Chapter 8 The Celestial Dynasty Comes

Zhu Cijing ordered the chieftains who gathered in Menggen's mansion to recruit them. He originally planned to cancel all Xuanwei Divisions while sank the South China Sea, so before he set off, he specifically asked Sun Yuanhua to check how many chieftains there were in the Ming Dynasty's guard offices. This investigation made him a little confused.

It turns out that not only the Xuanfu envoy of Xuanwei Department was called Tusi, but many people also called Tusi:

Xuanwei Office is actually equivalent to the nature of the Dushi Office, and Xuanfu Envoy is equivalent to the commander of the Dushi Office of the Provincial Department, and is a third-rank military officer!

There is also Xuanfu Division under Xuanfu Division, which is equivalent to the ward office. Xuanfu Division's Xuanfu Division's Xuanfu Division is equivalent to the commander of the third rank;

The Xuanfu Department also has the Fushi Department and the Chief of the Office, which is equivalent to the Thousand Household Office, and the chief of these departments is equivalent to the Fifth-rank Qianhu;

All of these Xuanfu envoys and chief officials of the third, fourth and fifth ranks are called chiefs. There are twenty or thirty Xuanfu envoys and Xuanfu envoys under the Sichuan Dusi, Sichuan Xingdu envoys, Yunnan Dusi, Guizhou Dusi, and Huguang Dusi, and hundreds of sues!

To be honest, this is a bit too much. If he wants to do it one by one, it will exhaust people. He simply issued an order. All Xuanwei Office convened two thousand elite soldiers, all Xuanfu Office convened one thousand elite soldiers, all the Fufu Office and the Chief Litigation summoned one hundred elite soldiers, all rushed to Menggen Mansion to gather, preparing to attack Donghu, and all the chieftains must be present!

Except for Taizu and Chengzu, if other emperors of the Ming Dynasty issued such an order, few chieftains would probably take care of it. However, Emperor Chongzheng seemed to have surpassed Chengzu and was very catching up with Taizu. No one dared not to go these chieftains, because if they didn't go, they would resist the order. If they resist the order, they would have to behead them. Other emperors may not have the ability to cut them all down, but Emperor Chongzheng definitely has it!

Therefore, the chieftains summoned elite troops and packed their luggage to Menggen Mansion. After more than two months, the Menggen Mansion gradually gathered nearly 50,000 chieftains.

After all, Menggen's Mansion borders the current Donghu Dynasty. Zhu Cijing was originally planning to send a legion to guard it. However, when he asked the commander of the Yunnan Metropolitan Commander and Wang Zhengnan, who was in Menggen's Mansion, he gave up this idea because they all believed that even if the Donghu attacked, it would be impossible for the Donghu to gather 100,000 troops, because they could not transport food. Even if the Yunnan Metropolitan Commander organized all the garrisons to transport food and grass, he could only barely supply the food and grass of a 100,000 army. How strong can the Donghu be?

Therefore, Zhu Cijing finally issued an order to let all the chieftains organize elite troops to rush to Menggen Prefecture, and the Yunnan Dushi organized the station guards to take turns to transport food and grass, as long as the supply of 50,000 people was guaranteed. He had already thought about it. As long as the chieftains came, they would be appointed as prefect, prefect and county according to their position, and would only manage civil affairs and no longer manage military affairs. As for those who did not come, they would not take any responsibility and would be destroyed directly!

Fortunately, these toasts are not stupid. They all know that the consequences of not coming are likely to be the family scout and extermination of the clan, so they all came here obediently.

Since all the armies were ready, the next step was to send someone to announce the order. Zhu Cijiong carefully studied the information about being an old man, and finally chose Mei Zhihuan.

Mei Zhihuan, whose courtesy name is Binfu, was named Xintian, and was from Macheng, Huguang. He was a Jinshi in the 32nd year of Wanli (1604 AD) and was promoted to Shujishi. He served as the governor of Gansu. During his time in governor of Gansu, he led military and civilians to eliminate local bandits many times. He was a rare civil and military genius. However, he had a very bad background, and he was also a member of the Donglin Party.

In the third year of Chongzheng, Qian Qianyi and other senior officials of the Donglin Party were corrupt and abused the law, used their power for personal gain, and assisted the Jiangnan scholar-official group to swallow up the Ming Dynasty taxes. The emperor was furious and purged the Donglin Party. In fact, Mei Zhihuan did not participate in corruption and was a good official who truly served the country and the people. However, the actions of Qian Qianyi and others really made him ashamed to be an official in the court, so he simply resigned and retired.

Mei Zhihuan was actually a famous poet in the late Ming Dynasty. The famous poem "Inscription on the Tomb of Li Bai" was written by him. He dared to write poems in front of the tomb of the poet Li Taibai, and could be circulated by later generations. His literary talent can be seen, so he is also considered a famous scholar in the Ming Dynasty. In addition, he is already 65 years old, so he was fortunate to be elected as the envoy of the Celestial Empire and declared an imperial edict to the emperor!

Because he is both civil and military, he is the strongest among these ten old men in his sixties, so he was fortunate to be named by the emperor to go to Annan to announce the imperial edict. Why did he choose a strong old man? Because Siming Mansion is nearly 300 miles away from the capital of Annan Shenglong City, and it is all mountainous. If it is not strong, it may be dead if it is not strong.

Three hundred miles, if it is a plain, it will take only one day to go fast. The problem is that this is a mountainous area, so the Ming Dynasty envoys walked for five or six days.

Speaking of the arrival of the Celestial Envoy, what did the emperor of the Li Dynasty in the Later Li Dynasty react? The current Emperor of the Later Li Dynasty, Li Weiqi, did not react at all because he had been under house arrest and had no idea that the arrival of the Ming Dynasty's envoy was!

If you want to talk about the reaction, what we need to look at now is the reaction of the Zheng family, because the northern part of Annan was their territory, and then the emperor of the Li Dynasty was under house arrest by them.

The Ming Dynasty's millions of troops gathered in northern Annan, so the Zheng family naturally knew about this, but they judged that the Ming Dynasty was scary. Why? It was all our fault of Emperor Chongzheng Zhu Cijing. He insisted on bringing 700,000 prisoners with him. Therefore, the information obtained by the Zheng family was that most of the million troops in the Ming Dynasty were pretended to be civilians!

Well, the prisoners are indeed dressed as civilians, and there are indeed more than the Ming army. This information cannot be said to be completely fake.

The Zheng family was indeed frightened, but they thought the Ming Dynasty was a bit like bluffing, and the purpose was to let them surrender automatically, so they did not intend to surrender. They were planning to waste time with the Ming Dynasty. The vast mountains in the middle were their natural barrier. If the Ming Dynasty wanted to attack, it would definitely cost a lot. They estimated that the Ming Dynasty would not attack hard.

Sure enough, it has been more than a month since the "million-million army" of the Ming Dynasty, which seems to have completely confirmed Zheng's speculation.

When the Great Ming Dynasty envoy arrived, the Zheng family was not too panicked. If you could not threaten, you would send someone to intimidate. Normal, come on, we will avoid it, you can’t do anything about it!

Therefore, when Mei Zhihuan brought hundreds of people to the outside of Shenglong City with the Ming envoys, the gates were closed and no one paid attention to them at all.

This was indeed a bit beyond Mei Zhihuan's expectations. He thought that Annan would either send someone to pretend to be a thief to intercept and kill them halfway, or drive them away directly, or kill them all with great viciousness. He could understand no matter how too much, but he did not expect that the city gate would be shut down and turned him away.
