Chapter 48 Scarecrow
"Now, tell me who is the 'scarecrow' you talk about?"
Schneider asked hoarsely.
The female police detective obviously did not have the courage to look at and talk to the masked weirdo, and she looked at the deputy sheriff with an inquiring look.
"Someone please follow me to the observation room first. Then let Vice President Ferdinand and my men provide you with information." The deputy sheriff thought for a while and spoke solemnly.
"Lead the way." Schneider said lightly.
Several people walked through the long and silent corridor. Under the incandescent headlights, their figures were quickly lengthened and shortened, and they were repeated. The darkness outside the windows of the corridor seemed to be hidden in the darkness, no one spoke, and all they could hear in their ears were heavy footsteps and rapid breathing.
There are some patients in the closed white doors. The top floor of the Observation and Rehabilitation Department has always been known as the forbidden area of the New York Presbyterian Hospital, because the hospital claims that there are severe mental illnesses with violent tendencies, and only qualified doctors and nursing staff who have signed confidentiality agreements can come here.
But the truth is far more terrifying than the legend.
Walking through the end of the corridor is an empty hall, where the lights are significantly dim, and there are no bright headlights above your head, instead of a few dark-colored recessed wall lights.
In addition to the ceiling, the hall is paved with white and gray marble without any unnecessary facilities. The only thing that attracts attention is a metal door facing the corridor. The thick door panel is made of alloy that can prevent explosives, and there is an iris recognition device on the wall.
The vice president walked to the corner of the southeast of the hall and gently tapped a darker wall brick one meter away. The infrared detection system instantly went out with the remaining few warm wall lights, leaving only the faint white light from the corridor in the distance.
"The security system is good." Schneider whispered, "as a hospital."
"You're laughing." Vice President Ferdinand led everyone to the metal door. Before entering the door, he reminded repeatedly, "Please be mentally prepared for the next picture. The situation inside may cause you a little psychological discomfort."
Vice President Ferdinand put his right pupil on the electronic eye with his back to everyone. The iris recognition system passed. After a loosening sound of the mechanical spring, the thick metal door bounced open a gap.
The young man in a black suit slowly opened the door panel. Schneider and others entered the room first. Once again, he was the last one to enter the door within twenty meters of the surrounding door.
After joining the executive department, Ye Sheng has performed many difficult and dangerous tasks. He has also been on the front line of life and death many times. The executive department is a symbol of iron and blood.
Looking for dragon relics and documents in the rarely-traveled polar ice, hunting high-risk mixed-race species in downtown areas, fighting with the underworld and even the army with real guns and ammunitions... The Executive Department's reputation of showing off its madness can be said to have stepped on the blood and bones of the enemy and companions step by step, but even Ye Sheng and Aki Sakuto, who are experienced and ranked among the elites in the Executive Department, have never seen such a strange scene.
Or, such a weird woman.
The door is stacked together by several layers of tempered glass, one punch thick, and divided into two spaces. The space they are in is similar to a combination of an observation room and an interrogation room, with the weird part on the other side of the room separated by the glass.
On the other side was a woman wearing a white and blue striped hospital gown and shrouded hair. The woman leaned her face close to the glass and looked straight at them. What was even more terrifying was her face. The flesh on the woman's face was shaved into dozens of slender strips. The corners of her mouth were opened and she wanted to smile but couldn't smile because her upper and lower lips were sewn tightly by fine needles and threads.
Aki Yudai, who was standing behind Schneider, looked at the woman's eyes, but found that the woman was also looking at her in horror. Even though she was still creepy through her sunglasses, she was still shivering, and the chill rushed to the sky.
Seeing this, Ye Sheng pulled Aki behind him, but even as a boy, he had goose bumps when he met the woman's gaze.
"She is the victim you mentioned?" Schneider quietly observed the woman and asked the deputy sheriff and the detective.
"Yes, but she is only one of the victims. The other victims have basically been confirmed to die or become vegetative." The female police detective did not dare to look at the woman or Schneider. Her eyes were unnaturally wandering, and her words were filled with a bit of tremolo.
"The other victims have also become like this?" Schneider asked with a frown, wanting to determine whether the victimization level of a woman appears physically or mentally, or both.
"Most of them, only a few people directly confirmed their death. When I first discovered her, she had already shaved her face to look like this. At that time, she was sewing her mouth with steel needles and iron thread." The female police detective recalled the scene and her stomach still couldn't help but surging.
"You mean, is the physical trauma of the victim created by himself?" Schneider asked.
"It should be that we compared the fingerprints left on the crime tools of other victims at the scene, all of which were left by the victim himself," the deputy sheriff explained.
"What is she muttering in her mouth?" Schneider looked at the woman. He observed that the woman's mouth was not completely sewn and opened and closed, as if she was repeating something.
"She was saying: 'Scarecrow, scarecrow, scarecrow will kill all the people in the way!'" Vice President Ferdinand said, with a creepy tone.
"How do you know?" Schneider asked the deputy dean.
"I'm studying this. Psychology is my specialty. After the incident, I gave psychological comfort to this patient...the victim. She kept saying this in my ear." Vice President Ferdinand explained.
Schneider did not ask again. He looked at Vice President Ferdinand deeply, and then turned his eyes to the woman behind the glass again.
Scarecrow, the woman's face is divided like a slender straw rope, and her mouth is sewn and unable to make a sound. This does look a bit like a thrilling and weird version of the real scarecrow.
"You guys go out first." Schneider said to the three people except Ye Sheng and Judea Aki.
"No! The victim was very unstable, I was worried..." The deputy sheriff's tone was anxious.
"Go out." Schneider interrupted mercilessly.
The deputy sheriff sighed. The upper level had previously told him that the incident had been fully responsible for the trio led by Schneider, and he had only room for obedience.
"Scarecrow, a ridiculous name. What do you think?" Schneider asked.
Ye Sheng and Aki Sakuto looked at each other and were about to speak, but his cell phone began to vibrate.
