Chapter 1 Mouse OR Lucky

Chen Cong looked around, with blank space on one side, boundless blank space, nothing.

“Where is this?”

"This is your spiritual world."

A voice came from behind, standard Mandarin, with round and round characters, soft voice lines, but no emotion, as if a computer synthesized sound.

Chen Cong turned around and saw two aliens - streamlined oval heads, big eyes like butterfly wings, and long metallic body, which was like a LOGO incarnation on Dell's high-end gaming laptop.

It is less than one meter tall and has the same appearance, as if it was produced by an assembly line. The only difference is the color of the eyes, one is dark blue and the other is dark red, and has no pupils, as dazzling as a gem.

The two aliens stood in the air without touching the ground. Between them and Shen Cong, a translucent three-dimensional light curtain was suspended, and 360° showed the scene of Chen Cong being knocked away by a high-speed SUV without dead angles.

The strange and inexplicable space environment, the terrible scene of death, and the strangely shaped aliens. Faced with these, Chen Cong found that he had no emotional fluctuations, his heart was as calm as water. The so-called "victim's emotional stability" in the official language is probably like this...

"I'm dead?"

"By the standards of Earthlings, yes, you are dead." The red-eyed alien replied: "But for us, the body is not important, the spirit is the standard for survival or not, so you are not dead."

"Psychological body?"

"The body of flesh is very fragile, so we abandon the body and evolved to the realm of being purely spiritual." The blue-eyed alien explained that her voice was female and had no emotion. "What you see now is just the illusion we created temporarily for the sake of communication. You can call me Erin and Paul."

Erin - "Robot Mobilization", Paul - "Alien Paul".

When has it been, and I still have the intention to guess the origin of the alien's name... Chen Cong shook his head, shook his bored thoughts away, and asked, "I am a ghost now? Or a soul state?"

"To be precise, it is an unstable mental body." Paul, a red-eyed alien, said coldly: "In the moment of the car accident, we preserved your mental body, but the human spirit is not strong enough and without physical support, it will soon dissipate. You can still exist in this state for about 30 minutes."

With the words of aliens, a digital clock appeared on the light curtain, showing the countdown of "27 minutes and 43 seconds".

The extremely stable emotions made Chen Cong's thinking very active. The two aliens did not save him before the car accident, but collected their mental bodies after death, so they must have made some plans.

"What do you want to do?"

"Don't be nervous, we have no malice." Erin's little hand gently stroked, the clock disappeared, and the light curtain changed into new content - a clip from a movie.

A few minutes later, she asked, "Have you seen this movie?"

"I've seen it." Chen Cong nodded. As a movie fan, he recognized it at a glance. "This is "Million Pounds", adapted from Mark Twain's novel, starring Gregory Parker, an old movie in 1953."

"Very good, since you've seen it, let's talk short." Erin said: "There's a debate between Paul and I. In order to resolve it, we decided to follow the two gentlemen in the movie, choose a lucky person, and use his actual experience to verify whose theory is correct, and you are the lucky person we chose."

Chen Cong was silent and was regarded as a lucky person as a guinea pig? But in the movie Gregorian Park seemed to live a very comfortable life... Besides, everyone is dead, what qualifications are there to protest? Let's hear what aliens want to do.

"This debate is related to the phenomenon of cultural conflict on the earth." Paul did not care about Chen Cong's psychological activities. He said directly: "According to my theory, in the current earth civilization environment, when two cultures conflict and collision, personal ability is irrelevant and cannot determine the direction of cultural conflict, just like in interstellar wars, personal courage is useless."

"My theory is exactly the opposite." Erin said tit-for-tat: "I think an individual with extraordinary abilities can play a decisive role in cultural conflicts, just as in ancient wars, a wise commander would decide the outcome of a battle, or even the rise and fall of a country."

Chen Cong said he was confused. Cultural conflicts are not physical wars, so how can we define victory or defeat?

"You don't need to know this knowledge." Erin saw Chen Cong's confusion and said, "It's like in the movie, Gregory Parker didn't know the content of the two gentlemen's controversy, you just need to do what we told you."

Chen Cong nodded and said that there was no problem. He accepted the fate of being a guinea pig. The situation was better than that of a human. If he didn't agree, well, there were still 14 minutes and 21 seconds left on the light screen, and he would be wiped out...

"What do I want to do?"

"We want you to play a time travel game." Paul tapped his finger, and the light curtain changed again, showing the aerial view of the earth's space. The blue sphere rotated and enlarged, and finally frozen over a city. "Go to Hong Kong in 1979 and have a movie war."

"Hong Kong? Movie War?"

"With the current technological level of the earth, film is the ultimate expression of culture." Paul explained: "Hong Kong has a good film industry and is a focal area where the conflict between East and West cultures is very suitable as a place for our experiments."

"The content of the game is very simple, leading Hong Kong to challenge Hollywood." Erin said: "If Hong Kong can replace Hollywood and become the center of world films, then my theory is correct."

Go back to the past to make movies? I like it!

"Any rational scientific experiment is carried out under specific times and conditions." Paul explained in detail: "The place you want to rob is actually the copy of time and space that we have preserved, starting from January 1, 1979 and ending until January 1, 2009. You can understand it as time travel, or it can be understood as a parallel world. Time travel is because in the copy of time, everything is 100% real restored earth's history, and parallel worlds are because everything in your previous life, such as parents, brothers, friends, etc., does not exist in the fragments of time and space. This is a measure that must be taken to avoid unnecessary emotional bonds."

Time travel? Time and space copy? Chen Chong felt very confused, but soon he felt it didn't matter. He couldn't even think about the meaning of life, and he still thought about Mao's world meaning...

He only cares about one question: "What will I do after January 1, 2009?"

"If you can complete the task well, there will naturally be a perfect ending." Paul's statement gave Chen Chong a little comfort: "30 years are just a preset value, not a certain value, it all depends on your actions."

The aliens did not intend to continue to get entangled with this problem. Paul manipulated the light curtain and showed the full body image of a naked man, saying: "This person is called Chen Chong, 20 years old, his parents died, he was introverted, and his interpersonal relationships were simple. Because of his congenital heart disease, he died on January 1, 1979. We will use the space-time transition instrument to project you into his body at the moment of his death."

The legendary soul travels...or is it a parallel world time and space travel?

Chen Cong observed with interest: he looked pretty good, had beautiful eyebrows, was 178 cm tall, weighed 62 kilograms, which was similar to the body he had just died. Overall, there was nothing special about an ordinary person.

“What to do if you have congenital heart disease?”

"We will cure it, so don't worry about this."

"I can't speak Cantonese, I can't read and write traditional Chinese characters, which will be very troublesome."

"We will retain the language and writing skills of this body, as well as some basic life skills." Paul was a little impatient, and he asked coldly: "What else is there?"

"Yes." Chen Cong pondered his words for a moment, and then said: "After I pass, I can easily obtain huge amounts of money and huge rights, live a comfortable life of spending all kinds of money and living, and thus give up or passively perform the tasks you gave me. What consequences will be if I do this?"

"We are prepared for this." A blue-eyed Erin answered blindly, then said: "Okay, the time is almost over. Activate the space-time transition instrument and let's start."

Chen Cong looked at the light curtain, and the countdown on it showed "3 minutes and 15 seconds". He wisely chose to shut up and stop asking questions.

"The space-time transition instrument starts..."

"Lock the transition target..."

"The transition begins..."
