Chapter 345 Who is GDH?(1/2)

There is a saying on the Internet in later generations that China's aviation engine industry has become a weakness and has repeatedly dragged the back of domestic aircraft. A very important factor is that China has never completed the entire route from a turbojet engine to a fan engine.

Hu Wenhai didn't know whether this statement was correct, but among military fans and enthusiasts, it seemed that this was also a "consensus".

If you have not completed the path from turbojet to turbofan, of course, you cannot fully understand the design ideas and principles of turbojet.

Let’s just say that this statement seems to make some sense.

In Chinese history, we obtained the core engine of the US F101 engine from a certain channel. We used this GE9 as the core engine of the Taihang engine, and then assembled the outer duct of the AL-31F in our hand. This is the later Taihang engine.

Before Taihang, China's most successful turbofan project in engine design was just the Turbofan 6.

The Turbo Fan 6 was a project developed in the 1960s. At that time, China had not even had a thorough understanding of the turbo squirt.

At that time, I thought that the principle of the turbofan engine was not difficult. In short, wasn’t it just to add an external duct to the turbojet? I happened to have the core machine of F101 and the entire machine of AL-31F. Isn’t it enough to just save a piece?

Maybe it's just planning to take a shortcut, or it can be called "****blind activism".

Of course, at that time, this should probably be a good idea. The results of Taihang on the test drive table seemed to be pretty good. In addition to a little oil leakage, the performance was in line with the design requirements.

But after it was put into use, a core machine of the US imperial system was paired with a Russian external duct. It is conceivable that it is just like AMD's CPU and Intel's motherboard. It's okay to run the score, but when it is really used, there are naturally various faults emerging one after another. Moreover, these faults are like Indian missiles or cookie sister's guides, and can be said to be random discrete.

The faults that should be made, the faults that should not be made, and even the incredible ones are emerging one after another.

I can only say that Taihang did not fall off the plane, which was really a blessing from Marx.

When I arrived at Taihang B, I finally realized that the turbofan engine could not be mixed like this. So I simply designed the external duct for the F101 GE9 core machine from scratch, which was the result of the design process of the turbofan engine from scratch.

On this basis, the later turbofan 15 has the possibility of realization.

Simply put, we must know the truth and the reason.

Hu Wenhai got the full set of information about R35. If he wanted to use this as a core machine to develop a turbofan engine, he would definitely do this. However, he has not even understood the intrafluid field model in China, and is even farther away from the materials and technology than the United States, Jiangsu, Britain and France. How can he develop it by himself?

What we need now is not a certain engine, but to bring back the advanced engine research and development model and clarify the engine design ideas.

When Toums heard Hu Wenhai's words, he felt relieved. No matter what China wants, as long as it is not something that cannot be discussed like RB211.

Even if the other party’s lion speaks loudly, he still asks for a lot of money and returns it. Isn’t that the negotiations like this?

Toums said sincerely: "Anything, anything we can provide, can sit down and talk."

"OK, I believe Rolls-Royce has this sincerity."

Hu Wenhai nodded: "Actually, things are very simple. What I am worried about is the impact of changes in the political environment on supply. Although this situation may not necessarily happen, obviously this risk must be considered. For me, if I make a guaranteed behavior for Rolls-Royce to enter China, if this happens, my losses will be very serious. This is not only an economic loss, but Mr. Toums should understand it, right?"

"Of course, of course, this kind of thing will definitely have an adverse impact on Mr. Hu." Toums nodded empathically: "But UK-China relations will not affect commercial behavior unless it is war or international sanctions from the United Nations. Start a war against China with nuclear weapons? Or sanctions against a permanent member of the United Nations? Sorry, I really can't think of how low this possibility is."

What Toums said is the truth. Even when the United States proposed sanctions against China in the late 1980s, many Chinese and British military transactions and cooperation continued.

However, Hu Wenhai has no obligation to praise Niu Niu for his good reputation in business. In fact, if China and Britain were looking at each other from a distance across the Atlantic Ocean, Niu Niu would not be able to strengthen China's military and national strength without any scruples. Anyway, the Americans were ahead, and Britain and China were separated by almost the entire Asian and European world islands. No matter how you think about the Chinese army, it would be impossible for China's army to threaten Britain.

In this case, the British will certainly continue to "work with China without particularly stimulating the Americans.

It was Americans who, after sanctioning China in the late 1980s, in less than a year, privately "business is business".

As a rebirth, Hu Wenhai knew very well that the future international situation would not be as serious as the time that threatened the supply of civil aviation engines.

But the problem is, Toums doesn't know.

Hu Wenhai shook his head. When people think about making excuses, there are always countless interfaces to find. However, it is not so easy to find a suitable excuse that can cover up the real purpose. Fortunately, there is a good excuse between China and the UK.

"Xiangjiang."

"After the Sino-British Joint Declaration in 1984, the political and public opinion in the UK seemed to be..."

Hu Wenhai didn't finish his speech, but Toums sighed without notice.

The Sino-British joint statement is a very complicated thing for the British. China is not Argentina. Britain can fight a war with a South American country for the Malvinas Islands, but it will never dare to cross the entire world island for Hong Kong to fight a war with China. This has undoubtedly caused Britain's arrogance that has finally been stomped on by the Chinese.

When the Sun never set Empire lost the colony of Xiangjiang, it was conceivable that it was complicated.

After the Sino-British joint statement, the "disharmonious" remarks about Hong Kong and China in the UK were also rampant.

"But the Joint Declaration has been signed, and the UK will not make such a thing as tearing up the international statement." Toums also wanted to rescue him.

"Who knows?" Hu Wenhai shrugged and spread his hands: "If a political thing can be counted if it is signed, then human peace will be achieved long ago. Even if there will be no war or the agreement will be torn apart, who knows how much impact Hong Kong will have on Sino-British relations? If Hong Kong returns in the future, even if war is impossible, it is not surprising that Britain will impose a trade sanction, right?"

Toums raised his eyebrows and said, "well...", but he didn't say anything for a long time.

This situation does not seem impossible to happen. At least at this stage, the British public opinion is still resentful of China's approach to taking back Hong Kong.

"Well, I admit that this may be a small probability." Toums nodded in frustration.

"In that case, we have to provide protection for this risk. Mr. Toums doesn't have to worry too much, this problem is not unsolvable."

"I hope so." Toums corrected his sitting position, and it was obvious that this conversation was finally about to be seen.

"So, how does Mr. Hu hope to solve this problem?"

Hu Wenhai talked: "The method is very simple. If there is a problem with the supply of RB211, the Rolls-Royce China Branch can provide alternatives in China, I think this kind of cooperation will be extremely stable."

"I think I have already said that RB211 cannot be produced in China, and China does not have the ability to produce RB211."

Hu Wenhai simply said: "Then we won't produce RB211, but redesign an engine. In fact, we are trying to produce a TF41 engine in the country. The technology of the SBE engine has been very mature. If we base this technical route on the basis of this technology, Xinke and Rolls-Royce can jointly develop an aircraft engine for the Chinese market."

Toums subconsciously shook his head and said in surprise: "I have to say, Mr. Hu is just thinking about it..."

Hu Wenhai didn't care about Tums' interruption, and continued to say at his own pace: "Mr. Toums should know that because of our country's political system and international environment, our government has a strong sense of insecurity. He has extraordinary persistence in striving for localization. Think about it, a semi-domestic aircraft engine designed and produced by Rolls-Royce China Branch, I can guarantee that RB211 and this engine even monopolize 80% of the civil aviation engine share of the entire Chinese market."

Toums' eyes wandered, and his hands were placed on the table and his five fingers quickly tapped the tabletop.

This is his habitual movement when he is thinking about problems with all his strength, which means he must have great courage to make up his mind.

Tumus thought for ten minutes, and his fingers hitting the table suddenly stopped. He let out a deep breath, stared at Hu Wenhai and shook his head gently.

"If China wants to master a civil aviation engine, the MK511 and MK512 based on Spey are both civil aviation engines. The manufacturing technology of these two civil aviation engines is not difficult for China who has mastered Spey engines. Rolls-Royce can consider transferring them to China in exchange for the Chinese government's support for RB211. I wonder what Mr. Hu thinks?"

Hu Wenhai said sneering at this: "MK511 and MK512 engines are 5-ton civil aviation engines, right? And they are products from Rolls-Royce in the 1960s. If I remember correctly, this kind of engine is used by the Trident aircraft."

Toums defended: "A 5-ton engine is a good choice. On this basis, it can at least provide an alternative solution, right? Although wide-body long-range backbone passenger aircraft does not use this level of engine, aren't regional passenger aircraft like Trident also used?"

Hu Wenhai curled his lips secretly, "What a joke, it's just that the trident fell, our deputy commander, who dares to make this broken plane!"

"Mr. Toums, China's Trident aircraft are gradually retired. After the 1990s, I can guarantee that you will not find a Trident aircraft that is still operating in China! Unless Rolls-Royce can convince Boeing, McDonald or Airbus to re-adopt your 1960s products, what do we want the MK511 to do? Does it look good?"

"You can, uh, redesign a passenger plane based on the MK511..." He said something stumbling, and he probably didn't believe what he said. In order to use the outdated engine of the MK511, he developed a short-distance small aircraft with a range of 1,000 kilometers and a passenger capacity of 100 people?

Even if Rolls-Royce is Stalin's biological father, he should not let China nod and agree. Or he would bring Prince Charles to the Demon Capital to be the director of the Demon Capital Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences - that would not work!

Even Toums himself, as he spoke, had no courage to continue talking.

Hu Wenhai said firmly: "What China needs is an engine like the RB211 used for wide-body long-range trunk passenger aircraft - that is, the so-called 'big aircraft' with more than 300 seats, rather than the toy-like MK511."

"Please calm down, Mr. Hu." Tumus turned side unnaturally, as if he wanted to avoid the sudden burst of Hu Wenhai's sharp edge.

"I think you must not know much about the aero engine industry, nor do you know the difficulty of developing an RB211, an aircraft engine with a total of 12 tons. Rolls-Royce has suffered losses for five consecutive years and has laid off more than 20,000 employees. What is the reason for all this? Because we want to develop the latest RB211-535 engine, this engine even put Rolls-Royce on the verge of bankruptcy, and invested 1.8 billion pounds in R&D funds alone. Please be honest, I don't think China has so much capital to invest in."

Hu Wenhai pursed his lips, as if he was helpless in giving up: "Mr. Toums is right. I don't know much about the aviation engine industry. In fact, China does not have this soil, and I am not a professional practitioner of aviation engines. At most, I can only be considered an investor. As an investor, the creed I have always adhered to is to leave professional things to professionals. Investors just pay for money to ensure that researchers don't spend money randomly."

Tums nodded with a smile and said forcefully: "Look, as the president of Rolls-Royce, I'm afraid no one is more professional than me. Please believe me, MK511 will be a good choice, and China should not overestimate its abilities too much."

"No, we didn't overestimate our abilities."

Hu Wenhai pulled the corner of his mouth and showed a slightly contemptuous smile: "I don't know much about the aviation engine industry, but I'm afraid Mr. Toums, you don't know me very much. You know Xinke, and you don't know much about China. 1.8 billion pounds of R&D investment can put Rolls-Royce on the verge of bankruptcy and a large number of layoffs. Maybe you think this money is really a lot."

"But for me, it was just about one-fifth of Xinke's revenue last year."

"What?" Toums looked disbelieving.

"Please ask Mr. Toums, please find an expert who is studying a US commercial acquisition case, or a Wharton student." Hu Wenhai downplayed.

With a dazed look, Toums arranged Hu Wenhai's request. After a while, a handsome young man came over under the leadership of a middle-aged man with some anxiety.

"Mr. Toums, good evening." The middle-aged man greeted him with a reserved attitude and then introduced him.

“I am Conn from the Public Relations Department and I heard you are looking for a Wharton student. This is my youngest son, Simon, who is currently studying for his third year at Wharton.”

"Oh, Conn, I remember you!" Toums wiped his mouth, stood up and smiled, stretched out his hand and shook him actively: "You guys handled things well last time in Chicago, and it was impressive. Simon? Young man, you have to learn from your father, he is an amazing person."

"Hello Mr. Toums, I'm Simon Peggy." Simon shook hands with Toums after Conn and said somewhat flattered: "I have always been proud of my father, and he is my goal in life."

"Well said, young man." Toums smiled like a spring breeze: "I'll introduce you to you. This is Mr. Hu Wenhai, a Chinese friend of Rolls-Royce. He has some questions to ask you, and you just need to say what you know."

"Yes, Mr. Toums. Hello, Mr. Hu." Simon Pegg saw Hu Wenhai and his cautious look disappeared immediately, and he took the initiative to extend his hand.

"Hello, Simon Peggy." Hu Wenhai smiled slightly and pointed to the seat beside him: "Please sit down, Mr. Simon, and Mr. Conn."

"What questions do you need me to answer?" Simon Page said confidently: "Wharton is a world-renowned university. I think my answer will definitely satisfy you."

"It's not a difficult problem." Hu Wenhai smiled kindly and said, "I don't know if you have heard of a recent acquisition of an American company."

"What is the acquisition case?" Simon Page frowned and said in a little embarrassed manner: "Although I am a Wharton student, there are many companies in the United States, and mergers and acquisitions are common. If it is a case of a small company or a case of too small transaction volume, we will not pay attention to it."

The implication is that Simon Peggy thought Hu Wenhai was asking about what the merger and acquisition case related to China's trade. The merger and acquisition of such trading companies generally cannot even be carried out in the "stinky tofu" blocks of local third-rate newspapers. However, the merger and acquisition of such companies is probably very important to a certain industry in China. The Chinese in front of him is probably in a hurry to seek medical treatment? I heard that Wharton is the best business university in the world, so do you have to try your luck?

The shrewd Simon took himself out at the beginning.

"Oh, okay." Hu Wenhai nodded and said relaxedly: "It is indeed a small company, with more than one hundred employees. He mainly engages in import and export trade, and has some business dealings with my company."

really!

Simon Page was deeply impressed by his wit. With such strong foresight, maybe I should go to Wall Street to make a good trip after graduation. Although London's Financial City is also good, the center of the world is still on Wall Street, right?

The proud Simon Peggy couldn't help but smile and felt helpless for Toums. Alas, although he is the president of Rolls-Royce, he has to deliberately please such a rusty bun because of politics? It seems that it is not easy for a big shot!
