Chapter 1308 Michelangelo's sculpture

There are too many artworks displayed in the Louvre, with as many as 400,000 pieces. It is basically impossible to appreciate all of these artworks, except living in Paris for a very young age.

Ye Tian and his team were in Europe and had limited time in Paris, so it was even more impossible to appreciate all the artworks displayed in this museum.

They can only select the most important and representative works of art from them and appreciate them carefully. In this way, they can only be said to be a quick look.

After entering the first floor of the Louvre, Ye Tian and his team chose the first visit area, which was the famous Michelangelo Corridor.

Just like outside, Ye Tian once again served as a tour guide. As soon as he walked into the Michelangelo corridor, he began to explain to Betty and Anderson.

"Dear, this is the famous Michelangelo Corridor, which displays a large number of sculptures that are well-known in the history of Western art, many of which are priceless treasures with extremely high artistic value.

The reason why this place is called the Michelangelo Corridor is because it displays two famous slave sculptures by Michelangelo, "The Bound Slave" and "The Dying Slave".

Apart from these two slave sculptures, all other known Michelangelo sculptures are in Italy, and these two slave statues are also the most famous sculptures in the Michelangelo Corridor.

In addition, there are famous sculptures such as "Editor Prosesa and the God of Love", "Raocon", "Louis XIV Riding", "Fighting", and "Prison of War".

The two sculptures, also known as the Three Treasures of the World, are not in this corridor, "The Statue of the Goddess of Victory on Samothrace Island" and "Venus of Milo".

The statue of the goddess of victory is in the stairwell from the first to the second floor of the Denon Pavilion, and the statue of the Broken Arm Venus is in the Greek Sculpture Hall in front. These two sculptures are definitely not to be missed, we will see them later!”

While speaking, Ye Tian and the others had already come to Michelangelo's two sculptures, "The Bound Slave" and "The Dead Slave", and began to appreciate these two shocking sculptures.

The two slave sculptures are placed very close, standing in the middle of the corridor, one in front and one behind, and are only two or three meters apart.

The first thing Ye Tian and the others admire was "The Bound Slave", which is a little more outward.

"The Bounded Slave" is a marble sculpture created by Michelangelo in 1516. It is 215 cm high, strong and powerful, and is one of the most outstanding works of sculpture art during the Renaissance.

Michelangelo used marble to shape a strong slave tied to a stone pillar, and used his superb sculpture skills to portray an unyielding spirit of resistance.

The young slaves in the sculpture are as strong as bulls, their bodies twisted in a spiral shape and seem to be struggling to break free from the ropes on their bodies.

Although his arms were tied backwards, the muscles in his body were tight, making people feel that there was an extremely powerful resistance.

In contrast, the ropes tied to him seemed so fragile and weak, and seemed to have become only an ornament.

The young slave's tied head was always trying to hold high, his lips tightly closed, his eyes wide open, and his eyes showed anger of resistance and a strong and unyielding will.

After admiring quietly for a while, Ye Tian began to explain the sculpture to Betty and the others.

"Betty, Anderson, look at the appearance of this slave sculpture. The author did not carefully craft it. The appearance looked rough and the knife marks were clearly visible.

This was done by Michelangelo on purpose. These rough knife marks were like marks left by the suffering of the slave, which further highlighted the slave's unyielding spirit of resistance.

In this sculpture, Michelangelo showed it with a carving knife, not so much as a slave, but a noble virtue of all mankind's resistance to tyranny and fighting for freedom.

From the perspective of artistic expression, Michelangelo gave this sculpture a huge inner tension, which is mainly reflected in the unity of the human body's sense of movement and balance...

While giving the explanation, Ye Tian also secretly opened his perspective and completely looked through the tall portrait sculpture in front of him.

Wherever you look, all the details inside and outside of this outstanding work of Michelangelo are presented clearly in Ye Tian’s eyes, without any omissions!

Ye Tian found no secret in this great sculpture. There was neither hidden mechanism nor any information related to the treasure.

However, this sculpture itself is a treasure, the treasure of sculpture art!

Through this sculpture and the traces of carving knives of varying depths on the young slaves, Ye Tian seemed to see Michelangelo standing in front of a piece of marble that had just taken a carving knives and pondered!

Whenever he thinks of gaining something, he will smile a hint of relief, then raise a carving knife or other carving tools, leaving several marks on the marble in front of him, turning the genius's ideas into reality.

As the carving knife rises and falls, "The Bounded Slave" takes shape little by little, presenting it in front of Michelangelo and in front of Ye Tian.

From perspective, Ye Tian not only saw the entire process of the birth of this sculpture, but also saw Michelangelo's amazing talent, which is amazing!

After completely looking through the sculpture, Ye Tian withdrew his gaze and ended the perspective.

At the same time, his professional and precise explanation ended.

Next, they stood quietly in front of the sculpture and carefully admired the great sculpture. Everyone was shocked and intoxicated!

About three or four minutes later, Betty and the others woke up.

Immediately afterwards, a burst of marvel sounded at the scene.

"Wow! This sculpture is so shocking. Standing here, I seem to feel the anger in the heart of the slave and his strong and unyielding will!"

"This is Michelangelo! I finally saw that he not only has artistic talent that shocked the past and the present, but also had a passion like a fire, and deserved the reputation of the three heroes of the Renaissance!"

Not only Betty and Anderson, but also some other visitors were also surprised.

While appreciating this great sculpture, they were also listening to Ye Tian’s professional explanation next to them. They were all fascinated by the audience and were reluctant to leave at all!

The person who explained on the spot is one of the world's top antique art appraisal experts. He has a sharp vision and is famous for everyone!

Moreover, this guy is also a versatile person in the field of antique art, and it seems that he doesn’t understand it!

Who would have been willing to miss such a god-given opportunity? Of course, he would not leave easily!

Ye Tian didn't care about these visitors who listened to their own explanations for free, as long as they did not hinder their visit and Betty's itinerary and did not threaten everyone's safety.

After appreciating "The Bound Slave", everyone took two steps forward and came to "The Dead Slave" and began to appreciate this outstanding work of Michelangelo!

"The Dying Slave" was created in 1513 and is 229 cm tall. It is one of the paired statues created by Michelangelo for the tomb of Pope Juli II.

Another sculpture is "The Bound Slave" that Ye Tian and the others have just admired.

"Diet Slave" creates a young slave with a strong appearance, a well-proportioned proportion, a strong body, and a tired body. His left hand is placed behind his head and his right hand is gently placed on his chest.

There is a rope on the chest of the young slave, symbolizing the violence and dictatorship of imprisonment. The muscles of the whole body are stretched and relaxed, as if a soul has entered the kingdom of heaven and the body is liberated.

And this is the destination of liberation that Michelangelo prays for.

Under Michelangelo's carving knife, the struggle of force made the young slave's legs close to his legs, his arms close to his body and head, and there was no gap between his limbs and his torso, and the statue formed a whole piece.

From this statue, people can not only see the extremely brilliant carving art, but also Michelangelo's artistic thoughts.

He used his own carving knife to show human reflection on pain, despair will to act, and the sufferings he suffered for unrealized ideals.

After watching quietly in front of the sculpture for a while, Ye Tian’s clear voice came out again, reaching the ears of every visitor around the statue.

"The statue of "Die Slave" does not seem to reflect a young slave, but a heroic fighter. On this statue, human dignity is perfectly reflected.

When creating this statue, Michelangelo was forced to serve the pope and the city rulers. As an artist with humanistic ideas, he could only fight with his own carving knife.
