Chapter 1441 Fee Model

In addition to the previously mentioned places where Musk's Starlink plan makes money, after Boss Huang turned it into Zhoutian Star, he also made some optimizations to make money more.

The first and most core step is to change the ground receiving part of the Starlink plan.

In Huang He's view, the biggest problem with Starlink Project is that if you want to use it, you must have a ground receiver.

If you want to use Musk's Starlink program to access the Internet anytime, anywhere, then users must spend $300 to purchase an additional ground receiver.

The function of this receiver is to receive signals from the satellite's Starlink plan, and then convert the signal into a network signal and pass it to network equipment such as mobile phones for use.

It can be seen that this ground receiver is an extremely burdensome thing.

First of all, with this ground receiver, the Starlink Project is no longer a convenient 4G network that can be used anytime and anywhere, but a fixed broadband that is still fixed within the restricted range...unless the user is willing to carry this satellite receiver on his back.

Although the weight is not heavy, only 400 grams, the problem is that this thing also uses electricity. It does not have a built-in battery, so it needs to be plugged in or equipped with an external battery, which is very useless.

Although selling a ground receiver can make hundreds of dollars in profits and bring a considerable amount of extra income, this thing will ultimately limit the portability of the Starlink plan to a great extent.

Boss Huang's improved version of Zhoutian Star Plan directly solved this problem. Users no longer need any ground receivers, and can directly use their own personal terminals to receive signals from space.

In this way, the Zhoutian Xingchen Plan has completely become a perfect alternative to mobile networks. As long as users are on the earth, they can use the network anytime, anywhere without any restrictions.

Some people may find it strange that Musk cannot imagine this improvement. So why does his Starlink plan not directly build the receiver into the phone, but instead insist on creating an additional ground receiver?

The reason is very simple, because the success rate is very high and it is unrealistic.

First of all, all smartphones have not considered the issue of receiving satellite signals from space at all, so there is no such functional unit installed inside the mobile phone.

Unless Musk has the ability to add a new unit to all users' mobile phones, or to allow all newly produced mobile phones to increase costs, a satellite reception functional unit must be added, otherwise the problem can only be solved by selling ground receivers to users.

But this problem does not exist for Jiangnan Group. Although Jiangnan Group itself has long stopped selling personal terminals, all the technical standards and related technical authorizations of personal terminals are strictly controlled by Jiangnan Group.

Jiangnan Group only needs to convene all enterprises to hold a meeting internally. In the future, the functional units of satellite reception will become the standard function of all personal terminals. If the personal terminal of one's family does not install the satellite reception functional units, it cannot be considered a normal personal terminal. At the same time, various corresponding technical support and services will be directly disconnected, etc.

Of course, the cost of doing so will definitely increase, so Jiangnan Group supports everyone to raise prices in the future.

The sales cost of a functional unit is about US$5, so it is normal for everyone to raise the price by US$20 collectively, right? Because the technology and functions have been improved.

As for whether users accept it or not, all personal terminal companies will raise prices at the same time. If you don’t accept it, don’t buy a new terminal.

What, what if some companies are unwilling to raise prices?

No matter what, all companies must install satellite reception function units on their personal terminals, so their mobile phone production costs must be further increased. If they do not raise prices, their profits will be reduced. This is the issue of price wars, and Jiangnan Group will not care about it.

Anyway, with Jiangnan Group's current position in the entire industry, this is really a problem that can be solved by holding a meeting, and companies generally accept it.

Because with the continuous development of the personal terminal industry, enterprises have to launch new models of personal terminals every year, and these functional terminals must be attached with some breakthrough functions, otherwise it will be difficult to attract consumers during publicity.

Then the function of being able to directly receive satellite signals is a very good selling point.

Therefore, this huge problem for the Starlink project will no longer exist for Jiangnan Group.

In addition to hardware problems, another huge problem comes from technology.

Why are all ground satellite receivers designed to be similar to an umbrella? Is this shape good-looking?

Of course not, this is because the signals from satellites are actually very weak. The ground needs an umbrella-shaped receiving device to receive a large number of satellite signals, thereby increasing the network speed.

However, if the satellite reception function unit is built into the mobile phone, then this function unit can only receive satellite signals at a small point outside, so that the satellite signal will be very weak and will not be able to use normally, and may only have a speed of about 1K per second.

And users cannot connect an umbrella to their phone, which is different from carrying a ground receiver with them. Therefore, if this technical problem is not solved, the phone will not be able to use the Starlink plan directly.

This problem has troubled the technicians of Jiangnan Group for a long time. Boss Huang proposed the Zhou Tianxingchen plan in 2010, but it was not until 2017 that the first satellite was launched. There were 5 years of research on how to solve the problem of using only one point to receive satellite signals.

After countless failures and attempts, the technical team of Jiangnan Group finally came up with the final solution. By improving the receiving materials, and using the huge multi-threaded computing power of the new generation of quintal computer chips, re-encoding signals, etc., the built-in satellite communication terminal of the mobile phone can also be smoothly connected to the Zhoutian Star satellite in the sky.

In this way, the Zhoutian Star Plan solved the most critical problem, and the first satellite could finally be launched smoothly. In order to express his importance to this plan, Boss Huang himself came to the launch site and witnessed the rocket sending a total of 36 Zhoutian Star satellites into the predetermined orbit.

Well, because the entire Zhoutian Star Plan requires about 60,000 satellites in total, launching one by one is obviously unable to meet the construction needs of Jiangnan Group, so it is inevitable that multiple satellites can be shot by one.

So this launch also created a Guinness World Record, which is the world record that a rocket carries the largest number of satellites at one time. The official certification officer of the Guinness World Record was even on the scene and directly awarded a certification certificate to Boss Huang himself.

Six hours later, all 36 satellites arrived in the predetermined orbit, covering the area where the Xihai Satellite Launch Center was located. Boss Huang took out the world's first terminal equipped with the Zhoutian Star satellite reception function, and used the network services provided by the Zhoutian Star Plan to read a latest novel called "This Novel is Healthy".

Boss Huang is doing his own Zhoutian Star Plan, but other companies and countries are quite disdainful of this. They all think this is an unrealistic product of Jiangnan Group that is destined to burn all its funds but has no use value.

No one could have imagined that this was an extremely important piece that Boss Huang laid for future changes.

In the next year, Jiangnan Group will launch 30,000 to 40,000 satellites one after another, and then these satellites will actively avoid densely populated cities and give priority to covering unmanned areas.

At the same time, Jiangnan Group also announced the charging method of Zhoutian Xingchen Plan, which is the traffic charging that has been abandoned by the times.

In the initial stage of mobile networks, almost all companies charged according to the amount of network traffic used, but this charging method that suppressed users' desire to use traffic is destined to hinder the development of technology and the market, so this method quickly became a monthly payment model for traffic, and it is also the mainstream charging model now.

Then why does Boss Huang charge against the trend this time by charging in the form of traffic?

That is actually to allow more people to use the Zhoutian Star Plan.

Because starting from 2017, all new personal terminals released will have a satellite signal reception function unit directly, which means that all new terminal users only need an electronic signal to directly use the Zhoutian Star Plan.

Most people don’t need it. They live in cities and the mobile network signals around them are very good. How can they use the Zhoutian Star Plan?

But people cannot stay in cities with superior signals. They always have to go to some remote areas. At this time, they have the need to use the Zhoutian Star Plan.

But if the Zhoutian Star Plan adopts the monthly subscription model at this time, the huge monthly subscription fee required for the first use will become a threshold to block these users from using the Zhoutian Star Plan.

In this way, the traffic charge is very suitable. Although the price of 1 USD = 10MB of traffic is not cheap, it is within the range that users can accept.

Just imagine, when you arrive in a place without any network, most of the functions of your phone will be completely sealed.

If a prompt pops up automatically at this time, saying that the network signal of the Zhoutian Star Plan was detected, the user only needs to pay 1MB=10 cents to enjoy the Internet directly.

I believe many users would be willing to pay these 10 cents to buy traffic. Anyway, the function will be automatically suspended when there is a network, and it will not cost much money, but it can solve the anxiety caused by the lack of the network.

Of course, those users who stay in areas without internet for a long time can also enable monthly service, and you can buy a stable traffic package of 1GB per month for $10.
