely reach the Isthmus of Panama and go directly to the Caribbean coast by land from there.

The narrowest part of the Panama Isthmus, which is separated from the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, is only 50 kilometers. From there, you can reach the Caribbean Sea from the Pacific Ocean in just one day. Zhang Fan can arrive at the Caribbean hiding place in advance by taking a wooden kite and inform the "Caribbean Alliance" to send a large ship to pick it up. However, now Panama is now a Spanish colony, and it is estimated that it will take some weeks to pass there.

The four sea boats were like four canned sardines, crowding Maori people who wanted to go to a new life. Zhang Fan even considered whether to sell some of them in the Caribbean to make some money. In any case, population is the first factor to develop. Zhang Fan now has hiding places and needs a large population to develop.

What's more, although these Maori people have a low level of civilization, they can grow cash crops, fish, hunt, and fight as pirates. They are also loyal and reliable, just have a wizard and priest to deceive them. The requirements for life are very low, which is much more affordable than those of European immigrants who are smart but have higher requirements for life.

The book demon also gained a lot. He obtained a group of "Langge-Langge" from two tribes. These large wooden slips similar to hieroglyphs are more than two meters long and more than ten centimeters wide. Even the Maori people in Tahiti and New Zealand could not understand them, so the book demon naturally did not recognize them. However, with the local chanting and the deciphering of the book demon, he finally understood the meaning of some of the words. The words on these wooden slips are in the form of oxen plow, one line from right to left, and the next line from left to right, which requires circling and reading, which is very troublesome.

However, after understanding it, it is disappointing. Because the content written on these large wooden slips is mostly daily life and text describing tribe battles. For example, during this tribe war, the leader of the Sweet Potato Tribe taught the leader of the Sugarcane Tribe a lesson and ate the other party's warriors, etc. There are also some early Easter Island fishing harvests.

Zhang Fan and Xuanyuan Xing thought these useless things were read with relish. Because what he cared about was not the content inside, but the origin of these words and their connection with other civilized words. Moreover, hard work paid off. The book demon finally found a piece of wooden slips describing magic in a pile of wooden slips in daily life. Although there were only a few words, it was full of profound and obscure philosophy.

The book demon asked Zhang Fan because of the meaning of Buddhist scriptures, which expounded many concepts of primitive divine arts. Zhang Fan, who was deeply immersed in this, read more thoroughly than the book demon who understood Christian doctrines. Because mono-religions such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism reject primitive polytheism religions. They generally oppose gods or those with great powers except God’s accident, and believers cannot understand them. But in fact, even if these great powers are not gods or do not recognize them as gods, their abilities and wisdom cannot be ignored.

However, the worldview of the three realms and six realms in Buddhism includes these great powers of gods from the heavenly way, the demons from the Asura way, the ghosts from the hell, the spirits from the animal way, and the wise men of the human way, and explain their origins and abilities in different categories, as well as their origins, developments and destructions. Looking at all kinds of things equally and objectively expounding the forms of sentient beings is the fundamental difference between Buddhism and other religions. No matter what your origin is, as long as you are finally enlightened, you are a Buddha.

Of course, the positive nature of the unidirectional religion cannot be denied, because the starting point and method for teaching sentient beings is different. The unidirectional religion’s nullification education for believers, that is, there is no god outside God, which is also to prevent believers from being tempted by evil demons and heretics, which leads to practice astray and fall into the abyss of thought. Similarly, in Buddhism, there are also methods of practicing that eliminate all thoughts and recite the Buddha’s name with all their heart.
