Chapter 1 The Whaling Ship

sequence

Before leaving this world, I was an athlete of a professional sports team. As for the project, it was a bit unpopular UFO shooting in China. Due to funding issues, I used a double-bar hunting rifle to train and was a product from the 1980s. It is true that it is old, but it is easy to hold it after a long time of fine workmanship.

One morning in the park where I was running and exercising, a colorful light flashed in front of my eyes. When I opened my eyes again, I landed on the deck of a medieval fishing boat.

Chapter 1 Whaling Ship

Four crew members of different figures and skin colors surrounded me, an uninvited guest. I often go abroad to compete in a foreign language. I asked a few times in English: "Where is this?"

A white gentleman dressed in relatively neat blond hair and blue eyes came over, "Only God knows where exactly, but I can tell you that this is the Pacific Ocean."

Thank goodness, someone on board knew English. The Pacific Ocean was not far from home, but these people seemed to be dressed strangely. They could not be Somali pirates. I asked casually: "Sir, what year is it now?"

The gentleman gave me a blank look, "1555, is there any problem?"

Sure enough, I knew that the seaboats are much better now than this one. Somali pirates will at least carry RPG or AK47. Now the ship is mainly cold weapons. "There is quite a problem. I came in 2009."

The gentleman said to the four people around me: "You go to work." The four sailors shrugged and dispersed to wash the deck and sort out the cables. The gentleman pointed at me and said, "You, come with me."

The gentleman took me into the captain's room on the upper deck, asked me to sit down, and introduced myself, "I, the captain of the whaling ship Arthur Conan Doyle, England, is very happy to know you."

"My name is Sherlock Holmes. I am very happy to know you." Since your name is Conan Doyle, my name is Sherlock Holmes.

Conan Doyle was stunned and asked, "How come you have a British name? Judging from your appearance, you should be from the Ming Dynasty."

"Haha, how to say this question? Decades later, Empress Elizabeth defeated Spain's Invincible Armada. In the following hundreds of years, Britain replaced Spain's Sun-Down Empire and maritime overlords, and opened up colonies around the world. Therefore, many countries regard English as their second mother tongue. For example, the Ming Dynasty did not know how to speak English, and even had a job opportunity. So it is very common for everyone to have an English name."

Conan Doyle excitedly stroked a cross on his chest, "My God. Is this true? Bloody Mary's rule is finally over."

"Of course." The skill of telling lies is to say 90% of the truth and 10% of the lies. As for the decline of Britain, I won't tell it, so as not to let our Mr. Arthur Conan Doyle be sad. Anyway, Britain will still maintain its position as the overlord of the sea before World War II. As for the bloody Mary, I really don't know what kind of bloody Mary, if it were Super Mary, I could tell four or six.

Conan Doyle also wanted to ask me some detailed questions about the history of British colonial development in the 16th century. I shrugged and said, "Sir, can you tell me who was the emperor of the Ming Dynasty five hundred years ago? What big things did he do?"

"No, I only remember Genghis Khan." Conan Doyle told me honestly what he knew about China.

I knew that Marco Polo had seen too much. "So I don't know what would happen to Europe five hundred years ago. I only remember some major events."

Conan Doyle looked at my sportswear, shorts, shorts, arms and calves were exposed, and her muscles were obviously physically employed. She did not look like she was educated, so she gave up and continued to ask about modern British history. "Did there be many later British colonies? How many?"

"Many, of course, the size is different. Some places only have one or two ports or small islands, and some places have the entire country. For example, India and North America, most parts of North America are spread across five continents and four oceans. The real empire that does not set in the sun."

"Oh, my god." Conan Doyle was surprised again. The discovery in the Americas was not long. Although I had never been there, Conan Doyle still knew that it was a much larger territory than the British Isles. As for India, it had seen it. It was a large population, vast and fertile land. It was stronger than the local area no matter how you look at it.

After Conan Doyle finished speaking, I began to ask about whaling. Since whales are protected in modern times, except for some islands, there are basically no countries in the world to hunt whaling. "Do you really use harpoons to hunt whaling?"

Conan Doyle did not directly answer my question, but instead directly found a large iron harpoon under the bed to show me, "This is my spare harpoon. What whales did you use at that time? Wasn't it a harpoon?"

"No," I stroked the harpoon and said, "Fix it with cannon. Fix it on the deck of the ship, and then shoot the harpoon into the whale's body."

"Then your whaling ship must be big, otherwise you will be dragged over by the angry whales."

"Maybe, I haven't seen it before."

Conan Doyle found that I was particularly interested in harpoons and asked, "Do you want to try it? There are training targets on the deck, and we sometimes use this to bet on this. One gold coin is a game. You can play it too."

I subconsciously looked at the short sportswear that I didn't even have a trouser pocket, "Sorry, I don't have money."

Conan Doyle laughed, took out the purse from the drawer, took out three gold pounds from it and handed it to me, "This is yours, young man."

I picked up a gold pound and looked carefully. It felt very heavy to buy the gold coins, but I decided to refuse and pushed back the three gold pounds. "Sir, I didn't work for you, and I ran to your boat for no reason, causing you a lot of trouble. So I can't ask."

Conan Doyle grabbed the gold coins and put them in my hand, closed them hard, and said with a smile: "This is what you deserve, young man, today you gave me good news worth thirty gold pounds. Take my whale fork and go play with them."

When we arrived at the upper deck, three people were playing the game of throwing harpoons, and there were thirty people watching. After inquiring, they were playing the second and third pairs and sailors. The rules were very simple. Those who wanted to play still had a gold coin in the tray, then tied a hemp rope to the back of the whale fork, and took turns to throw the whale fork to a one-foot square target twenty meters away. The one closest to the cross point of the red heart was the winner, and took away all the gold coins. When one person threw the red new point, he was considered a kill.

After watching two rounds, I also threw a gold coin into a wooden plate to participate in the game of throwing whale forks. The second and third ones just looked at me and signaled the sailors behind me to throw a thick hemp rope. After I tied the rope, I weighed the weight of the whale fork, which was slightly heavier than the javelin. Although there was no running aid, I could say that I was hitting wherever I was twenty meters away. Although there was an essential difference between javelin and double-barrel hunting rifle, the postgraduate entrance examination was nothing more than hand, eyes, body and craft steps, and these things were left over from the army.

Young people always don’t know that the sky is high and the earth is thick. The first time I threw a whale fork, I almost got off the target. The second councillor looked at my grades and said, “Yes, there are not many young people who didn’t throw off the target for the first time.” After that, he threw a whale fork, which was more accurate than mine. A gold coin was gone.

The final winner was the sailor leader, who comforted me by the way, saying, "I think I can go hunting whales for this result. How about you be the fourth mate on the boat."

"Not really, I just forgot to calculate the factors of the sea breeze and the bumps in the hull. I'll want you to look good next time." The sailors, including the second mate, sneered at my challenge.

I finally found my state between losing, losing and winning. After entering the state, I won consecutive games and even threw four consecutive kills. The second and third-hand sailors and the big ones who had just rushed over to kill the fat sheep were defeated.

At night, I lay in a large single room (two shillings rented in one day) to settle the results of the day, seventy-seven gold pounds, one hundred and sixty silver shillings and one thousand two hundred and forty silver pennies. As well as two and three large pairs of people, each losing to me a double-bar musket for self-defense, a pair of Normandy calfskin shoes and a French gentleman's top hat cane. (It is said that this was the captain who won the sailor when he made another bet.) Four IOUs, totaling sixteen pounds. After a day, I got more than one hundred pounds with money and goods, which was more than robbery. As the saying goes, small gambling is fun, big gambling makes a fortune. Hahaha~~~~~~

A terrifying laughter came from a cabin late in the Pacific Ocean.

Note: One pound = 20 shillings, one shilling = 12 pence.

When I chatted with the captain the next day, I realized that the William whaling ship was sailing eastward after supplying supplies in Macau. It encountered a hurricane and fled northward to get here. Since there were only simple sextant and star maps on the ship, I only know that the approximate location is near latitude 35, 160, Tokyo.

This dimension seems to be not far from Aichi Prefecture. This thought flashed through my mind and I asked about the profits of whaling.

This time I asked Captain Conan Doyle's idea, "The profit is quite high. Baleen and whale brain oil now have a large market in Europe, especially sperm whale. The profit of a sperm whale's whale's whale's whale's whale's whale's whale's whale's whale's whale's profit is enough for my William to wander on the sea for two years. Even ordinary whales, one is worth more than one hundred pounds."

"Where is whale meat?" I remember that modern times use whale meat as pet food, and I don't know how it was handled in ancient times.

"Although the whale meat tastes pretty good, we can't bring the whale meat back to the port even in the Mediterranean or the Baltic Sea, because that's too troublesome. It's better to catch a few more whales when you have this time, unless it's very close to the port."

I nodded, "So that's the case, it's really a waste."

The ship suddenly began to turn, and Conan Doyle jumped up from the chair immediately, rushed to the helmsman and asked, "What's wrong?"

The helmsman held his palms and kept stabilizing his body. He raised his chin and said to the sea: "School of whales."

At this time, I also saw two water columns spraying into the sky on the sea in front of the right. The water column quickly turned into vapor mist and floated into the air along the sunshine.

"It's so beautiful." While I was sighing, everyone on the boat started working like a clockwork. They all looked serious, like soldiers about to go to the battlefield.

The whale swims were not fast, and the William quickly approached the whale. As Captain Conan Doyle ordered one after another, the people on the deck were busy. Three small boats were put down, two or three large pairs of murderous portraits stood at the bow of the boat with whale forks, and eight sailors were rowing desperately. The three small boats approached the whale group like bows and arrows off the strings.

When the boat was about twenty meters away from the whale, with a loud roar, three whale forks pierced into the bodies of the two whales almost at the same time. The huge and clumsy black monster woke up like a dream and swam quickly to the far west. The ropes on the three whale forks were pulled straight in an instant, and the three hulls began to speed up like a turbine engine. One minute later, the three hulls and two injured whales disappeared from our sight.

All this appeared in front of me like a thrilling action movie. I have participated in various sports meetings before, regardless of whether they were all participating as contestants, this time it appeared at the real bloody hunting scene from an audience perspective. The ship turned slightly under the command of Captain Conan Doyle and chased along the blood floating on the blue sea. On the way, I encountered nine people including the second mate who was overturned by whales, who were surrounded by overturning boats on the sea waiting for rescue.

Pull the second mate up and the second mate is still swearing to the people on the boat: "They and Dabing the whale that was forked at the same time actually broke a whale fork by constantly accelerating and diving, but they followed it firmly. When the damn black whale loses too much blood, it will be his death."

William sailed for a while, and the blood on the sea became thicker and thicker. According to Conan Doyle, this was the whale's force that stopped. Dabian and Sans should be waiting for us not far ahead. Sure enough, as Conan Doyle said, three and large cheers came from the sea not long ago. These warriors at sea stood on the wide back of the whale, cheering and waiting for the general to come for inspection.

After all the crew boarded the ship, Conan Doyle opened his arms and shouted wildly: "The arms of the Lord arise, rise up, and wear them with power, just like the days of ancient times, the rise of ancient generations. Isn't you who cut down Rahab and stabbed the big fish?"

I don’t know what to do at this time, so I can only silently draw a cross on my chest. I am stronger than them and know more about using human mechanics and nutrition, but fighting between life and death at sea is their destiny. I can only comfort myself, you are a mainland nation.

Conan Doyle brought out a barrel of rum and several cups from the warehouse, and said to all the sailors: "Arise, rise, rise, stand up, and you drank the cup of wrath from the Lord, and drank the Lord, which made people fall into trouble, and drink all the drinks." After that, he raised his glass to drink the rum in the cup. He laughed and passed the cup to others.

Half a glass of rum is nothing more than a moistening throat for these alcoholics who soak in the bar every day after they get ashore. However, the enthusiasm for work is immediately mobilized. The sailors used a huge winch to pull a twenty-ton black whale to the deck and began to break down the whale meat with a huge saw. Pieces of whale oil and whale meat were torn off from the whale. Of course, the most important separation of whale baleen and whale brain oil (commonly known as whale) was carried out by the sailors, two or three pairs of long and large pieces.

I saw that whale meat was sprinkled with a large handful of salt and stored, and ordinary whale blubber was also boiled into oil in a large pot and poured into a wooden barrel. I asked Conan Doyle curiously: "Captain, didn't you say that whale oil and whale meat are generally abandoned?"

Conan Doyle pointed to the larger black whale in the sea and said, "We only have whales and baleens, and we will abandon that whale and fat. The meat and oil of this fish are enough for us to use it for a year and a half. You don't think I'm going to spend money to buy them food, do you?"

I gave my thumbs up: "High, it's really high. In Chinese, it's just that the saying goes by the mountains and by the water is the reason. But as far as I know, don't say that in Asia, there are many people in Europe who can't eat. It's a waste to throw away so much oil. It's a pity, it's a pity." After saying that, I shook my head and looked compassionate. I secretly began to calculate how much this meat costs 30 cents per pound and how much oil costs 60 cents per pound.

Conan Doyle looked innocent: "There is no way. If I take a boat of fish back to Europe, I will be laughed to death by my colleagues. We will go to sea for several years. Without enough profits, we will not return."

I nodded to express my understanding: "Yes, it will take about half a year to go back and forth. If I catch three or five whales, I will really not make any profit."

"It's not that far. If you only sell whales and baleen, you will have a high profit to sell them to Portuguese merchants in Macau. There are no competitors in these whales in the East, and whales are not afraid of people and ships. We have to take the opportunity to make a fortune now. How about it, Mr. Holmes, are you interested in investing in the whaling industry? I heard that you were lucky yesterday." Conan Doyle sold his ship shares to me with a commercial smile.

“Yeah? Venture capital?”

"Yes, I think there should be twenty times the profit in three years, which is the smallest budget."

It is indeed much better than depositing in the bank to buy stocks, but I have a better plan in my mind, "Dear Captain, I am not very interested in venture capital now. I want to do some business, for example, buy the excess whale oil and whale meat on your boat and sell it. I happened to know there is a port nearby, which is just west."

Conan Doyle thought it was good, just use it as a waste, and as for those sailors, they were idle. Conan Doyle picked up the huge black whale under the boat with his eyes and asked, "Mr. Sherlock Holmes, how much do you pay for that black whale?"

"Your goods, please offer a price."

Conan Doyle's idea of asking for a discount to pay the money was put on the ground, and he stretched out his two fingers, "Twenty pounds?"

"Dispose it for me." There are about ten tons of whale oil for more than 20 tons, and the meat is slightly less, but there are also seven or eight tons. Although 20 pounds pay real gold, I still think it is worth it. After all, the place I want to go is the cheapest country in the world. (After all, 1 pound weighs only a few grams. You must know that in Japan, where gold is extremely depreciated, these meat and oil are sold at a price of a few kilograms of gold.)

"Transaction." The two profiteers held their right hands together.
