Chapter 4 Building the Foundation in a Hundred Days

A clear stream flowed out of the forest, and Yu Mengqi circled in front of him and then fell to the foot of the mountain.

The nearby green trees are hidden, and the mist is filled with the mountains and forests. The air is extremely fresh, which makes Meng Qi feel relaxed and happy.

Before dawn, the morning bell rang, awakening Meng Qi. After learning the Sanskrit mantra in the morning class, he and Zhenhui were arranged by Xuanxin to carry water here. There were Zhen Ying, Zhenguan and others around, as well as the monks in the monks who used the carrying water to temper them.

Looking at the stream, Meng Qi inadvertently saw his current appearance from the slowly flowing water surface.

This is a child with eyes as much as ink, eyebrows as far as the mountains, and carved with jade. He is about twelve or thirteen years old, just a little older than Zhenhui.

"I look so good. I used to be pampered." Meng Qi praised himself, but then lamented, what's the use of this for a monk? I must return to secular life!

He sank the barrel to the bottom of the water, intending to test how strong he is. At the same time, he reminded Zhenhui around him: "My junior brother, it's almost done if you only pick half of it, don't show off."

"Yes." Zhenhui looked at the fish swimming in the stream and licked her lips.

Just as Meng Qi was about to lift the wooden barrel, he suddenly felt someone looking at him, so he turned his head and looked over with his eyes. He happened to see a group of familiar monks. They were the little novice monks who were ordained by Xuan Ku with him. Among them, Meng Qi could not remember the names, but now he looked at his true virtue.

Zhende's eyebrows were quite messy and his cheeks were long. When he saw Meng Qi looking back, his head slightly raised, and he seemed a little arrogant and proud.

Seeing this, the other little novice monks around him turned from bitter expressions to smiling happily. It seemed that after seeing his "companion" who was worse than himself, the hardships of life in the monk's courtyard disappeared.

Yes, we entered the Martial Monk Academy, and Zhending and Zhenhui could only be serious monks, which is something worthy of happiness and pride.

Zhende opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something, but after looking at the precept monk next to him, he closed his mouth and raised the wooden barrel from the stream, two full barrels.

Meng Qi curled his lips and decided not to be as knowledgeable as a child. One day he would enter the monk's academy and learn the unique skills of Shaolin!

He gave up his messy thoughts and lifted the two wooden barrels hard.

As soon as the wooden barrel left the water surface, Meng Qi was shocked. How could it be so light?

He felt that he had no strength, so the barrel was lifted.

"Is it heavy?" Meng Qi asked Zhenhui in confusion.

Zhenhui came over honestly, lifted two buckets of water in front of Timengqi, raised the blue veins that burst, and her face twisted, then nodded: "Heavy."

"It's not a problem with water?" Meng Qi took a light breath and said to himself, "Is this body born with good strength? Uh, look at the skin, clothes, accessories, and the Marquis in the mouth of the horse-faced uncle. This body is probably from a noble family. Maybe he has practiced martial arts before and laid a foundation, and his strength is much bigger than that of a normal child."

No matter what the reason was, Meng Qi was no longer afraid of carrying water. He bent down, carried two buckets of water, and followed the team of monks in front to climb the mountain on the stone steps.

The team quickly stretched and separated. The monks who had been tempered for many years could also walk vigorously with iron buckets and water, and quickly disappeared into the mountains and forests.

In order not to attract attention, Meng Qi dragged it to the end with several erotic monks such as Zhenhui. However, the newly promoted little novice monks in the Martial Monk Academy such as Zhende have just entered the temple for a day and have not made any progress, and they are the same as them.

Feeling the gazes of Meng Qi and others, the little shamis in the monks and the monks' yard were red, and they all lowered their waists, put on their poses, and made great strides, not wanting to fall together with these serious monks.

Seeing their speed increase, Meng Qi moved his heart and imitated them to calm down and pose, and suddenly felt that the wooden barrel filled with water was lighter.

"This posture is very simple..." Meng Qi groped for the skills to make him easier, and his pace gradually accelerated. Before he knew it, he threw away Zhenhui and surpassed Zhende.

"Hmph, you must be steady at first, or you can't walk in front of you!" Zhende said indignantly behind Meng Qi.

Meng Qi said hell, feeling that he needed to change to a large wooden barrel tomorrow, otherwise there would be no exercise effect.

However, the mountain road was difficult to walk, so I went up again. After Meng Qi arrived, he was still sweating and panting.

"Please control your breathing." Suddenly, a serious voice sounded in his ears.

Meng Qi turned his head and found that the patrol monk stood beside him at some point, demonstrating the rhythm of breathing. He was surprised and happy, and learned to adjust his breathing. Soon he lost the phenomenon of exhaustion and returned to the temple.

"Tomorrow, change to a large bucket to carry water." The precept monk gave an order and went down to welcome other little novice monks.

Meng Qi's mouth twitched. Although he had this idea in his mind, he was still quite worried that he would not have enough strength.

After a while, Zhenhui and Zhende and other little monks also carried water up the mountain and saw Meng Qi breathing "morning light" there.

"It's just that, but the strength is only great." Zhende gasped and muttered, just like other little novice monks in the monk's courtyard, he felt embarrassed in front of Zhending who was obviously not as good as him and others!

Then, they did not stop and rushed to leave.

"My junior brother, let's have a good time, is that okay?" Meng Qi didn't pay attention to them at all, and asked Zhenhui who was breathing heavily.

Zhenhui nodded: "Very, very good, early, breakfast!"

…………

After breakfast, the sky was just dawn and the east was red.

Meng Qi did not feel sore after heavy labor, but instead felt more awake and full of energy.

"This body is really good..." Meng Qi looked at the tired serious monks in the dining hall, and felt a sense of joy. No matter what, a good body is his future reliance.

"The new one comes with me to preach the ritual." Xuan Xin stood at the door of the vegetarian hall with a chicken leg in his hand and smiled. When she saw Meng Qiwang coming over, she nodded gently, "It's a good job, don't give the little guys in the ritual monks' academy face. When I come back tonight, my uncle will reward you."

"Reward?" Meng Qi was delighted. Although he hated Xuanxin a little, who wouldn't love the reward?

Before Xuanxin could answer, Zhenhui said dumbly: "Uncle Xuanxin, you must not eat meat after you get to know her. You have violated the precepts."

Meng Qi's head buzzed, and he wanted to turn around and cover Zhenhui's mouth but he was slower.

Sure enough, Xuanxin's smile suddenly stiffened on her face.

He pulled the corners of his mouth and said with a slight smile: "Uncle Master, I never violate the precepts."

After saying that, he never mentioned the reward again and walked out of the dining hall with an ugly expression.

It was not until this time that low laughter sounded in the dining hall.

Zhenhui looked at Meng Qi with little clarity: "Senior Brother, why are they laughing at?"

Laughing at you being too stupid and stupid... Meng Qi answered in his heart.

However, Zhenhui was not concerned about this issue, so she immediately diverted her attention: "Senior brother, why did Master Xuanxin say that he did not violate the precepts, but he was obviously gnawing chicken legs!"

"Because he has not reached the level of enlightenment..." Meng Qi replied in a misty voice, feeling that it is necessary to tell Zhenhui about the principles of being a human being, so as not to always be foolish and offend others, thus implicating himself.

"Oh! Uncle Xuanxin has not yet learned the truth." Zhenhui suddenly realized, with a happy expression on her face, as if she had unlocked some crucial secret.

Seeing that Xuanxin outside did not stop, Meng Qi didn't care about telling Zhenhui about the worldly affairs and understanding of human nature, he called him to follow him.

As he walked around the courtyards of the large and small Buddhist temples, Meng Qi only heard a sound of chanting scriptures, which was ethereal and distant, and was particularly cleansing of people's hearts.

"The evening drum and morning bell awaken the world's fame and fortune; the sutras and Buddhist chants bring back the sea of suffering and dreams of being charming..." Somehow, Meng Qi thought of this couplet. This scene is really appropriate.

"Hey, Master Zhending, have you heard of this couplet at the entrance of Shuiyue Temple?" Xuan Xin asked with a smile.

Meng Qi stood up and pretended to be calm and said, "I heard from my father."

I could only push it to the inexplicable marquis.

Xuanxin was not surprised, and said in a sigh: "Uncle Master, I have been to Shuiyue Temple and saw this couplet at the door, so I was deeply impressed. At that time, the archer of the temple forced to attack the Dharma body with his strength as the first in the earth list for many years, hoping to achieve the "Golden Body of the Great Compassionate and Absolutely Absolute Bodhisattva", but unfortunately he failed to sit and transform."

"The golden body of the great compassionate and compassionate Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara?" Meng Qi spoke in shock, and his heart was inexplicably hot.

Xuan Xin closed her sigh and laughed, "The fundamental reason for establishing the sect in Shuiyue Temple is the "Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Heart Sutra". If you achieve the right result, you can obtain the "Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's Golden Body". It belongs to the great Bodhisattva and one of the great Arhat's Golden Body, far higher than the ordinary Bodhisattva's Golden Body and the Arhat's Golden Body, second only to the Tathagata's Golden Body, Amitabha Dharma Body and Bodhi Golden Body. But for all generations, only the Shuiyue Temple has achieved it."

"That's how..." Meng Qi felt that his skin was hot and his heart was beating. There was actually a Bodhisattva's golden body, a Buddha's golden body, etc. in this world, which was really exciting and fascinating.

At this time, after everyone stepped into the "State of the Scholars", Xuan Xin calmed down her hippie smile and stopped talking. She took Meng Qi and others into a side hall seriously.

"Senior Brother Xuan, this is a new novice monk from the Servant Academy." Xuan Xin lowered his name and pointed at Meng Qi and others.

Sitting in front of the chanting hall was a skinny old monk with white eyebrows, also wearing a yellow monk's robe, with books and wooden fish in front of him, and holding a ruler in his hand.

"Sit down separately." He pointed to the futons that were still empty below, and there was a small table in front of each futon.

Meng Qi, Zhenhui and others dared not speak, so they found a seat to kneel down and waited for another half a minute. One by one, one by one, including the "companions" who entered the temple with Zhende and others.

They looked at Meng Qi and others in surprise, obviously they didn't expect that the sermon monks could also study in the lecture hall.

Xuan En knocked on the wooden fish in front of him, calming the little novice monks, and then said in a low voice: "In the next three years, as long as you do not violate the temple rules, you can come here to learn literacy at this time every day. In addition to ordinary words, you must also practice Sanskrit in order to study ancient scriptures."

He paused and said, "But before teaching you words today, we must guide you into martial arts."

After hearing what he said, Meng Qi was energetic and his back was subconsciously straight, so could the merciless monks be guided?

Such doubts also made Zhende and others widen their eyes. What is the difference between the Servant House and the Martial Monk House?

"Whether it is the Taoist silence or the secular flow, the first step in the martial arts practice is similar and slightly different, which is to open the qi and meridians and strengthen the spirit and body." Xuan En ignored the doubts of Zhende and others and told the Tao on his own.

Meng Qi was so focused that he was afraid that he would miss a word.

"This step in Taoism is called '100-day foundation building', which means laying the foundation for martial arts practice. The so-called '100-day' is normal, within a hundred days, the qi of the Ren and Du meridians will be full and open. In my Buddhism, it is called 'Cultivation in Conscience', because only when the mind is calm and enters sedation, without dispersion or chaos, can the true qi be naturally transformed, fill the acupoints, and open the qi meridians, which is commonly called 'opening meridians'."

Xuan En roughly introduced the key points of "cultivating one's body in concentration" (100-day foundation building): "There are 365 large orifices in the human body. After each vent of true qi is produced, it must be filled into the orifices, and each orifice requires nine vents of true qi to be sufficient..."

"Each time you enter a meditation for one quarter of an hour, you can only produce one breath of true energy. Therefore, according to the daily practice time of each person, this step can be completed in about a hundred days to one year."

"When you enter into meditation, the six senses are pure, and you don't have delusions or urgency. After a quarter of an hour, the true qi will be transformed into, half of which will go up from the Du meridian to the Baihui point on the top of the head, and then down from the upper jaw to produce a mouthful of 'golden flesh', and the other half will go up from the Ren meridian to the lower jaw, and turn into a mouthful of 'jade liquid'."

"When the 'Golden and Jade Liquid' meet, it will form a mouthful of clear and sweet saliva. This is called 'Nectar' in my Buddhism. Then swallow 'Nectar' and fill it with the corresponding acupoints..."

Xuan En repeatedly said the key points several times before saying: "When the 'cultivation of one' in meditation' is completed, the energy and spirit will be sufficient, the qi and meridians will be open, and the body will be strong. Only in this way can we enter the next step of 'meditation and qi storage'. My Buddhism is also called 'long-lasting and nourishing the holy fetus'."

After saying that, he asked all the little novice monks to try to enter into meditation.

This is not meditation, but only requires calmness, which is not difficult. It is relatively simple for children with fewer thoughts.

But as an adult, Meng Qi has a lot of miscellaneous thoughts and has been unable to calm his mind and enter into samadhi for a long time, which makes him impatient, but the more anxious he is, the more he is unable to enter into samadhi.

When he was so anxious that he was sweating profusely, he suddenly felt a clear and cool feeling in his chest, and his mind was clear.
